Evidently a dog must have gotten all but two. Susan found those two in the field huddled together and raised them like she does her chickens, but they both died of some disease. :(
That's too bad. I thought you were going to put them in a pen for protection. Disease? What kind of disease. I have chickens also but never a disease except for some lice which is easily remedied. Such a shame as you were so proud of the peahen and chicks.
No, we have always let them run free and haven't had a problem with them but have lost chickens. I'm not sure, but I can ask Susan if she knows, and all I know was she took pictures of the two all the time and when they died one after another she was crying.
I thought you had a peahen as I recall seeing pictures of the
