“Contextualizing” History

Statement about the “slavery the sole cause of the war” plaque affixed to the Confederate soldier monument in Gainesville, Florida.

I have been asked to comment on the recent fad of “contextualizing” historic monuments as it relates to the Confederate soldiers’ memorial at Gainesville.

What I have seen of the proposed plaque amounts, it seems to me, to an attempt to revise history and to establish an official version of history.

An historical monument should be taken for what it is. Opinions may differ about it, but it is a piece of history in itself. The Confederate soldiers’ monument was erected by people who wanted to remember their kin and neighbors who had fought and died opposing what was a quite vicious and destructive invasion. A third of the Florida men opposing invasion died—a fact that was of heavy significance to the people who erected the monument. The cost of the monument in 1904 was no doubt a considerable sacrifice to people still living in poverty brought on by the war.

Globalists Are Building An Army Of Millennials To Destroy Sovereignty

Back in October of 2016 I covered an issue which I have been very concerned with for over a year now. In an article titled Global Elites Are Getting Ready To Blame You For The Coming Financial Crash, I outlined the basis for my belief that Donald Trump would win the U.S. election and why the U.K. Brexit was allowed to meet with success. Here is a quote from that article to give you a general sense of my position:
“I argue that the Trump tapes will be forgotten in a week and that they have no bearing whatsoever on the election. They are nothing more than bread and circus. Beyond the fact that really, almost no one cares what Trump said a decade ago. I argue that this election has already been decided. I argue that the globalists want Trump in office, just as they wanted the passage of the Brexit. I argue that they need conservative movements to feel as though we have won, so that they can pull the rug out from under us in the near future. I argue that we are being set up.

Teresa Sue Update

Good morning Brock,

I just thought I would visit with you a bit because I was thinking of you this past Memorial Day weekend.

We attended a Civil War battle re-enactment this weekend.  It was just west of Fairchild AFB. which is west of Spokane, WA.

Someone bought a place and named it Deep Creek Farms and they must belong to the re-enactment club.  Here is the link:

http://spokanecivilwar.com/#nil

Anyway, when I passed a chalk board with VMI written on it (it was in the CSA camp) I thought of you and chuckled.

The re-enactment was pretty sparse compared with the descriptions of re-enactments back where they actually happened, but it was still fun.

On other fronts, I have strawberries putting on blossoms, cherry trees, still in pots, waiting to be planted, putting on blossoms and more work than I will be able to finish this summer.

We're getting ready to move back into the shop so we can lay the hardwood floor in the apt., so it'll be back to glorified camping.

Glad you made it home safely, take care,

As in the Allied powers of WWII.  Steven Crowder takes a break from writing comedy for his channel to do a video on the attack in Manchester last night .

Like most of us, I'm sickened by the murder of innocents in the UK; this time young girls.  Apparently a venue full of girls in the (I've read) 10 to 20 age group was chosen as a way to outrage westerners, because in their minds if some "westerner" goes and kills a random mooslim, that will cause the so-called "moderate" mooslims to endorse Isis and cause the battle for the end of the world they're trying to create.  That it's a sick, twisted view of the world is an understatement.

Crowder wrote an accompanying piece for the Blaze with some highlights.
If you want to practice Islam in the inconsequential, semi-secular sense. Fine. But the only way to solve this problem is to recognize that POLITICAL Islam and anyone who follows its prescription is inherently incompatible with Western values.

That means:
  • Want sharia courts?  You’re not welcome.
  • Think it’s okay to marry a six year old?  You’re not welcome.
  • Think it’s okay to strike your wife for ANY reason?  You’re not welcome.
  • Believe in ANY kind of punishment for apostasy?  You’re not welcome.
  • Believe in ANY kind of punishment for “blasphemy”?  You’re not welcome.
  • Overpopulation Hoax: The greatest threat to mankind's prosperity is government, not population growth.

    Via Billy

In 1798, Thomas Malthus wrote "An Essay on the Principle of Population." He predicted that mankind's birthrate would outstrip our ability to grow food and would lead to mass starvation.

Malthus' wrong predictions did not deter Stanford University professor Paul Ehrlich from making a similar prediction. In his 1968 best-seller, "The Population Bomb," which has sold more than 2 million copies, Ehrlich warned: "The battle to feed all of humanity is over. In the 1970s and 1980s hundreds of millions of people will starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now." This hoax resulted in billions of dollars being spent to fight overpopulation.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes said Wednesday Democrats have prevented a panel investigating Russia's interference in the 2016 election from conducting a single witness interview.

Nunes also announced the panel in the coming days is likely to subpoena the FBI, CIA and National Security Agency for information that would reveal who "unmasked" classified information damaging to President Trump's administration.

