Is the South Celtic?

There is a popular theme embraced by many that the uniqueness of Southern culture is explained by its “Celtic” origins in opposition to the “Anglo-Saxon” foundations of the North.  This thesis has been expressed strongly in such works as Grady McWhiney’s Cracker Culture: Celtic Ways in the Old South, Jim Webb’s Born Fighting: How the Scots-Irish Shaped America, and James P. Cantrell’s How Celtic Culture Invented Southern Literature.

Should the distinctive and defining features of the South be described and understood as “Celtic”?
]
This is an interesting and important question that deserves exploration.  However, there is a more
important question to be kept in mind: is the “Celtic thesis” an asset or a liability for those of us who are working to keep Dixie alive and  hoping that someday Southerners  will regain control of our own destiny?

Maj. Gen. Patrick Brady, Medal of Honor Winner: 'Beyond shameful': Don't fall for this deceitful Vietnam flick

Via Billy

Communism is dead in Vietnam; they just don’t know what to do with the corpse.
Next to the Vietnam Wall, we need a John Kerry/Fonda Wall of Shame listing those who prominently blasphemed the Vietnam GI. And let’s add the names of every member of Congress who voted in December 1974 to betray our allies and leave them to be slaughtered by an evil, vicious enemy.
Needless to say, Ken Burns and Lynn Novick’s “documentary,” “The Vietnam War,” has caught the attention of Vietnam veterans. Except for the John Kerryites, the feedback is decidedly negative.

The filmmakers’ obsequious devotion to the Vietnam-era media narrative is breathtaking. Many call Burns and Novick’s “Vietnam” a hatchet job. That attitude certainly has merit, but I barely got past Tet when it was clear to me that what they were doing was more subtle than a hatchet job. A better description is: The filmmakers damned us – not only the veterans, but America as well – with faint praise.

They use a deceitful journalistic tool of gathering token credibility bites from those on the other side of their preordained narrative in an effort to appear objective. Burns and Novick’s “Vietnam” is plagued with media malfeasance including obfuscation, omission and some really messed up moral equivalences.

We would like to share why it is important that the “Silent Sam,” statue remain where it stands today on the UNC Chapel Hill campus. This monument is a testament to the service of UNC Chapel Hill Alumni who answered the call to serve their state.  State public institution students supporting their state.  A state that only seceded from the union when a president asked that we contribute soldiers to assist in the coercion of other states.  This coercion was and still stands in violation of the Constitution ratified and the fact that the vast majority of the public today does not know or understand the meaning of this statue is an ultimate insult to us as North Carolinians and to the University as a place of higher learning.

With kind regards,

Jonathan Varnell

Sessions directs prosecutors to 'evaluate certain issues' involving Uranium One and Clinton, leaves door open on special counsel

Attorney General Jeff Sessions directed senior federal prosecutors to evaluate “certain issues” requested by congressional Republicans, involving the sale of Uranium One and alleged unlawful dealings related to the Clinton Foundation, leaving the door open for an appointment of another special counsel.

In a letter first obtained by Fox News, the Justice Department responded to July 27 and September 26 requests from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., and other committee members, who called for the appointment of a special counsel to investigate the matters in question.

The letter comes on the eve of Sessions’ testimony before the same committee, scheduled for Tuesday.

The New American Heros! GQ Names Colin Kaepernick 2017 ‘Citizen Of The Year’

A good range target, at least............:)

Well, if GQ was looking to take the most divisive stance possible then they sure hit the nail on the head.

But choosing to portray Kaepernick as a racist left-wing militant isn’t even the most questionable thing GQ did here. In their announcement declaring Kaepernick “Citizen of the Year,” GQ’s editors explain that Kaepernick wanted to work with the magazine to “reclaim the narrative of his protest.”

However, in effort to “reclaim the narrative,” GQ spoke with “a ten-person team of [Kaepernick’s] closest confidants,” including Kaepernick’s girlfriend, radio/TV personality Nessa, and anti-Trump Women’s March organizer Linda Sarsour.

Besides being an outspoken SJW, Nessa is also a blatant racist. According to former NFL linebacker Ray Lewis, a racist tweet Nessa directed at him – in which she implied that Lewis was an Uncle Tom – cost Kaepernick a job with the Baltimore Ravens.

President Trump calls for House Republicans to end the

President Trump on Monday urged congressional Republicans to kill Obamacare's "unfair and highly unpopular" individual mandate in tax reform legislation that the House could vote on as early as this week.

"I am proud of the [Republican] House and Senate for working so hard on cutting taxes (and reform)," Trump tweeted Monday morning, a day before he returns from his 13-day trip to Asia.

