Gouverneur Morris in 1812

Northern secession was openly in the political brew again. Eleven (11) years before, Jefferson had cautioned New England’s desire to secede while accepting their sovereignty to choose as they wished. Since then extensive changes had come about. Jefferson was retired and Hamilton deceased.

Our landmass more than doubled with the Louisiana territory. 2 more States, Ohio and Louisiana, were added to the Union and more than 2 million people. But the greatest difference was that in 1801 we were at peace. In June 1812 we went to war and in July invaded Canada. The country was in upheaval. In Baltimore near July’s end several Federalist editors, supporters of Morris’s party and opposed to the war, were taken into protective custody. A mob broke into the jail, took them away and beat them. One died of his wounds. Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island refused the call for militia except to defend their own States. The fleets of New England and New York suffered great commercial losses. New York had become the preeminent commercial State in the Union. The war brought another showdown between the Hamiltonian (Federalist) and Jeffersonian (Democratic Republican) parties. Madison had hit a beehive and the bees were out to sting.

Are you ready for this?

Fred Reed is not optimistic about the summer of 2020:

Hoo-boy. She’s ready to explode, go high order. Smoking ruins, dead bodies, seething hatreds, and a country that can’t be put back together. It may not happen, but she looks ready. No one is in charge in this collapsing shell game of a country. In Louisville hundreds of armed blacks threaten to “burn the motherfucker down,” meaning Louisville, if they don’t get their way. All cringe before them, with reason. They have guns. Larger numbers marched in Georgia, armed, ready to rock and roll. BLM says it will “go into the suburbs” to get Whitey. Who will stop them? Not the government. It fears them. Weimar Kentucky. An American Freikorps.
America today in video. Scroll down to the New York footage. It’s Planet of the Apes.
So racist. I am literally shaking.
BLM wants to go into the suburbs to get Whitey. God help us. Then it will well and truly blow. BLM doesn’t know how many white men are sick of the chaos and destruction, sick of BLM. They quietly say, “Bring it on. Let’s settle it.”
Better sooner than later, I suppose. It's not as if the demographics are going to improve their chances over time.

CRAVEN COUNTY BATTLEFIELD PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION

 Picture

Gentleman,

As promised here is August 1, 2020 Newsletter. I planned to submit this newsletter as a Word Document but currently, the document will not upload so I desire to send it out through regular e-mail so everyone can receive it today. Once I can get the Word Document to open and upload it I will send it to everyone. I first and foremost have been keeping an eye on the hurricane in the South Atlantic and praying that North Carolina will not be affected by this Storm. Below are the main point in which is to be focussed on in August, 2020-December 31, 2020.

1) I have opened on the "Office of the President of the CRAVEN COUNTY BATTLEFIELD PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION for anyone desiring to run for this office, I have decided for the preservation of this organization and the preservation of New Berns Battlefields and Sites I will remain, President, if nobody desires to run for President. If you do desire to run for President please e-mail me so I can get a date/time out to post your story and desire to run for office so our current members and associates and vote.

2) The Current Racial Tensions in the United States stalled the CCBPA from receiving 100% in granted financial funds for three Fort Dixie signs. The donors also decided since Fort Dixie has been completely bulldozed they will not currently finance anything on signs where Fort Dixie was but 50% on matching funds. In September the donors who desire to remain anonymous will reconsider 100%.

3) Evans Mill Blockhouse: I have tried several times personally working with the owner of the Evans Mill Blockhouse and have not received any positive feedback on a change in Easements or allowing the CCBPA to purchase the Easement to ensure it is always held. It currently is held on an HOA Easement. I desire as many to still see signage and a location for visitors to visit this Blockhouse in the future.

4) Fort Croatan, Croatan Station, New Bern Battlefield, Evans Mill Tour: This Tour is scheduled for February 1, 2021, and all sites have been approved. I will send out the itinerary and how you can join the tour and any related cost once I have all the updated details from the owners. Anyone on the tour will have to sign a disclosure of agreement of understanding that if you have injured on any site the owners of the property are not responsible. "The Tour was pushed back due to several owners' concerns over COVID-19. This was a Tour I planned to guide in September.

