Ron Paul: "I'm FOR Gun Control! I Want To Take The Guns From These Bureaucrats Enforcing Federal Laws!"

Via Cousin John

The Man Who Could Have Been President.  Just think what could have been. Sad.

Political Reality 101

The world did not begin on the day of your birth.

Simply being born does not entitle you to anything more than your inalienable Natural Rights.

That's it.  Inalienable Natural Rights.  Mister Jefferson articulated the concept as "Rightful Liberty".

In America, a group of pretty sharp guys proposed a system of governance designed - for the first time in Human history - to protect the Natural Rights of the individual, particularly against the heavy hand of Government.  This happened a few hundred years ago.  Other men of that time put their heads together and agreed with the proposal, and by a very large margin of support, this became the law of the land.  It was ratified because people thought it was a good idea - no one had a gun to their head.  The people in the states could have simply voted "No" if they didn't want it.

The system of governance, called republicanism, is supposed to be implemented through our Constitution.  Our Constitution, as ratified and intended, does not provide any mechanism for "The Federal Government" to put their hands upon any Citizen, except in a very select set of circumstances for enumerated crimes.  It is only through perversion of the Constitution that abuses of Natural Rights occur.

Over the years Bad People have corrupted the system, as we were warned they would do, for in every age of Man there will be those who mean to be Masters.  You were never promised a rose garden, and you were never guaranteed a life in which Bad People would not try to do Bad Things to you.  If you were promised a rose garden or a life free of the schemes of evil men, you need to find that person and bitchslap him.  He lied to you.

I say this as kindly and gently as I am able: You are not special.

Congressman Darrell Issa with his list of reasons not to stop Obamacare

Retired INS Agent: Comprehensive Immigration Reform Should Rightly be Called the ‘Terrorist Assistance and Facilitation Act”

Right now, do you think our nation’s borders are secured? If you don’t, what do you think our government can do to make you and your family safe? And will it be done? According to, the Republican National Committee passed a resolution Friday that calls on Congress to create a special, legal status for illegal immigrants brought to America as minors—or “DREAMers” as immigration activists call them, for the eponymous bill to provide them legal status, which would include a renewable five-year work permit. They would have to provide proof of employment or enrollment to retain the status.

Both parties have caved to special interests and have not considered the national security risks involved with giving millions of undocumented immigrants’ legal status and an official U.S. IDs. The premise that was asserted by the 9/11 Commission was “if terrorists cannot get into this country, they cannot commit violent acts of terrorism in this country.” The U.S. has failed to change its policies and has ignored the 9/11 Commission’s recommendations for over a decade now. Ed Kowalski director of the 9/11 Families for a Secure America Foundation said, “Terrorists have come into this country in the thousands among the millions of illegal aliens who simply walk across our border or who come here with visas or without visas, and they over stay their visits.”

At least 47 churches were torched in Egypt since last week

Image: Egypt's Christians Under Siege as Islamists Attack Families, Destroy Churches

Egypt's Christians are living in a profound state of fear after a string of attacks against churches, businesses and homes they say were carried out by angry supporters of ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi.

That fear was given new voice Monday when Egypt's Coptic Catholic community offered its support for the armed forces against what it defined as "terrorist" violence by Islamist supporters of Morsi.

In a message relayed by the Italian Episcopal news agency SIR, Catholic Coptic Patriarch Ibrahim Isaac Sidrak emphasized there were no real divisions between Christians and Muslims in Egypt.

He also thanked the military and the police in Egypt "for all their efforts in protecting the country."

"We thank all those of our fellow Muslim citizens who have shown themselves to be so close to us and have tried to defend our churches and institutions," he said.

National Review: Back Egypt's Military, Not Brotherhood

Image: National Review: Back Egypt's Military, Not Brotherhood

All we need to do is nothing.  None of our business.

The National Review, the country's leading conservative thought publication, argues in an editorial that the U.S. should stand strongly behind the Egyptian military and other legitimate democratic forces in opposing the Muslim Brotherhood.

