Welcome to the age of vanity politics and campaigns-for-hire. What would our founders make of this nightmare?

Four qualities have distinguished republican government from ancient Athens forward:
the sovereignty of the people; a sense of the common good; government dedicated to the commonwealth; and resistance to corruption. Measured against the standards established for republics from ancient times, the American Republic is massively corrupt.

From Plato and Aristotle forward, corruption was meant to describe actions and decisions that put a narrow, special, or personal interest ahead of the interest of the public or commonwealth. Corruption did not have to stoop to money under the table, vote buying, or even renting out the Lincoln bedroom. In the governing of a republic, corruption was self-interest placed above the interest of all—the public interest.

By that standard, can anyone seriously doubt that our republic, our government, is corrupt?

What happens when two opposing cultures meet up, one based on permissive Western values and the other on repressive Islamic doctrine?

If the latest news out of Germany is any indication, the latter wins.

Earlier this month, 200 Syrian refugees arrived in Pocking, Bavaria, and the local school system set up an emergency shelter right next to the gym of Wilhelm-Diess-Gymnasium,

Die Welt reports.
The gym has been closed, and physical-education lessons have been relocated to a nearby primary school, but the school is still worried about the refugees interacting with students, reports the Local, an English-language newspaper in Germany.

So worried were school officials that they sent a letter home to parents warning them not to let their daughters wear low-cut blouses or short skirts, because emergency accommodation for refugees has been set up next to the gym.

The headteacher’s letter tried to reassure parents about extra security measures being put in place.

“For the refugees, access to the school gardens and buildings is strictly forbidden. The same goes for the school grounds during the day. The number of teachers on duty during breaks has been increased,” stated the letter from headteacher Martin Thalhammer.

The letter continued with instructions for students:

Burn the American Flags

The Flag Uproar: "Where Will It End?"

From Redwood City, Ca. (Where I used to drive a cab)

Dear Sir,

I am an American that lives in one of the most hated states in the union, California. I have been coming to your site off and on for some time now. The first time was when I bookmarked your post "Some thoughts about defending your retreat" from April 11, 2011. I believe I had followed a link from another website to find yours.

Personally I have always, since my early twenties (now 45), had a problem with the principles of freedom and liberty not being promoted in our country. Your site allows me to expand further on many things related to the subject and to Southern history and culture as well. This is a subject I have taken an interest in. Once I figured out the war was a war of Northern aggression and succession was a moral choice between two opposing people and their culture and force can only be used in defense morally I was changed about how I view the South and its attempts to succeed.

If I may tell you about my experience today. A day that got my blood pressure up a bit.
Since I have been troubled by the recent events, with the Confederate Battle Flag and all the things associated with it I decided to call my local flag shop. It is called Judy's Flag Shop in the next city and about 5-7 years ago I bought a Confederate Battle Flag sticker and a 3'X4' Bonnie Blue Flag. There was quite a lot of other Southern flags as well, stickers and pins etc. It was well before the current purge of history that we are seeing now.

Well this morning, not more than an hour ago I called this business. I planned on asking for "historical flags from the civil war...". When I asked I was immediately answered with "No we don't" and "that I took them off the shelf because of all the controversy." I asked why she did that. I was told because she wasn't "political". I asked if she had some in the back. Nope, not going to sell them. So after telling her she would not be getting my business again, which she probably wants since I am obviously a crazed extremist, I hung up.

The reason I wanted to obtain a flag was because I decided to make a flag pole for my truck. A Toyota Tacoma that was designed in Japan, it's parts made in Mexico and the rest assembled here by a multicultural diverse group of people who could be from anywhere in a city just about 40 minutes from here. I was thinking that instead of being low key with the Bonnie Blue that I would be a little louder in my opinion of the current state of the union and fly the most loved and hated symbol, currently speaking. Well I guess I will be going online or using my old license plate that I used to have on my truck which is a great, deeply rich in color, battle flag.

I drove around with that thing on the front of my "foreign" truck for a good 18-24 months. I never got assaulted, yelled at, vandalized or fired from my job( a union job even).

