Scientists discover DNA proving original Native Americans were White

“This is a new population of Native Americans – the white Native American”

A new discovery of ancient DNA may overturn the idea that the Native Americans were the first to have populated the American continent. Instead, a new group known as the ancient Beringians, who are more closely related to modern white Europeans has been discovered by researchers. Genetic analysis of a baby girl who died at the end of the last ice age shows she belonged to this previously unknown ancient group of Beringians.

A baby girl who lived and died in what is now Alaska, at the end of the last ice age belonged to a previously unknown group of ancient people who branched off from the ancestors of modern Europeans, according to DNA recovered from her bones.

The child, a mere six weeks old when she died, was found in a burial pit next to the remains of a stillborn baby, perhaps a first cousin, during excavations of an 11,500-year-old residential camp in Tanana River Valley in Central Alaska. The remains were discovered in 2013, but a full genetic analysis has not been possible until now.

[Photos] The Laid-Back Life in Saigon and Bien Hoa in 1965

Two years before I arrived but looks about the same except for the absence of military vehicles.  I do see my old Citroen though. :)

Take a look at this gallery of photos that showcase Saigon and Bien Hoa in 1965 and pay homage to decidedly more quiet versions of the bustling cities.

Many decades of urban design and economic change continue to shape the physical heritage of Saigon. The changes reflect the city's reputation as a major economic leader not only for communities that border it but for Vietnam as a whole.

However, this wasn't always this case. Saigon contained a significantly more quaint, laid-back atmosphere during the 60s in comparison to its 21st century's hectic pace of life. This set of old Saigon and Bien Hoa photos, photographed by Jerry Cecil, is a vivid testimony to the daily life of Saigoneers in bygone years.

Taking a stroll through these shots, one can spot both familiar and novel personas of the southern metropolis: a city drenched in a bluish-white hue instead of today's warmer yellow, a buzzing Bach Dang Harbor, or the instantly recognizable look of Ba Chieu Market filled with a vast array of vendors. This set also contains a virtually undeveloped Bien Hoa City and reveals a wider proliferation of xích lô, which are now relegated chiefly to the service of tourists.

Repost: The Story of Civil War Sniper Jack Hinson and His Rifle

Via Tim

 Sniper-Jack-Hinson

Throughout history, man has had the responsibility to do two things: protect his family and provide for that family. In this day and age, some have steered away from their manly roots, but many of us still want to do right by our loved ones. Anyone who considers himself a red-blooded protector of his family will feel his blood boil when he hears the saga of Captain John “Jack” Hinson.

I was running a shotgun class in New York for a group of LE officers, one of whom was also a Civil War reenactor named Dan Phelps. It turns out that he portrays a Southern artilleryman when reenacting battles and has a keen understanding of what the South endured during the U.S. Civil War.
Dan was excited to tell me a few stories about the area in Tennessee to which I recently moved. A few weeks after class, he sent me a book by Lt. Col. Tom McKenney, USMC, Ret., titled “Jack Hinson’s One Man War, A Civil War Sniper.” From the moment I read the dustcover, I couldn’t put down the book. I was intrigued that the story had taken place within an hour of where I live, but more than that, the story McKenney weaves is really well written and puts you right in the boots of Hinson as he settles the score.

Tim Kaine wants to remove ALL Confederate Memorials: Vote Corey Stewart

 Via Susan
Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, sky and outdoor

Tim Kaine wants to remove ALL Confederate Memorials from ALL federal property. This would mean tearing down monuments and memorials at battle fields such as Gettysburg and Sharpsburg. He says he will join with Sen. Cory Booker, a New Jersey Democrat, to introduce legislation to remove Confederate statutes from the Capitol, including the memorial to Robert E Lee placed by the citizens of Virginia.

Corey Stewart is not going to let that happen. He will fight to protect and preserve ALL of Virginia’s history.

Send Tim Kaine packing in November and save our monuments! Vote Corey Stewart for Senate.

Border Patrol Agent Shot 4 times in Tucson Sector

Border Patrol Agent

A Border Patrol agent has been shot in the Tucson Sector. Breitbart Texas learned of the shooting from sources and Border Patrol officials later confirmed the incident.

Tucson Sector spokesman Chris Sullivan confirmed to Breitbart Texas in a phone interview that an agent had been shot. He said the agent is “expected to be okay.” As the situation is developing, the sector is not yet releasing any additional information.

Sources working under the umbrella of U.S. Customs and Border Protection told Breitbart Texas that the shooting occurred between 3:30 and 4:30 Tuesday morning in the Chimney Canyon area located southeast of Aravaca.

One of the sources said the Border Patrol agent was shot in the chest and back as well as in the hand and knee, but heavy plate body armor successfully stopped the shots to the chest and back. Breitbart Texas was unable to confirm this account with officials.

Another source told Breitbart Texas that the injured Border Patrol agent is a paramedic. That source claimed the injured agent applied his own tourniquet and started his own IV. The source also claimed the injured agent was transported by an emergency medical helicopter to a hospital. Breitbart Texas was unable to confirm these claims with officials.

Awake for the Living: Lee and the “Feeling of Loyalty”

The Attack on Confederate Monuments is a subspecies of what Richard M. Weaver called the “attack on memory.”  To understand why the attack on memory is a necessary part of the project of modernity is to understand why that attack will never relent, even after the last unassuming plaque honoring the Confederate dead is gouged out of a walkway and Robert E. Lee’s bones are dug up from underneath the former Lee Chapel to be ground into powder and fed to jackals.  By understanding the pervasive nature of this attack we may know more deeply the importance of memory, especially the way it forms and shapes love and loyalty, as well as how we might begin to recover our memory for ourselves and our children, and thereby rebuild a society that encourages virtue according to Divine design.

The demasculinization of men rolls on: Male models wear pregnant bellies on the runway

Via Nancy

I won’t celebrate fakery.

From Yahoo: It’s men’s fashion week over in London right now, so there are lots of runway images hitting the wire, but the ones from designer Xander Zhou‘s show on Monday really have people talking. That’s because he had many of his male models walk the catwalk with fake pregnant bellies.

Some wore tight T-shirts lifted up so the prosthetic stomach was in full view, and others clutched their covered gut region with nurturing arms, which, as Fashionista pointed out, helped distinguish their fake preggo stomachs from, like, beer bellies. At least one model wore a shirt that said, “New World Baby.”

Another Project From The Back Yard

Having been born into the Episcopal Church oh so many years ago I was early in life instilled with a respect and reverence for the 1928 Book of Common Prayer. That and being of English ancestry also brought me a love of antiques.

Close to thirty years ago I joined a newly formed church attached to the Anglican Catholic Church, primarily because they adhered to the old Liturgy that the Episcopal Church has abandoned. While there I completed the call to service bell I mentioned in an earlier post.

Shortly after one of my fellow parishioners asked me to restore an old Sacramental Tabernacle she had found. It was in terrible shape after decades of the worst kind of neglect. Rust was eating at the wrought iron frame and some of the sheet metal back panels were rusted through. Parts of the brass outer panels were deeply pitted and corroded.

I harbored no illusions that it was going to be anything but a daunting task.
