I'm a Dead Sandy Hook Teacher

Via WRSA, Denninger & Absolute Survivalist:

I want to tell you about my recent death. I will be brief, because I know there are many other stories to be told about my tragic day. I hope that my death brings about the the type of conversation that will help to prevent more unnecessary deaths of teachers and children, or of any persons caught in similar circumstances.

I was a normal person. I liked many of the things that you like. But mostly I loved my children and I loved teaching them. That is what I was doing four days ago on the day that I died, when a man out of his mind attacked us in our sanctuary.

I am sure you already know most of the story, so I won't reopen that wound if I can avoid it. However, the part that you may not know about, and never hear about is the fact that I was prevented from protecting myself and my children. That's right, the school board, the state, and the federal government told all teachers including me, that so long as we were on school grounds that we could not defend ourselves against a deranged person, hell bent on killing us.

When the man came into my room armed with a rifle, we were huddled in the corner. He shot me with a rifle several times, the bullets easily passing through my body and through several children behind me. We didn't have a chance. The inadequate training we received to combat such a person or situation failed. I know you will mourn our deaths, and you should. But when you get to that point of being mad, ask why we were not allowed to defend ourselves? Ask how it is that an unarmed school teacher can be asked to defend themselves and the children under her care against an armed aggressor? Why don't they ask police to be unarmed and defend themselves against aggressors?

So far, it is nice here in Heaven. We are not beyond The Gates yet - the line is very long. We do have many people from the other side of The Gates who have come out to help us with the transition. Some of them are familiar faces to us, and some are not. Some are helping us grieve, while others are helping us to understand our new reality, but all of us are happy. It is impossible not to be happy here.

I met a fine young man from the military shortly after I arrived here. He is not from this era, but one long before my time. He presented me with this computer so I could write this to you. It was funny when he saw the expression on my face and said, "we have a very special Wi-Fi connection up here." I couldn't help but laugh. It's obvious they have dealt with this before.

I asked him what he wanted me to write. He told me to write whatever I wanted. We both sat silently for a while when he suddenly asked if I had any questions. As I started to speak, he indicated that he could not answer any questions about the other side of The Gate, so I just asked his name.

"John Smith," he replied, still looking forward at the children standing patiently in line. "I fought and died in the Revolutionary War."
"I am sorry," I replied.
"Why are you sorry?"
"Because you died fighting in a war...a very horrible war," I said to him, the tears starting to well. He was so young.
"So did you," he said as he turned his head to look at me. "That is why I was sent out here for you."
"What?" I said incredulous at his false assertion.
With calmness and much love in his teenaged voice he said, "I know it is hard for you to see, or even believe, but you and I fought the same kind of war for the same reasons. The difference is I volunteered for my war and wore a uniform and you did not volunteer. Even your children," he rotated his eyes towards the line of six and seven year old angels standing in front of us, "fought the war."
"I don't understand."
"I died in 1778 fighting under George Washington. I was fighting for the Liberties granted to all men by God that had been stolen from us by King George and the British Crown..."

I was a school teacher. I had to cut him off before he went too far. "I know these things, John. I taught school remember?"
"Yes ma'am, but did you know about all of the tyrannous legislative Acts imposed upon the people?"
"Sure. There was the Stamp Act and the Tea Act that eventually spawned the Boston Tea Party," I responded.
"Yes ma'am, but there were many more, both before and after those most infamous ones. There was the Sugar Act, the Currency Act, the Quartering Act, the Declaratory Act, the Townshend Revenue Act, the Boston Non-importation Agreement, the Boston Port Act, the Administration of Justice Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, Quartering Act of 1774, and the Quebec Act. This was the government's way of stripping the God Given Natural Born Rights of mankind in the new colonies. These are but some of the things that added to the fuel that became the Revolutionary War. The 'shot heard 'round the world' were the attempts by the redcoats to kidnap Sam Adams and John Hancock as well as deny the use of arms by capturing gunpowder."
"That's all well and good Mr. Smith, but I still don't understand why you believe I am fighting a war too," which was more of a question to him than a statement. I was feeling like I was back in school myself.

John continued, "It is not just you, but tens of thousands of you fighting the new Revolutionary War."
"No. You're mistaken, Mr. Smith."
"Do you believe the Revolutionary War was a good fight? That is was worth the cost?"
"Well...yes."
"Do you believe we could have won that war if our motives had not been Just and Right in the eyes of God?"
"No. But they were Just. You and your men were fighting for our freedom from unjust laws imposed upon the people by a king across an ocean," I told him, showing him that I had retained my education about the Revolutionary War.
"Do you believe we could have fought a war against the redcoats had we been disarmed?"
"Well, of course not!"
"Then why would you believe that you could defend yourself and your children against a gunman with no arms yourself?"