5) New Bern Battlefield Parcel: This site of nearly over 11 acres is still in the process of being negotiated with the owner between the American Battlefields Trust and the owner. Once further information is available it will be sent out to everyone. I sent out a Battlefield Map by Steven Stanley on this site a few months ago. Anyone desiring to see it again please ask me and I'll resend it.

6) Batcheldor's Creek Battlefield Park Plan: This is a long term plan in which is still in the planning process and not expected to have full details until a few months from now. With the help of the SCV in North Carolina, Georgia, and the American Battlefields Trust I believe this can be made a reality.

7) Craven County Fairgrounds: Today the Craven County Fairgrounds contacted me asking to meet with their Representative to start the planned of an approved sign and to go over further details of the grounds in which on March 14, 1862, a large portion of the Battle of New Bern was fought. I want to thank the Fairgrounds for their appreciation of New Bern's history and the Battle of New Bern.

8) Trophy Gun and the Site of the First Shot of the Battle of New Bern: Months back I posted a Newsletter on information about the Trophy Gun that Mike Hitt has researched and traced to Kennesaw Mountain National Military Park where it sits today. This Cannon was the Cannon that fired the first shot of the Battle of New Bern under Latham's Battery whom Lt, Wheeler was in charge of this particular Gun. I desire to see a sign in the future placed off Old Cherry Point Road where this occurred and have further information provided on the Trophy Gun for the public.

9) Fort Thompson Line: The line in which runs over a mile is currently being sited for Confederate Regimental Markers to be placed along with the remains of this line that marks where each Confederate Regiment on March 14, 1862, was in place at the time of the opening of the Battle. The signs have already been approved for purchase and the money is available currently. The CCBPA has to have approval from all owners and be sure the signs would be protected. Time and date for sign placements along the Fort Thompson Line are desired for mid-2021. With this year's Racial Riots and we are desiring to allow everything to settle down before we invest in this so nothing is damaged.

" THE CRAVEN COUNTY BATTLEFIELD PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION IS IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS AT ALL LEVELS. I PERSONALLY AM OVERWHELMED IN THIS WORK BUT LOVE IT WAY TO MUCH TO STOP. I DO NOT BELIEVE NEW BERN'S HISTORY DESERVES TO BE FORGOTTEN AND JUST PUT TO THE SIDE. I AM ASKING ANYONE AVAILABLE, WILLING TO HELP IN ANYWAY TO UTILIZE YOUR SKILLS AT THE SMALLEST OR LARGEST LEVELS FOR THE BENEFIT OF NEW BERN'S BATTLEFIELD AND SITES PRESERVATION TO PLEASE CONTACT ME BVY E-MAIL, PHONE. THE MORE VOLUNTEER'S AND HELP WE AT THE CCBPA CAN OBTAIN THE FASTER WE CAN PRESERVE AND HAVE A WEBSITE UP IN NO TIME. I UNDERSTAND EVERYBODY HAS FAMILY'S TO SUPPORT AND I PERSONALLY MYSELF PLACE GOD, AND FAMILY BEFORE ANYTHING AND ANYBODY. NEVER ALLOW ANYTHING TO COME BEFORE THAT. I DESIRE FOR THE CURRENT CITIZENS, TOURIST AND THE FUTURE OF THIS COUNTRY TO ONE DAY BE ABLE TO SEE NEW BERN'S HISTORY THROUGH SIGNS, PRESERVED LAND AND MORE BOOKS FOCUSSED ON THE BATTLES AND CAMPAIGNS. I KNOW, TRUST AND BELIEVE IN WHAT WE ARE DOING AND THAT ARE AMBITION WILL PROVIDE ALL IN WHICH WE DESIRE."

God Bless you all and stay safe, I will be sending out the original Newsletter asap. Thank you for your patience.

Most Respectfully,

Timothy Lee Norman

America’s “Days of Rage”: The Extensive Left-Wing Bombings & Domestic Terrorism of the 1970s

As the summer of 2020 dawned, left-wing radical groups began rioting and taking over parts of America’s cities. While this specific form of left-wing violence is new, left-wing violence itself is far from new in the United States. Indeed, one of the most hidden and concealed parts of recent American history is the extensive left-wing violence that began in the late 1960s and continued into the 1980s.

At first, one might think that these were isolated incidents of small-scale “protest” or even minor violence. However, upon even brief examination, we find out that the outpouring of leftist violence over this time period was anything but minor. The most likely explanation for why you have never heard of this until now is that the events of these years have been consciously buried by those who would prefer you not know about them.