Sir, I am sorry. Sorry for all this insanity. I can only imagine what Southern people must go though seeing this behavior. I am so disgusted that I was trying to symbolize the seriousness of the situation by putting the Confederate Battle Flag with the Star of David with Jude in the center of it. I wrote "Where Will It End?" on it. I posted it on my Facebook page as my profile picture. I don't usually, as of late, do Facebook but under the circumstances I am spreading my disgust at the total "nazification" of Amerika.

I would like to ask you as a Southern American if this is offensive to you or would it be understood now with the climate the way it is?

I may have to make one to say what I think this country is and I'll have to wonder "who" is going to run the train cars in a decade.

Sir I am in the Bay Area. This place is communism central. You have a small faction of fascists around too. During Ron Paul's attempt at the Presidency I saw a good handful of freedom lovers I guess but unfortunately the majority, in my opinion, are so uninformed, uneducated and lacking in any moral compass and principles(even caring) that I am very concerned that this situation will escalate with more vandalism and violence. Death may occur somewhere when opposing opinions collide in the most undesirable way.

If I can give you another personal example, If I am not taking your time, I have a daughter. She is 3 and I take part in a co-op. Every year there is a different teacher. One for toddlers, 2's, 3's and pre-kindergarten. Well to my horror the 3's teacher thinks it is necessary to praise Lincoln and Rev King to a bunch of 3 year olds who have no idea or conceptual mind to critically think about these two subjects. I even tried to bring in Booker T. Washington's book Up From Slavery for her continued education. I was hoping she would see the difference between a hand out and a hand up. Well too much to read I guess because the book was rejected overnight. I had even underlined some of the most individualistic lines for myself throughout for an easier return at another time. Still this was too much for a "teacher".

I will end it here Sir. I just wanted to write. I have thought about it for a few days since all these attempts at destroying American history and Southern culture have begun, again with more intensity. I hope the attacks on your history and culture end. May you have the greatest of opportunities and divine intervention.

WE ARE IN A WAR TO SAVE AMERICAN CULTURE And we don’t have much time.

I am certain I do not need to tell you that we are facing a crisis. In fact, we are facing the greatest threat to our heritage in modern times. The forces arrayed against us are formidable.

Their first declared goal is to remove the Confederate Battle flag which flies beside the Confederate Soldier’s monument in Columbia, South Carolina. It was put there in 2000 as part of a political compromise. But do not be fooled into thinking they will stop there. The radical leftists who are driving this crisis are committed to the complete eradication of all things Confederate.

I will not belabor the point with a long list of examples; suffice it to say that if it’s Confederate, they are after it. One liberal group is already cataloging every Confederate monument, street name, and memorial in America. If you have any doubts about the seriousness of this just turn on the news. And don’t think these folks will be satisfied with just Confederate memorials.

Many of these same ideologues have just as negative a view of our Revolutionary War heroes and the United States flag. Make no mistake, WE ARE IN A WAR TO SAVE AMERICAN CULTURE. I don’t know how else to say it and we don’t have much time. From what we know, the S.C. General Assembly will meet July 6 to vote on this issue, we must move quickly.

An international civil rights icon and former Atlanta mayor weighs in on the debate the entire country is talking about. FOX 5's Morse Diggs sat down with Ambassador Andrew Young to get his take on the Confederate flag and his answer might surprise you.

He said some people fighting against the flag are more worried about treating the symptoms than treating the illness. Also he is not advocating a tax on the flag.

The former two-term mayor suggested people focus more on the substance of the problems and issues of today and not on a symbol. He said a lesson should have been learned by what happened at the State Capitol. He said supporters of former Governor Roy Barnes won a big state battle but lost the State House.

Fort Sumter’s dominant U.S. flag will remain, but four historical flags have been taken down.

For more than 40 years, Fort Sumter has flown six flags, including four banners that flew overhead during the four years of America’s Civil War.

But the recent slayings of nine black parishioners during a Bible study inside the Emanuel AME Church prompted the fort to take down four of those flags, including two flags of the Confederacy, as a gesture of sympathy and sensitivity.

