Nothing Less Than a War of Conquest

 https://archive.org/services/img/papersofwilliama06grah

Lincoln, controlled by a disjointed Republican party, was unable to recognize that he was waging war upon a free Americans who followed the very words of Jefferson’s Declaration. Former Governor William A. Graham, in his Hillsboro, North Carolina speech of April 27, 1861 and nearly a month before his State seceded, explains the logical and peaceful course Lincoln could have taken to defuse the crisis and thereby saved the lives of a million Americans, the Constitution and as well as the Union he claimed to be saving.

Nothing Less Than a War of Conquest

“We are in the midst of great events. For months past our political skies have been dark and lowering. The country has stood in anxious suspense on the perilous edge of civil war. It is well known that I among others, have insisted, that the election of Mr. Lincoln . . . obnoxious as were his own avowals of sentiment in relation to slavery in the South, and still more obnoxious as was the spirit of hostility to us, which animated the mass of his party followers, was not a sufficient cause for a dismemberment of this Government, and the destruction of the Union . . .

The seven States, however, stretching from our Southern frontier to the confines of Mexico, one by one in rapid succession have declared themselves separated from the Government of the United States, and formed a new confederation.

They found in the election which had taken place sufficient cause of occasion, in their estimation, for this hitherto untried course of proceeding, and levied armies to defend it by force. The authorities of the United States denied the right of secession claimed by these States, and the danger became great of a collision of arms.

The issue was made, but evaded under the administration of [President James] Buchanan. Its solution by Mr. Lincoln has been a matter of anxious contemplation to the people of the country since his accession to power. Whatever may be the true construction of the Constitution, or the President’s idea of his duty to enforce the laws, a wise statesmanship cannot close its eyes to the facts.

It is impossible to treat so extensive a revolution like a petty rebellion; for if suppressed by force, it would be at the expense of desolation and ruin to the country. He should have dealt with it . . . [and] yielded to the necessities by which he was surrounded, and adjusted by arrangement what he found impossible to control by force, or if possible, only at a sacrifice to the nation itself never to be repaired.

Had Mr. Lincoln risen to the height of the great occasion, promptly withdrawn his troops from fortifications which he could not defend; convened Congress in extra session; recommended and procured the passage of a law, or amendment to the Constitution, acknowledging the independence of the seceded States . . . he might yet have maintained a Union of twenty-seven contented States . . . And after an experiment of a few years, there might, and in my opinion probably would have been, a re-annexation of the seceded States themselves.

But instead of this bold and magnanimous policy, his action has been vacillating. His inaugural address in equivocal, interpreted by some, on its first appearance as portending force, assurances are thrown out that his intentions are only peaceful. And when the public mind in all the eight [Southern States] that had not seceded, was settling down in the conviction that the forts were to be evacuated and repose was to be allowed, so favorable to conciliation and harmony, a Proclamation suddenly bursts upon the country announcing a determination on coercion, and calling for a militia force so great as to endanger the safety of more than the seceded States.

Careless of any terms of conciliation, or adjustments of differences with the border States, he resolves, but not till after his own adherents have been demoralized by his hesitation and professions of peace, on the application of force to maintain the authority of the Government in the States which have withdrawn, and requires us to cooperate as instruments in their subjugation.

The sober sense of the people of North Carolina had met this question, and for themselves have settled it. Ardent in their attachment to the Constitution and the Union, they had condemned separate State secession as rash and precipitate . . . as long as there was hope of an adjustment of sectional differences, they were unwilling to part with the Government . . . But the President gives to the question new alternatives.

These are, on the one hand, to join with him in a war of conquest, for it is nothing less, against our brethren of the seceding States, or, on the other, resistance to and throwing off the obligations of the Federal Constitution. Of the two, we do not hesitate to accept the latter.

And withal, we cannot exclude from our contemplation the idea, that when [the seceded States] shall be subdued upon the issues involved in the contest, our turn will come next; our only exemption above theirs being, like the victims of Cyclops, we shall be last to be devoured.”

NC: Study confirms what gun rights advocates have said for a long time about crime

A study found that in approximately 8 out of 10 gun crimes, the perpetrator was not a lawful gun owner but rather in illegal possession of a weapon that belonged to someone else.

A study found that in approximately 8 out of 10 gun crimes, the perpetrator was not a lawful gun owner but rather in illegal possession of a weapon that belonged to someone else.

Lawful gun owners commit less than a fifth of all gun crimes, according to a novel analysis released this week by the University of Pittsburgh.

In the study, led by epidemiologist Anthony Fabio of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health, researchers partnered with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police to trace the origins of all 893 firearms that police recovered from crime scenes in the year 2008.

They found that in approximately 8 out of 10 cases, the perpetrator was not a lawful gun owner but rather in illegal possession of a weapon that belonged to someone else. The researchers were primarily interested in how these guns made their way from a legal purchase - at a firearm dealer or via a private sale - to the scene of the crime.