In the strongly worded editorial posted to its website, the National Review argues that despite the mounting casualties as Egypt’s military-backed government escalates its war with the Muslim Brotherhood, the Egyptian military is ultimately the "best hope" for a viable and eventual democratic state in the Arab world’s most populous nation.

Sherman, a Disturbed Personality

Via Billy

In his book The History of the Confederacy 1832-1865  Clifford Dowdey on page 321, made some interesting comments about some of the Yankee/Marxist generals involved in the War. He noted:

“The Sheridans, Milroys and Hunters had a different kind of arrogance from the neo-princelings of the Cotton South. They had the arrogance of unrestrained might. Without regard for rights—of belligerents or fellow citizens or even of the so-called human rights.” Let alone the Union—these bully boys had a lust for physical violence and wanton destruction.”

Of William Tecumseh Sherman Dowdey wrote, on page 374, “He was the executioner of the sentence which the sitters-in-judgment wished to have carried out against the Southern people. He destroyed a civilization. To the South he remains a symbol of the wanton and ruthless brutality of a might which denied all human rights to its victims…All through the reign of terror (Sherman’s march) the coarsest of the Union soldiers displayed the lust to degrade and desecrate the symbols of a civilization superior to anything they had personally experienced. Class hatred had been localized into hatred of a section which represented the pride of the aristocrat. That pride they wanted to humble and, by humbling, establish their own superiority to it…Sherman’s glorified march set back the real cause of union by at least the fifty years he mentioned…Sherman struck the heaviest and most lasting blow for continuing division.” Considering some of the socialist and Marxist generals commanding his troops that should come as no real surprise.

Patriot Plate Update

Via WiscoDave

Just a short update on the plates.
The plates were finally finished at 0530 on Friday morning!  The side plates were still warm from the plasma cuts when they showed up at our store!

They really look great.  I had been warned that the corners would be razor sharp from the cuts and had laid on heavy gloves to handle them.  Not so!  Ive been handling them bare handed without a problem.

We were at a gun show all weekend up in Greenville, SC, and started to unpack the truck this morning.  Then it was on to the plates!

Weve got them all packed finally.  I got the wife to help me, and I need to bring flowers home tonight to make up.

I played around with finishing them while at the gun show this weekend.  They are raw steel, so they have spots of rust from the rain, and of course they have lots of black dust on them from the plasma cuts.

At the show, we cleaned them with a bunch of elbow grease and some spray brake dust cleaner (the cheapest stuff they had at the Auto Parts place.)  They clean up very easily, and the brake cleaner dries fast with no residue.

Back at the store, I tried something that would take less elbow grease.
120 grit sandpaper on the sander for about 10 seconds.  All the rust spots gone.  Sprayed it with some citrus cleaner and wiped.  Total time about 30 seconds.  Ive attached a picture of the beautiful plates!

I will finish preparing the shipping labels and putting your ownership documents together tomorrow.  The post office should pick them up on Wednesday.

I will follow up with a USPS tracking number once the labels are done.
Ive got to tell you that they turned out even better than I ever thought they would.  The plasma cuts are clean and the plate look great.

Thanks for letting me be part of this venture.

Well have prices on cheap plate carriers either late this week or first thing Monday.

Communism as Real as Baseball

The socialist basis of the United States today has its origins in the 1920s and 1930s, the rise of the Communist Party USA, and Roosevelt the Second’s appropriation of the collectivist vote to hold power.  For those connecting the dots, the civil rights outbursts of the 1950s had CPUSA underpinnings, and the 1960s saw an American cultural revolution as a predictable result.   Bernhard Thuersam

Communism as Real as Baseball:

“In an attempt to reinforce ties between the country’s past and the CPUSA’s socialist program for the future, the ideological roots of the Communist party grew beyond Marx, Lenin and Stalin, who were placed on an equal ideological standing with the founding fathers.  The preamble to the Party’s new constitution . . . stated that American Communists carried “forward today the traditions of Jefferson, Paine, Jackson and Lincoln, and of the Declaration of Independence.”  The Declaration of Independence became the Communist Manifesto of the eighteenth century . . . and important Party functions were held to coincide with Washington’s Birthday, a date the Party leadership insisted had to be “politically utilized.”

