*"We are wont to make of history a chronicle of obvious effect and not of vital cause. We write of battles fought and not battles forced. We tell the story of our great sires' deeds and leave untold the reasons for their acts. We measure in the common scales success by what we see achieved and not by what right though unachieved. We think a cause lost with a field and see no victor but a Grant at every Appomattox.*

* From such a narrow view as this, these bones cry out. The men interred about us here had died in vain if death had been defeat. They live because defeat meant victory!*

* What were those ideals consecrated at First Manassas, exalted at Chancellorsville, sealed and accepted at Appomattox? These ancient oaks whisper them; these gray coats attest them; these women who for fifty years have kept this sacred day bear witness to them; these children's faces unwittingly reflect them:*

* That government is the choice of the governed, a sacred right that only tyranny can overrule; That it is for the governed to change their government when its powers are misused; That those who give may take again and shape to better use the creature of their hands; That in defense of freedom, self may not be reckoned or sacrifice be counted; That duty to righteous principle is duty to God!*

Target: IRS scandal pointing to Obama

Doofus

Ain't a doubt about it and there never was.

The president of the grassroots organization at the center of the recent IRS scandal says she believes the rabbit trail will lead to the “highest offices in the land.”

Former IRS official Lois Lerner may soon be facing a contempt of Congress citation and even criminal prosecution for her role in directing unlawful scrutiny toward conservative organizations seeking tax-exempt status, but the biggest bombshell of the week is the revelation that Lerner’s office shared sensitive tax information with the top Democrat on the committee investigating the scandal.

The Bureau of Land Management, whose director was Sen. Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) former senior adviser, has purged documents from its web site stating that the agency wants Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s cattle off of the land his family has worked for over 140 years in order to make way for solar panel power stations.

Some armed militias rally in support of Nevada rancher

With his Nevada ranch surrounded by helicopters, four-wheel-drive vehicles and an estimated 200 armed officers of the federal Bureau of Land Management, Cliven Bundy is drawing support from the governor and other prominent political leaders along with a host of protesters from other states, including fellow cattle ranchers and private armed militias.

At least three people have been arrested, and militias have made the confrontation over Bundy’s use of federal land for grazing a rally cry.

Eric Holder in hot water with federal judge over drug sentencing guidelines

 https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4HYEXeCKDeEPsEctIQjMilqexaToe63nWnUI_CU1Q4FcnvXU7Yk0A4TLakWHcFOBxra0kXM7FIEhWvLTIB4LU-T2AlJ8WkzTAQwRIT8WIt8noNPJbtMjsoT2fo0bsbXRnePVJVSumYxM/s1600/no-tyrants-stop-racist-eric-holder.jpg

Attorney General Eric Holder is the nation's chief law enforcement officer, so his job is to enforce laws duly passed by Congress and signed by the president.

Nowhere in his job description does the AG get to decide unilaterally to reduce federal drug sentencing guidelines. Don't expect Holder to be deterred by that fact, however.

After appearing several months ago before the U.S. Sentencing Commission to endorse a proposal it was then considering to reduce penalties in a variety of federal drug crimes, Holder effectively preempted both the commission, which is an independent agency within the judicial branch, and the Congress by instructing all U.S. assistant attorneys to not object when defense lawyers ask that their convicted clients be punished under the proposed guidelines.

Until yesterday, the commission had not yet officially endorsed the proposal. Congress has until Nov. 1, 2014, to decide whether it approves of it.

Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins has caused outrage by remarking that Utahns planning to travel to Nevada to support Cliven Bundy in his standoff against the feds “better have funeral plans”.

The comments were revealed by Darin Bushman, a Piute County, Utah, commissioner after he spoke with Collins about Utah ranchers and his colleagues on the County Commission complaining about tactics used by Bureau of Land Management agents during their seizure of Bundy’s cattle in southern Nevada.

