Jeff Davis’s Crown of Thorns

Crown of thorns woven by Varina Davis for her husband. Now in Confederate Memorial Hall in New Orleans, the object formally hung in the study of Jefferson Davis, above a photograph and autograph inscription of Pius IX, sent to the president while he was prisoner at Fortress Monroe.

“Then the soldiers of the governor [Pontius Pilate] took Jesus … stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it on his head … and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! … And after that they had mocked him, they … led him away to crucify him (Matt. 27:27-31).”

This ironic crown, combining highest honor and degrading torture, became a premier symbol for the Passion of Christ – all that he suffered before and during his crucifixion. Like the Cross itself, however, it was made glorious by his resurrection.

At the end of the War for Southern Independence, which the South lost, the only president of the short-lived Confederate States of America was treated like a criminal. He was clapped into solitary confinement in a military prison, at Fortress Monroe, Virginia. The discipline was so strict that Jefferson Davis and his guards (and at first two were right in the cell with him) were forbidden to speak to each other. Davis could never for a moment, even for the needs of nature, leave their presence or the small stone room.

Donna Brazile: "I Considered Replacing Hillary With Joe Biden", Felt Like A "Slave"

Via comment by Anonymous on Donna Brazile’s attempt to walk back ‘rigging’ bombshell gets blown up (by her own book)

Donna Brazile’s campaign to embarrass the powerful Democrats who disrespected her during her short-lived tenure as interim chairwoman of the DNC last year is going better than anybody – other than Brazile and her publisher – could’ve possibly imagined.

After Brazile published the first of what appears to be a series of damning indictments of the incompetence, collusion and arrogance of both the Clinton campaign and Hillary herself – a news-cycle dominating bombshell about how the Clinton campaign and former DNC Chairwoman deliberately pushed the national party to the edge of financial collapse to leave it financially reliant upon and beholden to, the Clintons – Brazile is back with another astonishing revelation courtesy of the Washington Post.

In a report that paradoxically validates concerns about Clinton’s health raised by conservative media - which were readily dismissed as sexist and "alt-right fake news" by the unabashedly pro-Clinton mainstream media - the Post reported that Brazile contemplated removing Hillary as the party’s candidate after Clinton fainted during a ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial and, as the WaPo adds, "Brazile blasts the campaign’s initial efforts to shroud details of her health as “shameful."

Team Leader at Bowe Bergdahl's Outpost: 'He's a Selfish Person'

A team leader in Bergdahl's platoon said he was "very disappointed" to hear about the lenient sentence deserter Bowe Bergdahl received this week.

Bergdahl was held captive by the Taliban for five years after he abandoned his post in Afghanistan 2009. Five captured Taliban members were traded for his return. Soldiers lost limbs and even their lives looking for Bergdahl.

The FBI has begun turning over to Senate investigators hundreds of pages of memos regarding the bureau's probe into Hillary Clinton's private email server, sources told The Hill.

The sources said the Justice Department notified the Senate Judiciary Committee late Friday and the FBI began transmitting memos soon after to assist Congress in its review of former Director James Comey's handling of the Clinton email case.

The memos detail how and when the bureau's leadership declined to pursue criminal charges against Clinton for transmitting classified information on her private email server as secretary of State, an investigation that has remained controversial since the 2016 presidential campaigns.

The tragic mishandling of Catalonia's independence

The tragic mishandling of Catalonia's independence

There is a story about Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany, who considered himself an expert strategist, taking part in war games before World War I. After the mock battle, the German Army’s chief of staff supposedly told him, “There were a number of traps in the war game, your majesty, and you fell into every one of them.” The Kaiser’s modern counterpart is Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy. He has mishandled the drive for Catalonia’s independence at every stage, and Spain is reaping the whirlwind.

From the start, it was Rajoy’s refusal to negotiate a more equitable tax collection regime, or even to acknowledge that the current arrangement might be a problem, that led to the election of Catalonia’s pro-independence majority. His evident astonishment that the parties in the independence coalition would keep their campaign promise, and hold a referendum on separation from Spain, compounded the error.

Don't Miss This: Hillary Clinton Merits a Special Counsel

Via Billy

Rigging the Democrats’ nomination is just the icing on the cake when it comes to activity meriting a thorough investigation of criminal activity by the woman who, only a year ago, was presumed to become the 45th president.  Don’t forget Uranium One, Fusion GPS, keeping classified emails on an unsecured private server, deleting 33,000 emails under subpoena, and, well, you get the idea. Unfortunately, our AWOL AG Jeff Sessions, whose face was last seen on the side of a milk carton, does not. So, we are left with the absurdity of a special counsel looking into Trump-Russia collusion, where there is none, while overlooking the multiple Clinton elephants in the room.

