Saigon April 30, 2017

My trusty 10 year old LX5 got to the point of not being feasible to repair, so I gave it to one of the hotel staff.  Purchased  a ZS100 which enables 250 zoom shots and will be much better  as I like candid and ocean ones, so many pictures below are from my cell phone. :(

Buddhist symbol.

Reel repair time. :)
Looking across at the boy below who took the picture.

Quite good and only 18 calories. Love the soup.

5 cents.

I splurged and bought my most expensive street food, so far at $1.50. (Two meals for me) It was about the best I have ever eaten. I don't relate to the amount being cheap back home, but expensive here.

Alabama House passes monument preservation bill after heated debate

Via Bill

After a prolonged and heated debate, the Alabama House voted Thursday to pass a bill that makes it tougher to remove monuments and historically significant structures from public property.

The Alabama Memorial Preservation Act would make the removal of any monuments on public land subject to approval by the Committee on Alabama Monument Protection, a body that the bill would create. The bill passed the House by a vote of 72-29 after nearly three hours of debate.

Advanced Talks Underway For New Conservative Network Amid Fears Fox News Moving Too Far Left

Via Billy

Fox_News-2.svg_

On the heels of major shakeups at the Fox News Network, an alternative conservative network is being actively discussed amongst conservative fat cats.

A well-placed source close to the proposal tells Mediaite that serious discussions are underway to create an alternative conservative cable network on the belief that the Fox News Network is moving too far to the left. The source, who is engaged in the talks, says a meeting is planned for today with two prominent high-powered television executives, some underperforming conservative networks and people who have an interest and the ability to fund a new network.

President Donald Trump on Friday said he would name one of the most prominent anti-abortion activists in the country to a top communications post at HHS.

Charmaine Yoest, tapped to be assistant secretary of public affairs, is a senior fellow at American Values. She is the former president of Americans United for Life, which has been instrumental in advancing anti-abortion legislation at the state level to restrict access to the procedure.

Video: Public HS Admin Curses Out Pro-Life Teens: ‘I Don’t Give A F*** What You Think Jesus Tells Me!'

Via Billy

In a disturbing video now posted on YouTube, two pro-life teens can be seen being targeted and harassed by a public high school assistant principal from Downingtown, Pennsylvania on April 21.

The teens, 16-year-old Conner Haines and his 19-year-old sister Lauren, triggered the boastfully gay administrator by holding up pro-life signs on public property, which is perfectly within their rights.

(This is America, not North Korea.) The unraveling official, Zach Ruff, who serves as STEM Academy's dean of academics and student life, cursed out the Haines teens, threatened to call the police on them and even sang loudly over the activists as a small child would when annoyed by a sibling.

The video clip opens with an already visibly irate Ruff confronting the teens, telling them not to "harass" his "children" by holding up their pro-life signs, threatening to call the police on them.

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu cannot stomach the sight of Robert E. Lee in his city.  So one of the city’s most famous landmarks, the statue in Lee Circle in downtown New Orleans, will soon be toppled.

Mayor Landrieu refers to the towering Lee statue as an “aberration.” Historic statues of Jefferson Davis and Confederate General PGT Beauregard are also slated for imminent disgrace and demolition.

Mayor Landrieu first gave vent to his anti-Confederate-monument fetish back in 2015, declaring the monuments “public nuisances” which necessitated prompt removal.  The majority black city-council voted 6-to-1 in his favor for removal.  (Meanwhile the city’s murder rate soared past Chicago’s and potholes dating from Hurricane Katrina still cratered many city streets.)

Initially lawsuits by historic preservation groups held up the avenging cranes, bulldozers and jackhammers. But the legal path has been cleared and soon the hydraulic engines will roar into action against these intolerable and downright dangerous “public nuisances.

Mr. Trump, about that wall... Congress is not going to pay for it, but the people will: Wayne Allyn Root, Obama's Classmate

Image result for Mr. Trump, about that wall... Congress is not going to pay for it, but the people wil:l Wayne Allyn Root: Obama's Classmate?

I have a message for President Trump. Congress will never pay to build the wall.

Democrats will never fund the wall. They no longer care about either America, or middle class Americans, or American workers. They couldn’t care less about heroin, or cocaine, or a myriad of other deadly drugs flooding our nation, killing our children.

They couldn’t care less about Kate Steinle or Sarah Root, two beautiful, precious young American women killed by illegal aliens.

They couldn’t care less about $20 trillion in debt, fueled by massive government giveaways to millions of illegals flooding our country.  We are bleeding and going bankrupt.

Our streets are flooded with drugs. Our public schools have been ruined. Our healthcare system is overwhelmed. In California, dams are ready to burst, threatening millions of citizens. Our infrastructure is in decay and disrepair from coast to coast. Democrats don’t care. They desperately need the votes of illegals and their supporters.

