NFL Favorability Crashes & Did Raiders Throw Game?

“This is one hell of a scandal with the NFL, could ruin the whole league,” claimed the show before detailing the fact that Carr was sacked two times in a row on the teams second drive and that the team’s usually dependable center snapped the ball at the wrong time in three different instances. Extremely capable receivers also made multiple “weird” drops of passes thrown by Carr that T.V. announcers even noted at the time.
According to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll, the National Football League is seen as more unfavorable than ever before.
"The NFL's net favorability has dropped from 30% on September 21 to 17% on September 28," the poll shows.

A popular Washington area restaurant facing a boycott for turning NFL games off because of player protests is getting the support of the nation's sheriffs.

The National Sheriffs' Association told Secrets that it is going to pay the check of any law enforcement officer's meal at Fat Tuesday's in Fairfax, Va.

Michael Brown: FEMA, the media and disaster victims — Why the cavalry is never fast enough

Imagine two lines starting in opposite corners and moving toward each other at a 45 degree angle.

One line represents the beginning of a federal and state response to a disaster. The other line represents the frustration level of people impacted by the disaster.

As the response phase begins and moves along a crescendo to full response, people are simultaneously growing in frustration because they lack power, water, food, shelter. The key is to have the response move faster than the frustration level.

But what causes a response to move slower than the increase in individuals’ frustrations?

Let’s look at Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Hurricane Maria damaged or destroyed virtually all of the infrastructure, including the power grid, water treatment plants, ice plants, ports, docks, runways, air traffic control systems. Every system you need to respond to the disaster has been damaged or destroyed.

Thousands of people gather at the final pro-independence rally at Plaza Espana tonight ahead of Sunday's referendum vote in Barcelona

Hundreds of tractors rolled into Barcelona to protect polling stations ahead of the 'banned' Catalan independence referendum this Sunday.

Striking images capture the moment more than 500 of the heavy vehicles were driven in to protect the '2,315 polling stations all over the region' - intended for the referendum that is said to have been banned by officials in Madrid.

Independence supporters, many wearing the colours of FC Barcelona or flying the estelada flag clung from the tractors in a loud, forceful show of strength.

Catalans occupy polling stations ahead of contested vote

Supporters of an independence referendum in Catalonia opposed by Madrid occupied would-be polling stations on Friday in a bid to ensure the vote goes ahead, as thousands gathered in Barcelona for the separatist camp's closing campaign.

In one of the biggest crises to hit Spain since democracy was restored after the death of Franco in 1975, the referendum has pitched the wealthy northeastern region against central government and sown divisions among Catalans themselves.

NFL: 'Bunch of Surly, Sullen, Spoiled Babies'

Looking exactly like the bunch of surly, sullen, spoiled babies they are, during Thursday night’s NFL game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears, the players might have all chosen to be muscle-bound pouters while locking arms, but… BUT!… those very same surly, sullen, spoiled babies were all standing for the “Star-Spangled Banner.”

Same thing happened Monday. They locked arms. They pouted. But the Dallas Cowboys all stood for the national anthem.

As far as Sunday goes, the Pittsburgh Steelers have already reassured their justifiably enraged fans that when the national anthem plays, the team will stand.

If these overgrown toddlers all need to lock arms and hold on to one another like scared little Care Bears, no one cares. If locking arms is how they choose to show unity or fight for equality or raise awareness or whatever the dumb, little SJW cause is this week, no one cares.

The backlash against these crybabies, which is still growing, has only ever been about one thing —  disrespecting the American flag. We know this because it is simply a fact that when you do not stand for the national anthem, you are, by definition, disrespecting the flag.

We also know this because Colin Kaepernick, the anti-American, cop-hater who set the indefensible precedent of taking a knee during the national anthem, told us so. There was no ambiguity from the burnt-out, former 49er on this issue. He told us flat out, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”

NFL players suddenly choosing to respect the flag as opposed to spitting on it, is a victory for President Trump, who spoke for tens of millions of Americans last week when he lashed out against these selfish whiners. It is perfectly appropriate for the American president to defend the American flag against breathtakingly ungrateful millionaires.

Until Trump spoke up, all these bubbled infants heard was praise from bubbled infants in the sports and political media, acclaim for how brave they are, plaudits for their wokedness… And all this from the very same sports and political media that mercilessly ridiculed Tim Tebow for taking his own kind of knee.

Once again, Trump did what he does like no other: reminded us normal people that we are not alone in our beliefs and in our outrage. Once again, he punctured through the media’s false reality, a false reality that justified the indefensible, and once again we normal people stood up for ourselves and for our country. And maybe, just maybe, we have finally put a stop to this particular outrage.

Regardless, the  damage the NFL has done to itself will last for years.

This entire debacle is the mother of all unforced corporate errors…

And who will ever forget or forgive the fact that the only form of self-expression the NFL allows its player, is to hate on America.

I know I won’t.

Ever.

