Fox News host Sean Hannity responded late Friday to reports that the first charges have been filed in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia's election interference.

“When will @HillaryClinton be indicted?” Hannity tweeted, minutes after CNN reported that a federal grand jury approved the first charges in Mueller’s probe.

George Washington’s Virginia church taking down his memorial

As though some would even notice. At any rate, it ain't the Episcopal Church of Washington and Lee's time, so I imagine they would be happy not to be associated with it.

A church attended by George Washington will take down a memorial to the nation's first president, a move church leaders say is intended to make the place of worship more welcoming.

The Washington Times reported Friday that Christ Church in Alexandria, Va., will remove memorials of Washington and former Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, which stand on either side of the church's altar.

“The plaques in our sanctuary make some in our presence feel unsafe or unwelcome," church leaders said. "Some visitors and guests who worship with us choose not to return because they receive an unintended message from the prominent presence of the plaques.”

Washington began attending the church soon after it opened in 1773, and bought a pew there. He attended for more than 20 years, though he appeared more regularly at Pohick Church, southwest of his estate at Mount Vernon.

Christ Church's decision to remove the statues comes amid a national debate over whether Confederate statues and monuments should be taken down. That debate resurfaced in August after a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va., turned violent.

While that debate has focused primarily on Confederate memorials, President Trump suggested shortly after the Charlottesville protests that taking down some memorials would eventually lead to statues of Washington or Thomas Jefferson being removed as well.

Washington Free Beacon funded original Fusion GPS anti-Trump opposition effort

Lawyers for the conservative publication Washington Free Beacon informed the House Intelligence Committee Friday that the organization was the original funder for the anti-Trump opposition research project with Fusion GPS.

The Free Beacon funded the project from the fall of 2015 through the spring of 2016, whereupon it withdrew funding and the project was picked up by the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign.

Authorities put brakes on information flow in Las Vegas shooting

Fifty-eight people killed. More than 500 injured. And yet, nearly a month after the Las Vegas Strip experienced the worst mass shooting in modern American history, local and federal authorities are refusing to fill in the blanks.

It wasn’t always like this. In the days after Oct. 1, when Stephen Paddock opened fire on the Route 91 Harvest festival crowd from his Mandalay Bay corner suite, Las Vegas police were hosting multiple news conferences a day. Then, once a day. Then, once every few days.

They compiled and released snippets of officers’ body camera footage. They spent several minutes answering specific questions. They released a comprehensive timeline, which ended up being wrong. They took it back, and tried to clarify the errors, but instead caused more confusion.

By Oct. 13 — the last time the Metropolitan Police Department or the FBI addressed the media or public — something had changed. The sheriff, who had been straightforward and stern, was now emotional and at times combative. Both he and the FBI failed to provide much new information, and at the end of the meeting, they refused to take questions.

Gone with the Wind: Remembering Struggle and Courage

Gone with the Wind, first published in June 1936, is according to many sources, the most successful and widely read novel ever published in America. The author, Margaret Mitchell of Atlanta, received a Pulitzer Prize in May of 1937 for her sweeping historical novel of the Old South set during the War for Southern Independence and Reconstruction. The novel was also wildly successful internationally. 

By 1965, it had been published in twenty-five different languages in twenty-nine countries.

Mueller facing new Republican pressure to resign in Russia probe & Can stop investigating Trump

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is facing a fresh round of calls from conservative critics for his resignation from the Russia collusion probe, amid revelations that have called into question the FBI’s own actions and potentially Mueller’s independence.

This week’s bombshell that a controversial anti-Trump dossier was funded by the Democratic National Committee and Clinton campaign has Republicans asking to what extent the FBI – which received some of the findings and briefly agreed to pay the same researcher to gather intelligence on Trump and Russia – used the politically connected material.

Hill investigators also are looking into a Russian firm’s uranium deal that was approved by the Obama administration in 2010 despite reports that the FBI – then led by Mueller – had evidence of bribery involving a subsidiary of that firm.

Former White House advisor Sebastian Gorka suggested Thursday night that if the Obama administration’s Uranium One deal had taken place in the 1950s, those involved might have been executed.