"Now, how about ending the unfair and highly unpopular individual mandate in [Obamacare] and reducing taxes even further?" he continued. "Cut the top rate to 35 percent [with] all of the rest going to middle income cuts?"

U of T Profs Say Jordan Peterson's Plan to Expose Their Neo-Marxist Courses is 'Harassment'

                                                                          Insane.

Creating a website to inform students which college courses are "post-modern neo-Marxist" brainwashing is "morally wrong" and amounts to "harassment," at least according to professors at the University of Toronto.

From CBC:

Psychology professor Jordan Peterson's stated plan to build a website aimed at reducing enrolment in university classes he calls "indoctrination cults" has drawn the ire of his University of Toronto colleagues, who say it will make them the target of harassment.

"As a science professor, I'm not specifically targeted, but I still believe this website is morally wrong," U of T physics professor A.W. Peet told As It Happens host Carol Off. "A number of students and faculty members who I'm in correspondence with are concerned about his plans."

Steve Bannon: "I have never seen someone I admire … more than Trump.”

One of the most interesting nuggets from the new biography on former Trump whisperer Steve Bannon being released this week is his wish that President Trump had directed his tough Inaugural Address to Congress.

Author and former Washington Examiner editor Keith Koffler wrote in Bannon: Always the Rebel of how Bannon and top policy aide Stephen Miller felt the Jan. 20 speech went.

“You know, it was just perfect,” Miller said.

Systemic racism is so rare in America, the media just can't stop lying about it, Sheriff David Clarke

Systemic racism is so rare in America, the media just can't stop lying about it

Reports of racially motivated incidents at the Air Force Academy and near a university campus in Manhattan, Kansas were found to be fakes after thorough investigation.

That leads me to make several elephant-in-the-room observations.

First: the media love stories of race so much that they sprint to unfurl the “breaking news” banner before knowing the facts. It seems facts don’t matter, or more precisely, facts are inconvenient if they can use the story as a political bludgeon to smear all conservatives and Republicans as racists.

The process works like this: First, liberal media outlets instantly parachute in to cover the story from the scene. Live coverage and interviews play on emotions, since the facts are murky at best. Anchors earnestly remind viewers "race is an explosive issue in America."

WaPo Accuses Drudge Of Russian Collusion For Linking To Infowars

Via Billy

The Washington Post wrote an article denouncing the Drudge Report for having linked to Infowars on a regular basis during the 2016 election cycle.

The article, titled ‘One Of The Busiest Websites In The U.S. in 2016 Regularly Linked To Russia Propaganda,’ begins by explaining just how powerful and highly-trafficked Drudge Report is.

“Being the second-most-visited site, incidentally, means that Drudge had more page views than Yahoo, Disney (including ABC and ESPN) and Time Warner. It had more than the New York Times and The Washington Post, combined — with enough space left over to also outpace Hearst,” wrote Philip Bump on Friday.

The GOP Establishment Wants To Burn Down The Village To Save It...For Itself

We keep hearing about how angry Trump voters are destroying the Republican Party, but last week’s Schumer-show demonstrated that the people running it would rather run it into the ground than give up their grip on power. The Smart Set managed to get slaughtered on election night – let’s not sugarcoat it, we got creamed. And the dim bulbs in Congress seem determined to somehow turn tax cuts into something Republican voters hate. The GOPe makes everything worse, like pumpkin spice.

Oh, and then there’s Roy Freaking Moore, whose creepitude led to the inevitable lecture about conservative principles, which apparently now include accepting every accusation pushed by our media enemies at face value. We know the guy is guilty of being like Jerry Seinfeld, and he may be worse and actually criminal. If he is, Moore needs to drop and the Alabama legislature needs to redo the rules to get a viable Republican into the race. But we don’t know, and the voters have a right to wonder why the GOPe was so eager to embrace a shaky claim pushed by a media we have seen lie and lie again about Republicans to help their liberal masters. All this makes it hard to come to any conclusion but that the GOP establishment thinks that the only way to defeat the virus of conservatism is to set fire to the party and hope that a few elections from now their Boehner-based, crony trough-feeding paradigm will rise again from the ashes like a K Street phoenix. It’s as if they want to get wiped out in 2018, and that’s the one objective they actually seem capable of achieving.

Hello Brock,

I saw the picture you posted on  http://freenorthcarolina.blogspot.it/2012/10/livorno-italy-wwii.html ; I live in the city ( Livorno - Italy) where that picture was taken in 1944 and I worked to make a new picture exactly with the same dimensions, as it is now.