Establishment Republicans will never fund the wall. Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and their ilk are world class cowards, afraid of their own shadows. Afraid of being called “racist.” Afraid of losing Latino votes. Afraid of losing contributions from greedy billion-dollar multi-national corporations and corrupt lobbyists- all desperately wanting cheap labor.

The biased liberal media will never allow you to fund the wall.

Mexico will never voluntarily fund the wall. They want the drugs to keep flowing. Their government is bought and paid for by drug dealers and human traffickers.

But you can get it funded Mr. President. I have the game plan.

Go over all their heads.

NC: Confederate 'mega flag' turning heads along I-95 near Fayetteville

As part of its "Flags Across the Carolinas" project, the North Carolina Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans has unveiled a massive confederate flag along Interstate 95 in Cumberland County.

Meet the 3rd generation Politically correct Croat who has much reverence for his own ethnic past but wants to tear ours down. He has no Confederate roots so our history doesn't matter to him just like Nikki Haley who is a second generation Indian Sikh (family only came here in the 1960s) and whom has great reverence for her Sikh ancestry, but none for our Confederate heritage. We have a great leadership crisis in Dixie as so many of our politicians are not of real Southern blood!!

As part of its "Flags Across the Carolinas" project, the North Carolina Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans has unveiled a massive confederate flag along Interstate 95 in Cumberland County.

The 20-by-30-foot flag, which is on a pole about 90 feet in the air, sits just off the southbound lanes of the highway between mile marker 63 and 64 near Godwin.

Drivers passing the location have honked their horns and stopped to take pictures since it went up on Wednesday.

Josh Hagge was one of the drivers who stopped. He says he's happy to see it.

"It shows people that this is the South. It's a symbol for the South. It's not hatred," Hagge said. "People think it is, but it's not, really.

The Nabob as Antifederalist: Benjamin Harrison of Virginia

Benjamin Harrison the Signer was born at Berkely (later called Harrison’s Landing) in Charles City County, Virginia. He was the son of Benjamin Harrison and Anne Carter Harrison, daughter of Robert ‘King’ Carter of Corotoman. After education at the College of William and Mary this Benjamin in 1749 became the fifth in a line of planter/politicians of the same name to sit in and stolen slaves were returned or replaced. And when an excise was proposed in place of the Impost he fought against it as a Yankee plot, and brought to bear upon the struggle all of his resources.

"Raise the red flag and sound the alarm" - Ivanka Trump’s uncomfortable embrace of refugees

DAY 95 - In this April 24, 2017, file photo, President Donald Trump, accompanied by his daughter Ivanka Trump, talks via video conference with International Space Station Commander Peggy Whitson on the International Space Station from the Oval Office of the White House in Washington. (AP Photo/Susan Walsh, file)

Ivanka Trump, already under growing fire from some in the conservative camps who think she’s exerting too much influence over dad Donald, is now calling for the White House to open doors to Syrian refugees.

Conservatives and border control advocates are quite right to be concerned.

Ivanka’s soft stance on refugees would seem a direct conflict with President Donald Trump’s campaign promises to crack down on borders — and particularly, on the entrance of refugees from terror-tied nations who could prove a national security danger to American citizens.

The famous first daughter said in an interview with MSNBC just recently: “I think there is a global humanitarian crisis that’s happening and we have to come together and we have to solve it.”
So does that mean open U.S. doors to refugees, Ivanka?

“That has to be part of the discussion,” she said. “But that’s not going to be enough in and or itself.”

Professor, Joe Borelli: Appalled that CUNY teaching anti-Trump propaganda

As a CUNY Prof and vocal supporter of public higher education, I am appalled that the CUNY teachers union, the PSC, instructed members use student-paid and taxpayer-subsidized classroom time to teach anti-trump and anti-trump supporter propaganda. I happen to teach political science, but this was told to all teachers, from physics to french. Imagine paying to learn math and getting 30 minutes of the professor's personal opinions on politics.

Here (above) is a picture of the email blast that was sent out, a copy of one of the starkly unacademic items on the "reading list" which claims Trump is worse than Hitler. (Another claimed his supporters were "armed racists") and my letter to the CUNY chancellor demanding clarification of whether it meets policy.

Guess what I did last night? I taught the lesson and used it as a teachable moment to talk about discourse. Frankly speaking, my best students are those who are liberal, informed and unafraid to come at me and challenge what I am saying as a conservative. They usually get the highest grades because of their involvement in the lessons. Diversity of thought should work two ways. Someone should tell CUNY. I know I am trying to.

I know some of my students follow me, perhaps they can chime in on our debates.

Feel free to share and tag CUNY,

Another Mississippi City Lowers Confederate-Themed Flag

Just as I suspected FoFo is another Nikki Haley with reverence for his own Croation culture, but no ties to our honorable Southern culture and he could care less about ours but wants to remember his!