I was shocked and dumbstruck. I didn't believe such a thing...or did I? No, I know that I didn't believe such a thing. That was ridiculous. My head was spinning. How could he make such an assertion? He doesn't know me...

"Then why were you unarmed?" he asked softly.
"What!?" Could he hear me thinking?
"If you don't believe that you could defend yourself and your children against a gunman with no arms yourself, then why were you not carrying a gun?"
"We can't carry guns in school!" I wanted to be mad, but I couldn't be. Not in this place.
"Says who?"
"Says the law."
"What law are you speaking of? God made no such law. God gave you the Right to defend yourself and those in your charge against such aggression," he stated, still speaking softly.
"The laws of the country and state say that schools are 'gun free zones.' They even have signs all around the school."
"How did that work out for you and your children?" John asked as he got up and walked away.

Before I had a chance to answer or call him back, a woman on the other side of me, who I never noticed before addressed me.

"He's right. You were fighting a new war, along with many others who have now passed on. There are still others fighting it now."
"I still don't understand how I was fighting a war. And who are you?"
"It is probably better that I don't tell you who I am. The news media painted myself and others like me with a broad brush in order to turn the people against us, and I was killed in a fire holding my children. But like you, we were unwittingly fighting the same war.""Exactly what war is that?" I wanted to know.
After a brief pause, she looked up at the line of children, took a deep breath and began, "the war to retain the Rights and Liberties God gave you when you were born..."
"I have all of my Rights. What are you talking about?" I interrupted.
"Yes ma'am, you do have them, but you don't practice them for fear of retribution by your government," the unknown woman said.
"No, I did everything I wanted to do." I told her.
"Did you?"
"Of course I did," answering her rhetorical question.
"Ok, I believe you. But let me ask you this. If you had to do it all over again, would you have taken a gun to school with you this morning?"
"Well...no. I would have gotten fired."
"So it is more important to you to keep your job than your life, or to preserve the lives of those children?" she asked.
"What? NO! That is not what I was saying." I had to pause and collect my thoughts. "I am saying that I am not allowed to have a gun at school, and that if I had taken one to school, and used it to defend myself or the children, that I would have been fired and most likely put in jail," I restated to her.
"My question still stands. You would still choose the shackles of tyranny over the life of yourself and your children. You feared the retribution of government more than you fear the retribution of God," she said as she looked towards The Gate.
"No. That's not true. I couldn't...There was no...The laws don't allow..."
She put her hand on my shoulder and looked at the side of my face as I stared at The Gate, "You don't have to answer to me. God knows that Adam Lanza killed the children, your co-workers and yourself. But he also knows that you chose to follow man's laws over His laws, for which twenty beautiful children now stand at The Gates waiting their turn to get in, and He may want an explanation for that."

I went cold. I was numb. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I turned to look at her, but she was gone. As I turned back to The Gate, I saw a police officer and an older military man approaching me. I wondered what was going to happen now.

"Ma'am. We know you may be confused. Maybe even reeling a bit. Sometimes the truth can be harsh and painful. We hope to help you through a little bit more of it," the police officer said as he neared me.

They each took a seat on either side of me. It was only now that I realized that we were not sitting on anything at all, just air. Maybe that explained the comfort. I wasn't ready to hear any more, but I was certain they were going to deliver it anyway, even against my objections if I chose to lodge one.

