Driving Through Virginia

Southeast Virginia is a region rich in history, from the earliest colonial times to today’s modern military.  Cape Henry welcomes visitors today, just as it did the Virginia Company colonists in 1607, just before they settled at Jamestown.  First Landing State Park commemorates where the colonists first entered Chesapeake Bay, seeking a site for settlement. One of Virginia’s oldest and most popular state parks, it offers not only a glimpse into history but also many recreational opportunities.

A hub of military bases, the Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth,  and Norfolk area South of the James River-Hampton Roads-Chesapeake Bay waterfront is encircled by wildlife refuges, state parks and seashores.  Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, False Cape State Park, and Currituck National Wildlife Refuge are on the Atlantic coast along the Virginia-North Carolina border.  A little further inland, Northwest River Preserve offers more wildlife habitat, on waters which feed into the Currituck Sound between the tidewater mainland and the outer banks.  The Great Dismal Swamp Wildlife Refuge and State Park, straddles the state lines. An 11 mile trail for hiking, bicycling, or horseback riding follows along the remains of the Dismal Swamp Canal, which connected the Albermarle Sound in North Carolina with the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.

Central American Countries Are Helping Middle Easterners Illegally Enter The United States

DATED

Panama and Costa Rica are chokepoints on the migrant trail followed by people from other continents seeking easier U.S. entry through our porous border with Mexico.

In December 2018, the Center for Immigration Studies dispatched Senior National Security Fellow Todd Bensman to Panama and Costa Rica to investigate President Donald Trump’s widely ridiculed assertions that suspected terrorists had been apprehended among Middle East migrants through Latin America. Panama is a geographic chokepoint, or bottleneck, through which migrants from countries of the Middle East, who are moving out of South America, must push on their way to the U.S. border.

The following article is based on Bensman’s on-the-ground research over two weeks. His video reports, photos, and writings from the trip can be found here.

Golfito, Costa Rica — It was here in March 2017, at the main aluminum structure of a government migrant camp, that federal Costa Rican police arrested Ibrahim Qoordheen of Somalia as a suspected al Shabaab terrorist operative on his way to the U.S. southern border.

A MC Officer: Leftist Ideology and the Corruption of the American Military

Via 4 Branch

Liberal ideology holds the American military in a vice grip, squeezing the very lifeblood of warlike virtue from its veins. Nowhere is this spiritual corrosion more evident than in the integration of women into our armed forces. Like the Marxists before them, the contemporary Left dismisses reality out of hand. “Nature we will teach—and freedom we will reach.”

Winning wars be damned.

What follows is a compendium of my own personal observations as a Marine Corps officer, as well as an exploration of official policies that reveal the Leftist corruption of our military institutions.

Candace Owens: The truth is that the Left and the Democrats never, ever, ever, ever, want to fix black America

 Candace Owens
“Never in a million years did the Left predict Donald J. Trump,” continued Owens, “and I’ll tell you what they also are not predicting. They never predicted a minority awakening. They never thought that they could ever lose the black vote — they’ve taken our vote for granted for so long, but things are starting to change.”

Turning Point USA communications director Candace Owens told an audience at CPAC on Friday that “the truth is on our side as conservatives,” and that truth is all conservatives actually need in order to wake up minority communities to understanding that the Democrat Party is the Party of “slavery, Jim Crow laws, racial terrorism, and the KKK.”

NC: Why gun laws fail

Image result for GRNC

EDITOR: Reading the Feb. 27 editorial from Newsday, “Existing gun laws can stop many deaths,” initially gave me hope that people were finally beginning to get it: enforce the laws that already exist rather than just mindlessly writing new, even more useless laws. If gun control actually worked, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

I think the root cause is that advocates have the misconception that legal sales are the equivalent of all sales. Gun laws only potentially affect legal sales. The fatal flaw is that they do nothing to stop illegal sales. The most recent study on the subject by the Department of Justice indicated that only 10.3% of federal and state prisoners obtained their guns from a retail source. That includes 0.8% from gun shows, 0.4% from flea markets, 1.6% from pawn shops, and 7.5% from retail stores. Almost 90% got their guns from sources that don’t run background checks and don’t worry about the niceties of the law.

The idea that universal background checks or magazine size restrictions are a “crucial” need is ludicrous. The same goes for restrictions on magazine size. How does that reduce gun violence when all it takes to negate them is simply to ignore them?