Response To: Some want debate over Confederate symbols in Augusta

 Via Carl

Dear Editors:

As a  retired veteran, Civil War re-enactor and member of the Augusta Civil War Round Table, I am saddened by the lack of knowledge regarding the inscription on the Confederate Monument in Augusta.  The line, " No nation rose so white and fair, none fell so pure of crime" was taken from a poem written by an English poet and author, Philip Stanhope Worsley, a Fellow of Corpus Christi College in Oxford, England.

Worsely was a friend of Gen. Robert E. Lee's nephew,  Edward Lee Childe of Paris, France, and  sent his book "A Translation of Homer's Iliad" to General Robert E. Lee, whom he greatly admired, in 1866 and wrote the poem in the fly leaf of the book comparing the fall of Troy in the Trojan War to the defeat of the South.

One stanza of the poem reads as follows:

Ah realm of tears--but let her bear
This blazon to the end of time:
No nation rose so white and fair,
None fell so pure of crime.

In none of these verses was the English scholar referring to race but he was using poetic license to compare the rise and defeat of the Confederate States to a flower which blooms and quickly fades.  Worsley obviously knew of Lee's sorrow and wrote the poem in an attempt to soothe and comfort the old soldier.

Obviously the women of the Ladies Memorial Association were aware of Worsley's tribute to Lee  and felt it was an appropriate verse to inscribe upon the memorial to Richmond County soldiers who died in the War Between the States.
The Confederate Monument on Broad is a monument to our fallen veterans--nothing more and nothing less.  Those who would criticize it should consider learning its history before doing so.
Dr. Arnold M. Huskins
Major, USAF, Retired

Is marred beneath the spoiler’s heel–
I cannot trust my trembling hand
To write the things I feel.

No nation rose so white and fair
None fell so pure of crime.

“The widow’s moan, the orphan’s wail,
Come round thee; but in truth be strong!
Eternal Right, though all else fail,
Can never be made Wrong.

Northern journalists depicted him as a degenerate, cold-blooded murderer, even as Southern Appalachia celebrated him as a hero. Texas Governor Abbott's Statement On Supreme Court Ruling On Same-Sex Marriage

Via comment by Anonymous on Alabama Supreme Court orders probate judges to sto...

Governor Greg Abbott today released the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s same-sex marriage ruling:

“The Supreme Court has abandoned its role as an impartial judicial arbiter and has become an unelected nine-member legislature. Five Justices on the Supreme Court have imposed on the entire country their personal views on an issue that the Constitution and the Court’s previous decisions reserve to the people of the States.

“Despite the Supreme Court’s rulings, Texans’ fundamental right to religious liberty remains protected. No Texan is required by the Supreme Court’s decision to act contrary to his or her religious beliefs regarding marriage.

“The Texas Constitution guarantees that ‘[n]o human authority ought, in any case whatsoever, to control or interfere with the rights of conscience in matters of religion.’ The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion; and the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act, combined with the newly enacted Pastor Protection Act, provide robust legal protections to Texans whose faith commands them to adhere to the traditional understanding of marriage.

“As I have done in the past, I will continue to defend the religious liberties of all Texans—including those whose conscience dictates that marriage is only the union of one man and one woman. Later today, I will be issuing a directive to state agencies instructing them to prioritize the protection of Texans’ religious liberties.”

Win the Fight!

Forget, Hell!

It's been a while since we've seen the Sparklie of Death.

Remember, a Sparklie is something that distracts you while something worse is happening that is genuinely dangerous.

In this particular case, what is happening is a nearly literal Sparklie of Death.

The Confederate Battle Flag is the brightest Sparklie at the moment.  It is not in the sky all by itself, however.  Right up there with it are the calls for revealing KKK member info, calls to take down the Jefferson Memorial, Illegals, ISIS, and much, much more.

Instead of fighting the removal of the Battle Flag from places you consider important, might I suggest that you hoist it, and run off the invaders?  Petitions to defend your culture - really?

