FBI report finds officers ‘de-policing’ as anti-cop hostility becomes ‘new norm’

An unclassified FBI study on last year’s cop-killing spree found officers are “de-policing” amid concerns that anti-police defiance fueled in part by movements like Black Lives Matter has become the “new norm.”

“Departments — and individual officers — have increasingly made the decision to stop engaging in proactive policing,” said the report by the FBI Office of Partner Engagement obtained by The Washington Times.

The report, “Assailant Study — Mindsets and Behaviors,” said that the social-justice movement sparked by the 2014 death of 18-year-old Michael Brown at the hands of an officer in Ferguson, Missouri, “made it socially acceptable to challenge and discredit the actions of law enforcement.”
FBI spokesman Matthew Bertron said the study was written in April.

“Nearly every police official interviewed agreed that for the first time, law enforcement not only felt that their national political leaders [publicly] stood against them, but also that the politicians’ words and actions signified that disrespect to law enforcement was acceptable in the aftermath of the Brown shooting,” the study said.

  1. I think the police should try de-policing for a while. Maybe something like 6 months. Some neighborhoods won't notice the difference, because people there tend to behave themselves by choice.

Other neighborhoods... well, let's just see, why don't we.

Then, at the end of the 6 months, we should compare before and after stats by zipcode.

  3. Where's that "liberal", that "first black president" when you need him?

"When we got organized as a country and we wrote a fairly radical Constitution with a radical Bill of Rights, giving a radical amount of individual freedom to Americans ... And so a lot of people say there's too much personal freedom. When personal freedom's being abused, you have to move to limit it. That's what we did in the announcement I made last weekend on the public housing projects, about how we're going to have weapon sweeps and more things like that to try to make people safer in their communities." --Bill Clinton

    1. Don't remember that. How times have changed. JFK would be a right wing radical these days.

  4. Anyone with a brain saw this coming. Politicians demonize police for doing their jobs. Officers charged with crimes, with no proof. Prosecutors charging police officers, and allowing the criminals to walk away. I agree with one of the above statements. Those neighborhood that find police so objectionable, should go a few months without them. Put up a police wall around them and let them go to hell.

And Brock's mention of JFK. Listen to some of JFK's speeches and see how much Trump sounds the same.

  5. While looking up that quote, I also read that a Federal judge actually ruled against Clinton on that as a 4th Amendment violation. I wasn't supporting Clinton's unconstitutional methods. Just pointing out "how times have changed". Imagine the outrage if Trump did the same. And yes, JFK, who was basically a "classic liberal" would be considered a "right wing radical", an alt-right isolationist now, and a Ron Paul type "kook" since he actually signed an executive order for the Treasury Dept to print $5 Billion in United States Notes backed by silver ( I have two in my possession) which would've eventually displaced the Federal Reserve Notes of the private banking cartel which controls our money. The "powers that be" couldn't let that happen! Sorry, off on a tangent there--Ron W