The claim of the continuity of the country’s revolutionary past and the Communist program, culminated in [CPUSA Presidential candidate Earl] Browder’s slogan, “Communism is the Americanism of the twentieth century.”

A changed political reality led to a new terminology: “anti-fascist,” “progressive,” and “democracy” became the new catch-words replacing “proletarian,” and “dictatorship of the proletariat.”  The Daily Worker opened its pages with a range of nonpolitical topics including reviews of popular movies and a column on the problems of raising and disciplining children.  The paper’s sports writer, Lester Rodney, successfully combined first class reporting with the denunciation of racial discrimination in professional sports.

The Young Communist League, not to be outdone, sponsored fashion shows complete with models sporting the latest in “anti-fascist style” women’s clothing, and promoted the boycott of Japanese silk in favor of synthetic substitutes and cotton.

When young Communists met in convention they no longer limited themselves to speeches and passing resolutions. They now rocked Madison Square Garden with jitterbugging and ever performed a musical revue, “Socialism in Swing” . . . Communists also began promoting Big Band music, more specifically black music such as swing, jazz, and even traditional spirituals as embodiments of the county’s national character and popular music.

Black artists such as W.C. Handy, Fats Waller, Cab Calloway, Jimmy Lunceford, Count Basie, and boogie-woogie pianist Albert Ammons and Meade Lewis, played at Party-sponsored events.

In commenting on the decision to introduce a sports page in the Daily Worker as a regular feature in 1936, [it was commented that]: “When you run the news of a strike alongside the news of a baseball game, you are making American workers feel at home. It gives them the feeling that Communism is nothing strange and foreign, but is as real as baseball . . . let’s loosen up.  Let’s begin to prove that we can be a human being as well as a Communist. It isn’t a little sect of bookworms or soapboxers.”

Partner of Guardian reporter working with Snowden detained at London airport

Via avordvet

The partner of Glenn Greenwald -- the American journalist who published stories based on documents from former National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden -- was held for nearly nine hours by British authorities while traveling through London’s Heathrow Airport Sunday.

Greenwald’s partner, David Miranda, was trying to get home to Rio de Janeiro when he was stopped by airport authorities, the Guardian reported. Authorities told him he would be questioned under Schedule 7 of Britain’s 2000 Terrorism Act -- which allows officers to stop, search, question and detain individuals at airports, border areas and ports to determine if they are involved in terrorist acts.

Miranda, 28, was held for almost nine hours -- the maximum the law allows -- before he was released without charge. But officials took his electronic equipment, including his cellphone, camera, laptop, memory sticks, DVDs and games.

U.S. Amnesty Shelters Revealed: Law Enforcement Ordered to Stand Down (Video)

The El Paso Rescue Mission shelter stands approximately 100 yards from the U.S./Mexico border. Border Patrol agents have been ordered by their higher-ups not to go there and enforce U.S. laws on the property, according to the Vice President of the Local 1929 Border Patrol Council, Stu Harris.

“They will not allow Border Patrol agents to go onto the property to enforce U.S. laws,” he said. He further stated that the border fence in the area was left unfinished and that another fence between the border and the shelter was left damaged and opened (as shown in the video below). “We have about 100 panels of border fence just sitting there at our nearby training area,” he said.

In classified cyberwar against Iran, trail of Stuxnet leak leads to White House

The Obama administration provided a New York Times reporter exclusive access to a range of high-level national security officials for a book that divulged highly classified information on a U.S. cyberwar on Iran’s nuclear program, internal State Department emails show.

The information in the 2012 book by chief Washington correspondent David E. Sanger has been the subject of a yearlong Justice Department criminal investigation: The FBI is hunting for those who leaked details to Mr. Sanger about a U.S.-Israeli covert cyberoperation to infect Iran’s nuclear facilities with a debilitating computer worm known as Stuxnet.