This is no Southern turn coat for his family has only been here for 3 generations so they have no ties to our Confederate past! Instead he is a misinformed, politically correct ladder climbing millionaire politician who has fallen for the race baiter's bait!

Just like Nikki Haley-------Thank God, Trump moved her bigoted ass out of Dixie! However there is no excuse for Benedict Arnold Bentley, as shamefully, his Southern roots go deep, all the way back to Confederate ancestors!

Disgustedly yours,

House Democrats bury 2016 autopsy

House Democrats are going to extreme lengths to conceal a report on the party’s problems.

After nearly five months, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-N.Y.) presented his investigative report to lawmakers during a members-only gathering at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee headquarters Thursday night.

Only about two-dozen lawmakers showed up for the presentation, which sources described as "dense but thorough." But members were not allowed to have copies of the report and may view it only under the watchful eyes of DCCC staff.

The presentation didn't focus on Democratic messaging and instead was heavily skewed towards money -- how much the DCCC brings in, from where and how those funds are spent.

U.S. spy agency abandons controversial surveillance technique

The U.S. National Security Agency said on Friday it had stopped a form of surveillance that allowed it to collect without a warrant the digital communications of Americans who mentioned a foreign intelligence target in their messages, marking an unexpected triumph for privacy advocates long critical of the practice.

The decision to stop the once-secret activity, which involved messages sent to or received from people believed to be living overseas, came despite the insistence of U.S. officials in recent years that it was both lawful and vital to national security.

The halt is among the most substantial changes to U.S. surveillance policy in years and comes as digital privacy remains a contentious issue across the globe following the 2013 disclosures of broad NSA spying activity by former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden.

Image result for Court delivers Trump victory on climate rule

A federal appeals court gave the Trump administration a major victory Friday by placing a case on hold regarding former President Barack Obama's landmark climate change regulation.

The decision means the court will not issue a ruling before the Trump administration has time to propose repealing the Clean Power Plan, the centerpiece of Obama's climate agenda.

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals had been reviewing the case since the fall. The hold on the case gives the Environmental Protection Agency time to conduct a review that ultimately will lead to the repeal of the Clean Power Plan.

In response to Berkeley, Rep. Sean Duffy asks Betsy DeVos to take action on taxpayer-funded campuses

Via Billy

On the heels of Ann Coulter's canceled lecture at the University of California, Berkeley, Congressman Sean Duffy, R-Wis., is asking Education Secretary Betsy DeVos for a list of actions her department can take to address the problems caused by recent free speech controversies on taxpayer-funded college campuses.

In a new letter sent from Duffy to DeVos on Friday morning, a copy of which was obtained by the Washington Examiner, the Wisconsin Republican says he is "deeply concerned" by UC Berkeley's decision to "suppress free speech" by canceling Coulter's lecture.

"If university officials feel that it is their priority to keep students safe," Duffy wrote, "they should do so by addressing the culture of violence that accompanies these lawless riots, not by suppressing the constitutional rights of everyday American citizens."

"By canceling the original event," he continued, "UC Berkeley has sent a clear and disturbing message to protesters everywhere: continue the violence and you will win."

German Paper: US Media Got It Wrong, Ivanka Wasn’t Booed

Via Billy

MICHAEL SOHN/AFP/Getty Images

US media reports that Ivanka Trump was booed in Germany are false, according to German paper Bild.

“Many people were surprised by Ivanka Trump’s performance in Berlin. Contrary to the stereotype, the daughter of the US President made a sophisticated and level-headed impression at the panel discussion with Chancellor Angela Merkel, Queen MĆ”xima of the Netherlands, and head of the IMF, Christine Lagarde. The glamorous White House ambassador also cleverly handled a controversial issue,” the paper reports.

“US media, however, are focusing on something else: they claim that Ivanka was booed and sneered at.”

President Trump signed an executive order Friday that could lead to the expansion of drilling in the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, saying it will reverse his predecessor's Arctic leasing ban and create "great jobs and great wealth" for the country.

Trump said the executive order, titled "Implementing an America-First Offshore Energy Strategy," will direct a "review of the locations available for off-shore oil and gas exploration" and related regulations.

"Today we're unleashing American energy and clearing the way for thousands and thousands of high-paying American energy jobs," Trump said in his announcement.

Trump to Decide on Release of 3,600 Secret Documents on JFK Assassination

Image result for Trump to Decide on Release of 3,600 Secret Documents on JFK Assassination

 My recollections.

President Donald Trump has several months to determine whether or not he will release more secret government files pertaining to the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

The irony that Trump claimed that the father of Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) had a hand in the assassination of JFK makes this decision even more anticipated.