“I was just told by commissioner Collins of Clark County NV that all of us folks from Utah are a bunch of “inbred bastards” and if we are coming to Clark Cointy NV to support Cliven Bundy we all “better have funeral plans”. We should “turn our asses around on mind our own f-ing business”. Now there’s some classy leadership for you,” wrote Bushman on his official Facebook page.

Kids who didn’t take the Common Core test were denied ice cream!

 ice cream

Were officials in the Arkport Central School District being petty and vindictive in their treatment of children whose parents removed them from Common Core testing?

If so, they went about it in the worst possible way – by giving an ice cream treat to the third through sixth grade students who took the tests, and denying those who didn’t.

Parents of the opt-out kids were simply exercising their legal rights, and they’re angered that their children had to pay the price in such an obviously nasty manner.

After all, THE fair and equitable distribution of ice cream is a very serious matter to elementary students.

Rand Paul: We Need Guns in '100 Percent' of Airplane Cockpits

According to Politico, Paul introduced a bill the goal of which is to have "100 percent of American pilots armed because [he] thinks it's a very cost effective" way of deterring terrorist attacks. In fact, he thinks it is the most "cost effective way of deterring another attack on our planes."

Sen. Paul said he wants to find "the most cost effective way of preventing another 9/11" and believes having all pilots armed is part of it.

Bear Spray, A Shotgun, and Zip Ties: Spokane Valley Burglars Pick The Wrong House.

 bear spray

Is it too much to hope that the Spokane Valley homeowner in this incident has internal and external security cameras? I only ask, because it I’d love to synch them up, speed them up a bit, and set all the action to Yakety Sax.

It takes a special kind of stupid to attempt to rob the same house several times over the course of a few days, but rather obviously, Raynee D. Moore and his two teen-aged accomplices are that kind of stupid:

Bundy was taken into custody to “protect public safety and maintain the peace.”

I got an idea, why don't you only ones go home and the peace will be maintained just fine........

A cheer erupted from the cowboy-hatted crowd early Monday afternoon as Cliven Bundy’s youngest daughter delivered the news: Davey had been set free.

“They gave him lunch and let him out,” Stetsy Cox, 21, told the assembled group of relatives and sympathizers at a rally for the embattled ranch family near the banks of the Virgin River.

In downtown Las Vegas a short time later, Dave Bundy spoke to the media about his arrest the day before in the federal roundup of his father’s cattle from public land 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas.

The 37-year-old said heavily armed federal agents roughed him up and arrested him for exercising his constitutional rights on a state highway in northeast Clark County on Sunday.

“They got on their loudspeaker and said that everyone needed to leave,” Dave Bundy said during an impromptu news conference alongside his father outside a 7-Eleven on Las Vegas Boulevard. “I stood there and continued to express my First Amendment right to protest, and they approached me and said that if I didn’t leave, they’d arrest me.”

California city declares Sriracha maker a nuisance

 I keep three in stock.

The company was founded by Vietnamese immigrant David Tran, who began mixing up his distinctive sauce in a bucket at his home in 1980. As business boomed, he opened a plant in Rosemead, moving to Irwindale when his company outgrew that facility.

**************************

A Southern California city has declared the factory that produces the popular Sriracha hot sauce a public nuisance.

The Irwindale City Council's action Wednesday night gives the factory 90 days to make changes to stop the spicy odors that prompted complaints from some residents last fall. Declaring a public nuisance will allow city officials to enter the factory and make changes if the odors persist after the deadline.

The decision came despite testimony by air-quality experts that progress was being made toward a resolution. The South Coast Air Quality Management District said its inspectors have taken air samples inside the plant, and believed the information gathered should allow the factory and the city to resolve their differences.

Attorney John Tate, who represents Sriracha maker Huy Fong Foods, Inc., said the company had been working with the AQMD on its filtration system since the complaints first arose and was committed to finding long-term solutions by June 1.

He called the public nuisance declaration a demonstration of "the city flexing its muscle and thumbing Huy Fong in the eye."

A call to Irwindale City Attorney Fred Galante was not immediately returned.