NC: Dumbfounding: State Will Let Bad Schools Keep Doors Open, Looks at Dropping F Grades From 60% to 39%

Color me embarrassed.:(

Anyone want to compare Edgecombe to Carteret and guess why the huge difference? Dixieland is in Edgecombe and Christine lives in Carteret which is where I also lived until recently.

Democrats in North Carolina are proposing a change to the state’s school grading system that will be more lenient toward underperforming schools.

Currently, schools in North Carolina are given a letter grade based on a 10-point scale, with 60 percent being an “F.”

The performance scores are publicly available online and give parents a better look at the various school systems across the state.

School Board Voted Against Armed Security Before Shooting, Now They’re Reversing Course

Armed police officer at school

Reality has a way of bringing people around. Just a month after a school board in Baltimore voted against allowing armed officers in area schools, they’ve changed their minds after seeing firsthand what happens when determined criminals strike.

At first, all ten members of the board resisted the idea of “good guys with guns” in the Maryland schools. They unanimously turned down a measure that would have supported armed police officers — not teachers or private security — to help safeguard schools.

Then tragedy struck. “Neil Davis, a 25-year-old family member of a student, came into (Frederick Douglass High School) on Feb. 8 and shot special education assistant Michael Marks, according to police. The 56-year-old longtime staffer was seriously injured but survived,” The Baltimore Sun reported.

Lynne Patton: “Michael Cohen turned on the President because Mueller threatened to throw his wife in jail for up to 30 years”…

...not only were those threats unethical, demonstrably prosecutorial misconduct and potentially illegal, but also Michael Cohen’s denial therein means he would have lied to the court in his plea hearing....
....this type of unlawful coercion and threat to compel a guilty plea and cooperation from a defendant are specifically prohibited....
Lynne Patton: […] 3) Many of you may already know that I considered Michael Cohen to be one of my very best friends. Countless people can confirm that we were virtually inseparable during my employment at Trump – and that he is, single-handedly – responsible for introducing me to the Trump family and effectively changing my entire life. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that my heart still breaks for him and for his family, with whom I had grown extremely close.
4) What many of you may not be aware of is the fact that I can personally confirm that the ONLY reason Michael Cohen “turned on” the President of the United States is because Mueller threatened to throw his wife in jail for up to 30 years. Period. She is the co-guarantor of a $20M personal loan that Mueller discovered Michael secured back in 2015 by falsely inflating the value of his taxi medallions – effectively making her part & parcel to the federal charge of “Making False Statements to a Financial Institution,” to which Cohen ultimately plead guilty. This is also the reason why Cohen’s longtime taxi medallion partner, Evgeny “Gene” Freidman, was granted immunity. (read more)

Human Fungi Confronting Gen. Johnston

“The greatest pleasure is to vanquish your enemies and chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth and see those dear to them bathed in tears, to ride their horses and clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters.” Genghis Khan (1162-1227)

Human Fungi Confronting Gen. Johnston

“[At Savannah, Sherman wrote his wife, there] are some elegant people whom I knew in better days, who do not seem ashamed to call on “the vandal in chief.” They regard us just as the Romans did the Goths, and the parallel is not unjust.”

[Terror], as he later admitted, was to be Sherman’s ally in the new campaign. “My aim then was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inner recesses, and make them fear and dread us. “Fear is the beginning of wisdom” . . .

From the start, the campaign was called the Smokey March. In spite of wet weather, fires licked at railroad cars, depots, ties, at bales of cotton and bins of cottonseed, at acres of pine trees, at barrels of resin, at factories, at public buildings – sometimes at whole towns. Rail fences smoldered when not too deep in water. Barns blazed after foragers had emptied them, and houses that farmers had deserted glowed on the horizon where bummers explored.”

“[The Richmond Examiner of March 29, 1865 wrote] of 487 Yankee captives, shoeless, hatless, blackened by pine smoke . . . sent by Wade Hampton to prison in the Confederate capital. The prisoners were:

“scabs, scavengers and scum of creation. Never since the war began has such a crew of hell-born men, accursed and God-forsaken wretches polluted the air and defiled the highways of Richmond with the concentrated essence of all that is lecherous, hateful and despised. All these are part and parcel of that human fungi Johnston’s noble army are confronting . . . If he cannot successfully resist them, God help Richmond and her citizens.”