"I'm Officer Tally, and this is Sergeant Munson. We wanted to help you understand a few more things about this morning."
"I am not sure I can take any more guys," I said meekly.
"You can. You're stronger than you realize," Sergeant Munson tried to reassure me.
"I don't know about that."
Officer Tally started, "You were taught to put your faith in men like us. Men who volunteered to step in harms way to protect and defend the defenseless, and we gladly did so."
Sergeant Munson continued the thought, "But what they did not teach you was the part about you taking the personal responsibility for yourself in the event we cannot make it in time."
"...and we generally cannot make it in time," Officer Tally finished.
"I don't understand."
Officer Talley continued, "Using this morning as an example, several people were already dead or injured before the call to police came in. Even though an officer was on the scene within one minute after receiving the call, serious damage had already been done. A mass murder had already been committed in that short sixty seconds. Even after officers entered the building, they saw the gunman enter a room from the hallway. Before they could make it to him, he was shooting teachers and children."
Sergeant Munson continued the conversation, "Had the teachers and staff, including yourself had guns for defense of yourselves and the children and the proper training to use them, the outcome would have likely been much different. The teachers and staff would have been able to attack the shooter from multiple angles and ended the hostilities long before they reached these dimensions," he was gesturing towards the line of happy children who were talking with other children who had come out from the other side of The Gates.
"But..."
"There is no but," the Sergeant calmly stated. "We know what you are going to say, and those measures don't work against someone who is intent upon killing. Taking guns and weapons away does not prevent mass murderers from committing their acts of violence, it only prevents the unarmed people from properly defending themselves against such people. Connecticut has some of the most oppressive and strict gun laws in the United States, and still the massacre happened there, not in Alaska or Wyoming where gun laws are minimal."
Officer Tally put his arm around me and said, "There was an Assault Weapons Ban that started in 1994 and ended in 2004 that prevented the sale and manufacture of certain types of guns and magazines. There is also the National Firearms Act of 1934 and the Gun Control Act of 1968, but none of these laws prevented Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold from committing mass murder at Columbine High School in 1999. In fact, they broke multiple federal and state laws in the planning and executing stages of their killing spree. Not a single one of the man made laws stopped them, or prevented them from killing twelve children and one teacher that day. But had the teachers and staff been following their Natural Born Rights to self-protection that day, maybe things would have turned out differently."

On the computer screen in my lap an article appeared. It was an article about mass murders by knife and bomb. Most of these occurred in places where guns had been outlawed. The Osaka School Massacre grabbed my attention, because I noticed that it involved children the same age as mine. The man had used a kitchen knife to murder 8 children and seriously wound 13 more children and two teachers. There was also a story of a man that killed 8 children with a knife at another elementary school. The list was very long, with many different ways that killers had adapted to the laws of the land to use what was available to them to commit their crimes, including knives and explosives.

Officer Tally pointed to the screen, "most people forget that one of the worst mass murders in history was perpetrated by men with box cutters. They were able to kill over 3000 men, women, and children. What would have happened if multiple people on those airplanes had been following God's laws by carrying guns for self-protection?"
"Explosive decompression?" I said rhetorically.
"That's a myth," the sergeant said, "unless you were talking about the terrorists suffering from explosive decompression, and then you would be correct."

I wasn't, but I let it go.

"Your training wasn't adequate for what you encountered," Officer Tally continued. "Your systems of defense were also inadequate. The only reason Adam Lanza didn't kill more people isn't because the doors were locked, it was because he didn't know what he was doing."
"Didn't know what he was doing? He killed all of these people...and me!"
Officer Tally calmly forged ahead, "Had he known what he was doing, he would have brought the shotgun with him and shot the locked doors off of their hinges. With the shotgun, he could have done some serious damage and easily gotten though every locked door with little fanfare."
"Even worse," Sergeant Munson jumped in, "had he carried a gun that had more power, like the type most hunters carry, he could have shot straight through the walls, even if they were made of cinder block."
I was stunned, "guns can shoot through walls?"

A video of a man shooting a rifle at a cinder block wall popped up on the computer screen. The first round punched a hole the size of a fist in the wall. The second round made the hole the size of a head. It only took a few more rounds for the majority of the wall to collapse.

"Yes, quite easily. That is a video of a man using a common hunting rifle. So just having ballistic locked doors and cinder block walls won't stop a determined assailant. Only equal or greater force will," Sergeant Munson finished.
Looking at her beautiful children, "So we were doomed no matter what?"
"No. Not if you, the other teachers, and staff had been armed and had been even minimally trained. You would have been able to confront him with bullets instead of harsh words, because there was nothing you were going to be able to say to stop him," Sergeant Munson said.
"Your mistake was believing in man's laws over God's laws," said Officer Tally.
"But we have to follow man's laws...the Constitution," I rebutted.
"No. God's laws, and mankind's Natural Born Rights existed long before the Constitution, long before the existence of the United States, or the nations of Europe, even before mankind learned to write. Man's Rights are not given or guaranteed by governments. They are not subject to negotiation, dilution, curtailment, distribution, or removal by any man or government. They are YOUR Rights, given to mankind as a gift of Life. Only mankind can protect them, not governments."

I didn't have anything to say. Everything they were telling me made sense. I was personally responsible for my own life and Liberty. It wasn't up to anyone else nor any government. I died because I had voluntarily relinquished my Right to self-defense, not because the police had not come to rescue me in time. They would never had made it in time.

