Tactical Considerations For The Lone Wolf
Via WRSA
Max Velocity Tactical has an interesting and thought provoking article up entitled Tactical Considerations For The Long Wolf (hat tip Western Rifle Shooters). This is must reading and well worth the time he has put into this. I find it improbable that you read his article without picking up something that you need to think about.
The article sets the stage with a clear and present danger to your family, and rather than being coupled with other like-minded defenders and partners, you are alone in your quest for self defense and family safety. A bit of his article is reproduced below.
He discusses taking multiple weapons with you: “You may carry two rifles, a hunting rifle slung on your pack and an AR-15 style for while you are patrolling and for closer range self-defense.”
Here I break ranks with him.
Max Velocity Tactical has an interesting and thought provoking article up entitled Tactical Considerations For The Long Wolf (hat tip Western Rifle Shooters). The article sets the stage with a clear and present danger to your family, and rather than being coupled with other like-minded defenders and partners, you are alone in your quest for self defense and family safety. A bit of his article is reproduced below.
Area of Operations: you need to consider that if the enemy is in any way switched on, and are keeping any sort of incident map, then if you simply operate close to your retreat they will build up a picture that may well lead them to your home and family. Thus you should be unpredictable and move further away or from unexpected directions in order to prosecute your attacks.
Navigation: you will need to be able to accurately move by map and compass across rough back country terrain to get in and out of your objective. You will take separate routes in and out and use deception.
Movement: You must use cover and concealment to move. You will have to move slowly, at a jungle patrol pace, in order to effectively scan ahead and around. Cover means using the ground (hard cover) to conceal you, such as moving in draws or behind terrain features. Concealment means using vegetation to hide you from any observers. You will need to plan a route accordingly, also avoiding any settlements where there is an increased risk of compromise and where dogs will bark at you.
However, do not move on obvious features or along trails and tracks. You can handrail (parallel) them at a distance if you need to or if you need to use them for navigation. It is often best to ‘cross-grain’ the terrain thus making your moves hard to predict. Valley bottoms and trails/streams are good places for you to walk into an ambush. Use techniques for avoiding ambush such as hand railing and moving partway up a valley side (contouring), thus giving you the benefits of cover and concealment but avoiding natural ambush sites and places where others will travel.
You must be very careful at any kind of obstacle, vulnerable point, channelizing feature or linear danger area. Examples of a channelizing vulnerable point include crossing a bridge or moving through a track or trail junction. A linear danger area is any kind of open feature that you have to cross such as a road, river or trail, even a power line through the woods. You must be very careful to observe in detail prior to crossing and find a point where the crossing is best concealed, such as in a depression or even by crawling through a culvert, for example.
As you move, you need to stop regularly for listening and observation breaks. Scan and listen. Do this before moving through the next natural part of the terrain, cross it then stop again. A real game changer would be having a portable FLIR thermal imager (such as the FLIR Scout), with which you can scan around and into the brush to spot anyone concealed. He makes you consider whether you or your enemy have FLIR or night vision, he covers the concepts of enfilade and defilade, food, water purification, firearms, concealment while sleeping, etc. Again, the article is well worth the time and if you don’t read anything else today you should read this article.
He discusses taking multiple weapons with you: “You may carry two rifles, a hunting rifle slung on your pack and an AR-15 style for while you are patrolling and for closer range self-defense.”
Here I break ranks with him.

The Communists and Rosa Parks
Via Cousin John
A nine-foot bronze statue of the civil rights icon and Alabama native, Rosa Parks was unveiled in the
U.S. Capitol building yesterday. President Obama spoke at the dedication ceremony rightly asserting that Parks' activism began long before she was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on the bus to a white man in 1955.
In fact, according to Professor Robin D.G. Kelley, who has written on the Communist Party's involvement in the early days of the civil rights movement in Alabama, Parks and her husband were regular attendees at communist meetings in the 1930's.
Kelley, who is currently Professor of American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California, shared his own journey as a member of the Communist Party in a 2003 Minnesota Review article. Kelley also touched on his 1990 book Hammer and Hoe chronicling the rise of the Communist Party in Alabama during the Great Depression.

