Democrats' 'blue wave' has evaporated. Here's what's going on

Democrats have suffered an epic collapse in approval ratings, threatening their efforts to retake control of the U.S. House of Representatives in the November midterm elections. They have only themselves to blame.

The most recent Reuters poll shows Republicans enjoying a slim advantage over Democrats in the so-called “generic ballot,” which measures whether voters would vote for a Democrat or Republican to represent them in the House.

Democrats led by 11 percentage points in April. Other polls show Democrats still in the lead, but with the gap narrowing to an average of 3 points – down from a 13 point gap at the end of last year.
What’s going on?

The most obvious answer is that Democrats are, once again, out of touch with the majority of Americans.

2 Shot At Restaurant In OK; Suspect Killed By Armed Patron

A mother and daughter were shot Thursday night at a popular restaurant on Lake Hefner in northwest Oklahoma City, police said.

The shooting occurred at Louie’s Grill & Bar at 9401 Lake Hefner Parkway around 6:30 p.m.

According to Captain Bo Mathews with the Oklahoma City Police Department, the suspect entered the restaurant and opened fire.

Giuliani: Trump more likely to meet with Kim than Mueller

 

Rudy Giuliani said Thursday that President Trump is more likely to move forward with talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un than he is to sit for an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller.

“I think it is more inevitable than a Mueller interview,” Giuliani, a member of Trump's legal team, told The Washington Post. “At least they’re not going to try to trap him into Korean perjury.”

Pres. Trump said in a Fox News interview today that he will not approve any DACA amnesty legislation that doesn’t include strong border security, end the visa lottery program, and eliminate chain migration.

"Unless it includes a wall, and I mean a wall, a real wall, and unless it includes very strong border security, there’ll be no approvals from me. Because I have to either approve it or not," Pres. Several FBI agents would like Congress to subpoena them so that they can step forward and reveal dirt on former FBI Director James Comey and his Deputy Andrew McCabe, reports the Daily Caller, citing three active field agents and former federal prosecutor Joe DiGenova.

In this excellent paper, Dr. Edwin Vieira lays out the very clear constitutional powers of the President, as Commander in Chief, to call forth the militia of we the people into service to execute the laws of the Union. While Dr. Vieira is here focused on calling forth the “unorganized militia” as defined in current federal law, keep in mind that the same clear power also applies to the “organized militia” which is the National Guard, as defined by current federal statutes. Both are part of the militia, and both may be called into service by the President, and in fact, MUST be called into service by President Trump to address the current crisis situation of school shootings. President Trump must call forth ALL of the militia of the several states, and that means the National Guard and the rest of us.

Holder urges DOJ/FBI to unconstitutionally defy President: 'Protect the institutions'

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

 Former Attorney General Eric Holder publicly urged his former employees at the Justice Department to defy President Trump’s request for transparency and public disclosures of information related to the unprecedented spy operation launched in 2016 against the Trump campaign.

Holder’s insistence that the DOJ and FBI “protect the institutions” rather than carry out their constitutional duties and protect the constitution, the document they actually swear to protect when entering their federal positions is telling and rather frightening.

If one ever searched for a “deep state” smoking gun it appears Holder has offered it up. Protect the “Institution” of the Justice Department at the expense of the US Constitution. Defy the President’s orders for the sake of the governmental apparatus.

The more this story develops, the more they expose themselves. ‌

A liberal federal judge's ruling against President Donald Trump in favor of liberal Twitter trolls could be a major win for right-wingers who've been censored and banned from social media.

From NY Daily News, "Trump can no longer block users on Twitter as judge declares his feed a public forum":

 President Trump can't block Twitter users from viewing his prolific feed, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

 Manhattan Federal Court Judge Naomi Buchwald ruled that Trump's Twitter account, @realDonaldTrump, is a "designated public forum" and protected by the First Amendment. 

But the judge stopped short of ordering Trump to unblock his critics, saying she did not want to "enter that legal thicket.

Our participation in Amazon Associates terminated without warning, with false and shifting explanations.

For as long as I can remember, Legal Insurrection has participated in Amazon Associates, a way for websites to earn fees when readers shop at Amazon.com via links from our website.

It was an important source of revenue to us, and paid for some of the operating expenses readers never see.


On Saturday morning, April 28, 2018, I woke up to an email in my inbox from Amazon Associates telling me our participation in the program was terminated, our account closed, that the decision was final and there was no appeal. On top of that, Amazon was holding back any accumulated money it owed us.

There was no prior indication of a problem, or chance to cure. It’s always been our intent to comply with the program requirements. I detail what happened, including all the email communications, below.