"You gave up more than your Right to self-defense, you just didn't know it," said a new voice. I looked up and noticed Officer Tally and Sergeant Munson were gone.
"I did?" I asked, looking up to notice a vaguely familiar face that I couldn't place.
"Yes."
"In what way?"
"Would you have publicly criticized your school's superintendent or the chief of police, if you had had a problem with them?"
"Of course not?"
"Why not?"
"Because I probably would have lost my job?"
"So you feared retribution for speaking freely. You gave up your Right to speak your mind," the now more familiar man said.
"OK."
"Would you have driven your car without a license, or registration?"
"No," I answered. Realizing he would ask why, I went ahead, "Because I would get a ticket, or have my car towed, or be jailed."
"So the threat of government punishment kept you from doing it?"
"Well...yeah."
"So you allowed the government to convince you that driving a car was a privilege; that it was a requirement to register your car and have a license to drive it. There you gave up your Right to free travel upon God's earth. Why did they not register horses and wagons, and require licenses?"
I was feeling exasperated, "I don't know."
"Because the government could not convince people that riding a horse was a privilege," he said. "I could go on, but I think you get the point."
"Yes. I get it: I am dead because I relinquished my God Given Natural Born Right to defend myself in lieu of a false belief that the police could do it for me when seconds mattered. I was not as free as I thought I was because I lived in fear of retribution from my government if I broke their laws. I was put in this unfortunate position by an overbearing government who forced me to choose between my job and my Liberties. And....what am I supposed to do with this information now...now that I am dead?"
"Well, when I was killed in a school murder spree over a decade ago, they didn't have independent blogs like they do now. The internet was not as wide spread as it is now. You have the opportunity to continue the new Revolutionary war from here, at least for a little while. Because of the deaths of these beautiful innocent children, you, and your coworkers, there is talk of more laws that will only weaken other teachers and people of the world like yourself. You have been shown that no law will prevent a mass murderer from doing their evil, but that it will only result in more deaths of innocent people who have been hamstrung by their governments if they further restrict the God Given Rights of self-defense through ill-advised legislation. It has never worked. It never will work. Gun free zones are only free of guns in the hands of people who would stand against a murderer. Write your story. Tell the people that they must not tolerate the reduction of their Rights to adequately defend themselves. Convince them that had you been armed, less people would have died this morning. Show them the Truth, because once seen, the Truth cannot be unseen." The man started to walk back to The Gates.

As I was letting his words sink in, he turned and said, "if no one has told you yet, we have special Wi-Fi up here."

Sales of bulletproof backpacks, kids' body armor by Utah company soar 500 percent following Connecticut shootings

Homeschool.

Sales for bulletproof backpacks and child-sized body armor manufactured by a Utah company have increased 500 percent since last week’s shooting massacre at Connecticut’s Sandy Hook Elementary, company officials said.

Derek Williams, director of sales and marketing for Amendment II, said Wednesday that the Salt Lake City-based firm has seen “incredible demand” for its pint-sized products that feature lightweight armor called RynoHide.

“We’ve seen incredible demand, sales have gone up 500 percent for those particular products,” Williams said. “It’s just gone through the roof.”

The backpacks, which retail for as little as $300, will stop a bullet fired from a .357 Magnum and feature an armor component that weighs just 10 ounces, Williams said. He declined to discuss specific sales figures.

Piers Morgan joins GOA

Well, he's now a member at least.:)

The Fight for our Gun Rights to Continue
through the Christmas Holidays
GOA makes a great stocking stuffer!

“[GOA’s] Rhetoric Signals Tough Road for Legislation” -- Roll Call, December 18, 2012

Gun Owners of America has, literally, been working around the clock this week.  From speaking to media around the nation (and around the world), to briefing congressmen on Capitol Hill, GOA lobbyists and staff are providing the policy elites the “bullet points” they need to combat the approaching onslaught against our rights.

If you still haven’t seen it, you’re missing a heck of a debate.

GOA’s Facebook page lit up with all kinds of kudos for the way GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt man-handled Morgan:

* “I'm a proud member of GOA and this was a great debate.” -- Freddy Kasprzykowski

* “Bravo Larry!! You wrecked that moron.” -- Dennis Walker

* “I was absolutely inspired by Larry's willingness to be the first pro-gun voice to face the liberal lynch mob. Joined the GOA today, and damned proud of it. Do the same, everyone! If there is a time to join, this is it!” -- Terry Threlfall, Jr.

If you are already a GOA member, why not offer your family members or friends a gift subscription to Gun Owners of America?