Road Pirates -- Assemble! "Desert Snow" is Coming to Idaho

Via III Percent Patriots

Highway Robbery in Progress: Desert Snow-trained Iowa State Trooper Justin Simmons carries out a shakedown.
It isn’t often that honest people receive detailed intelligence about a planned gathering of violent men who steal for a living and kill with impunity. An event of that kind will occur from August 10-12th here in Idaho.

In fact, I can provide the specific address of the armed robbers’ summit -- 700 South Stratford Drive in Meridian. The location is conspicuously marked and easy to find:
It is the Idaho Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Academy, which will host a two-day session of Desert Snow’s “Phase 2015” asset forfeiture workshop
“Civil asset forfeiture,” for the mercifully uninitiated, is a procedure in which police officers and the agencies that employ them steal money and property from people who have never been convicted of a crime, and quite often never face criminal charges. The agency designates the desired property as “proceeds” of illicit activity and then files an “in rem” civil lawsuit against it – not the owner of the property, but the property itself. In this process, the burden of proof is placed on the victim, rather than the perpetrator.

On this slender thread does the promise of religious liberty hang. Justice Anthony Kennedy, in his majority opinion in Obergefell that declares same-sex marriage a constitutional right, barely mentions the means by which most Americans conduct their weddings — houses of worship. Only on page 27 does Kennedy get around to addressing the connection between church and state, and the assurances in this paragraph are less than compelling, to say the least:

These American presidents care much less about content of character than they do about melanin levels. Whether their obsession is how black Americans can help launch the Democrats into power, such as in the case of Lyndon B. Johnson; or if the disdain for the “other” is really just straight-up racism, such as in the case of Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the common thread – of progressivism – remains.

You cultural fascists have struck again.

You have shown you will say most anything, and do most anything to advance your radical agenda. But that’s not enough, is it? Your intent is to ban any opposition. Your goal is to ban even the expression of dissension.

You’re doing it everywhere. You are insisting scientists skeptical of global warming be banned from symposia discussing the subject. You shout down, even physically attack conservatives who dare express opinions on college campuses – that is, if you don’t succeed in banning them altogether.

You demand TV networks fire Christians who dare to quote Scripture publicly. You pressure advertisers to stop their sponsorship of conservative talk shows, inventing scandals to justify your campaigns. You pressure businesses to fire employee for supporting traditional marriage. You call on government to imprison Christians who will not abide by the gay agenda.

Now it’s the Confederate flag.

I don’t know what’s more offensive, your disgusting character assassination or the outright embarrassment  of politicians and businesses quaking in their shoes at the thought  they might be next on your hit list.

You Must Read Gettysburg Film Director Ron Maxwell’s Take on Erasing Confederate Symbols

  General Armistead's Final request

Today's utopians tread a dangerous path.

After the murders at Charleston’s Emanuel AME Church by a young white racist, a consensus has been reached on the issue of taking down the Confederate flag from South Carolina’s soldier’s monument, where it has flown since being removed from the state capitol in 2000.

The flag was flown from the capitol only since the early 1960s, when segregationists resurrected what was in fact the Confederate battle flag as their symbol for opposition to desegregation. Other states quickly followed South Carolina’s example.

Evidently, this may not be enough to satisfy the cultural enforcers on the American Left.
Suddenly, anything in our history that is somehow connected with the sin of slavery — and it was a sin against humanity — is fair game to be excised from America’s past. As John Hinderaker writes at Powerline, the Democrats are getting “their crazy on.” First it’s the Confederate flag, then statues, monuments, and our currency that celebrate racists, then perhaps the American flag itself.

Remember those leftists who after 9/11 refused to fly the flag, since they argued it stood for oppression?

Anonymous CSA Enters The Fray, Vows To Bring Justice To Anti-Southern Cultural Terrorists

An online persona, battling for the future of the Southern people, has decided to launch an offensive against those who are scheming to shatter the cultural identity of an entire ethnic group.

Calling himself/themselves “Anonymous CSA,” the plan calls for the exposure of individuals and groups that are leading the latest wave of Marxist terrorism via mainstream media, political pressure, and financial boycott.