Ohio Board of Pharmacy to prohibit use of hydroxychloroquine and ...

Dear Mr. Kolodny,

Below is a comment to your article in the TN Star about the Ohio pharmacy board's attempt to ban HCQ, and the Governor intervening to reverse that.

I question how a drug that's been in widespread use worldwide for over 65 years can be called "controversial", especially since it has proven itself safe and effective? And what exactly is the "controversy" concerning the cellular mechanisms by which HCQ and zinc attack the virus? If you watch the first 15 minutes of the second session of the linked summit, you will see exactly how HCQ with zinc attacks the virus and prevents its replication. It is not only a preventative, but also a proven cure, especially in the early stages of the disease. The physicians presenting in that summit described thier front line experience with the drug, not some offhand comment unsupported by fact. The "fake science" attacking HCQ was so blatant that two leading medical journals had to retract the articles within 2 weeks.

------------------------

If you watch the first 15 minutes of the second session of the summit conducted by Americas Front Line Doctors (link below), you will see the 5 different mechanisms by which hydroxychloroquine attacks the virus. It is not only a preventative, but a cure, especially when combined with zinc. Anyone can have an opinion, it is much more difficult to dispute fact.

https://lbry.tv/@AmericasFrontlineDoctors2:6

Other presentations during that session detailed how physicians are being attacked by their state medical boards for prescribing hydroxycholorquine, and how the pharmacy boards are thwarting the efforts of physicians who prescribe it by refusing to fill the prescriptions - which is unprecedented arrogance on the part of the pharmacists.

Also, the virus has proven itself only slightly more infectious and no less lethal than the seasonal flu. So enough already, get the facts, and get back to your lives. Here's a link to a site that has compiled evidence world wide to support that assertion - the opposing argument is based on irrational fear, offhand comment, and unsupported hyperbole, nothing else. ANTIFA’s Top 5 Weapons

Dad, put money on my university meal card.

Editor’s Note: This article was written by Trace Munson and was first published by our friends over at Freedom’s Lodge. It is being syndicated here on GunsAmerica with their permission. We hope that you find it as amusing as we did 🙂

Even if you’ve been living under a rock, you have no doubt heard of ANTIFA–and that would probably be because some ANTIFA dork took that rock off the top of your head and hurled it at a cop. ANTIFA, which in the amusing doublespeak of the anti-gunner stands for “anti-fascist,” has been quite busy of late. Between fomenting riotsbreaking windows, and setting downtowns on fire, they have also found the time to create some…interesting…weapons technology.

In the interest of investigative journalism, I recently went undercover and infiltrated an ANTIFA weapons engineering center. I assure you that it was a fascinating tale of bravery and derring-do, but you’ll have to take my word on that one. Having escaped by a red Pelosi hair, I have returned with their latest top-secret technology. Sit back and prepare to be impressed by the top 5 weapons of America’s latest media darlings!

Southern Poets and Poems, Part XI

Annabel Lee: Rhyme Scheme & Figurative Language - POEms

 image

A Series by Clyde Wilson

EDGAR ALLAN POE

Annabel Lee (One of my favorite poems to recite as a child.)

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
 By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea,
But we loved with a love that was more than love—
 I and my Annabel Lee—
With a love that the wingèd seraphs of Heaven
   Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
 My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsmen came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in Heaven,
 Went envying her and me—
Yes!—that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we—
Of many far wiser than we—
And neither the angels in Heaven above
Nor the demons down under the sea
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;

For the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams
 Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise, but I feel the bright eyes
 Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling—my darling—my life and my bride,
In her sepulchre there by the sea—
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

Michigan inn owners remove Norwegian flag after taking flak from folk mistaking it for Confederacy banner

What is red, has a white and blue cross and may make people call you a racist? A Norwegian flag… which owners of a Michigan inn decided to pull down after too many people got angry, thinking it represented the Confederacy.

The decision to remove the Norwegian flag that flew in front of The Nordic Pineapple bed and breakfast in St John’s, Michigan, was announced by owner Kjersten Offenbecker last week. The flag was a tribute to her and her husband Greg’s ancestry and flew on the front pillar of their establishment opposite the US national flag since they moved in in 2018.

