Jefferson’s True Wall of Separation

 Jefferson peale

The United States Constitution does not contain the words “separation of church and state,” nor does it require the general government to purge all religious influence from public institutions. To the contrary of modern conceptions, the document does not require that elected officials abstain from making decisions based on religious proclivities, nor does it call for government to intervene to prevent religious influence in government.

It does, however, affirm the natural right of free religious association and prevents the general government from “respecting the establishment of religion.” Additionally, the Constitution prohibited religious oaths of affirmation, a classic form of governmental religious discrimination, from being imposed upon civil officials. Evident from the ratification struggle, this baseline was meant to encourage religious practices, especially by those held by religious minorities. Since genuine effort was taken to hinder the government from religious interference and persecution, those of all theistic persuasions would be able to worship freely, whether they served in government or not.

The Vanishing Republic of Our Fathers

 Oscar Underwood

The New South is one of the more misunderstood periods in American history. The contemporary narrative generally describes the period and its leaders as dense political hacks riding the coattails of Northern business elites. They were “wannabe” statesmen whose political ideology was singularly tied to race. This perspective is clouded by present conditions and our own short-sighted infatuation with racial politics. Historians often miss the complexity and deep-rooted origins of Southern political thought in this period, of its Jeffersonian origins and ties to the old republicans of the founding generation. There was more to these men than the plight and status of Southern blacks.

No one better exemplifies this than Oscar W. Underwood of Alabama. He was one of the dominant political figures of his day, a man of the Deep South who had a real shot at the presidency in 1912 before a pseudo-Southerner, Woodrow Wilson, grabbed the nomination. Underwood was a throwback to the Democrat Party of Grover Cleveland and by default the politics of the early republic. He served his State in the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate for over twenty years and led an effort to denounce the Ku Klux Klan and eliminate it from the Democrat Party in the 1920s. His opposition to the Klan led him to decline running for re-election in 1926. His opponent, future Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black, not only had Klan support, he was a Klan member.

Texas is taking a stand against the resettlement of Muslims from the Middle East in the Lone Star State by the Obama administration. Just this week, it was discovered that several in the state government have refused to resettle refugees from the Middle East until those in central government in Washington can guarantee they are not a security threat.

The Houston Chronicle reports:

A two-page letter from Charles Smith, executive commissioner of the state Health and Human Services Commission, dated Monday advises the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement of the state's decision not to allow additional refugee resettlements "without assurances from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Homeland Security and the Director of Nati0nal Intelligence that the refugees do not pose a security threat to our citizens."

White House Partner Asked Soros for $750K to Fund Pro-Iran Deal ‘Echo Chamber’

An organization that played a key role in the White House’s effort to mislead the public and Congress about last summer’s nuclear agreement with Iran requested $750,000 for this campaign from a foundation backed by liberal billionaire George Soros, according to funding documents leaked to the public.

The Ploughshares Fund, a liberal organization cited by top White House officials as a chief architect of the Obama administration’s campaign to push the Iran deal, requested the cash from Soros’s Open Society Foundations so that it could pay off “experts and validators” of the administration’s diplomacy with Iran, according to a funding proposal titled, “Defending Iran Nuclear Diplomacy.

NC: ‘Ready for Hillary’ Coming to a Prison Near You?

 RedState-2-READY FOR HILLARY

A sign that suddenly appeared outside the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women in Raleigh has been causing passersby to do a double-take.

Is the "Ready for Hillary" sign gracing the grounds of the state's largest prison for women just an unintentionally humorous choice of location by an unthinking Clinton supporter? Or has someone hit upon an imaginative new way to make the point that Hillary Clinton belongs in The Big House rather than The White House?

It is easy to underestimate the peasantry, the little people. They appear well under control. All seems calm, unless one looks carefully. The means of control work smoothly: the legions, the church, the media, the secret police, the enforcers of political correctness.  The serfs are cowed. Why worry about a distant peonage? Do we not have our castles? Let us dance and drink champagne.

And comes the guillotine.

Leaked Board Documents: Soros Organization Tried To Influence Supreme Court Ruling On Illegal Immigration

Open Society Foundations, Hungarian-born billionaire George Soros’ stated vehicle for progressive social change, orchestrated a well-funded attempt to secure a desired outcome in a U.S. Supreme Court case on illegal immigration enforcement, according to a newly discovered memo between the organization’s top U.S. officials and board members.

The February 2016 memo was among thousands of internal OSF documents released to the public by anonymous hackers whose stated goal is to “shed light on one of the most influential networks operating worldwide.” OSF U.S. Programs director Ken Zimmerman and deputy director Andrea Batista Schlesinger co-authored the memo, which is addressed to the 14 advisory board members of the organization’s U.S. operations.