Dollar Bills SC When welfare pays better than work

Here’s an offer for you: $38,004 per year, tax free.No work required.Apply at your local welfare office.
The federal government funds 126 separate programs targeted towards low-income people, 72 of which provide either cash or in-kind benefits to individuals. (The rest fund community-wide programs for low-income neighborhoods, with no direct benefits to individuals.) State and local governments operate more welfare programs.Of course, no individual or family gets benefits from all 72 programs, but many do get aid from a number of them at any point in time.

Today, the Cato institute is releasing a new study looking at the state-by-state value of welfare for a mother with two children. In the Empire State, a family receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Medicaid, food stamps, WIC, public housing, utility assistance and free commodities (like milk and cheese) would have a package of benefits worth $38,004, the seventh-highest in the nation.

While that might not sound overly generous, remember that welfare benefits aren’t taxed, while wages are. So someone in New York would have to earn more than $21 per hour to be better off than they would be on welfare. That’s more than the average statewide entry-level salary for a teacher.

Obama may have all the rope he needs to hang American gun owners

Via avordvet

It has taken the global left nearly 2 decades to usher the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) through the friendly confines of the United Nations. Offered for signature in its final form in June, the Treaty which purports to “establish common international standards for regulating the trade in conventional arms,” really is as dangerous to the right of Americans to keep and bear arms as 2nd Amendment supporters have claimed since the Obama Regime–specifically, Hillary Clinton–began the push for the Treaty’s eventual ratification several years ago. (1)

The ATT was deliberately written in broad, general terms throughout most of its text. In this way, the Treaty can generously “reaffirm the sovereign right of any State to regulate and control conventional arms exclusively within its territory, pursuant to its own legal or constitutional system.” (1) Of course this language from the Preamble mentions nothing about keeping or bearing arms, just regulation and control.

And to effectively manage that process of regulation and control, the Treaty “…require[s] that states “establish and maintain a national control system, including a national control list” and “designate competent national authorities in order to…regulate the transfer of conventional arms.” (2)  (my italics)

Of course, in and of itself a “national control system” can mean virtually anything. But when someone with Barack Obama’s noted contempt for the right to keep and bear arms is charged with implementing the Treaty, a “national control system including a national control list” can mean just one thing–the nationwide registration of firearms.

Anyone who believes this to be a reach should know that Treaty authors considered the national control system important enough to be mentioned 10 times in the ATT’s text. In fact, the control system and control list are deemed mandatory “in order to implement the provisions of the Treaty,” that is, “to regulate the export of amunition/munitions…” (1)

MKA1919, the Rifleman’s Shotgun it's like a piston AR15 in 12 gauge

Like most of us, I don’t get enough training even with my primary rifle. Shotgun, a secondary weapon for me, gets even less range and class time. As a result, my efforts to operate a Remington 870 or an 1100 efficiently run into the basic lack of familiarity born of insufficient training or practice. This is why I took such a keen interest in the MKA1919, a shotgun was designed with the AR15 users in mind. The right hand charging handle actually makes its manual of arms closer to Sig556, but the rest of the design, including sights, safety and stock all favor the most common sporting and defensive rifle in America.

Report: Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to be freed

Egyptian judicial officials have ordered former President Hosni Mubarak freed from jail, a stunning turnaround for the 85-year-old strongman who ruled the nation for three decades before being ousted in a popular revolution, and a move that could plunge the unraveling North African nation into further violence.

The announcement, which comes as Egypt is roiling with new protests following the July 3 ouster of Mubarak's successor, Mohammad Morsi, stoked fears of even more violent reprisals from the Muslim Brotherhood, whose supporters have clashed with security forces and torched dozens of Coptic churches.

As many as 1,000 Egyptians, including 70 soldiers and police officers, have been killed in the last week in fighting between the Muslim Brotherhood and the nation's more secular Muslims and Christians. On Sunday, some 25 Egyptian police were ambushed and executed in the lawless Sinai Peninsula, where the Muslim Brotherhood appears to have aligned with Al Qaeda fighters.