Nunes, R-Calif., recused himself from the House Intelligence panel probe into alleged links between Trump and Russia.

But he said the panel has not conducted any interviews in part because Democrats aren't cooperating.

Tuesday night, James Woolsey, CIA Director under President Bill Clinton, commented on CNN:
“There are a lot of things I think have been disclosed too much and I think that is the real scandal here . . . So much disclosed, it makes it hard for the secrecy that’s essential to the operation of the U.S. government in these areas to continue, and I think the people who have broken these tacit and formal agreements and taken classified information and turned it loose are basically traitors to the country.”
Regarding the Kushner-Russia “backchannel” talk, Woolsey, who helped advise the Trump transition team following the election, stated that there isn’t anything suspicious about setting up a backchannel.
“I don’t see anything untoward about having backchannel communications as long as you’re doing it accurately and within the confines, essentially, of what your superiors have asked of you . . . People have backchannel communications all the time.”

President Trump on Wednesday criticized the FBI's investigation into ties between Trump campaign associates and Russia, calling the investigation a "witch hunt" after Carter Page, a former Trump adviser, said the FBI and CIA are not telling the truth about his role.

"So now it is reported that the Democrats, who have excoriated Carter Page about Russia, don't want him to testify. He blows away their case against him & now wants to clear his name by showing 'the false or misleading testimony by James Comey, John Brennan... Witch Hunt!" Trump said in two separate tweets, referencing former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan.

Page served as Trump's foreign policy adviser and was reportedly under investigation by the FBI for his contacts with Russia.

In a letter to the House Intelligence Committee on Monday, Page said there has been an "ongoing barrage of false information" spread about him over the last three months, and said he wants to testify as quickly as possible.

Hank Williams and the Elusive Redneck

Like it or not, the most lasting symbol of the South is the Redneck. My eight-year-old son thinks General Lee is a car; many of my students don’t know in what century the War Between the States was fought, although they are quick to tell me that it was fought to free the slaves. Mention industrialization, tariffs, or States rights, and their faces go blank. God only knows what Yankees think. They used to insist that the South should forget the past and rejoin the Union. Now that the South is doing just that, they are howling for congressional action to stop the downward flow of industry and technology. For a while the term Dixie conjured up the image of a poor suffering black, but now that a few federal judges have ordered busing and enforced affirmative action guidelines North of the Mason-Dixon line, Northerners are becoming more balanced in their attitude toward the South.

But the Redneck endures. From Longstreet’s rogues and conmen and roughnecks and Twain’s rapscallions to Faulkner’s Snopses and Huey Long’s woolhats and Al Capp’s bumpkins and O’Connor’s fiercely realistic updating of Huck Finn, the Redneck remains the salt of the Southern earth, a race apart, whether he works in the carpet mills in Dalton, Georgia, or in the automobile factories in Detroit or in the aircraft plants on the West Coast.

Scientists Map The Genome Of Ancient Egyptian Kings, And They Weren’t From Africa

    Via Billy

The first ever genetic analysis of mummies found that ancient Egyptian kings were more closely related to West Asians than Africans, according to a study published Tuesday by scientists at the Max Planck Institute.

The research found that ancient Egyptians were most closely related to Neolithic Levantine, Anatolian and European populations. The mummies tested did not share strong genetic links to Africa often found in modern Egyptians.

“This suggests that an increase in Sub-Saharan African gene flow into Egypt occurred within the last 1,500 years,” Wolfgang Haak, who led the research team, said in a statement.

“The genetics of the Abusir el-Meleq community did not undergo any major shifts during the 1,300 year timespan we studied, suggesting that the population remained genetically relatively unaffected by foreign conquest and rule,” Haak said.

    They're already fools......:)

There's a sucker born every minute, goes the old saying, and several hundred of them gathered at Wellesley College last Thursday to cheer Hillary Clinton as she rehashed, complained about and justified her electoral loss by saying in different ways over and over that she is simply too good for this world. Seriously, just how addled does one have to be to take this nepot and parasite as an inspiration for women, and as a model of how one should build her career?

To follow Clinton's career path, one has to first attack then-Sen. Edward Brooke, R-Mass., at your graduation from Wellesley. Second, proceed to Yale Law School to meet and marry a skilled politician. Third, follow him home to suppress bimbo eruptions and otherwise serve as first lady of Arkansas. And fourth, wait for the day he's elected as president, so that you are first lady for real.

The U.S. military started sending equipment and weapons to Kurdish parts of the Syrian Democratic Forces, according to a report Tuesday.

President Trump approved a plan to provide weapons and ammunition to Syrian Kurdish fighters earlier this month, and the Pentagon said the move signaled the Syrian Democratic Forces would attempt to re-take Raqqa, the self-proclaimed capital of the Islamic State.

