Becoming Machines Without Memory

Jefferson Davis: His Rise and Fall: A Biographical Narrative ...

After his victory at Second Manassas, Gen. Robert E. Lee fought McClellan once again at Sharpsburg with Stonewall Jackson at his side, “which in some respects was the greatest feat of Southern arms.

Again, Lee fought a perfect battle, and with 39,000 men defeated every attack of 87,000.”

One of Lee’s contemporaries later eulogized him: “Students looking for an example . . . will find in the life of Lee an inspiration to noble living and high endeavor such is nowhere else found . . . [He was] a man whose strength was the might of gentleness and self-command.”

Pompeo: ‘Enormous Evidence’ Coronavirus Originated in Wuhan Lab

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week”  Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said there was “enormous evidence” that coronavirus originated in the Wuhan lab and not a wet market, as some have suspected.

Partial transcript as follows:
RADDATZ: I want to turn to China, with intelligence officials, as we mentioned, saying that the Chinese government intentionally concealed the severity of COVID-19 from the international community in early January, while it stockpiled medical supplies.

In terms of international concealing, I assume you think they did that intentionally to keep as many masks for themselves as possible. Will there be some sort of retaliation?

chart says that as of May 1, 2020, total #COVID19 deaths are 37,308 (delayed due to reporting issues). Why is @JohnsHopkinsSPH number 65,068 today? Truly, I don't know. Note, too, that CDC says total deaths is 97% of expected, i.e. less than expected. Death rate of 0.3%?

Nobel prize-winning scientist: the Covid-19 epidemic was never exponential

Via Beth

As he is careful to point out, Professor Michael Levitt is not an epidemiologist. He’s Professor of Structural Biology at the Stanford School of Medicine, and winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for “the development of multiscale models for complex chemical systems.” He’s a numbers guy — as he told us in our interview, his wife says he loves numbers more than her — but then, much of modern science is really about statistics (as his detractors never tire of pointing out, Professor Neil Ferguson is a theoretical physicist by training).

With a purely statistical perspective, he has been playing close attention to the Covid-19 pandemic since January, when most of us were not even aware of it. He first spoke out in early February, when through analysing the numbers of cases and deaths in Hubei province he predicted with remarkable accuracy that the epidemic in that province would top out at around 3,250 deaths.

South Dakota Governor Refused To Implement Stay-At-Home Orders. Her Citizens Throw Her A Parade.

U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem (R-SD) speaks during a news briefing after a House Republican Conference meeting January 14, 2014 on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, who has decided to buck the trends around the country and refuse to implement stay-at-home orders in her state, prompted some of her grateful citizens to surprise her with something: a parade.

The parade included numerous vehicles including firetrucks blaring emergency sirens, a pickup hauling a stock trailer, a concrete truck, and even construction equipment, as The Blaze noted.

Noem tweeted, “I am so blessed to serve the people of the great State of South Dakota. You folks made my day!”

AMERICAN REVOLUTION: From CA To NY, SHUTDOWN UNREST, Thousands Across Nation Turn Out For Lockdown Protests

Via Cousin John

The American people are fighting back. They are fed up of the tyrannical Democrats, and rightfully so. They want their freedom back. They want their jobs back. They want their livelihoods back. However, protests are not good enough. The Democrats must pay a big price for this house arrest at the ballot box in November. Their is simply no other choice. #GOP2020! #Freedom!