Pit bulls no match for hometown hero

“I don’t consider myself a hero,” says Rock Hill, S.C., resident Tim Walling.

But to the elderly couple he saved from being torn apart by pit bulls, Walling is both hero and Good Samaritan.

According to a report from Rock Hill Herald columnist Andrew Dys, Walling was driving home from work earlier this month, when he saw two dogs attacking an elderly couple. The woman was screaming, holding a pair of smaller dogs the couple had been out walking. The man was already bitten once and trying to fend off the barking beasts.

But unlike other motorists in the rush hour traffic, who passed by the scene on the other side of the street, Walling spun his pickup around, drove up onto the sidewalk and jumped into the fray.

“A bunch of other drivers saw it too. They must have,” Dys comments. “It happened on the sidewalk and in a parking lot of an apartment complex on a busy city street, near an intersection with other busy city streets.”

Walling had no weapons, not even a stick or shovel, but ran yelling at the dogs and swinging his arms wildly.

Judge scolds Dems for ignoring constitution

A series of bills passed by Colorado Democrats in the state legislature hit a snag last week after a judge berated the lawmakers for ignoring the state’s constitution.

“Writing an election law so clearly non-compliant with the state constitution,” Denver District Judge Robert McGahey said in a ruling, “I find that both sad and, frankly, shocking.”

The judge’s rebuke was made in reference to a 126-page bill passed by the Democrats under the guise of “election reform,” but as the bill was being debated, it became apparent to some that the real purpose of the bill was to enable Democrats to win elections.

Among other things, the bill requires all elections to be conducted by mail-in ballot and allow for same-day registration. The bill also eliminates residency requirements so state residents can go anywhere in the state and vote.

Republican Secretary of State Scott Gessler warned the Democrats that the bill is a disaster waiting to happen and there was no need for it, as Colorado was one of the few states that increased voter turnout in 2012. Gessler and his office were never consulted about the bill.

Feds: More Americans selling their food stamps for cash

The percentage of Americans selling their food stamps back to stores for cash has increased by 30 percent over the past several years, according to a new Agriculture Department study.

The study on food stamps trafficking -- which the agency said included “covert investigation” in stores -- compared the periods of 2006 -2008 to 2009 -2011.

Despite the increase, trafficking has declined since the 1990s, when the rate was nearly 4 percent of food stamps, also known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs benefits.

The total amount of SNAP benefits is now at roughly $858  million, compared to $330 million annually in the 2006-2008 period.

The increase reflects the overall growth  in SNAP participation and benefits, the agency said in the August 2013 report,

Activist Judge to Block Voter ID In Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania lawmakers last year passed a voter ID law that was derided by the NAACP and others the moment it was signed. A long court battle has now handed anti-voter-ID advocates a victory:
A state judge issued an order Friday that is expected to block enforcement of Pennsylvania's strict voter-identification law in the Nov. 5 general election.
After legal jousting that reached the state Supreme Court, a judge blocked enforcement in last year's presidential election and again in this year's municipal and judicial primary because of lingering concern that it could disenfranchise voters who lacked a valid photo ID.
The state of Pennsylvania spent many millions of dollars on a publicity campaign to educate voters about the new voter ID law, yet the key reasoning in the Pennsylvania court's decision was about the lack of information that Keystone state voters might suffer.

John Hawkins wrote about the need for voter ID laws on Townhall a while back:

From my hometown: Can Joe Dombrowski ride out of Lance Armstrong’s shadow?

Via Sister Anne

Dombrowski got his start in cycling riding trails with a friend at Fauquier High School who raced mountain bikes. Once Dombrowski entered a race, he was hooked.

Marshall, Virginia

"Mosby Country" Friends

Nice, France — Tall and lanky, the young man is all limbs, each stretching out like spokes on a bike, thin but strong. On a picturesque morning in a picturesque town, he steps out of his apartment near the port and starts pedaling. He turns a corner, away from the water, and heads north, palm trees at his back, the Ligurian Alps in the distance and the morning sun poking through the old buildings along Boulevard de Riquier.

