 Pathetic POS

A Florida woman is grieving the loss of her husband Army Sgt. La David Johnson. She's thinking about the orphaned children her husband left behind, probably wondering how she will parent a six-year-old, a toddler, and an unborn child who will never know her father.

But down in Florida, Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson is enjoying her newfound fame after she politicized the president's call to the widow. According to a local news report, Wilson is even laughing.

"You mean to tell me that I've become so important that the White House is following me and my words?" she said laughing, according to a report by Miami 7 News. "This is amazing. That's amazing. I'll have to tell my kids that I'm a rock star now."

1st Lt. Robert M. Kelly, U.S. Marine Corps, was the son of White House chief of staff John Kelly.

But as a Marine infantry officer, 1st Lt. Kelly would want us to remember the men who fought and died alongside him. So here are the names and stories of those Marines killed in action during the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines deployment to Helmand province, Afghanistan, 2010-2011.

1st Lt. William Donnelly commissioned as a Marine officer in June 2008 and "was the best husband, son, brother, uncle and friend anyone had."

Conservatives Plan to Send Patriotic Message, Boycott NFL on Veterans Day Weekend

Main Street Patriots are rallying fellow citizens to show their support across the United States for the American flag and the national anthem on Veteran’s Day weekend as a way to send a message about the importance of standing and saluting during the playing of the national anthem at NFL football games.

The conservative group is encouraging Americans to join their Flags Across America movement next month.

“I have watched professional football since the time there were two separate leagues – AFL and NFL in the late 60’s,” Debbie Dooley, co-founder of the group told Breitbart News. “Sports has always been an arena where we are united in support of our favorite teams.”

“We are not Democrats or Republicans, we are simply fans,” Dooley said, adding that the NFL players are “seeking to change that by attempting to shove their political views down the throats of fans.”

Dooley is hoping people will fly flags everywhere over the weekend and on Veterans Day — even if it’s not in an NFL stadium.

“I urge patriotic Americans to exercise their First Amendment rights and boycott the NFL and their sponsors,” Dooley said.

“Flags Across America symbolizes Americans coming together and showing respect and honor to our nation’s flag and the freedom and liberty it symbolizes to the world,” co-founder Ralph King said. “It is also to honor the veterans that fought and died so we can maintain that freedom and liberty.”

“The U.S. flag and the freedom for which it stands, at levels never before witnessed in our country, is under constant attack from the Left and now pampered sports figures,” King said. “We cannot allow these attacks to go unanswered.”

“Now is the time to be united standing in defense and proper recognition of Old Glory,” King said.

Judging by Mueller's staffing choices, he may not be very interested in justice

Much has been written about the prosecutorial prowess of Robert Mueller’s team assembled to investigate allegations of Russia’s involvement in the Trump campaign. Little has been said of the danger of prosecutorial overreach and the true history of Mueller’s lead prosecutor.

What was supposed to have been a search for Russia’s cyberspace intrusions into our electoral politics has morphed into a malevolent mission targeting friends, family and colleagues of the president. The Mueller investigation has become an all-out assault to find crimes to pin on them — and it won’t matter if there are no crimes to be found. This team can make some.

Many Americans despise President Trump and anyone associated with him. Yet turning our system of justice into a political weapon is a danger we must guard against.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions: 'We don't have a sentencing problem, we have a crime problem'

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said that

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Thursday criminal justice reformers should focus on stopping crime instead of making reforms to the sentencing process.

"I'm afraid we don't have a sentencing problem, we have a crime problem. If we want to bring down our prison population then we should bring down crime," Sessions told a group of sheriffs in Oklahoma.

The remarks come on the heels of a letter written by law enforcement leaders urging him and President Trump to get on board with bipartisan criminal justice reform.

John Kelly Emotional White House Press Briefing: ‘Stunned and Broken Hearted" After ‘Empty Barrel’ Frederica Wilson Politicized President’s Phone Call

White House chief of staff General John Kelly sternly lectured Congressman Frederica Wilson for listening to and politicizing President Donald Trump’s phone call to the grieving widow of a slain soldier.

“It stuns me that a member of Congress would have listened in on the conversation – absolutely stuns me,” Kelly said, “And I thought at least that was sacred.”

Kelly delivered a stirring speech at the White House press briefing about the sacred duty of people serving in the military and the president’s role in comforting grieving family members and called Wilson a “selfish member of Congress” for politicizing the phone call.

He confirmed that he advised President Donald Trump about what to say to a grieving family, including the statement that a soldier knows what he signs up for when he volunteers to serve in the Army.

Kelly continued:
When I was a kid growing up I thought a lot of things were sacred in our country. Women were sacred, looked upon with great honor. That’s obviously not the case anymore as we’ve seen from recent cases. Life was sacred. That’s gone. Religion. That seems to be gone as well. Gold Star families, I think that left in the convention over the Summer. I just thought the selfless devotion that brings a man or woman to die in the battlefield, I thought that might be sacred.
He said he was so stunned by Wilson’s statements on television he went to the Arlington National Cemetery to spend time with some of the slain members of the military “some of whom I put there,” referring to his command of soldiers in Iraq.

Kelly referred to Wilson as an “empty barrel” noting that they are the ones “making the most noise.”
He recalled a callous speech he witnessed from Wilson at the dedication of an FBI field office in 2015, where she reminded everyone that she was the one that delivered the funding, while others were remembering slain FBI agents for whom the building was dedicated.

“We were stunned. Stunned that she had done it. Even for someone that is that empty a barrel, we were stunned,” Kelly said soberly. “But none of us went to the press and criticized. none of us stood up and were appalled.”

Kelly urged journalists to remember the importance of revering the institution of the military and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

“I still hope as you write your stories and I would appeal to America that let’s not let this maybe be last thing that’s held sacred in our society,” he said.

