Horowitz: Wall construction under Biden? Red states can complete border wall in Texas and Arizona

 Via Hal

Work with Mexico, build the wall, and make Biden pay for it?

What can states do when the federal government not only keeps its border open, but directly invites the cartels and smugglers to bring in potentially millions of new migrants, along with cartel members, gangsters, and previously deported criminals? That is a question we never thought we'd have to grapple with, but it is of vital importance for our national security and communities.

In January, I laid out the constitutional case for states to secure the border when the federal government is actively working against border security, one of the foundational purposes for the states to create a federal government in the first place. Now, one Texas lawmaker is introducing a bill that could serve as the impetus for states actually securing some degree of control over the border.

Yankees 38, VMI 3

Could it be any clearer that the bulk of time and effort in the classroom is spent not on learning math, but, rather, learning to hate capitalism and Western culture and to resist supposed racism whether or not it actually exists? Students subjected to Equitable Math probably will not learn much mathematics, but they will surely learn to be good little social justice warriors.

The Virginia Military Institute, ever the underdog. . . . For longtime VMI football fans, the above score may be all-too-painfully reminiscent. I recall the first time I heard of VMI. It was a University of Maryland vs. VMI football game in 1971. I was captivated by VMI from then on and began there as a “Rat” five years later. My father taught physics at Maryland and we typically had football season tickets. The Maryland games then weren’t much to watch – from 1969 to ‘71, Maryland was 3-7, 2-9, 2-9, and they always lost to Penn State. But the Shakey’s pizza on the way home from the usual drubbing was great fun.

The 53rd NC & The Great Snowball Fight Plus The Legendary Dalton Snowball Fight; and Sticks, Fists and Rocks at Orange Courthouse

The 53rd NC & The Great Snowball Fight

My great grandfather and great uncle were in the 53rd.

The Great Snowball Battle of Rappahannock Academy, February 25, 1863

Two back-to-back snowstorms in February of 1863 provided the ammunition for a friendly snowball battle amongst rival divisions of Confederate troops near Fredericksburg, Virginia. On February 19, eight inches of snow fell on the region. Two days later, nine inches of snow fell. On February 25, sunny skies and mild temperatures softened the deep snow cover, providing ideal conditions for making snowballs.

During this time, the Confederate Army was camped near Fredericksburg. Some of the Divisions of the army had been reorganized, which had created friendly rivalries between the Confederate brigades and regiments. This helped spark a huge snowball battle near Rappahannock Academy in which approximately 10,000 Confederate soldiers participated. One soldier who participated in the snowball battle described it as one of the most memorable combats of the war.”

The battle started on the morning of February 25, 1863, when General Hoke’s North Carolina soldiers marched towards Colonel Stiles’ camp of Georgians, with the intent of capturing the camp using only snowballs. The attacking force, composed of infantry, cavalry and skirmishers, moved in swiftly. Battle lines formed and the fight began with “severe pelting” of snowballs. Reinforcements arrived from all sides to assist the brigade under attack. Even the employees of the commissary joined the snowball battle. Soon, the attacking soldiers were pushed back.

Hoke’s beaten soldiers retreated back to their camp. Colonel Stiles then held a Council of War on how best to attack the retreating force. He decided to organize his men and march directly into their camp, with snowballs in hand. When Stile’s forces finally arrived in Hoke’s camp, they were quite surprised to find that their adversaries had rallied and filled their haversacks to the top with snowballs. This allowed Hoke’s soldiers to provide an endless barrage of snowballs “without the need to reload.” The attacking force was quickly overwhelmed and many of their soldiers were captured and “whitewashed” with snow. The snowball battle came to an end and both brigades settled back into their respective camps. The captured prisoners were quickly paroled and returned to their camp, to much heckling from fellow soldiers. It was noted that General Stonewall Jackson had witnessed the snowball battle. One soldier remarked that he had wished Jackson and staff had joined the fight so he could have thrown a snowball at “the old faded uniforms.”

The weather turned mild and rainy in the following days. Other snowball battles were documented during the Civil War – including a snowball fight at Dalton, Georgia – but The Snowball Battle of Rappahannock Academy was unique in size, strategy and ample snow cover. The depth of the snow cover on the day of the battle was documented in a soldier’s diary to be 12 inches.

Caption should say 1864, not 1863.

