Forrest family, Sons of Confederate Veterans sue over takedown of Memphis statues

Via Billy

The family of Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest and the Sons of Confederate Veterans filed a petition Wednesday seeking legal action against the city of Memphis for its role in taking down three Confederate statues last month.

The petition, filed with the Tennessee Historical Commission, accuses the city and nonprofit Memphis Greenspace Inc. of violating "numerous" state laws on Dec. 20, when Greenspace removed the Forrest statue from its pedestal atop his and his wife's graves in Health Sciences Park, and statues of Confederate President Jefferson Davis and war correspondent and Capt. J. Harvey Mathes from Fourth Bluff Park.

Remembering St. George Tucker

Washington, Adams, Madison, Jefferson, Franklin. All of these Founding Fathers are well known and need no first names.

Tucker, however, that’s a surname of a member of the Founding Generation that isn’t familiar at all and definitely needs a first name and what a first name it is: St. George!

St. George Tucker is a man whose name has been erased from the collective memory of Americans and it is a shame. There was a time when his reputation as an able jurist and a staunch defender of states rights and republican principles was second to none, save only his fellow Virginian, Thomas Jefferson.

He was a Virginian, but not by birth. Tucker was a transplant from more tropical climes — Bermuda.
Born in 1752 to a prominent planter family originally from England, Tucker was the youngest of six children who grew up on the estate his family had owned for over 100 years, Grove Plantation.

No Pension for Deserters

While a North Carolina State Legislator in 1902, Locke Craig debated North Carolina’s Republican US Senator Jeter Pritchard at Charlotte and denounced the Republican practice of rewarding those who had committed treason against North Carolina during its struggle for political independence.
Bernhard Thuersam, www.Circa1865.com   The Great American Political Divide

No Pension for Deserters

“[The Republicans complain that] two hundred thousand dollars went to pension the Confederate soldiers. We will take care of these old veterans, we owe them a debt of gratitude. In the wreck and ruin of war we were rich in the priceless heritage of their memory.

“These were men whom death could not terrify, whom defeat could not dishonor.” They glorified the fallen cause by the simple manhood of their lives and by the heroism of their death. They have cast over the South the glamour or an immortal chivalry and consecrated the cause of Dixie with the blood of an immortal sacrifice. It was devotion like this that made the South, though torn and bleeding, beautiful and splendid in her desolation, and in her woe.

For forty years they have been the builders of the New South and the projectors of her larger destiny. The Federal Government provides for the soldiers that followed its flag. That is right. We will provide for the soldiers of the armies of the “storm-cradled nation that fell.”

When Senator Pritchard was a member of the Legislature in 1895 he and his party voted against giving one cent of pension to the needy heroes that had hobbled home on crutches from Appomattox.

There is one class of men whom we do not believe in pensioning – the deserter. There are men here who remember the last two years of the war. The world was against us. Armies were crashing down upon us like a ring of fire. Sherman was marching to the sea and leaving behind him ashes and desolation. In that time there were men whose courage never faltered.

Ragged and hungry and bleeding they stood in the trenches around Richmond and Petersburg. They stood with an unfailing devotion, though sometimes they knew that their little ones at home were living on the corn they picked up from the wagon ruts of the invading armies. They died remembering Dixie like the Greeks remembering Argos – in the language of the old song: “While one kissed a ringlet of thin gray hair and one kissed a lock of brown.”

But there were some who did not stand. Traitors and deserters they were. They turned their backs upon the only home and country that they ever had. They sneaked through the lines. They threw away their old gray uniform and put on the blue. They came back to shoot and kill, to rob the defenseless wives and mothers of their comrades who were fighting and dying at the front; to burn their homes and to murder the innocent.

To these men Senator Pritchard has given a royal pension. He said to the hero of the Confederacy that he might starve, but with the money of the honest people he feeds and clothes the deserter.

Yes, I denounce this in the name of the forty thousand sons of North Carolina who sleep tonight beneath the sod in the battle-scarred bosom of old Virginia. I denounce it in the name of the men who rushed defiant of death through the storm of Chickamauga and Gettysburg. In the name of every Confederate soldier I denounce it. In memory of the women who were robbed and the men who were murdered I denounce it. In the name of all brave men who love courage and despise cowardice, who believe in fidelity to comrades and in love for home and in loyalty to a great cause, I denounce this infamous act. I do not stand alone.

Here is the resolution of the last Reunion of Confederate Veterans of North Carolina:

“Resolved, That we condemn and denounce the Act of Congress which rewards treachery and perfidy in giving pensions to Confederate deserters for fighting against their former flag and comrades.”

The judgment of the South is that the party that starves the soldier and pensions the deserter should be accursed forever.