“If this had happened in the 1950s, there would be people up on treason charges right now. The Rosenbergs, okay? This is equivalent to what the Rosenbergs did, and those people got the chair,” Gorka said on Fox News Thursday night.

Obama Admin Threatened Russian Bribery Informant

The lawyer for an FBI informant at the heart of a Russian bribery plot covered up by the previous administration is claiming that her client was threatened by Obama Justice Department lawyers who warned “his reputation and liberty [was] in jeopardy” if he did not drop a lawsuit against the government.

The case involves consistent evidence that the Russians used bribery, kickbacks, and extortion to get a stake in the U.S. atomic energy industry. Despite knowledge of such influence, the Obama Administration still approved the 2010 deal giving Moscow a stake in America’s uranium supply and production.

Earlier this week, the Justice Department lifted a gag order on the informant allowing him to provide Congress with “any information or documents he has concerning alleged corruption or bribery involving transactions in the uranium market.”

"More Americans carry a firearm than active duty military personnel in the world’s 10 strongest militaries."

Three million people in the United States leave their homes every day carrying a loaded firearm, according to a new survey published in the American Journal of Public Health.

The online survey of 1,444 handgun owners was conducted in April 2015 by researchers at Harvard University, Northeastern University, the University of Washington, and the University of Colorado. They estimated that of the 36 million handgun owners in the U.S., approximately 9 million (24%) carry a loaded handgun every month. Of those 9 million, roughly 3 million carry every single day (35%).

For context, the survey’s results indicate that more Americans carry a firearm than active duty military personnel in the world’s 10 strongest militaries. The Chinese military – the closest contender – boasts 2,333,000 active duty personnel, nearly 700,000 soldiers short of the American concealed carry army.

Americans Set New Long Range World Record! 5,000 yards (2.84 miles)

On October 11th, we published an article about a team of Russian shooters from Lobaev Arms who set a new long-range world record by hitting a 1-meter target at 4,604 yards, which is approximately 2.6 miles. The rifle manufacturer announced this record on its Facebook page on October 3rd.

Unbeknownst to us, and apparently to the Lobaev team, was that on September 30th Charlie Melton, a retired United States Navy SEAL sniper, shot a 40-inch target at 5,000 yards, smashing all previous records.

For the record-breaking shot Charlie Melton, who runs Charlie Mike Precision, teamed up with Brad Stair of Performance Guns. Over several conversations with Charlie and Brad, I was able to get the details of their record-breaking shot.

Couple Discovers Cache of French Resistance Guns and Ammo

 

A Burgundy couple discovered a hidden cache of World War II-era arms that likely belonged to the French Resistance. The cache included pistols and submachine guns as well as grenades and plenty of mags and ammo.

The couple described the cache which included three Sten guns, three pistols, over a dozen grenades and well over a thousand rounds of ammunition. Two of the Sten guns have engravings. One bears the name “Pepette” and the other “Alice.”

The couple donated the cache to a local museum. The museum will put them on display next year in honor of the Maquis who lived there.

A Nov. 26, 1963 memo to the FBI from CIA counter intelligence chief James Angleton said that the senior reporter for the Cambridge News in England told British security officials that 25 minutes before Kennedy was shot an anonymous tipster telephoned and urged the reporter to "call the American Embassy in London for some big news and hung up."

"There is nothing further on the Oswald case except that he is dead." 

FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover dictated that line in a memo he issued on Nov. 24, 1963, the day Jack Ruby killed Lee Harvey Oswald as the gunman was being transported to the Dallas County Jail after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The memo is one of at least 52 records never previously made public that were included in the release Thursday of about 2,800 unredacted government documents related to Kennedy's murder in Dallas two days earlier. President Donald Trump approved withholding an undisclosed number of other documents pending a 180-day national security review.

The media refrain on the Trump dossier has been that “considerable amounts of it have been proven.” No one had explained exactly what has been proven, however, until The Washington Post decided to answer the question itself.

Per the Post, the Trump dossier must be evaluated as a guide to the overarching claim that Russian government officials allied with Trump employees and campaign aides to help his election.

Yes, the Post is still interested in the Russian collusion story: that the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee financed the dossier does not mean that its claims are automatically false.

As someone who follows Russia closely, my own first reaction to the Christopher Steele dossier back in January was incredulity. How could anyone take this combination of gossip and trash talk seriously?