Encouraging attendance and “recharging” at the quarterly NC LS Conferences, Thuersam noted that all members must be active in their own communities and in touch with city councilmen, county commissioners, and their State representatives to let them know what is expected of them – and that we will hold them accountable for fiscal irresponsibility, waste and any inability to consider our State first in any confrontations with DC.
Save the Children
On 28 February a gun battle erupted at a "compound" of the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas when Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, & Firearms Agents attacked. Two days before some of those same agents had been shooting together at a firing range with David Koresh, head of the Davidians.
A 51 day standoff began, and finally the government had to attack the compound with armored personnel carriers and gasoline -- or was it napalm? -- to "save the children." Well, torch the children, save the children, it's an easy mistake to make if you're a US attorney general. Few Davidians survived.

Maryland Senate passes gun control bill
Via Billy
The Maryland Senate approved a comprehensive gun control bill on Thursday that includes a ban on assault weapons and fingerprinting for prospective handgun buyers.
Another petty tyrant.
The Democratic-controlled Senate passed the bill 28-19 and sent it on to the House of Delegates, according to the chamber's website.
Democratic Governor
Martin O'Malley proposed the measure in the wake of the Newtown,
Connecticut, school massacre in December in which 20 children and six
adults died. The rampage reignited a national debate on gun control.

Woodward's Not Alone - Fmr. Clinton Aide Davis Says He Received White House Threat
Via Michael & Randy's Right
Bob Woodward isn't the only person who's received threats for airing the Obama administration's dirty laundry. It seems anyone is a potential target of the White House these days - even former senior members of the Clinton administration.
A day after Woodward's claim that a senior White House official had told him he would "regret" writing a column criticizing President Obama's stance on the sequester, Lanny Davis, a longtime close advisor to President Bill Clinton, told WMAL's Mornings on the Mall Thursday he had received similar threats for newspaper columns he had written about Obama in the Washington Times.
Davis told WMAL that his editor, John Solomon, "received a phone call from a senior Obama White House official who didn't like some of my columns, even though I'm a supporter of Obama. I couldn't imagine why this call was made." Davis says the Obama aide told Solomon, "that if he continued to run my columns, he would lose, or his reporters would lose their White House credentials."

Wovoka, The Prophet Of The Ghost Dance
Via Horace
There have been many in every tribe and every time who have brought shame on their people. There have been whole tribes who forgot their race's high ideals. From time to time great prophets have arisen amongst them to stir up these backsliders, and bring them back to the faith of their fathers. The last of these was Wovoka, the Piute - the Mystic Dreamer. About 1887 he began preaching his doctrine of the coming Messiah and taught the Redmen that they must worship him by the Ghost dance. This is his own simple setting forth of the doctrine:
When the Sun died I went up into Heaven and saw God and all the people who had died a long time ago. God told me to come back and tell my people they must be good and love one another and not to fight or steal or lie. He gave me this dance to give to my people. - (Ethn. Ann. 14. p. 764).
At Pine Ridge, S. D., in the winter of 1890, the Sioux were learning this dance with its songs and its Christ-like creed. It meant the end of war. War had been their traditional noblest pursuit. But now at the bidding of the new prophet they agreed to abjure it forever; and they prepared to take up the new religion of love.
The Indian agent, like most of his kind, was ignorant and utterly unfitted for his position. He said it was some new sort of a war dance. The troops were sent for and the Indian populace was gathered together at a place called Wounded Knee near Pine Ridge (Dec. 29, 1890). They had submitted and turned in their rifles. Then, maddened by the personal indignities offered them in searching for more arms, a young Indian who still had a gun fired at the soldiers. It is not stated that he hit any one, but the answer was a volley that killed half the men. A minute later a battery of four Hotchkiss machine guns was turned on the defenceless mass of virtual prisoners; 120 men, and 250 helpless women and children were massacred in broad daylight, mown down, and left on the plain, while the white soldiers pursued the remnant and the cripples, to do them to death in the hills.
Almost all the dead warriors were found lying near where the "fight" began, about Bigfoot's teepee, but the bodies of the women and children were found scattered along for two miles from the scene of the encounter, showing that they had been killed while trying to escape. - (Ethn. Ann. 14, pp. 868 - 870).
We brought all this on ourselves. Seventy years ago, I first read Ernest Thompson Seton's magnificent book, Woodcraft and Indian Lore. Now I'm reading it after again many visits to Wounded Knee, SD and Little Big Horn Battlefield, and other such.
This is the story of Wounded Knee written before 1930. I offer this in memory of Chief Bigfoot and Russell Means and to honor the Matthews family of Pine Ridge, SD.

