VERBATIM POST

"A Time for Choosing" by Ronald Reagan

We have reached our own time for choosing. The numbers may have changed -- sigh -- but the issues are the same. Take the time watch this historic speech by the Gipper.

As I said in First Do No Harm:
We have to make decisions. Will we embrace the mantle of freedom based on limited government and individual liberty that our forefathers fought and died to deliver to us and that has made America the greatest nation on earth? Or will we abandon the American revolution and accept a second-class fate in a fundamentally transformed America that resembles a European social welfare state?

The following may strike some as provocative. Good. It is meant to inspire Patriots and government officials alike to think, discuss it with their friends, and be prepared for the momentous decision they will be required to make rather quickly, if an attempt to disarm Americans is ever tried again. For, no matter how it might be couched, spun, and rationalized, it will signal the end of America, as we have known it. With the current mood among the electorate, and big-government oriented Progressives now at the top of the ticket for both major political parties, the Progressives are about to take over our government lock, stock, and barrel. These folks have a radically different view of the proper role of government than common folk in the heartland, and actually think the majority has the right to violate the Liberty and natural rights of the minority by legislative or judicial fiat. Liberty loving Patriots will need to remain vigilant and prepared to defend those rights, or accept the status of serf or slave in a glorious sounding Progressive utopia, organized on the repugnant principle of mob rule.

Remember Katrina – Gun Collecting Can Be Treason

Since our schools won’t teach genuine American history anymore, many can be forgiven for not recalling the provocation that caused proud Englishmen to take up arms against the forces of their king at Lexington and Concord Massachusetts in 1775. These are now considered the opening battles of the American Revolution, even though they occurred over a year before the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

When the Minutemen started shooting the Redcoats, who were on a mission to confiscate and destroy their arsenal at Concord, they would have been considered by most as engaging in insurrection against their lawful government. From the perspective of the King, his loyal troops, and the majority of loyal British subjects then residing in the colonies, the king’s troops were just following lawful orders to disarm the colonists. The Loyalists undoubtedly viewed the Patriots as a lunatic fringe of disgruntled ‘tax protesters,’ and supported the Redcoats.

The Patriots learned a couple of valuable lessons that day. One was to disperse and conceal their arms so they didn’t make a convenient target for the forces of tyranny. The other was that they could easily rout an overwhelming force of ‘Regulars’ with guerrilla tactics. The lesson for the Loyalists was that vigilant free men on these shores – American Patriots – would never passively allow themselves to be disarmed by their government.

To true Patriots, the meaning and intent of the Second Amendment to our Constitution is not in question. It is no less than the reset button on our Republic – in case the First Amendment doesn’t work, the Second one will. It protects a sovereign right of all free men that is not negotiable, alterable, or subject to judicial interpretation. Frankly, all those officials forever tinkering with ways to get around it are wasting their time, on an endeavor that is bordering on treason. Please understand that this inalienable natural right existed long before the Constitution was drafted, and will exist long after these United States disintegrate. The only reason it was enumerated in the Bill of Rights, was to make it clear to our public servants that it was taboo for them even to try repeating King George’s mistake.

Ninety percent of Americans could vote to repeal the Second Amendment, and the right of free men to own and carry weapons would still exist; for our Constitution does not, and could not, grant or deny our natural rights. It can only help us defend them from those who wish it could. If you do not understand this truth, please do some studying, discussing, and pondering until you do. Free men in this world are born with their natural rights, they are not a mere privilege to be bestowed or withdrawn at the whim of a capricious government, popularly elected or not.

The Second Amendment is not about hunting, target practice, or fowling pieces. Arms are weapons, and it would be irresponsible of Americans ever to permit errant public servants to disarm us. The disarming of honest citizens during the civil unrest (when they were arguably most needed) in the aftermath of the Hurricane Katrina disaster, was an embarrassment to law enforcement everywhere, and a wakeup call to the rest of us. The citizens of New Orleans were so caught off guard by the audacity of the move that the police got away with it. We simply cannot ever permit such a travesty to happen again.

Therefore:

To all elected officials, sheriffs, deputies, marshals, constables, sundry law enforcement officers, and military personnel. As a Vietnam era veteran and former peace officer myself, I respect your service and understand that most of you value our Liberty as much as any citizen. For the few who may not fully comprehend what that means, this is a reminder that as a condition of your employment as one of our public servants, you were required to swear an oath to defend the Constitution of these United States of America. We the people who employ you, take this oath seriously and regard any breach of same treasonous.