“This flag is so often mistaken for the Confederate flag and people are often offended by it before they realize that they are mistaken,” she wrote on Facebook, adding that she still intends to fly it on special occasions and maybe “find a less conspicuous place” for it.

“We love being members of the St. Johns community and are heartbroken to have had to make this decision,” she said.

Republicans, There Is No Downside to Defending Southern History

Fort Benning, near Columbus, Georgia, entrance.

The Republican Party has committed a major unforced error by backing Elizabeth Warren's amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which changes the names of United States Army bases in the South named for Confederate officers.

That mistake could cost Republicans the election, which promises to be close.

Republicans may now lose the electoral votes of some or all of the following states because changing Confederate named bases in the South right before the election, which is just 95 days away as of July 30, will put a horribly bad taste in the mouths of millions of Republican voters, and Democrats are sure to make that taste as close to raw sewage as they can get with constant hate and agitation on the issue:

The Atlantic Gets It Wrong, Again

I don’t have time to detail everything the piece in question gets wrong, because it’s a lot. I’m sure this will be fodder for Abbeville posts for a long time, so I’m going to focus on the Constitutional issues.

Stephanie McCurry writes:

“In late February 1861, in Montgomery, Alabama, the seven breakaway states formed the C.S.A.; swore in a president, Jefferson Davis; and wrote a constitution. That constitution aimed to perfect the original by dispensing with all the issues about slavery and representation that had plagued political life in the former U.S. The document recognized the constituent states as sovereign entities (though it did not confer on them the right to secede, confirming Lincoln’s point that no government ever provides for its own dissolution). It put the country under God and mandated a one-term presidency, of six years. It purged the original of euphemisms, using the term instead of in its three-fifths and fugitive-slave clauses. It bound the Congress and territorial governments to recognize and protect “the institution of negro slavery.” But the centerpiece of the Confederate constitution—the words that upend any attempt to cast it simply as a copy of the original—was a wholly new clause that prohibited the government from ever changing the law of slavery: “No … law denying or impairing the right of property in negro slaves shall be passed.” It also moved to limit democracy by explicitly confining the right to vote to white men. Confederates wrote themselves a pro-slavery constitution for a pro-slavery state.”

New polls, at least one of which leans solidly leftward, show President Donald Trump gaining ground on presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in nearly all “battleground” states and seems to indicate Trump is gaining ground in places like Minnesota, where civil unrest has been the worst.

Change Research, which operates as polling apparatus largely for Democratic candidates and organizations, is out with a new poll Wednesday showing Trump making big gains on Biden in “toss-up” states across the board, from Arizona to Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Florida — states Biden led by a considerable margin just two weeks ago.

Our cultural institutions are facing a moment of trial,” write the signatories of the now infamous Harper’s Letter. Despite the hysterical reactions it drew, the letter itself could not be more minimal or measured in its call for a check on “public shaming and ostracism, and the tendency to dissolve complex policy issues in a blinding moral certainty.” Last week, this warning was made tragically tangible, as friends and family grieved the loss of Mike Adams—conservative columnist, free speech activist, and gadfly professor of criminology at University of North Carolina Wilmington. A lifelong firearms enthusiast, Adams died by a gunshot wound, now confirmed to be self-inflicted.

NC: Sen. Ballard Statement on NCAE Suit to Keep Private Schooling Away from Low-Income Families

Far-left NCAE suing to stop low- and middle-income families from accessing scholarships for private schools

Program serves higher proportion of Black students than public schools

Reminder: Republicans have increased public education budget by $1,748 per student

Yesterday, the far-left N.C. Association of Educators (NCAE), which is aligned with Gov. Roy Cooper, sued to eliminate the Opportunity Scholarship program that helps low- and middle-income families afford private schooling. Gov. Roy Cooper has said for years that he wishes to defund the program.

A much higher proportion of Opportunity Scholarship applicants are Black (35%) than the proportion served by the public school system (25%). Polling consistently shows massive support for school choice, especially among Black respondents.

Programs like the Opportunity Scholarship empower parents with a choice in their children's education. The N.C. Supreme Court has already ruled that the Opportunity Scholarship program is Constitutional, and the U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that public funds can go to private schools.

