Truman and Treason?

Most people believe the novel 1984 by George Orwell was about some futuristic dystopia. Published in 1949, the story reflected the fear of what the world could be like under totalitarian government. The main character in the story, Winston Smith, works in the Records Department of the “Ministry of Truth” as a reviser of historic records. Thought police, misleading language, heavy surveillance, and outright deception are used to make sure everyone is conforming to the state.

While one could argue that the United States has been headed toward such a society for some time, the true arrival of totalitarian government in this country occurred under Harry S. Truman, after the election of 1948.

Video for FBI's Steele story falls apart: False intel and media contacts were flagged before FISA

The FBI’s sworn story to a federal court about its asset, Christopher Steele, is fraying faster than a $5 souvenir T-shirt bought at a tourist trap.

Newly unearthed memos show a high-ranking government official who met with Steele in October 2016 determined some of the Donald Trump dirt that Steele was simultaneously digging up for the FBI and for Hillary Clinton’s campaign was inaccurate, and likely leaked to the media.

Old Saigon: Plan to Rebuild 134-Year-Old Nam Dinh Cathedral Sparks Public Outcry

Not long ago, more than 20 architects and preservationists cosigned a petition calling for a delay in the removal of the cathedral to wait for further assessment by the National Cultural Heritage Council.
One of the oldest, most impressive cathedrals in Nam Dinh Province is about to be rebuilt due to disrepair.

According to Tuoi Tre, a renovation project carried out by by the Diocese of Bui Chu with support from local Catholics in Nam Dinh will begin mid-May 2019. The plan will obliterate the current Bui Chu Cathedral in Xuan Truong District and construct a new replica on the site using more durable materials.

Dang Ngoc Cuong, chairman of the Xuan Truong People's Committee, confirmed with Tuoi Tre reporters that the project is taking place. He added that Bui Chu pastors submitted their plan for renovation in 2016, but it was only approved in 2018. A local pastor says that reconstruction is necessary because the cathedral has deteriorated so much, posing danger to worshipers. Moreover, it currently cannot fully accommodate the local population of Catholic church-goers.

No Senate Intelligence Committee Republicans Publicly Stand Up for NC Richard Burr’s Rogue Donald Trump Jr. Subpoena

WASHINGTON, DC - DECEMBER 04: Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) leaves a closed briefing on intelligence matters on Capitol Hill on December 4, 2018 in Washington, DC. (Photo by Zach Gibson/Getty Images)

Guaranteed he's getting paid off. Even Susan Collins is against him.

Not one GOP senator on the Senate Intelligence Committee was willing to publicly align himself or herself on Wednesday evening with the panel’s chairman, Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), after Burr made the determination, against indications from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, to issue a subpoena to Donald Trump Jr. to testify again on the Russia probe.

News broke late Wednesday afternoon that Burr had issued Trump, Jr. a subpoena to try to compel the president’s eldest son to testify again. The subpoena is in contravention of a previous promise Burr made to Trump, Jr. that he would only need to testify once and would not be subpoenaed, and it contradicts McConnell’s edict on Tuesday that the Russia hoax is “case closed” after two years of investigating with no evidence of collusion or obstruction.

Tarboro: The Joys of Good Bread & World Equestrian Games Bring 500,000 Visitors to Polk County

 The Joys of Good Bread
The road to Tarboro
The couple, married for 24 years, work together like bread and butter. The two met at Fort Bragg, where they were both U.S. Army paratroopers. Franca, originally from Belgium, started baking early in the marriage because she couldn’t find good bread to feed their three children.

Alimentaire Wholesome Breads in Tarboro stands for a healthier, happier community

As a family and as business owners, the couple believes in “nourishment over convenience, flavor over cost and goodwill over profit.” With those principles, the Gilberts started Alimentaire Wholesome Breads in Tarboro, the only bakery in rural Edgecombe County.

“I don’t use chemical yeast,” Franca explains. “I use a sourdough starter for all the pastries and breads except the quick breads.”

“Alimentaire” is the French word for nourishment. The small bakery located right across from the town square sells baguettes, white sandwich loaves, wheat boules and ciabatta rolls, along with a variety of specialty breads, pastries, biscotti, cookies, scones and croissants.

The crowd gives an appreciative cheer as horse and rider enter the competition arena. They then grow quiet, almost a collective holding of breath, as the horse begins its gallop and sails over obstacles as high as five feet. Pure grace and athleticism are on display. As the duo completes its run, the crowd erupts into cheers and spectators from the rider’s home country proudly wave their country’s flag.

President Trump opposite President Xi Jinping of China

As a candidate for president, Donald Trump brought up China so many times it became a running meme … and now that he’s in the White House, his administration seems to be following through on his promises to apply pressure against the Asian superpower.

A lucrative arrangement for China which was inked during the Obama era has now been dismantled, after the Trump administration raised red flags over the prospect of the Chinese government controlling a U.S. port.

According to the South China Morning Post, the major issue is that Orient Overseas International — a company controlled by the Chinese government via a company called Cosco — owned the Long Beach Container Terminal in California.

The media won’t tell you this, but the two killers who shot up a Colorado high school were liberals. One was transgender, the other a registered Democrat, and both were Trump haters.

The two shooters who rampaged through a K-12 STEM school located in Douglas County were both liberals. Devon Erickson, 18, and a younger student who police first thought was a boy but later found to be a girl, were taken into custody after the shooting.

The Fall of Saigon......was once compared to the historic April of the United States (4-1865) and April the destiny of Vietnam (4-1975). The Northern Soldiers saluted when General Robert E. Lee rode to sign the surrender, No cheering, no happy shots from the winner. The Southerners  were not considered the army of treason. No Southern Officers went to jail. The winning side didn't touch or disturb them. The fallen cavalry had the right to bring horses back home to help the family plow their ground.

But it was a pact of  martyrs (Gentleman's agreement) of more than 100 years ago, it could not have been in this world with the  communists today.