Be advised that hereafter your sovereign employers will consider any order to disarm private citizens, in any jurisdiction within these United States, a brazen act of treason. Further, any officer who obeys such a treasonous order, and attempts to confiscate our arms, is himself engaged in an act of treason. Keep in mind, “I was just following orders…” never has been, and never will be, considered a valid defense for treason. Anyone receiving such an order has the solemn duty to arrest immediately the traitorous fool who made it; and, most regrettably, any fellow officers inclined to execute it. Failing that, it would be advisable to resign and get out of a conspicuous uniform immediately.

For those arrogant enough to think government has the overwhelming force and would prevail, think again. We take our Liberty seriously. Unlike the unprepared and baffled citizens of New Orleans, do not expect us to cower in our homes awaiting your arrival. You will be ambushed in the field in the spirit of North Bridge at Concord, by a serious force of well-armed citizens, intent on summarily eradicating with extreme prejudice, any traitors who are intent on disarming us. Then, we will track down and hang the supercilious ass who gave the treasonous order.

Don’t even think about violating the Posse Comitatus Act and trying to field our military forces against us. It is unclear how many would violate their oath and fire on American Patriots defending their right to keep and bear arms, but we would prevail in the end anyway. We would win the same way our forefathers defeated the British occupation; the Vietnamese defeated the American occupation; the Afghans defeated the Soviet occupation; and the Taliban now seem to be in the process of defeating ours. These victories came about, not by brilliance on the battlefield; but by simply refusing to lose, and wearing down the occupiers until they eventually just gave up and went home, weary of the grind, the cost, and the frustrating inability ever to achieve final victory.

Ponder this carefully, you Sons of Liberty, and be well prepared for the fateful decision you are likely to eventually have to make. Respect for authority is deeply ingrained in many; but there frequently comes a time in a man’s life when honor and self respect demand that we stand up on our hind legs and bellow in rage at injustice and the forces of tyranny. We are fast approaching such a time and our birthright as freemen will be seriously tested. Freeman, serf, or slave… the choice will be yours to make. Choose wisely.

Note: Please feel free to copy and disseminate any or all of this essay, with or without attribution, as far and wide as possible. I really do think that our nation would be well served by thoughtful and open discussions on this subject ahead of time; particularly in cop shops and military barracks. ◄Dave►

White Males Cutting the Rope that Supports You

View Image

One constantly hears tedious squalling by the affirmative-action classes—chiefly blacks, women, and to a limited extent Hispanics—aobut evil white males, whom they want to evict from practically everywhere. The crusade is always described as moral. The pattern is to discover that, say, an engineering department consists almost entirely of white European males (WEMs). This is taken by everyone, including those who don't believe it but want to save their political hides, as prima facie evidence of discrimination.

Head-hunting lawyers pile on. The federal government threatens to cut off contracts. The firm hires whoever is thought to be suffering discrimination, and regards them as an operating cost.

The Chinese, Japanese, and Airbus hire the best available talent. Hmmm....

Now, while bashing WEMs is doubtless orgasmic for the vengeance-deficient, I suggest that it will be disastrous for the country. The bitter truth, obvious to Americans who read history—perhaps three Americans—is that WEMs have been responsible for practically everything that keeps us out of the Third World. Yes, I know. Those in the affirmative-action classes reading this will think I am engaging in obnoxious crowing, racism, male chauvinism, or something involving the word “deconstruction.” No. I am engaging in economic prediction.

Homework is racist

View Image
Racist cupcakes

Well, I guess if soil can be racist, why not homework?

How to deal with the rude K-12 achievement gap in Los Angeles? District officials have a new solution that should be pretty popular all-around.

Based on the theory that homework is more likely to be completed by kids with a secure home life and involved parents — aka, the white middle class — LAUSD is forcing teachers to cap homework at 10 percent of a student’s grade, beginning next month.

“The policy is intended to account for the myriad urban problems facing the district’s mostly low-income, minority population,” writes the Los Angeles Times today.

So, since the Los Angeles School District realizes that Black kids aren’t competing with White kids academically, their solution is to stop giving homework because such assignments are racist.

"In 1994, they took the idea of non-lethal warfare a notch up by doing one of the most revolutionary things any guerrilla army has ever done: IRA mortar teams dropped shells on the runways at Heathrow Airport, totally stopping air traffic… but the shells weren’t even designed to explode. Intentional duds. That’s amazing; I’ve never heard of anything like that. It shows how far they’d come by that stage, away from the simple Al Qaeda maximum-blood crap I bought into in that earlier article.