This week’s target, who may be remembered by this site’s cherished readers, is a Mr. Patrick Hogan, a morbidly obese oxygen bandit whose goals include the identification and destruction of all remaining Confederate memorials, statues, and tombs throughout the United States.

While the video itself is downright hilarious, including still photos of Patrick’s rotund bulk clad within a furry animal costume of some sort, the topic underlying all remains serious to the utmost, and we must always keep this in the forefront of our minds.

Remember that traitors and invasive degenerates like Patrick Hogan represent an enemy that wishes to utterly demolish all that the Southern folk hold sacred. They cannot win, for without a cohesive identity and understanding of history, our progeny stand doomed to a life of brainwashing, manipulation, and suffering.

Voice your support by tweeting #OperationDixie on your accounts if you can.

The Real Reason for the Anti-Confederate Flag Hysteria

Every couple of years the totalitarian socialist Left in America (a.k.a., the Democratic Party and all of its appendages) pretends to be indignant about the existence of the Confederate flag somewhere.  The lapdog cultural Marxist media fall in line, treating the siting of the flag in the same way they would treat the siting of an Ebola victim in a large crowd.  Americans are reminded once again by the New York/New England/Ivy League-educated presstitute class that they should hate Southerners and all things Southern.  As Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart recently whined in faux horror, Southerners “waged war against the United States” government!  Waaaaaaaaah!

The anti-Confederate flag hysteria is only one small part of the Left’s general strategy, however.  It is part of their overriding strategy of diverting the public’s attention away from all the grotesque failures of leftist interventionism, from the welfare state to the government takeover of education to the war on drugs and beyond.  The neocons who run the Republican Party are usually complicit in all of this.

Federal Judge Orders Brady Center to Pay Ammo Dealer’s Legal Fees After Dismissing Lawsuit

Via avordvet

A federal judge has ordered that the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence pay the legal fees of an online ammunition dealer it sued for the Aurora movie theater shooting.

The order, which was issued last week, comes after Judge Richard P. Matsch dismissed the gun control group’s suit that sought to hold Lucky Gunner legally responsible for the 2012 shooting. The Brady Center had argued in their suit that the way Lucky Gunner sells ammunition is “unreasonably dangerous and create a public nuisance.”

“A crazed, homicidal killer should not be able to amass a military arsenal, without showing his face or answering a single question, with the simple click of a mouse,” Brady Center’s Legal Action Project Director Jonathan Lowy said at the time. “If businesses choose to sell military-grade equipment online, they must screen purchasers to prevent arming people like James Holmes.”

Judge Matsch disagreed with the Brady Center’s argument. He said the suit was filed for propaganda purposes.

The Supreme Court’s Marriage Decision: Communist Goal Realized

Via Billy

While I have written many articles on the topic of the 45 communist goals, it can't be stressed enough that achieving "marriage equality" for homosexuals was definitely one of them. The Supreme Court's decision on Friday, June 26 was no surprise to many of us, and in many ways it was used to continue the moral degradation of our society.

The Obama Administration, as surely we have all seen by now, took the pleasure of flaunting their victory by posting pictures of the White House lit up with the colors of the homosexual's rainbow flag. This was a "stick in your face gesture" as they know that the vast majority of Americans disapprove of the homosexual agenda, and there is an agenda.

This was also a symbolic gesture in the eyes of the left because they view this as the replacement of the old culture with a new one. It was no coincidence, in my opinion, that this redefining marriage decision happened at the same time there was all out war declared on the confederate flag. We are, after all, dealing with communists, whose entire agenda revolves around breaking down the moral standards by which many of us live our lives.

Firearms Numbers in the United States 1945 - 2012

Via avordvet

The data for these numbers has been gathered from two sources.  From 1945 to 1987, the data was taken from "Point Blank: Guns and Violence in America" by Gary Kleck, Table 2.1.   The methodology used by Kleck was applied to  the figures obtained from the ATF for later years.  The number shown is the cumulative addition of domestic manufacture plus imports minus exports.  This does not count guns shipped to the U.S. military.   The figures are rounded to the nearest million.