The State Department on Friday said it wants Spain to remain “strong and united” after a regional government voted in favor of secession on Friday.

The State Department’s endorsement of the Spain's central government came after a Friday vote in the Catalan parliament to declare independence, which touched off a new political crisis in Western Europe.

“The United States enjoys a great friendship and an enduring partnership with our NATO Ally Spain,” State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said. “Our two countries cooperate closely to advance our shared security and economic priorities. Catalonia is an integral part of Spain, and the United States supports the Spanish government’s constitutional measures to keep Spain strong and united.”

World's witnessing a new Gilded Age as billionaires’ wealth swells to $6tn

The world’s super-rich hold the greatest concentration of wealth since the US Gilded Age at the turn of the 20th century, when families like the Carnegies, Rockefellers and Vanderbilts controlled vast fortunes.

Billionaires increased their combined global wealth by almost a fifth last year to a record $6tn (£4.5tn) – more than twice the GDP of the UK. There are now 1,542 dollar billionaires across the world, after 145 multi-millionaires saw their wealth tick over into nine-zero fortunes last year, according to the UBS / PwC Billionaires report.

Josef Stadler, the lead author of the report and UBS’s head of global ultra high net worth, said his billionaire clients were concerned that growing inequality between rich and poor could lead to a “strike back”.

“We’re at an inflection point,” Stadler said. “Wealth concentration is as high as in 1905, this is something billionaires are concerned about. The problem is the power of interest on interest – that makes big money bigger and, the question is to what extent is that sustainable and at what point will society intervene and strike back?”

Stadler added: “We are now two years into the peak of the second Gilded Age.”

What happened in the unseen labyrinth to which the pneumatic tubes led, he did not know in detail, but he did know in general terms. Thus Orwell described the pneumatic tubes that fed the “memory hole” into which all of unwanted  history, all facts and figures that were currently in disfavor, were consigned to the deep dark fires and erased for good.

And now, mimicking that total totalitarian state,  a whole rabid movement wants to put first slavery, and then the Confederacy, down that same hole.  These are currently in disfavor with this crowd and by toppling statues and renaming schools it plans to erase them from history.

To the NFL and its players

If I have brain cancer, I don’t ask my dentist what I should do. If my car has a problem, I don’t seek help from a plumber! Why do you think the public cares what a football player thinks about politics?

If we want to know about football, then depending on the information we seek, we might consult with you, but even a quarterback doesn’t seek advice on playing his position from a defensive tackle!

You seem to have this over inflated view of yourselves, thinking because you enjoy working on such a large scale stage, that somehow your opinion about everything matters. The NFL realizes the importance of its “image” so it has rules that specify the clothes and insignia you can wear, the language you use, and your “antics” after a touchdown or other “great” play. But somehow you and your employer don’t seem to care that you disgrace the entire nation and its 320 million people in the eyes of the world by publicly disrespecting this country, its flag, and its anthem! The taxpaying citizens of this country subsidize your plush work environments, yet you choose to use those venues to openly offend those very citizens.

Do you even understand what the flag of this country means to so many of its citizens before you choose to “take a knee” in protest of this “country” during our national anthem?

You may think because you are paid so much that your job is tough, but you are clueless when it comes to tough.

Jeff Sessions slams 'activist' judges for ruling against Trump

Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday blasted federal judges for making decisions against President Trump’s executive orders, and said those rulings represent a unacceptable level of interference.

“This is especially problematic when district courts take the dramatic step of issuing activist nationwide injunctions — orders that block the entire United States government from enforcing a statute or a presidential policy nationwide,” Sessions said in remarks to the Heritage Foundation. He was referring to rulings against Trump’s travel ban executive order, and nationwide injunctions issued by Washington, Maryland and Hawaii courts.

Sessions said he feels “strongly” about judges acting strictly “because of a political agreement.”

"Today, more and more judges are issuing nationwide injunctions and in effect single judges ... are making themselves super-legislators for the entire United States,” he said. “A single judge’s decision that can enjoin the entire federal government from acting is an extreme step, and too often, district court judges are doing it without following the law."

Sessions noted that the U.S. Constitution does not allow for judges to “veto a president’s action because they disagree with him on policy grounds.”
