    =========
    Good morning, Brock

    (1) apologies, I did not view your 6 Aug post asking for the $20 checks ... mine will be in the mail by tomorrow

    (2) with regard to the shortwave communications ... I am not preparing a formal presentation ... my contribution is a 'show and tell' for those interested

    David and Chuck Ayers will help me set up a fiberglass antenna mast near a "booth" in the car-park area (so I can steal power from my vehicle for the equipment)

    Plans at the moment are to use a small camping canopy and folding table to exhibit and possibly demonstrate some of the following

    HF station for long distance communications ... SSB voice, CW morse code and WL2K radio email

    VHF/UHF FM mobile station for metro area comms ... voice only ... direct and via 'repeaters'

    I have just started to package equipment and design / construct transportable antenna gear (all of my equipment is currently set up as a 'base station') ... will confirm details as I test things

    (3) David or Chuck may have an existing presentation on emergency radio preparation ... I'm copying them as a prompt :>)

    Chuck indicated he could bring a variety of VHF/UHF FM hand-held equipment of various for tactical / local comms to add to the demo table... FRS, GRMS, et al

    (4) I plan to make a day-trip to Tarboro on Saturday, like last time ... hope to arrive early and stay late (with no SNAFU like last time)

    Hope this info is helpful.

    Best Regards,

    Hans

    =========

    Brock/David/Hans,

    I can provide an HF rig + SCS Modem + Laptop to operate the WinLink/Pactor station, if wanted -

    I have an MFJ collapsible pole of ~30ft. height that can support an antenna for whatever HF we set up.

    Also planning to bring Woxoun and Motorola-GMRS portables to demo.

    I don't presently have a suitably short presentation on communications - my combined HF/VHF "Intro" presentation runs 2-3 hours depending on attendance and questions, as David and Hans can attest to. I could prepare two ~15 or 20 minute quickie overviews - one each for HF/Shortwave and VHF/Portable operations, but these will be really thin on details due to such a time constraint.

    I also missed the request to send $$. Apologies - will get this out to you ASAP, Brock.

    I would plan to car-pool with Hans so as to save fuel costs.

    Regards,
    Chuck

    =========

    If anyone agrees, I will do a quick overview of the licensing procedures, review the setup for the radios at the PatCon and then stress the importance of communications. Let me know.

    David

    "At the moment, for those interested, everything looks to be on schedule for having the prototypes at Brock's PatCom in early October. I'm not sure if I will be free, but Jim has very kindly agreed to escort the prototypes to NC and let everyone check our work. One of our Founders has a training weekend just before Brock's gig, and if we have a prototype ready, we'll get one to him for that in PA. We'll have to then work out the rest of the T&E schedule."

The money from sponsors (committed or collected) will offset the cost of 10.5 people. There are three more openings left for the TCCC class. Remember to include your request to attend this class with your check. Any requests received after the class is filled will be added to a wait list.

  50. Brock,

    I may have an opening in my schedule for that weekend. I will know within 2 days. What is the deadline on attending? Also I need to know if this is a Militia friendly gathering? (ie: uniforms and sidearms accepted) I may attend with my wife and a small PSD. If you feel the uniform or open carry will make folks nervous, I am still willing to attend in plain clothes. (since NC honors our ccw)

  59. David has the credentials to buy and sell in NC, so he could tell you the particulars, but as far as I know, if you are a NC resident, you can sell a long gun face to face to another NC resident only. There was talk of making this a gun show, but I was told there would definitely be one uninvited person coming if I did that, so since I wasn't interested in such, I declined to do so. This will not be a gun show and there will be nothing illegal at this address nor will there be anything illegal done here. The III Arms that will be brought here are for perusal only. The winner of the shotgun will have it transferred to them from David legally.

    1. Certainly, and by the way, you will have a fellow camper there Thursday night, plus we will be coming in earlier than I thought, so should be four by the campfire.:)

    2. I'm an FFL as well, and will be transferring the shotgun to David to transfer to the winner. We at III have one shot at this, cause you know the key will get tossed if we do something stupid.
      Now, that said, I've got a few without serial numbers I'm looking to part with.

      (flashlights, that is ;-) )

    3. Never can have enough flashlights.

    4. Agreed and it's fortunate they have serial number,s so the BATF can keep track of everything we have............:)

  67. Sorry brothers, I'm being called to be in Egypt during this event.

    I had no control over the dates of our Baptist Global Medical Resonse Team was leaving.

    Hope everyone has a great time, several folks from our Chatham County KTM and my wife will be attending though.

    Have a good one and please keep our team in your prayers, were not the most popular folks in Cairo these days.

    Best,

    Randy Dye III