One savvy gun owner has already bought Piers Morgan a gift membership in GOA so he can get educated on the issues.  That’s no joke.  Piers Morgan is one of the newest GOA members, thanks to the generosity of this “Secret Santa.”

So, if you really want to help educate (and annoy) some of your liberal friends, you might consider following suit!

Thank you for standing with us this year.

NDAA 2013 - Indefinite detention without trial is back

Lawmakers in Washington have stripped an amendment from next year’s National Defense Authorization Act that could have kept the government from indefinitely detaining US citizens without charge or trial.

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin (D-Michigan) told reporters on Tuesday that an amendment to the 2013 defense spending bill approved only two weeks earlier had been removed. That amendment, authored by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-California), was pitched as a solution to a clause in the current NDAA that allows for the indefinite detention of US citizens without due process or habeas corpus.

Under the 2012 NDAA, US President Barack Obama is affirmed the power to put any American citizen behind bars if he or she is suspected of assisting in any way with forces engaged in hostilities against the United States or its allies. That provision, Sec. 1021, says any person who commits a “belligerent act” against the country can be imprisoned indefinitely “without trial” until the vaguely-worded period of hostilities has come to an end.

Pres. Obama signed the 2012 NDAA into law on December 31 of last year, but included a statement at the time that condemned the powers under Sec. 1021 that he awarded himself.

Gun and Ammo Sales Not Just Surging — AR Guns, Ammo and Magazines Sold Out

Via Don

Earlier this morning we ran a piece showing that gun and ammunition sales have blasted off since the Newtown massacre. The reality is that gun, ammo and magazine sales went into an overdrive, and this is not exactly Christmas present sales. The culprit for this mad rush to buy is the coming ban on assault weapons and “military-style” weapons after Obama’s speech on Sunday evening, and then again after President Obama named Vice President Joe Biden to be in charge of the efforts against assault weapons.

While President Obama has said that the Second Amendment will remain intact, and while the words “gun control” and “bans” are craftily being avoided, it is important to remember that Joe Biden was effectively the author of the assault weapons ban that went into effect in the 1990s. After Obama’s speech on Wednesday, the writing on the wall is very clear as he called for a serious proposal no later than the end of January.

As far as gun sales and ammunition sales being elevated or higher, let’s call it a massive understatement. We showed that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) was out of certain guns online if you type in a ZIP code. The reality is much more extreme, and there is a bit of personal experience here that will show just how much the sales went up — EVERYWHERE is sold out! If you want to purchase a shotgun or a handgun, these are still available. If you are wanting a rifle that would be classified as an assault rifle, an AR, you missed your chance.

Gun buyers in Houston have bought up the entire inventory of AR guns. It is not just the guns. The ammunition is sold out. The magazines are sold out, and not just the magazines that hold 30 or more rounds. Even finding a 10-round magazine is elusive. And ammunition? The smaller boxes of ammunition in the 223-556 calibers may be found, but not the larger boxes. Try calling Top Gun, Academy, Carter Country and other stores and you will get more or less the same answer: “We are sold out entirely, we have no idea when we are getting new stock in, and we have no idea what the pricing will be.” Even the online sites that deal in guns and ammo are now low on inventory as sales have spiked.

To go even further to show how much the demand spiked, the FBI background check system was overloaded. Customers have had to leave guns at the stores because the electronic system kept crashing on Wednesday.

This is not just a local issue either. One email went out from a licensed retailer that most of the suppliers are now cleaned out entirely in their “military style” weapons, ammo, magazines and accessories. The email also said that they have no idea when new shipments will be available.

My take on the current feeding frenzy

VERBATIM

I do not think that it will amount to anything in terms of gun control. When our side is voting with thousands of dollars in purchases and many hours of activism, training and lobbying, the other side has only talking and collusive propaganda through the mass media.

The real reason for the gun control talk - in my opinion - is to take the pressure off the administration on the economic front. Everyone has been very concerned about the depression, the coming higher taxes, the massive budget deficits and the attendant defaults on government obligations that they just had to counter-strike somewhere. Just like the Brusilov offensive designed to relieve the French at Verdun, this strategic foray into gun control might accomplish the short-term goal at the cost of squandering much political capital the Democrats have.

If the current administration tries to push gun control in extra-legal ways, then they would be just reaching for the laurels of Ceauşescu. I doubt that any of them would go to the wall for that goal, and the current propaganda blitz is no different from the leaflets the Soviets used to drop over the Finnish lines in 1939. Wishful thinking more than a threat.