North Carolina Mountain Man: “This is the country that I pledge allegiance to?”
Via avordvet
After graduating from Appalachian State
University more than two decades ago, Eustace Conway decided to take a
crack at Henry Thoreau’s philosophy of getting back to nature – that
is, of living “deliberately.”
“I live in a much different way and I’m glad for it,” Conway told Fox 8 WGHP-TV.
He purchased some land outside Boone,
N.C., built up his property, and has been using his “nature school” to
teach hundreds of people how to live closer to nature ever since.
His lifestyle became so notorious, in fact, that he has been featured on The History Channel’s “Mountain Men“:
But in 2012, citing safety regulations, county officials decided they need to shut down the noted naturalist’s school.
“Basically, I’m living like the
American heritage pattern of all of our ancestors and the modern world
isn’t. They don’t know how to accept me,” Conway said.
The county issued Conway a cease and desist order, saying his property wasn’t up to code.
“This is supposed to be the land of
the free,” he said, “government is supposed to help people [and] protect
their individual liberties and freedom. That’s not what’s happening
here.”
“My gosh,” he added, “This is the country that I pledge allegiance to?”
The county argues that it is only
doing its duty protecting public health and safety, the Fox affiliate
notes, and says his “nature school” can continue – but only after it
meets the county’s standards.
Problem is, to meet said standards,
Conway’s “nature school” would cease to be, well, natural. Also, the
county’s demands are a little strange considering that after all this
time (26 years) and several inspections, it has suddenly decided his
property is a hazard.

Make This Your Finest Hour
This picture inspires me and evokes deep respect. It’s 601 Squadron RAF Fighter Command scrambling in 1941. In 1940-41, all across south-east England, men from all over the English-speaking world (along with some who had escaped occupied Europe) threw themselves into battle against a national socialist dictatorship that wanted to destroy our entire civilization. They sortied again and again, splashing bomber after bomber, getting shot down and going up again, and never giving in. The invasion never came. Their sceptred isle stayed free.
The odds were long, and the stakes infinite. What these men were doing, and the risks they were taking, mattered. And they knew it. Because the odds were so long, and because life expectancy for a fighter pilot was so short, these men could and did live and fight and die like they had nothing to lose.
We know how it turned out. These kind of men, running toward their little fighters, became The Few to whom So Many Owe So Much. And 1940 entered our collective memory as The Finest Hour.
Keep these men and this picture in mind when you consider New Rhodesia and the American Resistance during the next few years.

A Texas high school student has filed a federal lawsuit against her school and her teachers after she was punished for refusing to salute and recite the Mexican pledge of allegiance.
The Thomas More Law Center filed the suit on behalf of Brenda Brinsdon alleging the McAllen Independent School District violated the 15-year-old girl’s constitutional rights when she was forced to recite the Mexican pledge and sing the Mexican national anthem.
Click here to read the lawsuit.
Brinsdon, who is the daughter of a Mexican immigrant and an American father, refused. She believed it was un-American to pledge a loyalty oath to another country.
Ironically, the school district has a policy that prohibits a school from compelling students to recite the American Pledge of Allegiance.
The district also has a written policy that excuses students from reciting text from the Declaration of Independence if the student “as determined by the district, has a conscientious objection to the recitation.”