Aww: Barcelona unveils digital 'shame counter’ to track refugee deaths

Barcelona’s mayor Ada Colau poses in front a digital billboard that shows the number of refugees who died in the Mediterranean.
Must be a requirement that *female, Left-Of-Lenin liberals are ugly as sin.
*I'm assuming she is female, but certainly aren't sure looking at the picture

Barcelona’s leftwing commie government has unveiled a large digital counter next to one of the city’s popular beaches that will track the number of refugees who die in the Mediterranean.

“We are inaugurating this shame counter which will update all known victims who drowned in the Mediterranean in real time,” said mayor Ada Colau, whose radical coalition won power in June 2015 on a promise to create jobs and fight corruption.

The monument consists of a large metal rectangular pillar that comes decked out with a digital counter above the inscription “This isn’t just a number, these are people.”

Trump Google 'Presidential Candidates' Search: Tech Giant Comes Under Fire Then Explains Why GOP Nominee Not On List

Via John

Donald Trump fans looking up the list of this year's presidential candidates on Google got a pretty big surprise on Wednesday, as it was found that the search giant was only displaying three candidates on its results page, namely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders and Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Notably, GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, as well as Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson were nowhere to be seen.

Unsurprisingly, supporters of the headstrong Republican nominee took to the internet to voice out their frustrations about Google's alleged bias towards Trump. According to Trump supporters, the search results on Wednesday were proof that the tech giant held a very overt left-wing bias.

This was not the first time that Google's alleged bias towards specific candidates have been brought to light, with some netizens even accusing the tech giant that it was trying to initiate some degree of political manipulation on this year's elections.

Sanders’ Supporters Should Consider Darcy Richardson

Via Red

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/82/LG_PICs_2_002.JPG/220px-LG_PICs_2_002.JPG

I recently became aware that Darcy G. Richardson is seeking the Presidential nomination of the Reform Party. The Reform Party is holding its national convention starting today, 29 July through 31 July in Bohemia, New York. While I have never met Darcy personally, I consider him a virtual friend. We are both long time contributors to the third party news website Independent Political Report (IPR) as well as frequent commenters.

Darcy has written several books on the subject of third parties, including his most recent book which was, appropriately, a history of the Reform Party. While I don’t doubt that Darcy does extensive research on his subjects, you get the sense that he could write the definitive history of some obscure third party subject off the top of his head. The man is a walking encyclopedia of third party minutia, and as anyone who has ever been involved with the third party scene knows, there is a lot of minutia.

While Darcy is clearly a man of the left, and we don’t see eye to eye on a lot of subjects, I consider Darcy an honest old school liberal, the kind who actually cares about the economic well-being of the working class. He is someone like Ralph Nader, who Darcy has supported in the past, who focuses on issues of economic class and looking out for the working man, rather than the silly and counter-productive Social Justice Warrior grievance stoking, virtue signaling and thought policing that characterizes so much of the modern left.

Anyone who has followed my work knows that I am a strong supporter of Donald Trump because I believe his campaign has sparked a much needed and long overdue Middle American uprising........

In The Wake of the Battle Flag - Answering the Critics in Danville

Via Susan

After Saturday’s wildly successful flag raising ceremony in Danville, Va, where over 700 people gathered in the sweltering heat and red clay dust to dedicate and raise the largest battle flag ever flown in the Commonwealth, press reports quickly spread across the country. Over a half dozen news agencies came to record the event, most assuredly looking for any trace of the “hate” and “racism” that the media and leftists have tried to smear us with, especially over the last 12 months. Finding no indication of anything even close to these sentiments, the reports, while sometimes factually inaccurate, were almost universally positive in the portrayal of what the reporters witnessed that day.

Even so, some of the local Danville flag haters and faux "news agencies”, frustrated by the fact that the event turned out to be one of the largest events in the Danville area this year, and that 700+ people came together, peacefully honored their ancestors, and left without incident or any display of hate or animosity, took to their blogs and social media to try and discredit the effort with the same old tired talking points.

My favorite is the one directed at me, personally, and is laughable.

Welcome to the Communist Party, U.S.A.

Wearing a white pantsuit, Hillary Clinton plodded out on stage to accept the nomination that she had schemed, plotted, lied, cheated, rigged and eventually fixed a series of elections to obtain.

Then she claimed that she was accepting the nomination of a race she had rigged with “humility”.

Humility is not the first word that comes to mind when thinking of Hillary Clinton. It is not even the last word. It is not in the Hillary dictionary at all. But this convention was a desperate effort to humanize Hillary. Everyone, including her philandering husband and dilettante daughter, down to assorted people she had met at one point, were brought up on stage to testify that she really is a very nice person.

This wasn’t a convention. It was a series of character witnesses for a woman with no character. It was an extensive apology for the Left’s radical agenda cloaked in fake patriotism and celebrity adulation.

Americans 'facing $1 trillion tax hike' with Clinton

Via Billy

There’s been talk about what a Hillary Clinton presidency would cost the United States: more loss of religious rights as she pursues Barack Obama’s “gay” agenda, a loss of gun rights, a diminution of military might, the incalculable toll of appointing Supreme Court justices who want the law to reflect their own ideologies rather than the Constitution.