JOE SCARBOROUGH JOINS ANTI-GUN LEFT

Via midnightrider

The so-called conservative talking head at MSNBC, Joe Scarborough, railed that the Connecticut shootings "must change everything." Scarborough's inference is that America needs stricter gun control laws. He said, "They [politicians] must . . . be forced to defend our children," by enacting more gun control laws. Scarborough went on to rant, "I say good luck to the gun lobbyists, good luck to the Hollywood lawyer who tries to hide behind twisted readings of our Bill of Rights."

This is the same Joe Scarborough who was elected to Congress in 1994 from the First Congressional District of Florida. He ran as a staunch pro-Second Amendment conservative. He was elected to Congress by staunch Pro-Second Amendment conservatives. Now, Scarborough is joining the chorus of the anti-gun left by adding his voice for more gun control.

At one time, Joe and I were fairly close. I hosted a prominent radio talk show in Joe's district at the time and did everything I could do to help him win that US House seat. At one time, Joe, and several members of his family, verbalized to me that had it not been for my support, he would not have won his congressional seat. At the time, I was proud to do it.
Joe was a different guy then. That was before he suddenly resigned his seat in Congress, before he landed a gig at MSNBC, and before he became a multimillionaire. Since then, I've watched Joe Scarborough morph into something different altogether. I no longer know Joe Scarborough.

I remember him telling me some 15 years or so ago that he had his sights set on the White House around the 2016 election. Is that what this is all about, Joe? Are you reading the tea leaves after the Connecticut shootings, and you think you're going to ride an anti-gun wave to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue? It ain't gonna happen, Joe!

In the first place, the only anti-gun wave taking place in America is inside the Beltway and inside the establishment media, which is where it's always been. In the second place, those of us who still believe in the Second Amendment are not the ones who have "twisted readings" of the Bill of Rights. Has anyone noticed the record gun sales that are taking place right now? Gun shops nationwide are literally wiped out of AR-15-style rifles, along with their accompanying magazines. Gun manufacturers are back-ordered into the indefinite future. Joe, do you now believe that all of these millions of honest, hard-working American citizens have a "twisted reading" of the Bill of Rights?

Joe, you used to quote the Second Amendment at your campaign rallies, remember? It reads, "A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Joe, you know as well as I do, that the right of people to keep and bear arms has nothing to do with hunting or target shooting. It has everything to do with "the security of a free state." It has everything to do with the ability of free citizens within a free State to defend themselves against the potential oppression and tyranny of the federal government. That was the meaning and purpose of the Second Amendment. Minus and plus nothing! Humanly speaking, the only thing that separates free people from the tyrannical propensities of the federal government is a well-armed citizenry. One could even say that they only thing that separates the free people of the world from global tyranny is the well-armed citizenry of the people of the United States!

Beyond that, the number of innocent people whose lives are taken by some mentally-deranged wacko with a gun is miniscule compared to the number of innocent people whose lives are saved BECAUSE THEY HAD A GUN.

Nationally, some 8,000 people are killed by a gun annually, including a significant percentage of suicide deaths. Joe, 8,000 is the number of people whose lives are saved with a gun in TWO DAYS. That's right, according to US Justice Department statistics, at least 4,000 people use a firearm to defend themselves and others against violent attacks EVERY DAY. Joe, why don't you, and the rest of the national media, report that fact?

Something needs to change, alright, Joe! It's time for the federal government and various State governments to stop denying people the right to defend themselves!

Have you ever noticed that these "crazy" killers always select a "gun-free" zone to do their killing? Gee! I wonder why? When is the last time you ever heard of a "crazy" guy opening fire on people at a shooting range? How about a gun shop? Or maybe a police station? Never happens! Why? Because the miscreant knows that people at those places are armed and will shoot back. Gun-free zones are actually free-to-kill zones!

If we really want to reduce the number of these mass killings, here is the way to do it:

The True Intentions of the Gun Control Crowd

Via Ryan

The recent tragedy at Newtown, Conn.'s Sandy Hook Elementary School has indeed created what my bloleague Brad Bannon described Wednesday on Thomas Jefferson Street as "a teachable moment."
For far too long, some of America's leading politicians have been far less than honest about what they really believe when it comes to guns, gun control, and the Constitution's Second Amendment. What happened at Sandy Hook, as horrific as it was, has brought them out of the shadows into the light of day. Make no mistake. It is now clear that far too many of them, mostly Democrats, believe that no one should be allowed to own a firearm for any reason.

They may talk a good game about respecting the right to self defense and pay lip service in support of hunting and sport shooting but the real truth is that they are simply afraid of antagonizing the millions of people across the country who own guns. They understand that they cannot place themselves at odds with one of the nation's most powerful political constituencies, one that cuts across just about every demographic that can be identified, including race, gender, income, and party lines.