The Legendary Dalton Snowball Fight; and Sticks, Fists and Rocks at Orange Courthouse

H. McInnis of Lakeland, Fla. in 1895 wrote: "Allow me to say something about that grand snowball battle we had at Dalton, Georgia. In the early morning there was light skirmishing between our Brigade (Findley's) and Tyler's Brigade across the road. We saw that Tyler's men were going to charge us so we went to work and soon had breastworks built out of snow and in a short while the warning was given: 'Look out, boys, they are coming!' Then that blood chilling, on one side, and soul-cheering Rebel Yell was raised, and such a scene was hardly ever witnessed before. Tyler's men had the best of it and took possession of our quarters. Then we concentrated both brigades and charged and captured Gen. Walker's Brigade over another hill, and so on all day. Long live the Veteran!"

Zuckerberg-Funded Group ACCESSED Mail-In Ballots BEFORE Election, Bombshell Emails Claim

This raises a few questions:

Why did states appear to allow Zuckerberg to “help” with the election?

Why was the group allowed to access mail-in ballots before the election?

Were there any safeguards in place to make sure that no funny business happened?

These are legitimate questions about the reliability of our electoral process!

Biden’s Covid Relief Could Pay Families $92,000 This Year for Not Working

Image

The combination of child tax credits, enhanced unemployment benefits, and stimulus payments in the newly signed Covid relief bill could create a powerful disincentive for working.

Just how much? A bit of back-of-the-envelope math suggests that a family with two parents who are not working and three minor children could make the equivalent income of more than $92,000.

Let’s start with unemployment benefits. The covid relief bill puts a $300 per week enhancement on top of regular state benefits. In New Jersey, the average state unemployment insurance payment is $419 per week. So that’s $719 per week for each parent or $1,438 per household. That is the equivalent of earning $74,776.

Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) warned the universal checks will translate into a national gun registry.  The Wall Street Journal quoted Good saying, “This bill creates a de facto gun registry by involving the federal government in every gun transfer, including private transfers and gifts, or else how will we enforce these requirements?”

Good added, “For my Democrat friends who suggest that conservatives and gun owners are paranoid about a national registry, you bet we are.”

A significant gun control measure mandating universal background checks passed the Democrat-controlled House Thursday with the help of eight Republicans.

CNN reports the eight Republicans were: (Looks like Trump will have 8 more to primary.)

Battery Buchanan, named for Admiral Franklin Buchanan, CSN, is located about one mile south of Fort Fisher and provided a citadel for the fort’s garrison in case of being overwhelmed by enemy forces.  The fort finally fell in mid-January 1865. The following was an incident told in Capt. Claudius B. Denson’s “Memorial Address on General Whiting,” delivered in Raleigh on Memorial Day, 1895. It was written to Capt. Denson by Sergeant Glennan.

Denson was a Virginian who in 1858 founded the first military school in North Carolina, located at Faison in Duplin County and known as the Franklin Military Institute. With the approach of war in 1861, the cadets were among the first to offer their services to the Governor.

‘Equity’ is ‘Quotas’ in Disguise

 https://image.slidesharecdn.com/newwomen1-140709141758-phpapp02/95/women-empowerment-18-638.jpg?cb=1404915510

Via John "Simply put, this is legalized racism, whereby some people are punished for their skin color and others are institutionally rewarded for their darker skin color. Skin color is a birth characteristic over which the person has no control. No one should have to apologize for things over which they have NO control. How did we arrive at such an inequitable fantasy?"

One of the more popular buzzwords in Washington, DC, and state capitols is “equity.” To most people, it sounds a lot like “equality,” a term that in the popular consciousness means equal treatment under the law.

But equity doesn’t mean equality. As Prof. Charles Lipson writes, the wide difference between the two concepts has been intentionally blurred to cover a profoundly anti-equality political agenda:

It’s the difference between equal treatment and equal outcomes. Equality means equal treatment, unbiased competition and impartially judged outcomes. Equity means equal outcomes, achieved if necessary by unequal treatment, biased competition and preferential judging.

Mexican President Says Biden Border Policies 'Encouraging Illegal Immigration' And Enriching Cartels

 Via 4Branch

One anonymous Mexican official told Reuters that cartels have been using sophisticated smuggling techniques "from the day Biden took office," such as using technology to thwart authorities, making smuggling operations appear as travel agencies, and keeping migrants up to date on the latest immigration rules.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador says US President Joe Biden's immigration policy is encouraging illegal immigration, and brings revenue to drug cartels through human trafficking operations at the US border.

According to the Reuters, Mexico has asked the Biden administration to assist by providing developmental help to Central America, where tens of thousands of migrants embark on a journey through Mexico in the hopes of reaching the United States and gaining asylum.

"They see him as the migrant president, and so many feel they’re going to reach the United States," said AMLO (via Reuters) following a March 1 virtual meeting with Biden. "We need to work together to regulate the flow, because this business can’t be tackled from one day to the next."
