Crimes Against Humanity

It is time to consider the crimes committed against Southern prisoners of war by their federal captors. In 1903, Adj. Gen. F. C. Ainsworth estimated that more than 30,000 Union and 26,000 Confederates died in captivity (that is 12% died in the North and 15.5% in the South). However, the numbers and the death rate of Confederate prisoners were vastly understated first, because many captives died without their deaths being recorded and secondly, the winners did not wish to admit to the hideous rate with which those at their mercy perished. Indeed, Rhodes admitted that there should have been a much greater disparity—even using his own numbers—in favor of survival for those imprisoned in the North, given the superior conditions existing such as physicians, hospitals, medicines, food, supplies and housing. But the simple fact is this: from the beginning of the War, the federal government intended to “make treason odious” by treating captured Confederate soldiers as traitors and rebels rather than legitimate prisoners of war.

Britain, France and Abolition

http://www.mbeki.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/The-Black-Jacobins.jpg

After the loss of her American colonies and intense colonial economic competition with France, the British government became abolition-minded not out of pity for those they had purchased from African tribes to labor in America and the West Indies, but to destroy the successful French colony of San Domingo – as well as the American South’s labor system from which Yankee shipping interests were earning vast fortunes.

This was not lost on John C. Calhoun, who in mid-August 1844 wrote American Minister to France William R. King that “It is too late in the day to contend that humanity or philanthropy is the great object of the policy of England in attempting to abolish slavery on this continent. [In abolishing slavery in her colonies], She acted on the principle that tropical products can be produced cheaper by free African labor and East India labor, than by slave labor.”

Calhoun contended that England “calculated to combine philanthropy with profit and power, as is not unusual with fanaticism,” with the experiment turning out to be a costly one. And in order to regain her superiority, England must destroy her economic competition through emancipation.

Tom Cotton: By Sending FEMA to the Border, the Biden Administration Is Admitting It’s a Disaster

“[A]t no point in that rambling, incoherent answer did Nancy Pelosi even come close to expressing a rational thought about what’s happening at the border. What they inherited from the Trump administration was a border that was closed. We were building a wall, and we were turning away all migrants who had no right to cross into our country. The border — the Biden border crisis, though was created by Joe Biden’s promises of amnesty and open borders and free healthcare for illegals during the campaign. That’s why border crossings have increased every month since the election.”

Ted Cruz Unloads on Military Twitter Accounts Targeting Tucker Carlson

Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz launched a challenge Sunday to military personnel who have publicly attacked Fox News host and Daily Caller cofounder Tucker Carlson.

I’ve demanded a meeting with the Commandant of the USMC to put a stop to it.”

NAGR: Beware Tennessee's 'Faux' Constitutional Carry Bill

 Dated.

The National Association  for Gun Rights (NAGR) is sounding the alarm on SB-765/HB-786, Tennessee's so-called “Constitutional Carry” bill.

Constitutional Carry is a policy that makes it so law-abiding citizens do not have to ask the government permission to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

According to the gun rights organization, the bill that Gov. Bill Lee supports “contains anti-gun provisions,” including measures “to impose permit eligibility requirements on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens to carry firearms.”

What’s more, NAGR reports, “Constitutional Carry would not be extended to law-abiding adults, including single mothers between the ages of 18-21, or for those who carry long guns.”

That’s not all. This bill, which NAGR has labeled “Confused Carry,” would create a new misdemeanor carry offense that Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA) has championed and has tried to get established at the federal level.