Supreme Court justices hint at striking Voting Rights Act provision
The Supreme Court on Wednesday appeared likely to strike down a key part of the Voting Rights Act, the landmark civil rights law designed to protect minority voters from discrimination.
The court’s conservative justices were at times hostile to the law’s requirement that states with a history of discrimination gain “preclearance” from the federal government before changing their voting procedures.
Democratic lawmakers, civil rights leaders and hundreds of activists rallied outside the court Wednesday, arguing that the Voting Rights Act is still a necessary tool to fight discrimination. Some lawmakers had to duck out of the arguments halfway through in order to help unveil a statue of Rosa Parks across the street in the Capitol.
“I am proud to stand with my colleagues today to send a clear message to the public and to the court that the right to vote is not a matter of race, entitlement or partisanship,” said Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio), the chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus.
But inside the court’s chambers, lawyers arguing in favor of the Voting Rights Act clearly struggled to convince skeptical conservatives that the preclearance requirements are still needed.

New Study of Latino Voters Republicans Cannot Win with Amnesty
A new
study from the Center for Immigration Studies confirms preivous studies.
Republicans cannot win the Latino
vote by voting for amnesty or other liberal immigration policies. Latinos
favor Democrats because of their liberal spending on liberal social-welfare
prgrams. A Pew poll indicated that 69 percen of Hispanics favored Obamacare, and
71 percent voted for Obama. We can never out-liberal the Democrats.
Amnesty
and other liberal immigration programs only bring in more Democrat voters,
making the electorate steadily more Democrat and more liberal.
In
addition, Republicans who take liberal positions on amnesty
and other immigration policies--in fact, on any issue--encourage
conservatives to stay at home-- often in angry disgust.
So why are Republicans
stampeding to vote for an amnesty worse than the disasterous 1986 amnesty? It is
Republican suicide--stupid Republican
suicide.
As
a Republican County Chairman, trying to recruit people to help elect
Republicans, I run into registered conservative voters a couple times a week who
are becming increasingly discouraged with what they see as wobbly and
leftward drfting Republican principles in Washington and Raleigh. I had
lunch wth two of them today, who were feeling abandned and betrayed.
There are conservative
Hispanics, especially among Cubans and the growing number of other
Hispanics who are evangelical Christians. We can get that vote by being
true to our own principles. But they are a minority, and we cannot get the
majority by moving to the left on amnesty or anything else. In addition, no one
outside of a madhouse believes that Hispanic illegal immigrants are more
conservative than those already voting. The more amnesties, the more Democrats,
and the higher the Democrat margins will be bcause of the higher number of
former illegals in the mix.
Immigration Policy,
because it shapes the electorate. will eventually determine almost every policy.

NAGR: Manchin lying he's pro-gun
“I’m a proud gun owner,” said Manchin in a statement. “Nobody is going to take my guns and I sure as hell not going to let them take your guns.”
Manchin made the statement following remarks made at the State Capitol by the Executive Vice President of the National Association for Gun Rights Dudley Brown.
“He’s lying to West Virginians when he has this pro-gun image, yet goes back to Washington, D.C. and starts talking about expanding the Brady registration system,” said Brown on Wednesday’s MetroNews Talkline.
Manchin referred to the comments as “a bunch of crap” and added that people don’t know what they are talking about.
Brown was at the State Capitol urging Manchin to vote against any additions to current federal background check requirements for gun purchases.
“Senator Joe Manchin is one of the cornerstones and keystones for passing (President) Barack Obama’s gun control agenda in Washington, D.C.,” Brown said.