Guns Out of Stock at Wal-Mart as Magazine Prices Surge on

With President Barack Obama endorsing sweeping gun restrictions in the wake of the school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, prices for handgun magazines are surging on EBay (EBAY) and semi-automatic rifles are sold out at many Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) locations.
U.S. President Barack Obama speaks at the White House in Washington on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012. Obama endorsed restricting military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips.
Wal-Mart, the world’s largest retailer, said yesterday that it would continue to sell guns, including rifles like the one used at Newtown, where 26 people, most of them children, were killed on Dec. 14.

Wal-Mart, the world’s largest retailer, said yesterday that it would continue to sell guns, including rifles like the one used at Newtown, where 26 people, most of them children, were killed on Dec. 14. By contrast, Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. (DKS) suspended sales of similar guns at its more than 500 stores.

Searches of five kinds of semi-automatic rifles on Wal- Mart’s website showed them to be out of stock at stores in five states, including Pennsylvania, Kansas and Alabama. Wal-Mart doesn’t sell guns online, instead asking customers to input a zip code to see if their local store carries a specific weapon.

“We remain dedicated to the safe and responsible sale of firearms in areas of the country where they are sold,” David Tovar, a spokesman for Wal-Mart, said yesterday. He didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on this story.

Wal-Mart has about 10 modern sporting rifles, the gun industry’s term for firearms that look like an M-16 military rifle, listed on its website. The retailer removed a description and picture of the Bushmaster AR-15, which was the model used in Newtown, after the shootings.

In 2006, Wal-Mart reduced the number and variety of guns it offered in stores, and replaced them with more upscale products such as exercise equipment. It then reintroduced firearms to many stores in April 2011 as part of strategy to add merchandise back to shelves and revive sales growth at its Wal-Mart locations in the U.S.

The move may have helped as U.S. Wal-Mart stores posted their first gain in same-store sales in more than two years in October 2011. Wal-Mart doesn’t disclose how many guns it sells, though at an analysts’ meeting in October it said gun revenue gained 76 percent in the first half of this fiscal year. The chain advertised a Sig Sauer M400 as one of its Black Friday doorbusters last month, offering the rifle for $50 off at $867.

Cabela’s Inc. (CAB), an outdoor retailer that also sells guns, didn’t return several calls seeking comment on whether it planned to change its firearm policies. Hunting equipment, which includes firearms, made up 41 percent of Cabela’s sales in 2011, according to a company filing. The retailer doesn’t provide sales data for just guns.

On EBay Inc.'s auction website, shoppers have recently bid up gun magazines. The current bid for four Glock handgun magazines, ammunition for one of the guns used at Newtown, is $118.37 compared with $45 on the day before the shooting. The bid for seven Glock magazines hit $201 on Dec. 17 from $71.01 before the massacre.

Gun buyers have flooded other firearms retailers too. The Hyatt Gun Shop in Charlotte, North Carolina, racked up more than $1 million in sales yesterday for the best single-day performance since the store opened in 1959, according to Justin Anderson, director of online sales. At the top of shoppers’ lists was the Bushmaster AR-15, the model of rifle used at Newtown that sells for as much as $4,000 and had almost sold out, he said.

Justin Webb of the BBC: US gun control could provoke 'something like a new civil war'

Via Ryan

VERBATIM

Justin Webb, one of the presenters of BBC Radio's Today programme, has tweeted something true, unpalatable and – in the circumstances – rather brave in response to the Connecticut school shootings. "A real effort to reduce gun ownership in America would result in a rural/metro and north/south divide and something like a new civil war," he wrote.

That's not a comment for or against legislation: Webb is drawing our attention to an aspect of American society that Europeans find very difficult to grasp, and also to the subterranean complexity of the gun control debate. The correlation between gun ownership and the incidence of freak massacres is not a simple one. One of the things liberals can't accept is that supporters of the NRA are just as horrified by the killings in Newtown as members of the gun control lobby – but it's true.

ABC's 'Nightline' Airs Superb Segment on School Security

Last night on ABC's "Nightline," Terry Moran introduced a fantastic segment that took a serious look at something beyond the incessant media drumbeat that pretends only gun control will solve the problem of mass shootings.

