Things That Can’t Go on Forever Simply Don’t

The present identity-politics divisiveness is not a sustainable model for a multiracial nation, and it will soon reach its natural limits one way or another.

Economist Herbert Stein’s old adage – “If something cannot go on forever, it will stop” – still holds.

Take illegal immigration.

There are currently somewhere from eleven million to 15 million immigrants living in the United States without legal authorization. Last month, nearly 100,000 people were apprehended or turned away while trying to illegally cross the southern border. Some experts suggest that at least that number made it across without arrest. At that rate, the United States would be gaining a fairly large city of undocumented arrivals each month.

If one number encapsulates the historic economic turnaround under President Trump, it’s this: “7.1 million unfilled jobs,” Heritage Foundation Senior Fellow Stephen Moore writes in the Boston Herald. “The irony of all this is that at the very moment the left wants to institute a ‘guaranteed livable income’ for every American, Trump is doing that and more by making sure that every last American who wants one can get a job.”

“Retired FDNY firefighter Jim Riches, whose son Jimmy was murdered on 9/11, blasted Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar Tuesday night for explaining the attack as ‘some people did something.’ He demanded an apology from the Democratic congresswoman while panning New York Democrats for defending her,” Kerry Picket reports in  The Daily Caller “Donald Trump is 100 percent right,” Riches said.

“Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.) urged her supporters to join her in a hunger strike to push for action to ‘shut down’ U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), arguing the radical push to abolish ICE can't be achieved by Congress,” Brent Scher reports for  The Washington Free Beacon. “Tlaib, headlining a Detroit fundraiser this past weekend for the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights, complained of colleagues who are constantly ‘policing’ what she says and lack willingness to embrace bold stands such as abolishing ICE.”

Smackdown: Attorney General Barr Shuts Down Reporter Who Tried To Insinuate He Was Protecting Trump

“What do you say to people on both sides of the aisle, who are concerned that you are trying to protect the president,” she asked.

“It just seems there’s a lot of effort to go out of your way to acknowledge how this was difficult for him,” quoting the portion of the remarks where Barr said, Trump “faced an unprecedented situation.”

“Well, is there another precedent for it,” replied Barr.

“No, but it’s unusual that…,” replied the reporter.

“Okay, so unprecedented is an accurate description, isn’t it,” said Barr.

Yes sir, indeed it is.

Chief engineer of Notre Dame: That fire's flames needed an accelerant to reach and burn the church's ancient oak beams

Former chief architect/engineer of Notre Dame Cathedral, who oversaw renovation of its electrical wiring and installed a modern fire detection system in 2010

The head engineer responsible for the Notre Dame site had this to say on French TV two days ago about the 'accident' on Monday:

"With really old oak like that, you'd need a lot of smaller wood to first get the fire hot enough for the ancient oak beams to burn.

In 2010 we replaced all the electrical wiring, so there's no way this was sparked by a short-circuit. We put new wiring in place according to modern standards. And we went even further; we installed state-of-the-art fire protection and detection systems in the cathedral.

At all times, there are always two men on standby in the Cathedral, day and night, to go investigate anything the moment an alarm goes off, then if necessary to call the fire emergency services.

I am really stunned that this [the fire] has happened."

Democrats Begin Refunding, Rejecting Donations From Ilhan Omar

Chalk one up for Trump.

The Washington Free Beacon reported on Wednesday that the reelection campaign for Rep. Lucy McBath (D-GA) left a $2,000 contribution from Omar off its quarterly fundraising report, and, when pressed by the Free Beacon, admitted that they left the money off the report because they decided to reject it.

"McBath’s rejection of the donation is more important than it may sound," the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. "The Sixth District has a significant Jewish population – particularly in Sandy Springs and east Cobb County."