As reporters shouted questions, Kelly responded, “Is anyone here a gold star parent or sibling?”

The truth about DACA is uglier than we've been told

The truth about DACA is uglier than we've been told

The narrative surrounding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program holds that it was put in place to protect “kids” who were brought here through no fault of their own. DACA supporters implied that applicants were mostly Hispanic and that as citizens of distressed republics a short distance away from the wealthy United States, their violation of our immigration laws was somehow understandable. Program applicants were also portrayed as brilliant valedictorians and proud members of the military.

From the outset, that narrative rang hollow. In a column for the Washington Post, Mickey Kaus described it as public-relations-style “hooey.” Here’s why.

Many of the DACA “kids” were not brought here as young children. They entered the U.S. illegally as teenagers.

A large number of DACA applicants weren’t “brought” here at all. They crossed the border themselves.

Over 2,000 individuals approved for DACA had their status terminated for criminal activity ranging from alien smuggling to sexual assault. That number is still growing.

Fewer than 900 DACA recipients – or slightly more than one-tenth of one percent of the total DACA population – joined the military.

The Remnants of the Republic

The American left might be unable to investigate obvious and openly committed crimes, produce jobs, improve the economy or know which bathroom to go to with the highly limited options of "men" or "women," but they can keep a secret for decades. And, we thought Harvey Weinstein was the news of the day.

It now appears that the reason the Fast and Furious scandal and Hillary Clinton's emails couldn't be competently investigated is all of the leadership in the FBI and the Justice Department were involved in tracking the bribes, payoffs, pay for play, coercion, money-laundering and extortion associated with Russian purchase of uranium and apparently covering up the facts of the investigation to allow the uranium deal to go through.

While Jeff Sessions seems to be an affable sort of guy, that's really not what is needed here and now. This is the sort of thing that proves a government to be a banana republic; this is the sort of thing that leads to revolution.

War!?: Spain to trigger direct rule on Catalonia to crush independence bid

Via Billy

The Spanish government said Thursday it would begin the process to impose direct rule on Catalonia in an unprecedented move to crush the region's independence bid.

In a statement from Madrid, the government of Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said it would invoke Article 155 of the constitution, a provision that allows the central government to suspend the autonomy of the Catalan regional administration.

Rajoy's Cabinet will meet on Saturday to agree measures to "restore the constitutional order" in Catalonia, where a banned referendum on independence took place earlier this month. The plan will then be put before the Senate, where Rajoy's Popular Party has a majority, for approval.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan told the Hill that Doe's legal status doesn't negate her “constitutional rights,” (Amazing)

On Friday, the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit against three members of President Donald Trump's administration, including Acting Secretary of Health and Human Services Eric Hargan.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a minor who is only referred to as “Jane Doe,” who entered the country illegally without her parents and is now being restricted from having an abortion.

According to CNN, the 17-year-old is staying in a Texas shelter funded by the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement. Since she's a minor, she had to obtain permission from a judge, which she did, and CNN reported she also raised the money for the procedure.

Vietnam: The Battle for Historical Perspective: What the Ken Burns PBS Series Did Not Tell You

Via Mike

Upon learning of Diệm's ouster and assassination, Hồ Chí Minh reportedly stated: "I can scarcely believe the Americans would be so stupid."[122] The North Vietnamese Politburo was more explicit:
"The consequences of the 1 November coup d'état will be contrary to the calculations of the US imperialists ... Diệm was one of the strongest individuals resisting the people and Communism. Everything that could be done in an attempt to crush the revolution was carried out by Diệm. Diệm was one of the most competent lackeys of the US imperialists  ... Among the anti-Communists in South Vietnam or exiled in other countries, no one has sufficient political assets and abilities to cause others to obey. Therefore, the lackey administration cannot be stabilized. The coup d'état on 1 November 1963 will not be the last."[122]

The Ken Burns PBS “documentary’ on the Vietnam War was largely a selective view through the lens of leftist mythology.
-- Michael Lind

The late Harry G. Summers, Jr., Colonel of Infantry and distinguished faculty member of the Army War College, often called people’s attention to the fact that considerable differences in the treatment of the Vietnam War can be seen in the literature published in academia and that published by the veterans who served during the war. Summers also called attention to the fact that the perspective of the veterans differs considerably among themselves according to the time frame of their involvement and their role.

The U.S. involvement in the war began in a counterinsurgency role, but soon after the disastrous overthrow of South Vietnamese President Ngo Dinh Diem, foolishly encouraged by the Kennedy Administration in November 1963, we were involved in trying to hurl back major North Vietnamese Army (NVA) offensives. The removal and subsequent murder of Diem by South Vietnamese coup leaders resulted in over two years of political and military instability in South Vietnam.

Both President Johnson and President Nixon called this orchestrated regime change one of the biggest mistakes of the war. North Vietnamese leaders could hardly believe their good fortune and responded with a massive escalation of NVA troops, weapons, and supplies. The U.S. responded with steadily increasing troop levels, but President Johnson and Secretary of Defense McNamara pursued a policy of timid “graduated response” and refused the requests of the Pacific Area Commander, Admiral Sharp, and the Joint-Chiefs-of-Staff to bring the full weight of U.S. Air and Sea power against North Vietnamese strategic targets. Starting with Ia Drang in 1965 and ending with the heavily mechanized NVA Easter offensive in 1972, the conflict became a more conventional war, but with the U.S. allowing enemy sanctuaries in Cambodia, Laos, and North Vietnam and holding back from its potential to devastate strategic targets in North Vietnam. Admiral Sharp called the latter policy “powder puff” warfare in a U.S. Senate hearing.