The revelation that both the DNC and the Hillary Clinton campaign were funneling money through a law firm to Fusion GPS to produce a slimy and fake dossier on Trump culled from foreign sources was bad enough. Now we find, courtesy of the one truthful and remorseful Democrat on this planet, former DNC Chairperson Donna Brazile, that the DNC was bought and paid for by Hillary Clinton, who probably violated multiple FEC campaign laws in rigging the primaries against Bernie Sanders and shifted cash around in a manner that could only be called -- what’s the word Robert Mueller would use? Ah, yes,  money-laundering:

I hate to say this, but people like Carlson STILL don't get it yet. He can accuse the supporter of that ad of being a hater all he wants, because in their world, it's perfectly acceptable to hate those who differ from their progressive dogma. In fact, if you DON"T hate those who occupy the category of "deplorable", you yourself are suspect of failing to uphold the only acceptable orthodoxy.
Again, people like me are sick and effing tired of people like Carlson who still want to play the "You guys are the real haters/racists" game with these people. That's why the AltRight is not only on the ascendancy, but is in the process of remaking the right as we speak. They understand that those who support this kind of ad - as well as those who put it together - will never EVER be interested in finding "common ground". The AltRight understands that the Prog/Marxists are a serious problem that will have to be dealt with in a serious manner.
My next door neighbor is in his early 90's and has very vivid memories of having to flee Austria in the 30's. He told me a few weeks ago, "This is exactly how it started in my home country. When the academics, the press, the entertainers all say that it's not only acceptable to hate this group of people, but required and the government by it's silence on the subject condones it ad make no mistake my friend, their silence speaks volumes about what they'd like to see happen, well, I know what comes next and you should too. Plan accordingly.

Gillespie ahead by 3 points in new Virginia poll

Gillespie ahead by 3 points in new Virginia poll

Republican Ed Gillespie is now narrowly leading the Virginia gubernatorial race by three points, according to a new poll, just three days before Tuesday's election.

The new Optimus/Firehouse Strategies poll of likely Virginia voters over Wednesday and Thursday shows Gillespie leading his Democratic opponent Ralph Northam by 40.4 percent to 37.4 percent. His lead is just outside the poll's margin of error.

Recent polls have suggested a late-game comeback for Gillespie, who trailed Northam by a small percentage for recent months of the race, with a Friday poll showing the two locked in a dead heat at 47 percent apiece.

"Orgies, Affairs, Sex Shows, communist influences" Secret FBI Analysis Of MLK Jr. Exposed In Latest Release Of JFK Files

Via luchorpan

The National Archives and Records Administration on Friday afternoon released hundreds more documents related to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy.

The documents can be found here.

As CBS reports, this latest batch of 676 records could yield more interesting results than last week's release, as they are the ones intelligence agencies requested more time to review, citing national security concerns.

The majority of records from Friday's batch - 553 of them - are from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Those records were previously denied in their entirety, according to NARA.

CBS points out some interesting findings...

D’OH! Donna Brazile’s attempt to walk back ‘rigging’ bombshell gets blown up (by her own book)

Former interim head of the DNC Donna Brazile has a bombshell claim in her book that has made even the staunchest of Hillary Clinton defenders say it’s time to move beyond 2016. It’s clear that Brazile is feeling the heat from the Left side of the aisle, because a fast walk back was attempted yesterday after President Trump cited her book to hammer Hillary Clinton:

 Donna Brazile @donnabrazile
Today’s lesson: Being quoted by Donald Trump means being MIS-quoted by Donald Trump. Stop trolling me.

Newly unearthed footage captures one of the deadliest battles of the Vietnam War where American forces fought the Vietcong for 20 days and lost almost 400 soldiers

The Vietcong aimed for the destruction of an entire American unit, something which they thought was achievable at Dak To

First-hand footage from one of the most intense battles of the Vietnam War has emerged.

Video from the Battle of Dak To, shot over three weeks in November 1967, shows American soldiers from the 4th Infantry battling against the Vietcong in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam.

The Battle of Dak To was is known as one of the bloodiest of the Vietnam War, in which roughly 5,000 American troops assaulted a force of 6,000 Vietcong entrenched in hilltop defensive positions.

The Vietcong aimed for the destruction of an entire American unit, something which they thought was achievable at Dak To. As such, four regiments were dedicated to the offensive.

Video: "White Supremacy" Obsessed Commie Gets Schooled by Trump-Supporting Immigrant

This video of a far-left protester who is obsessed with “white supremacy” being schooled by a group of Trump-supporters with immigrant parents is the funniest thing you’ll see for a while.

Austen Fletcher visited the scene of the protest against a Milo Yiannopoulis speech at Cal State Fullerton earlier this week and hilarity ensued.

The Communist argues that anyone who supports Trump inherently believes in his immigration policies, which are based around reinforcing “white supremacy”.

The conversation then turns to three young student Trump supporters, who the Communist says “exist in a system of white supremacy,” before one of the students announces “we’re Armenian”.

Obama Hid 470,000 Documents From Bin Laden Raid To Ensure His Reelection

In a powerful and comprehensive piece in The Weekly Standard, editor Stephen Hayes delineates in detail how the Obama Administration hid almost half a million documents seized from the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound in order to perpetuate the lie that Al Qaeda was defeated after bin Laden’s death, thus paving the way for Obama’s 2012 victory.