The child has not yet been born in North Carolina that will see the day when the party that has degraded our people . . . will be restored to power. The new day has dawned, but the judgment has been pronounced against this Republican party. Democracy, united, enthusiastic and steadfast in its purpose to guard the welfare of all the people, to protect North Carolina from the hand of the despoiler, to promote the upbuilding of this great State, marches forward with victorious assurances.”

Nunes charges 'abuse' of government surveillance by FBI and Justice officials.

House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes told Republican colleagues in two closed-door meetings this week he has seen evidence that shows clear "abuse" of government surveillance programs by FBI and Justice Department officials, according to three sources familiar with the conversations, raising more questions about whether the controversial anti-Trump dossier was used by the Obama administration to authorize surveillance of advisers to President Trump.''

“Sh*t Hole” Countries by Race and IQ

Via comment by Reborn on Shit-holes

Compare all of this to the country of Japan, which has almost no minerals at all, but has a GDP of $4.9 trillion—and it becomes clear that race is the reason for the disparity, not “geography”, “environment,” or any of the other reasons race-denying liberals use to “explain” African backwardness.

US President Donald Trump may or may not have used the word “sh*t hole” to describe Haiti and African countries—but it has focused attention on the fact that all almost all black-ruled nations are  economic and social disaster zones—caused directly by average IQs of between 66 and 75.

The obvious connection between race, IQ, and achievement is apparent from the fact that the tiny European city state of Liechtenstein (population 37,000) has a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) larger than 14 African states, while Belgium (pop. 11m) and Australia (pop. 24m) have a GDP larger than 41 African states and their population of more than 990 million all added together—definitive proof that achievement is linked to race, and not “environment.”

Kimberley Strassel: What's really behind the furious efforts by Democrats' to spin the Trump dossier

Via Billy

There’s no such thing as a coincidence in Washington, so why the sudden, furious effort by Democrats and the media to give cover to the Steele dossier? As in, the sudden, furious effort that happens to coincide with congressional investigators’ finally being given access to FBI records about the Trump-Russia probe.

This scandal’s pivotal day was Jan. 3. That’s the deadline House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes gave the Federal Bureau of Investigation to turn over documents it had been holding for months.

Speaker Paul Ryan backed Mr. Nunes’s threat to cite officials for contempt of Congress. Everyone who played a part in encouraging the FBI’s colonoscopy of the Trump campaign—congressional Democrats, FBI and Justice Department senior career staff, the Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama political mobs, dossier commissioner Fusion GPS, the press corps—knew about the deadline and clearly had been tipped to the likelihood that the FBI would have to comply. Thus the dossier rehabilitation campaign.

The Trump dossier: How a political document made its way to the FBI

Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., has released a transcript from an interview with Simpson, the firm that commissioned a dossier of allegations about President Donald Trump's ties to Russia. (AP Photo/Pablo Martinez Monsivais, File)

It was the summer of 2016, and Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson was speaking with Christopher Steele, the former British spy he enlisted to cobble together dirt on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump’s ties to Russia.

“He said we should tell the FBI, it's a national security issue,” Simpson recalled to congressional investigators in August, according to a transcript of a closed-door interview with the Senate Judiciary Committee released this week.

The release of the Simpson transcript by Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif, has thrust the anti-Trump dossier back into the spotlight. It has also filled in holes about how the dossier ended up in the hands of the FBI.

Tucker Carlson on ‘Shithole’ Comment: ‘Trump Said Something That Almost Every Single Person in America Actually Agrees With’

Thursday on his Fox News Channel show, Tucker Carlson reacted to President Donald Trump’s reported reference to “shithole countries” and the criticism the president has received in response.

Carlson defended Trump, saying the comments are something “that almost every single person in America agrees with.”

Partial transcript as follows:
Today, as you doubtless heard, during immigration talks, President Trump said something that almost every single person in America actually agrees with.
An awful lot of immigrants come to this country from places that aren’t very nice. Those places are dangerous, they’re dirty, they’re corrupt and they’re poor, and that’s the main reason those immigrants are trying to come here and you would, too, if you live there.
President Trump asked why America doesn’t receive immigrants from places you might want to visit on vacation. Why aren’t we getting more people from Norway, he said, which by almost any measure, including the UN’s measures, is the most developed and richest country in the world.
While saying this, Trump used an expletive, and that’s not surprising either since he uses them all the time and was speaking privately. And yet, for some reason, virtually, everyone in Washington, New York and LA considered this a major, major event. Why is that?
Trump has since hinted he did not use such “tough language” during his immigration reform meeting.

Four people have been charged after former members of a North Carolina-based religious group complained that a minister forced children to work in his fish markets for little or no money, authorities said.

John McCollum, 67, and three women who worked for him were arrested in December, The Fayetteville Observer reported . Six others were being sought.