Members of the advisory board include Soros family members, left-wing activists, Ivy League professors and columnists for The Washington Post and Foreign Policy magazine.  The memo, entitled “State of U.S. Programs,” is part of a 75-page file containing internal documents from a Feb 11 and 12 board meeting.

Ring made from a shard of glass that struck a WWI tank commander when his periscope took a hit is unearthed 100 years on

A poignant ring made from a shard of glass that struck a First World War tank commander when his periscope took a direct hit has been unearthed 100 years later.

Lieutenant Sir Basil Henriques was peering into the viewpoint during the first outing of the Mk I tank on the battlefield when artillery fire struck a glass prism that shattered, sending splinters into his face.

Medics later removed the pieces and the officer kept the largest part and had it mounted in a gold ring which he then gave to his new bride, Rose Loewe.

The Omen of Lost Shirts

Before I begin – a disclaimer. I abjure without reservation physical attacks, intimidation tactics, etc., nor am I suggesting or recommending any sort of insurrection or vigilante actions.  However, I’d like to lead in with the following quote from an on-line political newsletter I stumbled upon:
Destroy people’s hopes for a better life and you make riot, revolution, anarchy, and war inevitable.
Think about that quote in the context of these three articles, Drop in real wages longest for 50 years, says ONS, Shocking data revision by feds: Americans’ wages dropped 4.2% instead of rising in the first quarter, and Working 60 Hours A Week At 3 Part-Time Jobs And Still Living Paycheck To Paycheck among a legion of similar pieces over the last few years.  And then consider this, specifically that “Nearly half of Americans would have trouble finding $400 to pay for an emergency.”  And this quote about the AI/robot jobpocalypse (bolding added):

For sale: tanks, good condition, some used during D-Day.

The Normandy Tank Museum is selling its entire collection at auction next month before closing its doors because it failed to attract enough visitors. The sale includes tanks, military vehicles, trucks, aircraft and motorcycles, many of which have been restored to working order.

More than 40 armored vehicles, along with thousands of military items used during World War II and dozens of mannequins in full battle dress, will be sold on September 18 by Artcurial, a Paris-based luxury auction house. The sale will be held in Catz, a town a few kilometers from Normandy’s Utah beach, where the Allies landed to liberate German-occupied northwestern Europe in June 1944.

College Profs Admit Affirmative Action Is Failing Students, Get Called Racist & Princeton HR Bans Use of the Word “Man” – It’s Offensive

 Everything is racist [Creative Commons]
Why do you, as administrators, continue to offer differential outcomes to students of color, in spite of overwhelming data that demonstrates that many of our students, including white-identified students, cannot offer clients a social work intervention that is based upon competence, skills and ethics,” Miehls said in his letter. Miehls went so far as to call the admissions process “tainted” because of how willing it was to admit unprepared non-white students.

Leaked Docs Show How Much Money George Soros Paid Al Gore to Push Global Warming Propaganda

Documents released by DC Leaks show that globalist billionaire George Soros’s organization gave millions to Al Gore’s global warming programs that had as their express purpose to create a “political space for aggressive U.S. action” on climate change. Soros also had planned on giving millions to another environmentalist group, which leaked documents described as being the “lead organizer of the youth climate movement in the U.S.”
The documents showed that Soros’s Open Society Institute (OSI) – now called Open Society Foundations (OSF) – gave $30 million to Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection over the course of three years.

Why Milwaukee Burns

Via comment by Quartermain on Hillary's Weird Behavior: The Cover-Up

https://swordattheready.files.wordpress.com/2013/07/killwhitey.jpg

The war on cops, ideological and sometimes lethal, may be expanding into a broader race war, in which only one side fights. The thugs who torched businesses and police cars, assaulted cops, and shot at firemen in northwestern Milwaukee on Saturday night went after “white bitches,” among other targets. (The riots were inspired by the fatal police shooting of Sylville K. Smith, a black man.

Smith, who had an extensive arrest record, including for a shooting, fled from officers after a traffic stop while carrying a stolen handgun; he refused commands to drop the gun. Wisconsin governor Scott Walker has activated the state’s National Guard and declared a state of emergency, but violence continued into Sunday night, with four officers injured, three squad cars damaged, and multiple businesses burned down.) The Black Lives Matter-inspired assassin who murdered five police officers in Dallas in July 2016 said that he wanted to kill white people, as well as white cops. The vitriol that officers working in urban areas now encounter on a daily basis is inflected with racism.