GOA Endorses Congressman Paul Broun for U.S. Senate
Dear Brock,
Gun
Owners of America is proud to endorse Congressman Paul Broun for U.S.
Senate. Rep. Broun has been one of our most vocal leaders
protecting the Second Amendment during his time in Congress.
Congressman
Broun currently serves as the Chairman of the Second Amendment
Task Force in the House, and he has been leading the charge to protect
our gun rights at a critical time in history, when the anti-gun left is
pushing for massive new gun control laws.
Rep. Broun is carrying a heavy load on his shoulders -- not
only protecting the Second Amendment, but the Constitution as a whole --
and GOA will do everything in its power to help him move to the Senate
to join constitutional leaders like
Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee.
Georgia is a nationally known pro-gun state and the voters would be
well served and protected by electing Congressman Broun as their new
Senator.

House Judiciary chairman rejects universal checks on gun purchases
The House Judiciary Committee will not include a universal background check system in legislation it produces to reduce gun violence, the panel’s chairman, Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), said Wednesday.
“The fact of the matter is, we need to look at all of these issues, but I think where we’re going to find the ability to produce legislation is going to be focused on two things primarily,” the chairman said at a breakfast sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor. “One is improving the background check system, but universal background checks I do not think will be part of that.”

WNC journalist resigns following threats over request for gun permit records
An uproar over a Western North Carolina editor’s request for a list of concealed-carry gun permits led to the editor withdrawing his request, and resigning from the weekly mountain paper.
Robert Horne, the editor of the weekly Cherokee Scout since 2005, resigned from his position Tuesday, following the backlash over public records request he made to Cherokee Sheriff Keith Lovin for a list of residents who hold concealed-carry permits. He plans on working through May, and then leaving the state.
Cherokee County is located in the mountainous, westernmost corner of the state.
Horne has asked for a list of concealed-carry gun permits on Feb. 19, but Lovin denied it and then posted a response from Horne about how the information should be public on the sheriff’s Facebook page, which sparked a deluge of comments critical of the editor, according to this account from the Columbia Journalism Review.
Threats to newspaper staffers and Horne started coming in, with Horne reporting several of the threats to the same sheriff’s office.
(The permits are, despite Lovin’s conclusion, considered public records, though legislation introduced this year seeks to make the information confidential.)
Scout’s publisher, David Brown, issued an apology this week to readers about Horne’s request, calling it a “tremendous error” to ask for the records. Brown turned down a request for comment, saying the paper’s owners, Community Newspapers Inc., in Georgia, asked him not to talk about the situation.
Both the Columbia Journalism Review and national media commentator Jim Romenesko have been following the story, with their takes on the situation here and here.

My Resignation
Via III Percent Patriots
I spent but 4 years serving in the U.S.M.C. That was 40 years ago. I have never deserted my Oath nor will I. I'm not as young as then, not as capable nor as strong. This one thing I am: more determined today to defend and protect whatever of mine that would be placed at risk by those of you who would subvert my peaceful existence.
I do not want this fight which you and your kind have instigated. This fight frightens me to my very core - not for my sake because I've been blessed beyond my deserving. I fear for my children's children and what they will suffer in unacceptable loss of individual and collective freedoms.
I don't look to fight but I am armed and will remain so in anticipation of your conspiratorial aggresion which will inevitably reach out personally against me and mine. You have made this a personal fight and I take it very personally. When you do come, with your overwhelming numbers and machinery, I will not run. It has been expressed that your numbers in public actions display the level of fear you have of us. Your fears are well founded. God as my witness, when you come, there will be those of you who will not "go home safe". We must not lose. Nor may we neglect to rise up in fury with the full force of wounded Liberty.