Sen. Deanna Ballard (R-Watauga), who co-chairs the Senate Education Committee, said, "The far-left NCAE says it cares about equity in schooling, but it's suing to ensure low-income families can't afford to send their children to private school. Nobody disputes that children will suffer from public school closures, yet this suit would strip low-income children of the only chance they have to attend private schools, which are open for in-class instruction."

The evidence showing harm from school closures to at-risk children is overwhelming. If successful, the far-left NCAE's suit would restrict access to private, in-person instruction to only children from wealthy families. Eliminating Opportunity Scholarships would have a disparate impact on low-income communities and communities of color.

As a reminder, Republicans have increased public school funding by large amounts since coming into power in 2011. Education funding in North Carolina has increased by $968 per student in just four years, and $1,748 per student in nine years

Racial justice: The new religion? The "woke" movement is built on shows of "right thinking" and Puritan-style intolerance.

Via 4Branch

Since the death of George Floyd, a movement that condemns America as “systemically racist” has convulsed our public consciousness. Sixty years after the Civil Rights Act of 1964 — and despite decades of affirmative action, massive social welfare spending and a two-term Black president — we are told that “white supremacy” deforms America today, as it has throughout history.

The movement to eradicate “white privilege” manifests in demands to defund police and in the toppling of statues — not only of Confederate generals, but of figures such as Theodore Roosevelt, Ulysses S. Grant, even George Washington.

Educational, business, media, nonprofit and entertainment institutions have taken up the “systemic racism” mantra with breathtaking speed, issuing statements declaring their virtue and right thinking.

“I here repeat and would willingly proclaim my unmitigated hatred to Yankee rule — to all political, social and business connections with Yankees, and the perfidious, malignant and vile Yankee race.” ~~Edmund Ruffin 1865

"Forget the polity formerly known as America. It’s dead. Move on. We do not have anything even approximating a “movement.” It’s too late for all of that. We must forget national politics. The future lies in our communities. Our dwindling lives and resources are far better spent where they may be of use, in local and State politics, in building continuous enclaves to keep stoking the Promethean fire of the West against the nightmare now beginning to fall in torrents."

It is said that Grant at Appomattox offered rations and transportation home to Lee’s surrendered Americans, or to exile in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Many might have gladly avoided living under Northern rule, “but in distant homes were old men, helpless women and children, whose cry for help it was not hard to hear.” With all the destruction around them and carpetbaggers flowing Southward, “no one dreamed of what has followed.”

[Photos] Black-and-White Photos Capture the Life and Labor in 1991 Cho Lon

Famous Japanese photographer Doi Kuro once said: "Vietnamese people’s lives are exposed on every street. That’s fascinating." Perhaps that is why photographers visiting Vietnam usually focus on the city's human inhabitants. This set of photos is no exception.

The black-and-white photos were taken by French photographer Patrick Zachmann, a member of Magnum Photos, during his trip to Vietnam in 1991. During that time Zachmann was pursuing his in-depth work on the Chinese diaspora as well. Thus, it was no coincidence that he chose to focus on Cho Lon in Saigon, which is considered Vietnam’s largest Chinatown.

Zachman's photos authentically depict the simple but dynamic life of Cho Lon's labor force. Workers lounge in a youth hostel area, shirtless men take breaks in a dingy dye mill, and young women toil in a Biti’s shoe factory. Among the shots of the hoi polloi are portraits of ethnically Chinese heads of famous businesses in Vietnam.

CDC Director Says There are More Suicides and Overdoses than COVID Deaths
Where Redfield obtained his data is unknown, although a doctor at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, CA claimed the facility has “seen a year’s worth of suicide attempts in the last four weeks.” He did not say how many deaths occurred, or whether the statement was exaggerated for emphasis.
"What I have seen recently, I have never seen before," Hansen said. "I have never seen so much intentional injury,” said a nurse from the same hospital.

Center for Disease Control Director Robert Redfield testified in a Buck Institute webinar that suicides and drug overdoses have surpassed the death rate for COVID-19. Redfield argued that lockdowns and lack of public schooling constituted a disproportionally negative impact on young peoples’ mental health.

“We’re seeing, sadly, far greater suicides now than we are deaths from COVID. We’re seeing far greater deaths from drug overdose that are above excess that we had as background than we are seeing the deaths from COVID,” he said.