In contemporary urban guerrilla warfare, at least in Western Europe, killing civvies is counterproductive. What you want to do, what the IRA had mastered by the 1990s, was messing with the incredibly fragile and expensive networks that keep a huge city going. Interrupt them and you cost the enemy billions of dollars, and they don’t even have any gory corpses to shake in your faces.
...The real crunch came when Lloyd’s of London went under. Guess why. Yup, it was the hundreds of billions of dollars they’d paid out for every highrise and pane of glass that had to be replaced after those London bombs went off.
When Lloyds goes under thanks to a few hundred Irish Catholics, the lowest of the low in the UK pecking order, something’s gotta change. If this was a game show and Northern Ireland was the prize, “What would you pay?” would get an answer in the “Uh…two cents?” range. But the Brits were paying incredible amounts to keep the nasty little place a Protestant game preserve. The 1992 bomb alone caused 800 million pounds worth of damage to central London.
That’s about a billion and a half dollars. For what? Proving you’ve got a stiff upper lip?

....Nerf wins—low-casualty, high-cost performance-art style guerrilla bombings. And Al Qaeda style maximum-splatter is for hotheaded idiots who forget that the real job of a guerrilla force is to stay in existence, lean on the enemy, wear him out and bankrupt him."
I would highly encourage your to think about this, and what it means. In our current worldwide economic situation, entire nations are balancing on crystal rods, supported by eggshells.

Senate Gives in to Major GOA Demands on Cover-up Protection Act

==========================================

Gun Owners of America

Thanks for helping put the heat on Congress and for signing up new GOA members!

On Wednesday, the Senate unanimously stripped the Cover-Up Protection Act (S. 679) of provisions which would take the jobs of officials like Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich and exempt them and their successors from Senate confirmation.

You may remember that Weich was the cover-up specialist who testified before Congress two weeks ago, doing his best to dodge and deflect any questions relating to the disastrous Operation Fast and Furious.

The Senate also voted to reinstate the requirement for Senate confirmation of Weich's Legislative Affairs counterparts in all of the other cabinet departments as well.
This is an enormous victory for the members and friends of Gun Owners of America, who fought this battle with very little help from other organizations.

Having said this, the bill still has gun-related problems: It would continue to exempt the head of the Bureau of Justice Statistics from the requirement that he be confirmed by the Senate. This is particularly important to gun owners because the Bureau of Justice Statistics has, in the past, highlighted the use of guns by law-abiding Americans for self-defense.

But if its director became a political hack, appointed by the president without Senate confirmation, as S. 679 would provide, it could rapidly become an engine for politically correct anti-gun “junk science.”

For this reason, Gun Owners of America opposed final passage of S. 679, which passed by a vote of 79-to-20. The Senators who voted correctly are: Ayotte, Boozman, Burr, Chambliss, Coburn, Coats, Crapo, DeMint, Grassley, Hatch, Heller, Inhofe, Isakson, Johnson, Lee, Moran, Paul, Reich, Rubio and Vitter.

The battle now shifts to the House.

We have every reason to believe that House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa can be convinced to ensure that the bill never sees the light of day in the House.

House Dems Set to Demonize Gun Owners with Gunwalker Forum

Via Sipsey Street Irregulars

The Committee on House Oversight and Government Reform will be having a forum today on the “Gunwalker” scandal almost guaranteed to fill any observer with disgust. It will be a markedly different than the previous hearings on the scandal chaired by Rep. Darrell Issa.

The hearings two weeks ago saw Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agents testify about their role in Operation Fast and Furious, the multi-agency scheme that allowed gun smugglers to arm Mexican drug cartels with 2,000 or more weapons as federal law enforcement officers watched. Issa’s hearings included evidence of damning emails that showed acting ATF chief Kenneth Melson to be intimately familiar with the program, which has been blamed for the deaths of two U.S. federal agents and more than 150 Mexican police and soldiers.

The ATF’s parent agency, the Department of Justice (DOJ); the Department of Homeland Security (DHS); and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) were all directly involved in the operation, which could not even have occurred without State Department approval.

But the committee forum today isn’t about what Obama administration officials in the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security knew, or when they knew it, or about bringing those responsible for the dangerous plot to light to face accountability or possible criminal charges.

Instead, the minority forum by Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings will be a forum for gun control activists such as Brady Campaign President Paul Helmke.

In an article at the Huffington Post, Helmke lays out the goals of the minority committee forum in no uncertain terms:

If California Rep. Darrell Issa and other congressional members who are in lock-step with the NRA bosses want to get to the bottom of the ATF gun trafficking operation, they need to start looking at their own actions and lack of action. By blocking and loosening laws to prevent gun violence they, too, are culpable in ATF’s “Fast and Furious” apparent debacle.