Colorado Wants To Hold 'Assault Weapon' Owners, Sellers, and Makers Liable
Colorado Senate President John Morse unveiled the details of a new gun-control bill aimed squarely at those who own, sell or manufacture a class of weapons he says have “no public benefit” and “no business on our streets or in our forests”: military-style assault weapons.
The bill will hold gun sellers and manufacturers liable for damage caused by their weapons if they don’t conform to “the highest degree of care” in ensuring those weapons aren’t sold to future criminals. It makes owners of such weapons responsible for every shot fired outside the confines of a private residence.
“You fire this weapon, you own that bullet, whatever it does,” Morse said during a press conference announcing the details of the bill, which will be introduced in the state Senate on Wednesday.
The bill defines an “assault rifle” as any firearm other than a handgun, shotgun, bolt-action or lever-action rifle.
“These guns are four times as powerful as handguns,” he said. “That means they’re more effective at killing, they’re more efficient at killing, and they do a lot more collateral damage when they’re used.”

Insurrection fueled by the illuminating hatred of a thousand suns is the path to progress. Be not afraid. Let the filth and the flotsam know how you feel. Stand up for what is right and true for once in your life, and when they fight back with futile gestures of passive aggressive snark, drive your sword deeper in their guts. To the hilt. And don't stop until they're on their knees begging forgiveness. At which point you finish them off.
If you set out to design a corrupt, inefficient, wasteful, unfair, deranged and unreformable system, you would arrive at healthcare... Corporate America has the human resources infrastructure and financial heft to figure out compliance and exploit loopholes in the insanely complex law... it provides powerful incentives to millions of marginal small businesses to shut down or shed all employees.
Government schooling produced this situation of zero to low skills. Now government rides to the rescue by making laws that make it illegal for their damaged output to be hired. No employer will hire an employee that costs him money... If the minimum wage is so good, why not raise it to $20.00 per hour or $50.00? Wouldn't that erase poverty?

The Fiasco of Radical Reconstruction
The study of the postwar Republican party often
reveals a political organization seeking power at any cost, and an
abolitionist movement that was simply an expedient for the destruction
of the American South politically and economically. The
transcendentalists and Unitarian radicals drifted off after the war
without a cause to embrace; the Republicans had their desired political
hegemony which would only be slightly interrupted by Grover Cleveland,
and finally with Woodrow Wilson.

The Fiasco of Radical Reconstruction:
“By 1867, [Wendell] Phillips and “a little band of abolitionists he represented, like Robespierre and the Jacobins, believed that their will was the General Will” and looked for the federal government to establish and maintain an equal political and social position for the Negro in the South, by as much force as proved necessary. They were groping for something like the modern welfare state – foreshadowed as it was by pragmatic programs of the time like the Freedmen’s Bureau – but their intense hatred of the white South prevented a rational approach.
As a result, “Radical Reconstruction,” as it finally emerged from the Congressional cauldron, was a set of half-measures. Not faced was the problem of how a despised, impoverished, and largely illiterate minority was to maintain its rights in the face of a determined majority in full possession of economic and social power. The fiasco of Radical Reconstruction had begun.
Republican opportunism was important [in this fiasco]. There was the desire to get the Southern States readmitted to the Union under Republican control in time to deliver critical votes in 1868 and thereafter.
While idealists like Carl Shurz, Charles Sumner, Charles Francis Adams, and Horace Greeley were deserting the Republican party and the Reconstruction program to set up the abortive Liberal Republican movement of 1872, that cause of the Southern Negro was taken up and further discredited by political opportunists of the regular party organization.
The issues of the war were kept alive in the seventies and eighties as a Republican campaign technique – a way of recalling the “disloyalty” of the Democrats by “waving the bloody shirt.” In the character of Senator Dilworthy in The Gilded Age, Mark Twain has provided an unforgettable portrait of the Republican politician making unscrupulous use of the “Negro question” for his own ends.
The Reconstruction era was a perplexing time for intellectuals who had been antislavery militants before and during the war. Unable to support the sordid Grant administration and filled with doubts about the form that Radical Reconstruction was taking in the South, they had little to offer in the way of insight or inspiration.
William Dean Howells, who had once been a fervent abolitionist, intimated as editor of the Atlantic Monthly in 1869 that he was tired of the Negro question. Howell’s diminishing interest in the Negro, which reflected the disenchantment of the New England literary community in general, was further manifested in subsequent issues of the Atlantic.”

