During the filming of The Passion of the Christ, Jim Caviezel (starring
Jesus) lost 45 pounds, struck by lightning, whipped twice accidentally,
leaving a 14 inch scar, broken dislocated the shoulder and had
pneumonia and hypothermia. from being hung almost naked on the cross for
a few hours outside. His body was so stressed and exhausted from his
role that he had to have heart surgery 2 times after production! The
crucifixion took 5 weeks during the 2 month shoot.
The Passion of
the Christ is the highest-grossed R-rated film of all time in America,
with $ 370,8 million! Worldwide, it has collected $ 611 million. Most
importantly, it has reached many souls around the world. Mel Gibson
spent his own pocket paying $ 30 million for production because no film
company ever took the project and Jim Caviezel was warned not to take
the role of Jesus as it would ruin it your career.
Today is Jim Caviezel's birthday and he is 51 He proudly declares his faith in God amid Hollywood's atheism.
Thank God for people like him who will step out to do what sounds
unhappy ", but it's God's Word and the story of his salvation. Happy
birthday, Jim Caviezel! I'm looking forward to the next part of this
great movie.

Mel and Jim wear the LIMITLESS ONE'S armor as they take a short journey on this celestial plain. They, as others, have eyes that see and ears that hear. The Passion is an exceptional movie that was made by human beings who do not worship money. Have another look at the movie and see/feel it's divine message. In truth it is about divine intervention. Think about what this life in all aspects 'here' really is.
ReplyDeleteThat movie changed my life (and my husband's)....most probably saved us from hell. We watch it every year on Ash Wednesday as a sober lead-in to Lent. I praise and thank God for Mel Gibson and Jim Caviezel. That movie was the channel for MANY miracles and conversions, and God is still doing His work in and through it...yes, very difficult to watch...but what He did for us and for our salvation was more than 'difficult'. I (we) owe it to Him to witness it....it still rips me to the bone, and that is a very good thing...it forces me to remember.

I was still living in Gator Country when I saw the movie. I went with a bunch of fellow Christian women, and we got there a bit late so had to sit very close to the screen. A young man was sitting next to me and he had his barrel of popcorn ready to go. He chomped loudly throughout the entire movie. I attributed it to deep nervous reaction, so didn't' bother him about the racket. IT was a truly amazing movie on many levels. Was it too cruel and bloody? Was it cruel and bloody enough? Considering what Jim Caviezel suffered as an actor and what a reaction it got from the Critics (too mean to the Jews! the devil looks gay...too Catholic...not scripturally accurate...too much artistic license...) I loved Gibson's response: If you don't like what I did, go make your own movie!
ReplyDeleteI recently read that Mel Gibson just sent a draft of the "Sequel" to Jim. At the end of the Passion, I was sitting there, dumbstruck saying "Please, don't let it end without showing Jesus alive." So powerful with just the glimmer of light shining through into the burial tomb directly on the Risen Jesus. I had no idea how badly Jim suffered physically while filming the movie. Thank Mel Gibson for not succumbing to the stereotypes of using a Kazarian-looking actor to play Jesus. Jim Caviezel was perfectly cast, and I can't wait to see what part of the Great Story Gibson will tell next.