Joe Dombrowski, 21, stands 6 feet 2 and weighs just north of 140 pounds. He’s new in town, having moved here from his home in Northern Virginia just a few weeks earlier, but the route is a familiar one. It’s the same one the fallen hero used to take when he lived here, back before he was a hero and before he fell.

It’s only a coincidence, though, that Dombrowski, perhaps the sport’s brightest phenom, begins his pro cycling career in Nice. This is the same city in which Lance Armstrong lived and trained shortly after recovering from cancer, and just before winning his first two Tours de France. Today Armstrong is the sport’s dark ghost, his systematic use of performance-enhancing drugs, his lying about it and his ultimate forced admission hovering over everything. And Dombrowski is the young cyclist who could help lead the embattled sport from out of its self-inflicted wreckage, but only by pedaling his way out of Armstrong’s long shadow.

Jefferson Davis: Our Greatest Hero

Via Billy

When Jefferson Davis saw the U.S. flag as he was leaving the prison dungeon in which he was kept for two years, he stated: "There is the gridiron under which we were grilled."

President Jefferson Davis: "If this action is once tolerated, where will it end? Where is constitutional liberty? What strength is there in bills of rights-in limitation of power? What new hope for mankind is to be found in written constitutions, what remedy which did not exist under kings of emperors? If the doctrines thus announced by the government of the United States are conceded, then look through either end of the political telescope, and one sees only an empire, and the once famous Declaration of Independence trodden in the dust of as a "glittering generality," and the compact of the union denounced as a "flaunting lie". I love the Union and the Constitution, but I would rather leave the Union with the Constitution than remain in the Union without it. Those who submit to such consequence without resistance are not worthy the liberties and rights to which they were born, and deserve to be made slaves. Such must be the verdict of mankind."

"Although the Confederacy as an organization may have ceased to exist, the fundamental principles, the eternal truths, uttered when our colonies in 1776 declared their independence, on which the Confederation of 1781 and the Union of 1788 were formed, and which animated and guided the Confederacy of 1861, yet live, and in God's appointed place and time, will prevail."

--Jefferson Davis

During and after the War for Southern Independence, Jefferson Davis was accused of a wide variety of villainies. Not all of his accusers were Yankees, but Northerners made the most extensive and lasting attacks upon Davis. In one of these insults -- a letter embossed with an American eagle crushing "Secession" and holding proudly in its beak a U.S. banner announcing "Death to Traitors" -- a New Yorker wrote: "Jeff Davis you rebel traitor here is the beauty of America one of the greatest treasures that ever waved over your sinful head. Now I want you to look at this motto and think of me for -- say death to cession [sic] and death to all traitors to their country and these are my sentiments exactly. Yours not with respect for I can never respect a traitor to his Country a cursed traitor." The same view of Davis as being "among the archtraitors in our annals" was expressed just as emphatically years later by Theodore Roosevelt and Harvard University Professor Albert T. Perkins.

Davis became, and remained to Northerners, the quintessential wrongdoer. Later generations of liberal progressives would consider him an American Hitler. Immediately after the War for Southern Independence Yankee authorities put Davis in jail and left him there for two years without a trial, while they tried to implicate him in the assassination of Lincoln, alleged cruelty to Federal prisoners, and treason itself. Though never brought to trial or convicted of any crime, Davis received abundant abuse in the Yankee press and on the podium. During and after the war the New York Times depicted him as a murderer, a cruel slaveowner whose servants ran away, a liar, a boaster, a fanatic, a confessed failure, a hater, a political adventurer, a supporter of outcasts and outlaws, a drunkard, an atrocious misrepresenter, an assassin, an incendiary, a criminal who was gratified by the assassination of Lincoln, a henpecked husband, a man so shameless that he would try to escape capture by disguising himself as a woman, a supporter of murder plots, an insubordinate soldier, an unwholesome sleeper, and a mean-spirited malingerer.