FIGHT LIKE A GIRL.
Everyone kept asking if I would post my English paper over the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 but my dad said I couldn't post it. Alot of people were asking if my school was ok with me writting about this subject, they are very supportive of my shooting and I'm very appreciative of that. My mom talked him into it so here it is:
The Assault Weapons Ban of 1994
By: Katie Francis
In 1994 Bill Clinton approved an assault weapons ban. The ban was not
just for assault weapons; it also covered any magazines holding 10 or
more rounds of ammunition. It also banned guns that had certain
characteristics. If you had any of the following things on your rifle,
it was banned: bayonet mounts, barrel shrouds, folding or telescoping
stocks, flash suppressors or barrels threaded to accept them, and pistol
grips (Wintersteen). If your pistol had any of the following, it was
banned also: magazines that attach outside the pistol grip, any
semi-auto version of a fully automatic pistol, barrels threaded to
accept extensions, suppressors, flash suppressors, or hand grips, barrel
shrouds, and pistols with unloaded weights of 50 ounces or more
(Wintersteen). If your shotgun had any of the following, it was banned:
magazine capacities of five shells or more, folding or telescoping
stocks, pistol grips, and detachable magazines (Wintersteen). So did the
assault weapons ban of 1994 work? The facts will show that the ban did
nothing to stop or even slow down violent crimes with guns.
The crime rates during the ban were not reduced. The last year the ban
was in effect, 5.7 out of every 100,000 deaths were from gun related
crimes (Lott)."We cannot clearly credit the ban with any of the nation’s
recent drop in gun violence. And, indeed, there has been no discernible
reduction in the lethality and injuriousness of gun violence" (Ban on
Assault Weapons). In the study done by the U.S. Department of Justice,
they found that "The ban has failed to reduce the average number of
victims per gun murder incident or multiple gunshot wound
victims"(Roth). This clearly shows that even with a ban on assault
weapons, the crime rates did not go down.
Since 2004, when the ban expired, overall violent and murder crime
rates went down instead of going up like the government thought they
would. In 2003 the gun related deaths were 5.7 out of every 100,000
crimes, in 2011 the gun related murders were 4.7 out of every 100,000
crimes (Lott). "The ban did not produce declines in the average number
of victims per incident of gun murder or gun murder victims with
multiple wounds" (Assault Weapons).
From the years 1985 to 1994, the number of mass shootings were 173 (Assault-weapons). The number of victims were 766 (Assault-weapons). In the years 1995 to 2004, the years the ban were in effect, the number of mass shootings were 182 (Assault-weapons). The number of victims were 830 (Assault-weapons). During the ban the number of mass shootings went up by almost 10 shootings. This does not seem like very many. On the other hand the number of victims during the ban went up by over 60 victims. How could this be if the government banned the weapons that had the ability to shoot more people faster and were able to hold more rounds? It would seem that fewer people would be shot without all the so-called assault rifles around.