An influential left-wing think tank has called for the government to create millions of jobs for those without a college degree, leading to headlines like The Nation’s declaration that “It’s Time for the Government to Give Everyone a Job.”

One fatal flaw of such a plan was exposed in the comments section of that article, when a commentator named Ira Dember pointed out the perverse incentives that would result if the government guaranteed jobs to only those without a college degree.

Namely, that there is little incentive to undertake the expense of going to college in the hopes of finding employment, when the government will guarantee employment to only those who choose to eschew higher education!

    HEROES OF TODAY

     http://sgtreport.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Bundy-SGT.jpg

It was a snowy day in Oregon
People gathered to march and pray
    For a simple Ranching Family
    Who were being sent away

    By a group of politicians
Who have lied, entrapped and seized
    The land of our Inheritance
    For their own families

The greed, the pain the sorrow
    Caused us all to mourn
    For the Ranching Hammond Family
    Our loyalty was torn

    Do we just follow orders?
And obey the Laws they make?
    Even though Unconstitutional
Or a Hard Stand will we Take?

    There arose a valiant soldier
One who dared to take a stand
To try to make the difference
    And protect his fellow man.

There was pleading to the Sheriff
    A Redress of Grievance Filed
Though tens of thousands signed it
    Ignored, left in a pile.

How could the Judge and Jury
    Convict the innocent men
    Who already served a sentence
    Now were sentenced once again?

    Where is our Constitution?
    Where are our soldiers true?
Who fought the land of England
For Freedom for me and you?

To the Refuge we did travel
    America must understand
It would have to be dynamic
To get the Press to be on hand.

There had been a Battle at Bunkerville
    Just a couple years before
    When many Federal Agents
    Hired Contract Cowboys and more

    To assault the Bundy family
Steal their Cattle and their land
    To make a real example
Of those who dared to Stand

    Against the Federal Government
    Who’ve become the Tyrants wild
Hip chucked your Aunt and sister
Then attacked and tazed your child

    The people in this Nation
     Couldn’t take it any more
As they watched in awful horror
    Is America again at War?

    Brave people began to travel
Thousands of miles it was for some
    They would stand united, together
    Selflessly, protecting the One!

With love and faith and courage
From the world, the cry arose
And “We The People” bowed our heads
    Our Father we imposed

    We faced the Federal Army
They were Armed from head to toe
    Defending Stolen Cattle
    From American’s they didn’t know

Backing down was not an option
We would wait ‘til they were gone
    As the Sheriff and politicians
    Realized that they were wrong

With the Sheriff’s as their escorts
    All the Agents in retreat
    The Bundy Family Cowboys followed
    As their cattle were released

    The New American Hero
Was the cry in all the West!
Cliven had been preaching for years
    “The Constitution is the BEST!”

    Now with undercover agents
    Their deceitfulness and lies
    There are many men entrapped
Our own people used as spies

    They feared the Bundy Family
Would teach us our Natural Rights
    Afforded by  Constitution
    Americans would stand and fight

    LaVoy was the best student
    Of the Constitution class
His voice rang strong and true
    They couldn’t let him pass

They called it all a Virus
    Spreading across this land
And they weren’t about to let it
So they landed a heavy hand.

I was there to be a witness
    Ryan Payne stood to defend
    Bullets flying furiously
    We thought would never end.

    LaVoy was trying to decoy
    The bullets from the Truck
Where they’d set a kill box
4’ ft. snow the truck was stuck.

    Trapped inside we witnessed
    LaVoy shot in deep snow
    Three bullets in his back
He had no place to go

    Bullets pierced the cab
    Ryan Bundy catching one
    In his right shoulder only
We had no place to run

    Kidnapped without a warrant
    Hauled to a Federal Jail
    Secluded from friends and Family
    Being held without a bail

    Threatened, Starved and Tortured
    Solitary and confined
    Strip searches done continuously
    So many people blind

This Country was made by Heroes
Who dared to take a stand
    Against an oppressive Government
That’s how we won this land

    There are still many heroes
    Fighting for our Liberty
And without the Hand of God
    Our Freedom’s would not be

New revelations come almost by the minute in the Trump-Russia affair. The White House moves into full-defense mode. The Trump agenda stalls on Capitol Hill.

A reasonable observer might conclude that is all that is happening in the Trump administration. But even as those troubles fill news sites and cable TV, administration officials are quietly moving ahead on one of the president's top campaign promises: the construction of a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. Although it hasn't received much attention relative to the president's many problems, extensive planning for the wall is under way, officials are evaluating specific proposals, sites are being studied, and yes, there is money available to get going.