And if the war on cops escalates into more frequent attacks on whites and their perceived interests, the elite establishment will bear much of the blame. For the last two years, President Barack Obama has seized every opportunity to advise blacks that they are the victims of a racist criminal justice system. We should not be surprised when that belief, so constantly inflamed, erupts into violence.

Even in his remarks at the memorial service for the five murdered Dallas cops, Obama had the gall to trot out his usual racial vendetta against the police, even though he was fully on notice that cops were being killed because of it:

Sheriff Clarke Goes on the Record About His Private Meeting With Donald Trump

I n an interview on Fox News, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke revealed that he had a private meeting with Donald Trump to discuss the issue of public safety.
Sheriff Clarke said:
“I just wanted to give him an idea of what it’s like on ground level. That’s where I’m at.
I’m in the trenches.
I’m at street level. I’m meeting and dealing with people who are looking for safer neighborhoods and safer schools on a daily basis. I know what their needs are, what their wants are.”

Poll Suggests Rick Perry Could Beat Ted Cruz in 2018

Former Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz

A new poll suggests there is at least one fellow Republican who could unseat U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018: Rick Perry.

The former Texas governor would beat Cruz by 9 percentage points, according to the forthcoming survey from the Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling. Set to be released later today, the poll found Perry would get 46 percent of the vote and Cruz 37 percent, with 18 percent saying they are not sure whom they would support.

Perry is the only challenger that PPP tested who would defeat Cruz.

A Southern Political Economy vs. American State Capitalism

 John Taylor

General Lee was a soldier and leader of men, not a politician. Although several of his decisions as soldier had an important political impact in American history, he seldom discussed such matters. An exception is his correspondence with the British historian Acton shortly after the war. Acton had spent a long career studying how constitutional liberty had gradually developed as an antidote to arbitrary central power. Writing sympathetically to Lee, Acton said that he regarded the defeat of the Confederacy as a setback in the progress of liberty. Lee replied:
“I yet believe that the maintenance of the rights and authority reserved to the states and to the people, not only essential to the adjustment and balance of the general system, but the safeguard to the continuance of free government. I consider it as the chief source of stability to our political system, whereas the consolidation of the states into one vast republic, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of that ruin which has overwhelmed all those that have preceded it. “
The mission of the Abbeville Institute is to explore what is true and useful in the Southern tradition that may be of benefit to the United States today. I wish we could ask the reverse question: What can the United States do for the South? But that has never even been considered.

Burns Chronicles No 24 To Plea, or, Not To Plea

 white-flag-surrender-question

As some of those staunch defenders of our rights, in both Burns, Oregon, and Bunkerville, Nevada, decide to make a plea agreement with the prosecutors, the Internet has both armchair quarterbacks damning them and sympathetic supporters who will stand by their decision.  However, perhaps it is necessary to look a little deeper into who those people, at both the Ranch and Refuge are, and to consider their respective objectives.

We can categorize those who participated in both events by comparing them to those who stood up against the British, 240 years ago.  In so doing, there are three general categories, so that we can consider them in a contemporary context.

The first category is, for want of a better term, the politicos.  Historically, these would be those who served on local and Provincial Committees of Safety and, those who went to Philadelphia and served in the Continental Congress.  There may be others, such as newspaper editors and others who were outspoken against the British, so that we can lump them into this category, as well.

Now, in the past two years, we have, likewise, the politicos, those whose involvement is to challenge the government concerning both rights and that which should be right.  Their objective is educational as well as political, desiring to provide understanding to other citizens as well as to attempt to get the government to stay within its limits and to remain obedient to the Constitution.

The second category is those with military inclinations.  For the most part, they had prior military and leadership experience in the French and Indian wars.  Their purpose was to use military force to protect the rights of Englishmen and defend against forces thrown against them.

One Way To Fight Back–Sue The SOB’s

https://timdesmondblog.files.wordpress.com/2014/10/family-tim-fresno-fair-2014.jpg

Just yesterday (August 16th) someone sent me an article from the Courthouse News Service http://www.courthousenews.com written by Elizabeth Warmerdam about an artist in California suing the state for barring Confederate flags. The article notes:

“California’s ban on state agencies selling or displaying items showing the Confederate flag is unconstitutional, says an artist who was not allowed to show his Civil War painting at the Fresno County Fair…Timothy Desmond sued the state on Monday, claiming the law prevents him from displaying his artwork at the Big Fresno Fair, operated by the 21st District Agricultural  Association on land owned by Fresno County. Artists display their work at the Fresno Fair every October. Desmond says the law violates the First Amendment.” One thing you have to understand here, the First Amendment only applies if we are not talking about Confederate flags or symbols.  In their case it does not apply–the law of government censorship in regard to anything Confederate then becomes the state and national standard.