Ron Paul: Federal agents should be disarmed?
VERBATIM
In Ron Paul’s latest “Texas Straight Talk” titled When They Came For The Raw Milk Drinkers…,” he takes on the issue of gun control and armed Federal agents and says that if there is anyone that should be disarmed it is Federal agents, because the “use of force by federal agents to enforce unjust and unconstitutional laws is one of the major, albeit overlooked, threats to liberty.”
Paul writes, “While I oppose most gun control proposals, there is one group of Americans I do believe should be disarmed: federal agents. The use of force by federal agents to enforce unjust and unconstitutional laws is one of the major, albeit overlooked, threats to liberty. Too often Americans are victimized by government force simply for engaging in commercial transactions disproved of by Congress and the federal bureaucracy.”
Paul presented the numerous raids by armed federal and state agents on the offices of Rawesome Foods in Venice, California. Founder James Stewart, 65, has also been imprisoned. “For what?” you ask. Rawesome sold unpasteurized (raw) milk and cheese to willing customers – in a state where raw milk is legal! You cannot even drink milk from a cow without a federal permit!
Paul also pointed out that this is not the only case in which Federal agents felt the need to bust up “raw milk terrorists.”
“In 2011 armed agents of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided the business of Pennsylvanian Amish farmer Dan Allgyer,” Paul writes. “Federal agents wasted a whole year and who knows how many millions of our tax dollars posing as customers in order to stop Allgyer from selling his raw milk to willing customers.”
“The use of force against individuals making choices not approved of by the political elite does not just stop with raw milk,” the former Texas Congressman writes. Of course, Natural News, makes it a point to cover these injustices, and they are injustices. We’ve covered many of these incidents here at Freedom Outpost.
Paul also points out how Federal bureaucrats seek to crackdown on makers of gold coins as alternatives to the fiat currency produced by the Federal Reserve. “Bernard von NotHaus, the founder of Liberty Dollars, is currently awaiting sentencing on federal counterfeiting charges — even though Mr. von NotHaus took steps to ensure his coins where not used as ‘legal tender.’”
It gets worse. The Federal government ended up labeling Mr. von NotHaus a “terrorist.” A terrorist! Seriously?
“These type of police state tactics used against, among others, raw milk producers, alternative health providers, and gold coin dealers,” Paul writes, “is justified by the paternalistic attitude common in Washington, D.C. A member of Congress actually once told me that, ‘The people need these types of laws because they do not know what is good for them.’ This mindset fuels the growth of the nanny state and inevitably leads to what C.S. Lewis said may be the worst from of tyranny ‘…a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims.’”
Paul then issues a warning and a call to action.
“All Americans, even if they do not believe it is a wise choice to drink raw milk or use gold coins, should be concerned about the use of force to limit our choices. This is because there is no limiting principle to the idea that the government force is justified if used “for our own good.” Today it is those who sell raw milk who are being victimized by government force, tomorrow it could be those who sell soda pop or Styrofoam cups. Therefore, all Americans should speak out against these injustices.”
Walter Jones speaks for many
My representative.
February 27, 2013
Though some anti-war activists may say it is too little too late
while others are saying better late than never – all in response to
comments this past weekend by Rep. Walter Jones (R-District 3) – we know
that our Representative in the U.S. House had his transformation years
ago. However, no matter how he is viewed by the public, you can be sure
the more conservative branch of the GOP is angered.
The Huffington Post reports that Jones, speaking at a
Young Americans for Liberty conference in Raleigh on Sunday, said that
former Vice President Dick Cheney would probably end up in hell for the
Iraq War. “Congress will not hold anyone to blame. Lyndon Johnsonʼs
probably rotting in hell right now because of the Vietnam War, and he
probably needs to move over for Dick Cheney,” Jones said.
The YAL is a group that was formed
during former Rep. Ron Paulʼs (R-Texas) 2008 presidential campaign.
Jones credited Paul for helping him understand, “if youʼre ever going to
send young men and women to die, it needs to be with the Constitution
and debated by the Congress.” He also called the U.S. the drone policy
“absolutely unconstitutional.” “When that drone comes to America from a
foreign country, weʼre going to wonder what in the hell hit us,” he
said.
True, Rep. Jones did come to condemn the
wars in Iraq and Afghanistan after voting to invade in 2003, but since
he came to his current understanding, he has been both unwavering and
unapologetic – all while constantly supporting our military.
We applaud his honesty.