The Radical Republicans: The Antifa of 1865

“Anybody who would trash Lee and laud Lincoln is either stupid as a post or just plain evil,” said a sage reader. This applies in spades to anyone who would laud the Radical Republicans of 1865, as one TV GOP blonde has recently, and asininely, done.

The Radical Republicans, if you can believe it, considered Abraham Lincoln a moderate (a bad thing, in their book). Lincoln successor Andrew Johnson these fanatics branded a reactionary (punishable by obstruction and impeachment).

Praised these days by the blonde-ambition faction of the Republican Party, the Radicals were stars of America’s own Reign of Terror over the South, at the end of the War Between the States.

If the French Reign of Terror was led by the terrifying Robespierre and his Jacobins; its American equivalent was infused with the spirit of lunatics like John Brown. (His abolitionist activists snatched five pro-slavery settlers near Pottawatomie Creek, in 1856, and split the captives’ skulls with broadswords, in an act of biblical retribution gone mad.)

Yet Another Major Russia Story Falls Apart. Is Skepticism Permissible Yet?

Via Wes

Last Friday, most major media outlets touted a major story about Russian attempts to hack into U.S. voting systems, based exclusively on claims made by the Department of Homeland Security.

“Russians attempted to hack elections systems in 21 states in the run-up to last year’s presidential election, officials said Friday,” began the USA Today story, similar to how most other outlets presented this extraordinary claim.

IG: Secret Service Retaliated Against Whistleblower Who Accused Managers of Abusing Authority

Via Billy

The Secret Service retaliated against a whistleblower who waged a five-year battle with the agency, accusing senior managers of abusing their authority and fabricating charges against him because he spoke out against their alleged mismanagement, according to the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general.

After a two-and-a-half-year investigation, the DHS OIG issued a report Tuesday concluding that the Secret Service retaliated against Robert MacQueen, a 24-year veteran agent who had served in several prestigious assignments, multiple times by revoking his security clearance and keeping him on unpaid leave for more than three years while he fought the false charges.

FBI Stats Demolish NFL Protest Narrative

Via Billy

The Black Lives Matter fairy tale that police use black Americans for target practice took another hit as new FBI statistics showed the black homicide rate is skyrocketing and that cops had nothing to do with it.

Apart from the FBI data, four separate studies were published last year refuting the claim that police shootings are racially-biased, but facts often have little effect on committed left-wingers who hate America. Democrats, whose party officially endorsed the violent, subversive Black Lives Matter movement, won’t allow their bubbles to be burst by hard evidence, no matter how persuasive.

Although police, who are routinely demonized by left-wingers nowadays, don’t run extrajudicial anti-black death squads, as the radicals claim, the Left will no doubt find creative ways to dismiss the new FBI study.

“Contrary to the Black Lives Matter narrative, the police have much more to fear from black males than black males have to fear from the police,” writes Heather Mac Donald, Thomas W. Smith Fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a contributing editor at City Journal.

The Tragedy of the PBS-Ken Burns Version of the Vietnam War

Via Jonathan

 http://i2.cdn.cnn.com/cnnnext/dam/assets/140618113403-13-iconic-vietnam-war-restricted-horizontal-large-gallery.jpg
My own views on the Vietnam war haven't changed much in the intervening half-century, since my assignment in Vietnam with Special Forces, but I am called, today, a "revisionist" by some who have never served our country.  I have subsequently learned, thanks in part to Burns's history, that a "revisionist" is anyone who opposes the Communist Party line, so I guess I can live with that.

Ken Burns, in his new PBS series, correctly points to the Vietnam War as a source of the polarization in our society today.  And he correctly urges us to revisit, understand, and come to grips with details making up that history through civil (as opposed to raucous) discourse.  He apparently believes he is presenting a fair picture of that history and that if we see it as the "tragedy" he paints, we will align our views with his so as to restore a more cohesive society.

RSC chairman: McConnell should call it a career

The chairman of the Republican Study Committee says Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) should step down as majority leader.

“I think he’s a huge part of the problem,” Rep. Mark Walker (R-N.C.) told NBC News, comparing McConnell to the manager of a losing baseball team.

He noted that usually when a team goes on a bad losing streak, it’s the manager, not the players, who is fired.

“There’s a growing consensus that would be very happy if the fine senator from Kentucky called it a career,” Walker told NBC.

Walker leads a group of 150 conservative House GOP lawmakers.

Picture of man kneeling during taps at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is sparking outrage following NFL protests Featured

A photo that has gone viral while circulating among the online military community shows a man at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, kneeling down on one knee reportedly during the playing of taps, and is sweeping across America, outraging thousands.
“Taps” is a bugle call played at dusk, during flag ceremonies, and at military funerals by the United States armed forces and is regularly played at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Not standing for Taps is incredibly disrespectful.

The picture is sparking intense outrage on social media. It is unclear exactly why the man seen in the photo is kneeling during taps while everyone else is standing, but most people online are assuming it is in protest.