The gun control advocate very clearly indicates that seeking out those responsible for signing off on this reprehensible and possibly criminal operation is not the purpose of his appearance at the Democrat-led meeting.

Helmke instead seeks to shift the blame for the government’s deadly decisions onto the National Rifle Association (NRA), American gun owners, and the Republican and Democratic lawmakers who will not pass the laundry list of anti-gun legislation that has long been on the Brady Foundation’s list of legislative priorities.

Cops Just Love Those Tasers

Dayton police "mistook" a mentally handicapped teenager's speech impediment for "disrespect," so they Tasered, pepper-sprayed and beat him and called for backup from "upward of 20 police officers" after the boy rode his bicycle home to ask his mother for help, the boy's mom says.

Pamela Ford says her "mentally challenged/handicapped" son Jesse Kersey, 17, was riding his bike near his Dayton home when Officer Willie Hooper stopped him and tried to talk to him.

The mom says that "Prior to the incident described below, defendant Hooper knew Jesse and was aware that Jesse was mentally challenged/handicapped and a minor child."

Nonetheless, Ford says, Hooper "apparently took Jesse's speech impediment for disrespect ... [and] began yelling at Jesse and after Jesse attempted to communicate with him[.] Jesse, being a minor and mentally challenged/handicapped, turned and rode his bike back to his home in an attempt to ask his mother, Ford, to help him communicate with defendant Cooper," according to the complaint in Montgomery County Court.

On the way, the mom says, "A neighbor attempted to communicate with Officer Hooper about Jesse's disabilities and was told to go back into his home, or he would be arrested."

As Ford opened her front door, she says, Hooper and co-defendant Officer John Howard, "fired their Tasers, striking Jesse in the back with both probes."

"Once inside the house, defendant Hooper and defendant Howard began to struggle with Jesse, who was standing against the back door with his hands up in front of his face, saying 'Please quit, please quit.'

Garner police cite man for breaking gun law after shooting at prowlers

Garner home break-in
Garner Police

The mayor, police chief and town manager of Garner were planning to meet Thursday afternoon to discuss a Wednesday incident where a citizen fired a shotgun at suspects apparently trying to break into a neighbor's home.

Garner Police cited Perry Whitaker, 26, of Nellane Drive for violating the town's gun ordinance for firing his shotgun.

Garner police said Whitaker told them he was threatened by two suspects after he spotted them trying to get into a foreclosed home across the street from his own.

After Whitaker fired his shotgun at them, the two suspects jumped into a vehicle and drove off, according to police.

A cheery facade, but on the backside Jacques and Marcelle Dupuis have begun dismantling every board and nail of their home.

In Llano, in the Middle of the Southern California high Desert, a bewhiskered Jacques Dupuis stands in Front of What WAS HIS Once home. His laid-back second wife, Marcelle, her long, silver hair blowing in the breeze, takes a drag on her Marlboro Red as they walk inside and, in thick French Canadian accents, recount the day in 2007 when the government came calling. "That's the seat I have to offer you," she tells a visitor, motioning to the exposed, dusty wooden floor planks in what was once a cozy cabin where Jacques spent much of his life, raising his daughter with his first wife.

On Oct. 17, 2007, Marcelle opened the door to a loud knock. Her heart jumped when she found a man backed by two armed county agents in bulletproof vests. She WAS alone in the cabin, a dot in the VAST Open space of the Antelope Valley , Without a neighbor for More Than Half a Mile. That she feared something HAD Happened to Her daughter, WHO WAS Visiting from Montreal .

The men demanded her driver's license, telling her, "This building is not permitted - everything must go." Normally sassy, Marcelle handed over her ID - even her green card, just in case. Stepping out, she realized that her 1,000-square-foot cabin was surrounded by men with drawn guns. "You have no right to be here," one informed her. Baffled and shaking with fear, she called her daughter - please come right away.

As her ordeal wore on, she heard one agent, looking inside their comfortable cabin, say to another: "This one's a real shame - this is a real nice one."

A "shame" because the authorities eventually would enact some of the most powerful rules imaginable against rural residents: the order to bring the home up to current codes or dismantle the 26-year-old cabin, leaving only bare ground.