But here’s something that’s certainly a little more defined.

$1 trillion.

Or probably more, in massive tax hikes she’s proposing.

It amounts to a bump of $3,100 per taxpayer.

At least.

Trump running an open source insurgency

 https://hallsofkarma.files.wordpress.com/2016/02/donald2btrump2bjihadi2bimmigration.jpg?w=1000

The Trumpification of the Establishment >>  Trump isn't running a campaign, he's running an open source insurgency (see my earlier article on this) that makes him nearly immune to personal attack, and it is working.  He has secured a whopping 7 points (47 to 40) lead over Clinton in a recent national poll by the LA Times/USC -- despite the fact that nearly EVERYONE in the media, academic, government, and political establishment is working against him.  This loss of control has infuriated the establishment, leading to increasing levels of paranoia, hyperbole, and anger (particularly in the media).  In short, the establishment is starting to act increasingly like Trump does -- exaggerating and amplifying everything.

Navy to Name Ship After Gay Rights Activist Harvey Milk

The Navy is set to name a ship after the gay rights icon and San Francisco politician Harvey Milk, according to a Congressional notification obtained by USNI News.

The July 14, 2016 notification, signed by Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, indicated he intended to name a planned Military Sealift Command fleet oiler USNS Harvey Milk (T-AO-206). The ship would be the second of the John Lewis-class oilers being built by General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego, Calif.

The Secretary of the Navy’s office is deferring releasing additional information until the naming announcement, a Navy official told USNI News on Thursday.

The Rate Of Homeownership In The United States Has Hit The Lowest Level Ever

Via Billy

http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/images/user5/imageroot/2016/07/21/homeownership%20rate%20q2%202016_0.jpg

The percentage of Americans that own a home has fallen to the lowest level ever recorded.  During the second quarter of 2016, the non-seasonally adjusted homeownership rate fell to just 62.9 percent, which was exactly where it was at when the U.S. Census began publishing this measurement back in 1965.  This is not what a “recovery” looks like.

All throughout the Obama years, the percentage of Americans that own a home has gotten smaller and smaller and smaller.  The reason for this, of course, is that the middle class in America is dying.  Last year, we learned that middle class Americans now make up a minority of the population for the first time ever.  In order to have a high rate of homeownership, you need a thriving middle class, and you can’t have a thriving middle class without good paying middle class jobs.  This is why I write about the evisceration of the middle class so extensively, because the U.S. economy is systematically being hollowed out and most Americans don’t understand what is happening.

Can't Make This Crap Up: There Is Now A Marketplace For White People To Make Reparations Payments

Last week, a new website was launched which establishes a marketplace whereby white people can pay reparations to "people of color" for their years of oppression.  The site was started by Natasha Marin, a conceptual artist, (Says it all doesn't it?) who says that the website began as a social media experiment on Facebook on July 15, 2016.  The about page of the website clarifies how people should utilize the site:
I invite People of Color to ask for what we need to feel better, be happier, be more productive by posting in this space. These may be both material and immaterial requests.

I invite people who identify as White to offer services or contributions to People of Color in need of time, energy, substantive care, and support.
Just so there isn't any confusion, Natasha provides examples:

Infuriating: Cops Raid Legal Cannabis Companies

Via comment by Jeffery in Alabama on Virtue and the Streets: A Dummy’s Guide to Police ...

 http://www.incimages.com/uploaded_files/inlineimage/630x0/DEAatMedWestLab_35084.png

Med-West, a medical THC extract company in San Diego, was raided in January and again in June. It's one of a number of cannabis companies targeted for asset seizure--but with no attendant criminal charges being filed--by California authorities.

At 7:37 a.m. on January 28, 2016, nearly 30 officers from the San Diego joint narcotics task force conducted a raid on Med-West Distributors, a licensed medical cannabis extraction company.

The officers, decked out in helmets and tactical gear and clutching assault rifles and handguns, used a sledgehammer to open the door, and then burst into the lobby. Once inside, the task force arrested two employees present, cracked open the company's safe, and collected its inventory--more than 30,000 cartridges of cannabis oil and a couple of pounds of concentrate.

The narcotics task force seized $1.4 million in cash, product, and money from various bank accounts belonging to owner James Slatic ($325,570 in cash was found in the safe). Med-West had been providing hundreds of licensed dispensaries around California with medical CO2-extracted cannabis oil and products under the state's medical marijuana laws since 2010. The company was licensed by the city of San Diego and operating openly. Slatic says his company was raided a second time in late June and is now officially closed.

San Diego law enforcement used federal asset forfeiture laws to freeze and seize the company's cash and the money in Slatic's personal bank account, the bank account of his wife (who is a federal employee at Veterans Affairs), and his kids' college savings accounts. The San Diego Sheriff's Office and San Diego County District Attorney's Office declined to explain why they seized Med-West's and the Slatic family's money, but neither has charged Slatic with a crime.
