Scoop: Four people matching terror watchlist arrested at border

The Customs and Border Protection agency confirmed to Congress today that four people arrested at the southern border since Oct. 1 match names on the FBI's Terrorist Screening Database, a congressional aide briefed on the correspondence told Axios.

Why it matters: Three of the people arrested were from Yemen and one was from Serbia. The four arrests are more than the number of similar people taken into custody during recent full fiscal years, according to the source. In fiscal 2018, six people from Yemen and Bangladesh were arrested.

‘A Scorched Earth Senate’ - Editorial of The New York Sun | March 16, 2021

Via Hal

In respect of the filibuster, Senator Mitch McConnell certainly put the hay down where us mules can get to it. The Republican leader unloaded after a hapless Ben Cardin, senator of Maryland, while talking on Monday with Transportation Secretary Buttigieg, “accidentally” got caught by a hot-mic and, as the New York Post retailed the story, “outed plans to pass an infrastructure bill without Republican votes.”

Mr. McConnell responded today with a prediction of the kind rarely heard in the upper chamber. “Let me say this very clearly, for all 99 of my colleagues,” the Kentuckian rasped. “Nobody serving in this chamber can even begin — can even begin — to imagine what a completely scorched earth Senate would look like. None of us has even served one minute in a Senate that was completely drained of comity and consent.”

Judge Rules Democratic Secretary of State Broke Law With Ballot Order , Vindicating Trump Claim

A Michigan judge ruled last week Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (D) broke state law when she unilaterally issued rules related to absentee balloting, legitimizing a key claim made by the Trump campaign in its legal challenges to the 2020 election.

Benson issued several unilateral orders during the 2020 election including sending absentee ballot applications to all registered voters. She also issued “guidance” on how to evaluate absentee ballots, a move Michigan Court of Claims Chief Judge Christopher Murray held violated the state’s Administrative Procedures Act.

The war on normal and why it matters

One of the most effective things that Marxists do is to commandeer language and steer it toward revolutionary goals. By their language, you will know them – but don't give them the time of day.

Given the level of insanity erupting at all levels in America, it wasn't really a shock when the huge, multinational corporation Unilever announced in early March that it was pulling the word "normal" from at least half of its products.

No more soap for "normal skin care," or shampoo for "normal hair."  It's offensive.

Carney: The Economy Accelerated Before Stimulus Hit, Undermining Biden’s Narrative

President Joe Biden is facing a pandemic challenge he never anticipated: an economy that is much stronger than forecast.

Biden ran against Trump in part on the idea that the White House’s alleged mishandling of the pandemic had unnecessarily damaged the U.S. economy. He took office predicting the months ahead would be a “dark winter” and successfully pushed for $1.9 trillion of emergency spending to ward off a second downturn.

Now Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are setting out on a nationwide tour to tout the spending package. The challenge they face is that the economy is recovering too quickly for them to be able to credibly claims credit for the expansion later.