In a glaring exception to The Narrative, "Nightline" offered a sober, thoughtful examination of pro-active, common sense solutions that could be implemented almost immediately: Improved structural security, armed guards, and, yes, arming teachers who have already qualified for a concealed carry permit:

Gallup: Americans Want Mental Health Laws, Police, Not Banning Guns

Despite the attempts by the Left to use the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut to forward their anti-gun agenda, Americans feel that there are other avenues they would rather explore to protect to innocent children, according to a new Gallup Poll. In order of preference, the poll shows that 53% of Americans would favor an increased police presence at schools, 50% wanted to increase government spending on mental health screening and treatment, 47% thought that gun violence on TV, in movies and in video games should be decreased, and 42% thought the sale of assault and semi-automatic guns should be banned.

Almost as many people (34%) thought that at least one school official in every school should carry a gun as those who favored banning the sale of assault and semi-automatic guns, while 27% felt that the news media should not print or read the names of the shooter. The news blackout of the shooter drew the highest percentage of those who thought it would be ineffective, at 40%, but the gun ban was a close second in the ineffectiveness rating at 36%.

NRA sees rise in membership after Connecticut school shooting

The National Rifle Association, while staying mostly quiet in the immediate aftermath of the mass shooting in Connecticut, has registered an average of 8,000 new members a day since the tragedy, an NRA source told Fox News.

While this broadly aligns with trends seen after similar incidents in the past, the surge in membership this time is said to dwarf past trends.

The source, based on his access to an internal memo prepared by the organization’s membership division, said both the number of individual contributions to the NRA and their average amount have risen significantly in this period.

Pistol purchased by ATF agent found at alleged cartel crime scene in Mexico

Via Cousin Bill

CBS News has learned that two guns found in the area of a recent Mexican drug cartel shootout have been linked to Fast and Furious: One trafficked by a suspect in the case, and the other purchased by a federal agent.

Mexican beauty queen Susana Flores Maria Gamez and four others died in the brutal gun battle between Sinaloa cartel members and the Mexican military in November. CBS News has learned that an FN Herstal pistol recovered near the crime scene in November was originally purchased by an Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) manager who was faulted by the Inspector General in Operation Fast and Furious: George Gillett. Gillett was the Asst. Special Agent in Charge of ATF Phoenix when Fast and Furious began.

The Herstal pistol is nicknamed a "cop-killer" because of its designation as a "weapon of choice" for Mexican drug cartels. CBS News has learned the Inspector General planned to question Gillett today after a hastily-opened inquiry to determine how this agent's personal weapon got into the hands of suspected cartel members.

CBS News spoke to Gillett, who is still employed at ATF. Gillett acknowledged he once owned the weapon in question, but says he sold it in Phoenix sometime last year after advertising it on the Internet. He declined to provide the name of the man who bought it, but says he went "above and beyond" what was required by law to complete the firearms transaction. That included asking the purchaser to fill out a form giving personal information and stating that he was in the U.S. legally; and checking his driver's license, which Gillett said was issued in the U.S.

Obama issues executive order on Rape Control

Via Ryan

Rape control: Men cut off your penises now. These weapons must be removed from our streets.

As President, I am issuing executive order and an amnesty giving every man 30 days to report to federal castration centers. The rape of 30 nuns cannot go ignored, and we must get penises out of the hands of rapists. Please excuse me as I attempt to well up more crocodile tears. Now as I was saying, the nation looks on and demands answers in the midst of this tragedy. Last year there were an estimated 83,425 forcible rapes reported to law enforcement. The answer is obvious. By removing penises from our streets, we can eliminate rape in America.

Virginia Founders

My 7g-grandfather was George "the Jacobite" Marjoribanks, born about 1690 in Scotland and a participant in the Second Jacobite Rebellion of about 1735.

He was captured by the British, put in chains, his property confiscated by the government, and shipped to the colonies as a slave (indentured servant is a PC term applied much later.) In 1735 there were many white slaves. I don't know what weapons he carried in the rebellion but I know that I spent many great days as a boy lugging another grandfather's single-shot Sears Ranger ($6 new) .22 rifle around the rugged Madison county farms of the sons of Rebecca Malinda Marchbanks, all surnamed DeBruhl. My ten year old grandson now owns that rifle and shoots it in Washington State as responsibly as I did. I, who killed nothing with it on innumerable hunting trips.

Anyone who thinks I would sell my self and my grandson into the chains and slavery that my honored grandfather escaped, before his death in 1740, by giving up the firearm ownership bequeathed to me by a long line of better men than I is a fool.

This article reminds me that I am a proud native of North Carolina who was lucky enough to marry a Virginia Belle in 1957 and become an adopted Virginian. How much we owe those Virginia Founders.