"They wouldn't let me grandfather in the water tank," Jacques Dupuis says. "It is so heart-wrenching because there was a way to salvage this, but they wouldn't work with me. It was, 'Tear it down. Period.' "

White House Fraud and Deception: DOD Inspector General Unmasks Military Study

http://www.eransworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Obama-Fraud.jpg

Mike Scruggs

The Department of Defense Inspector General has charged that the White House study evaluating the impact of open homosexuality on the military was a fraud and that the conclusions used to convince Congress that there would be no serious damage done to military preparedness were false.

It should not come as a surprise by now that the Obama Administration would engage in deception to pass legislation harmful to national security, the healthcare of most Americans, and the economy. President Obama and his close allies in Congress have consistently placed radical social change and socialist ideology far above national security, fiscal responsibility, and traditional American values. On healthcare, immigration, military preparedness, foreign policy, and other issues, the President seems to have little regard for truth. Early in the Senate hearings on repealing DADT (Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell), Senator Jeff Sessions (R, AL) accused the President’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mullen, of preordaining the results to suit the President’s wishes.

The White House promised the military that a survey of 400,000 military personnel would be taken seriously. However, the conclusions of the study were written and shown to a “former news anchor” three days before any troops were even surveyed. The survey questions were also slanted to get the results the President wanted to show. Many critical issues were ignored, as were previous data and conclusions from the 1993 DADT study. Unfortunately for the Obama Administration, the 2010 report was also leaked to Elaine Donnelly, President of the Center for Military Readiness (CMR).

Using the same data, the CMR showed that the White House’s conclusions were contrary to what factual data had been collected. Moreover, the study did not even address many substantial problems that senior military officers believe might seriously degrade U.S. military morale, preparedness, and combat effectiveness. For example, no consideration was given to differences between combat operations and support operations. The fact that the CMR did not have access to the report except by leak ought also to ring some alarm bells about the administration’s openness

As I pointed out last week, much of the Obama Team’s persuasion was based on iffy anecdotal stories rather than solid statistics and analysis. In addition, White House spokespersons have tried to make military service a civil right trumping military effectiveness. This wild-liberal type of thinking could seriously jeopardize not only military effectiveness, but also the lives of thousands of soldiers, sailors, and airmen, and the freedom and safety of millions of American civilians. No one has a right to be a soldier, Marine, or pilot, any more than they have to be starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.

According to World Net Daily, the Obama Administration deliberately leaked a false statistic to put Congress in a favorable mood to repeal DADT. The leak was that 70 percent of military personnel were either favorable or neutral to open homosexuality in the military. The CMR showed that the data actually indicated that 82 percent of military personnel considered the proposed changes to be negative or neutral. This would indicate that no more than 18 percent of military personnel are actually favorable to open homosexuality in the military.

Thinking people should also note the analytically incompetent and deceptive bunching of positive and negative opinions with neutral opinions. In addition, many military personnel felt pressured not to be negative on the change.

Just before passage of the DADT repeal, the Obama Administration sent in a high ranking black Army general to lecture and intimidate field grade officers and high ranking NCOs into going along with the change, indicating compliant thinking would be necessary for a successful career. His message was that allowing openly gay and lesbian lifestyles in the military was comparable to the civil rights movement of the 1960s. At least one courageous black senior NCO protested this comparison during one of the general’s lectures. Most others, however, listened in resentful or intimidated silence. The new rules will have zero tolerance penalties for discrimination against LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered) personnel.

The 1993 DADT study brought up several important considerations that were not addressed by the 2010 study.

  • Given the high cost of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases associated with homosexual lifestyles, what would be the fiscal impact on military healthcare and the Veterans Administration?
  • What would be the cost of additional litigation by homosexual activists?
  • What would be the moral impact on chaplains and others with strong traditional moral and religious convictions? Would it discourage traditional-minded Christians from serving in the military?
  • What costs would be necessary to prevent unwanted sexual advances?
  • Will strict compliance to politically correct acceptance and enforcement of homosexual “civil rights” devastate heterosexual recruitment and retention? Independent polls, including Zogby, indicate that this will be a sizable problem.

The Obama Administration and homosexual activist groups have made much of favorable public opinion polls of adults—not necessarily voters or even citizens. However, basing critical military decisions on polling people who have no military

experience ought to be seen for what it is—stupid and dangerous.

The Obama Administration and supporting homosexual activist groups have proudly pointed to 25 nations that allow open homosexuality in their military. The armies of most of these nations, however, rely on the United States for their defense, and could not stand up to the Chinese, Russians, or Iranians for 48 hours on their own. Every citizen is required to do military service in Israel, and the Germans, French, and British have encountered significant problems.

President Obama is destroying our military capability and effectiveness. Once lost, they will not be easy to fix.
