I’m sorry, but this is utter nonsense. If anything, as soon as it became clear our local health system would not be forced into triage, things should have started reopening. But instead, we’re extending this madness…
One more week for countless small businesses to die. One more week of people living with unbearable toothaches. One more week of my wife being half-blinded by cataracts. One more week of record unemployment… And for what?

Gov. Roy Cooper (D-NC) just extended North Carolina’s statewide stay-at-home-order to May 8 — and has done so for no valid reason I can think of.

As of the end of April, we will have been in total lockdown for a full month, and now we face another week of this, and nothing about it makes sense.

Throughout our entire state, there have been only 8,830 confirmed coronavirus cases, 305 deaths, and, as of now, our state’s hospitals must look awfully barren with only 451 people hospitalized for the coronavirus and all elective procedures and surgeries canceled.

Our worst hot spot is Mecklenberg County, home of Charlotte, but that urban area saw only 1,482 cases and 41 deaths.

So with these numbers, what is the point of continuing the lockdowns?

Isn’t the whole point of the lockdown to ensure our health care system doesn’t crash? So where in North Carolina is there any fear of the health system crashing — I mean, other than from bankruptcy, because the hospitals are all empty due to the outlawing of elective procedures?

Okay, maybe Charlotte and Raleigh and some other cities are a concern. Fine, extend their lockdowns… But why my county?

As of April 27, Vietnam’s Ministry of Health confirmed a total of 270 cases of COVID-19. However, 225 of the affected patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Vietnam’s Prime Minister issued Directive No. 19 on measures to cope with COVID-19 on April 25. The measures include the washing of hands, and wearing masks while banning religious gatherings, festivals, and sporting events. In addition, bars, pubs, beauty salons, and karaoke bars will continue to remain closed until further notice.

Vietnam’s locally made test kit for COVID-19 has been approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) after enduring five rounds of testing and quality assessments.

Vietnam ended the social isolation guidelines at the end of April 22, though restrictions will continue in some high-risk areas. While the social isolation guidelines in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have also been lifted, some restrictions continue to remain for bars, clubs, spas, theaters, sports centers, and others while the gathering of more than 20 people is prohibited. Restaurants and eateries that operate must comply with strict guidelines from local authorities.

WWI Pistols

Originally designed as a weapon to be used by cavalry, the pistol became the principal weapon for an assortment of personnel during World War One. While standard issue to officers on both sides of the war, militaries around the world issued the pistol to tank crews, military police, and airmen.

Pistols were the only weapons that were practical in tight spaces. The confined environments of both armored vehicles and aircraft made the use of rifles all but impossible for tank operators and airmen.
When the war started in 1914, three types of pistols were in use: revolvers, clip-loaded automatics, and the blowback models in which a propellant gas force the bolt back after firing, causing the gun to reload.

Historically, armies typically manufactured their own standard issue pistols using contractors. 

However, material and manufacturing shortages dictated militaries would have to put other models to use on the battlefield.

Attorney General Bill Barr Issues DOJ Memo: “The Constitution is Not Suspended in Times of Crisis”…

The U.S. Department of Justice, Attorney General Bill Barr, has issued a memo (pdf here) citing a needed balance between COVID-19 mitigation efforts and U.S. civil rights under the constitution.  Notably AG Barr identifies both “religious freedom”, and “undue interference with the national economy” within his memo.

[…] “Many policies that would be unthinkable in regular times have become commonplace in recent weeks, and we do not want to unduly interfere with the important efforts of state and local officials to protect the public. But the Constitution is not suspended in times of crisis. We must therefore be vigilant to ensure its protections are preserved, at the same time that the public is protected” (citation)

Vietnam is a classic example. It began lifting lockdown restrictions last week after claiming it had not suffered a single coronavirus death. Despite sharing a huge border with China and having a population of 95 million, Vietnam acted quickly to enforce a strict lockdown followed by a swift return to normal. Cafes and shops in Hanoi began reopening last week and everyone is smiling. There were 268 infections in total—not bad for a population of 95 million—but not one of these infections led to death. A study released Monday by the Boston-based Pioneer Institute reveals a historic drop in national reading and math scores among U.S. students since the adoption of the Common Core Curriculum Standards a decade ago.

“Nearly a decade after states adopted Common Core, the empirical evidence makes it clear that these national standards have yielded underwhelming results for students,” said Pioneer executive director Jim Stergios in a statement. “The proponents of this expensive, legally questionable policy initiative have much to answer for.”

NYT’s Friedman: ‘Depths of Despair’ by Crushing the Economy Will Kill More People Than Coronavirus Itself

Monday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman discussed his recent column, entitled, “We Need Herd Immunity From Trump and the Coronavirus.”

As states and local governments weigh when to reopen the economy after a lengthy quarantine around the United States, Friedman urged the importance of finding a balance in saving lives and saving livelihoods because he believes a poor economy will “kill so many more people than the virus itself.”

Former Chief of Neuroradiology at Stanford University Medical Center Dr. Scott Atlas appeared on FOX News’ The Next Revolution with Steve Hilton on Sunday night to discuss his popular column on the coronavirus titled, ‘Science says: It’s time to start easing the lockdowns’ in the New York Post.

Dr. Atlas argued that multiple recent studies from Iceland, Germany, USC, Stanford and New York City all suggest that the fatality rate if infected is likely far lower than early estimates, perhaps under 0.1 to 0.4 percent, i.e., 10 to 40 times lower than estimates that motivated extreme isolation by Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx.

Who'd have thought that a simple backyard BBQ would become an act of civil disobedience, yet, here we are!
Saturday May 2nd, lets all send a message to Gov. Cooper that NC Citizens will not be ruled over, we are free people and we do not need permission to live our lives!
A backyard BBQ doesn't seem like much but it is a start. If people all over our State will commit to hosting or attending a gathering in their own areas, we can send a clear message to #KingCooper and we all get to have some fun while doing it!

1. Plan a backyard BBQ for Saturday (or any type of gathering)
2. Invite at least 11 of your friends or family or even your community