McCollum faces charges including involuntary servitude of children, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said. Arrest warrants list 16 children and young adults as victims. The sheriff's office said it believes more were involved.

Investigators say McCollum threatened the children with violence or loss of their food if they refused to work.

McCollum, who is jailed on a $1.1 million bond, told authorities he doesn't think he committed any crimes.

Criminal illegals, tax cheats, sanctuary cities OK'd in Gang of Six immigration deal

Via Billy

From left, President Donald Trump, accompanied by Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., Vice President Mike Pence, Senate Majority Whip Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas., and Sen. A plan to reform immigration and grant amnesty to nearly 700,000 young adults that is being shopped by six senators would waive some criminal convictions, let 300 “sanctuary cities” off the hook and starve Immigration and Customs Enforcement of funds to track down and deport criminal illegals, according to a new analysis of the proposal.

“This proposal is not a serious effort to find common ground with either the majority of
congressional Republicans or the president,” according to immigration expert Jessica M. Vaughan, director of policy studies for the Center for Immigration Studies.

“It pays only lip service to what is required to achieve the immigration policy improvements that Americans seek, and that they elected Donald Trump to accomplish,” she added in a new analysis released Friday.

Mr Trump is exactly right . . . those "countries" are exactly as described.  I've been to 29 different countries, some more than once, and I've seen life in the raw in all of them.  Take my word for it, Haiti is NOT Hawaii, Surinam is NOT Swizerland, Brazil has a v e r y thin veneer of civilization and there is no 'best place' in sub-Sarahan Africa. None, nary a single solitary ville.

South Africa and Rhodesia were once modern, clean, civilized countries, but no longer.

Its worth your life to wander off the tourist trails in Puerto Rico.  US Virgin Islands is the same.  A young American or British female will be lucky to avoid the Slavers in either place.

Tucker Carlson Asks ‘Why The Outrage?’ On Trump’s ‘Sh*thole’

 Tucker Carlson Tonight 1-11-18 (2)

Fox News host Tucker Carlson defended President Donald Trump’s Thursday comments about immigrants coming to America from “shithole” countries, and said the media’s visceral outrage over the story was preposterous.

Carlson was speaking with Jose Parra, the Latin communications director for former President Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, and said he had visited Haiti and doesn’t understand why people were offend by Trump’s accurate characterization.

“The idea that you are not allowed to say that they’re pretty crummy countries, Haiti for example or El Salvador, I’ve been in both of them — that’s why people are leaving them to come here,” Carlson said. “So I don’t understand what the sin is. You’re not allowed to point out that other countries aren’t as good places to live as America?”

What fools the leftist are. As usual they are incapable of considering even the possibility of unintended consequences. Good. By latching onto an unverified, second hand source remark, the media minions think they have found their "gotcha" of the week or perhaps month.

What it is turning into however is the new meme of the right that they are going to get pilloried with endlessly. It's going to be hilarious.

Socialism, making the shitholes of tomorrow today.

Haiti, the Caribbean shithole where slavery is a growth industry.

Haiti, incubating AIDS and tuberculosis and exporting shitholeism to the world.

Liberia, a West African shithole exporting Ebola to the world.

Detroit, showing American solidarity to the shitholes of the world.

CNN, shitholyer than tho.

BBC, Doing are part to make Britain a Muslim shithole so you don't have to.

The meme possibilities are endless.

Shit-holes

 Since we're talking about them...........

El Salvador - The murder capital of the entire planet; home of MS-13.

Somalia - a lawless shit-hole controlled by violent Islamic terrorists.

Haiti - the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere because it is the most corrupt nation in the Western Hemisphere.

Shit-holes, one and all, with no history of democracy or the Western values that have prevailed here so successfully, for so long.

Numerical Size and Share of the Foreign-Born Population in the United States, 1970-2015 Source: Migration Policy Institute (MPI) tabulation of data from the U.S. Census Bureau's 2010 and 2015 American Community Surveys (ACS), and 1970-2000 decennial Census.

Other than the obvious desire of Democrats to reduce the white population of the United States to an ever-shrinking minority and to use this burgeoning non-white majority to create the first permanent single-party (Democrat) domination here, how else could you possibly explain this white-excluded immigration pattern?

It should not be uncomfortable for us to ask such questions because the immigration policy of the USA has since 1965, is clearly racist in that it does not welcome white immigrants from stable nations with a long history of democracy.  Again, why not?

Say no to the Gang of Six. What is it about gangs and immigration? The so-called Gang of Six came up with a proposed “deal” on DACA that is worthy of the late, unlamented Gang of Eight’s version of “comprehensive” immigration reform. It deserves to be thrown into the nearest circular filing cabinet, and opposition from the White House thankfully ensures that it will be.
