Gregg Allman, Southern Rock Pioneer, Dies at 69

Gregg Allman, whose hard-jamming, bluesy sextet the Allman Brothers Band was the pioneering unit in the Southern rock explosion of the ‘70s, died Saturday due to complications from liver cancer, his longtime manager, Michael Lehman, confirmed to Variety. He was 69.

As recently as April 24, reports surfaced claiming Allman was in hospice, although Lehman denied those reports, which Allman then substantiated in a Facebook post. However, he had suffered a number of ailments in recent years — including an irregular heartbeat, a respiratory infection, a hernia and a liver transplant — and cancelled many scheduled tour dates in recent months for health reasons. Lehman said that Allman’s liver cancer recurred around five years ago, but the singer chose to keep the news private.

Allman completed a solo album, “Southern Blood,” that is set for release late this year.

Slavery in Connecticut

“Connecticut conducted another census in 1774. With a population of 4863, Fairfield was the eleventh largest town in Connecticut in 1774. The 4863 persons included 4544 whites and 319 blacks, giving Fairfield the highest percentage of black population in the colony.

Fairfield’s growing trade encouraged the growth of its black population. Approximately three out of every four blacks in Fairfield in the 1770’s were slaves. Most of them were men who worked as laborers or household servants; a smaller number of women were household servants; and even a smaller number were children.

Most slaves were denied the pleasure of residing, with or without the benefit of marriage, with a member of the opposite sex. Captain David Judson owned a married couple and their child, but more typical was Hezekiah Gold, who owned four men, “a wench,” a young man, and two boys. Slavery was a luxury that Fairfield came to afford as it became more affluent. Most free blacks in Fairfield worked as laborers, either on the docks or on board ship.”

FBI probing attempted hack of Trump Organization

The FBI is investigating an attempted overseas cyberattack against the Trump Organization, summoning President Donald Trump’s sons, Don Jr. and Eric, for an emergency session with the bureau’s cybersecurity agents and representatives of the CIA, officials tell ABC News. 

Law enforcement officials who spoke to ABC News on the condition of anonymity confirmed the attempted hack and said the subsequent meeting took place at the FBI’s New York headquarters on May 8, the day before Trump fired FBI director James Comey. Spokesmen for the FBI, CIA and Secret Service all declined to comment. 

Reached by phone, Eric Trump, an executive vice president of the family company, would not confirm or deny that he and his brother had met with the FBI but told ABC News that the company had ultimately not been infiltrated. 

“We absolutely weren’t hacked,” Eric Trump said during the brief call. “That’s crazy. We weren’t hacked, I can tell you that.”

Amid ongoing turmoil at Fox News, an internal battle appears to be brewing between top executives and one of the last remaining vestiges of the lineup that made the network a powerhouse in cable news — Sean Hannity.

Hannity has gone “underground” and is actively considering whether or not he will return to Fox News on Tuesday, a source close to Hannity told Independent Journal Review. It's a stunning development at the network, which has seemingly remained in a constant state of turmoil since the ouster of the late Roger Ailes.

County votes to offer ‘Old Joe’ to United Daughters of Confederacy

The Confederate statue in downtown Gainesville commonly known as “Old Joe” will have a chance to become the property of the group that installed it more than 100 years ago.

The Alachua County Commission voted 4-1 Tuesday, with Commissioner Lee Pinkoson voting no, to donate the statue to the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the group that had the statue built in 1904. The commission also voted to replace the statue with a piece of art that “represents the shared values” of Alachua County residents.

The commission will give the United Daughters of the Confederacy 60 days to decide if it wants the statue, and the group would have to pay for its removal.

Sources refute claim that Nash Farm Battlefield ‘undocumented

In July 2005, the Nash Farm Battlefield property was purchased by Henry County with the intent to serve as “a valuable cultural, historical and educational resource and protect and preserve greenspace,” according to the resolution authorizing condemnation of the property.

The 207-acre parcel was purchased for $8.2 million via eminent domain. The resolution notes the property was the site of battles and encampments during the Civil War “which has significant cultural and historical value and should be preserved for future generations.”

Since its purchase, the site has hosted numerous events including re-enactments, living history programs, weddings and holiday celebrations.

In February 2011, Friends of Nash Farm Battlefield, an all-volunteer group, opened the Nash Farm Battlefield Museum on the property. It housed a collection of artifacts unearthed on the property and numerous exhibits telling the story of the Nash family and the battle fought on Nash Farm and surrounding locations.

Here is updated analysis of the most recent so called ‘leaks’ being reported and repeated by the liberal mainstream media (MSM) involving President Trump.  The probability that a portion of these ‘leaks’ are completely inaccurate remains very high. 

The leaks are all being reported by biased liberal media outlets that were adamantly opposed to the election of President Trump.

These ‘leaks’ in all cases still are not supported with any names of so-called sources and in all cases the ‘leaks’ are meant to destroy the current President.

Former FBI Director James Comey reportedly made statements that were revealed in the media ‘leaks’ but to this date he has not corroborated any of the statements he reportedly made after his firing. . Comey was scheduled to go in front of Congress this past week but instead asked to reschedule so he could first talk to Comey’s predecessor at the FBI, Robert Mueller, who is now the appointed Russia Investigation Special Council.

Hopefully Comey’s discussion with Mueller was recorded.

Media Loves New Orleans Mayor Still Fighting Civil War

As the Robert E. Lee monument was being removed last Friday, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu gave a victory speech to a select group of supporters at Gallier Hall, ironically, a former slave auction house.

In the last week, the speech received lavish praise from the liberal media, both locally and nationally. Landrieu received glowing tributes throughout the mainstream news media, from the pages of the liberal Times Picayune in New Orleans to the editorial page of the liberal New York Times.

In fact, on Sunday, Landrieu will achieve the ultimate award bestowed to a liberal politician, an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press.

Surely, partisan Democrat host Chuck Todd will shower Landrieu with praise for having the “courage” to dethrone the four nasty, symbols of white supremacy. Unfortunately, he will probably not ask the Mayor about many of the city’s ongoing problems and unanswered questions.

North Carolina’s Ocracoke Island has the third best beach in America, according to a national beach researcher.

According to Dr. Stephen Leatherman, a professor at Florida International University who also is known as “Dr. Beach,” Ocracoke Lifeguarded Beach on the Outer Banks is a stand out in his survey of the 650 public beaches in the U.S.

He says: “Ocracoke, once the home of Blackbeard the pirate, is still a special place—it is my favorite getaway beach.

Henry commissioners on Confederate flag flap: We’re working on it

The Henry County Commission said today that it is looking into the closing of a museum on a county-owned Confederate battlefield, a closure that has roiled the county.

“Many are aware of an issue which has caused the Friends of Nash Farm to announce that their museum will close on June 1st,” the commissioners wrote in the statement. “This has caused much divisiveness and controversy in our county. As we continue to hear from concerned citizens, please know that we will continue to explore the facts more fully before giving our input on how to proceed to address this issue.”

The commissioners asked for citizen input, but only expressed “in a respectful manner.”

Comments across social media have been anything but civil since the Nash Farm Battlefield Museum closed its doors for good this week.

Leftist Attack Targeting Advertisers On Hannity Show Boomerangs Against MSNBC Liberal Shows

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

It appears the the zeal on the left to get Sean Hannity has boomeranged to hurt some of their own.

Media Matters had been leading an effort to have advertisers pull out of Hannity’s show. So far nine have pulled out, including the financial services company USAA, which sells insurance and other products to members of the U.S. military.

When USAA pulled out, they claimed that they didn’t advertise on opinion shows like Hannity.
However, they got nailed by Media Research Center.
