California College Forbids Passing Out Constitutions….....On Constitution Day

Via Knuckledraggin' My Life Away

In a stunning illustration of the attitude taken towards free speech by too many colleges across the United States, Modesto Junior College in California told a student that he could not pass out copies of the United States Constitution outside the student center on September 17, 2013—Constitution Day.

Captured on video, college police and administrators demanded that Robert Van Tuinen stop passing out Constitution pamphlets and told him that he would only be allowed to pass them out in the college’s tiny free speech zone, and only after scheduling it several days or weeks ahead of time. The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) has written to Modesto, demanding that the college rescind this policy immediately.

GOA: Defund ObamaCare. Your efforts against this anti-gun law are paying off!

“To continue funding ObamaCare means that doctors will be able to ask their patients about guns and that health-related information will be used to deny guns to millions of citizens, just as more than 150,000 military veterans have already been denied.”
-- GOA statement in postcards landing on congressional desks over the past several weeks

Folks, this is another incredible victory for GOA members -- and for any lover of the Constitution who has been working so hard to defund ObamaCare!

As we told you last week, the postcards you receive in the mail from Gun Owners of America are an EXTREMELY important part of our strategy -- click here to become a GOA member and to start receiving yours.

These postcards have proved their usefulness time and time again, as it pays off for us to dump thousands upon thousands of postcards on congressional desks.

And now we hear the great news from yesterday, which amounts to an about-face from the leadership’s earlier position.

Finally, the House Leadership does an about-face on ObamaCare.

The House Republican leadership has (reluctantly) agreed to vote to send the Senate a government funding bill -- known as the “Continuing Resolution” or “CR” -- that defunds the anti-gun ObamaCare program for the next year.

According to Capitol Hill’s Roll Call newspaper yesterday, “House Republicans emerged from their weekly conference meeting Wednesday morning with a new strategy on the continuing resolution:  defund ObamaCare in the stopgap spending bill.”

As such, the House is also planning to send the Senate a bill raising the debt ceiling that will delay implementation of the anti-gun ObamaCare program for the next year. And it has plans for a “prioritization” bill assuring that critical programs are funded first from incoming revenues, even if the government reaches its borrowing limit.

Not surprisingly, Democratic Senate Leader Harry Reid has indicated he would rather shut down the government than not fund the highly unpopular ObamaCare program. Said Reid: “I’ve told the speaker personally…we are not going to have them hold the [spending bill]…hostage to ‘ObamaCare’…”

Fine.

If Reid is willing to shut down the government rather than defund his pile of corruption and bribes, let him. IT WILL BE REID WHO IS SHUTTING DOWN THE GOVERNMENT.

There are a bunch of myths which have been perpetrated by Obama and his cronies, but we will deal with two today and give you our suggested responses to them.

MYTH #1:  “Some Republicans in Washington are eagerly preparing to…shut down the government if Democrats…do not agree to defund ObamaCare…” [Manchester Union Leader, September 19, 2013]

ANSWER: This is simply incorrect.  Under the Antideficiency Act and a series of interpretations by the Office of Legal Counsel and the Office of Management and Budget, all essential functions of the government will continue. If the House wants to send the Senate a bill specifically reinforcing that fact -- and explicitly keeping popular programs open -- it should.

The House cannot remain neutral on ObamaCare. It either funds a program that it then cynically says it wants to eliminate -- or it doesn’t. If Harry Reid is set on shutting down the government, rather than approving a bill that fails to fund his corrupt bribe scheme, that’s his problem.

MYTH # 2: The GOP, by opposing the funding of ObamaCare, is committing “suicide.”

ANSWER:  If it is so suicidal for Republicans to fight to defund ObamaCare, why doesn’t Obama want them to do it? Why, instead, are Obama and his media terrified that conservatives will turn this into an issue?

The times conservatives have used government funding to enforce conservative principles -- in 1995-96 under Newt Gingrich and in July, 2011, over the debt limit -- they have benefited politically and produced huge policy victories.

Consider that in 2010, Republicans ran against ObamaCare and enjoyed huge electoral victories.  But in 2012, they nominated a candidate for president who invented the prelude to ObamaCare (a.k.a., “RomneyCare”) and who ran against the high unemployment rate.

Let’s see, which strategy produced the better result -- electorally speaking?

ACTION: Click here to contact your representatives and senators. Let them know that you want them to fight to preserve the House position defunding ObamaCare on the government funding resolution.

Now maybe what he'll do is he'll find a charter school that only accepts kids with high scores. Then he'll get a better quality of education.
Keep the poor kids out, re-segregate them, keep them locked in ghettos where they won't be near his kids; and then we will create in this country a dual school system such as we had before Brown vs. Board of Education, where the poor kids and the kids who don't make it and the cutoffs are segregated, where the kids with disabilities are kept out of the school, where the kids who are English language learners are kept out of the school.
That works, but it's wrong

Crop Insurers’ $14 Billion Some See as Money Laundering

Former American International Group Inc. chief Maurice “Hank” Greenberg has a new business partner: the U.S. taxpayer.

Greenberg’s Starr Indemnity & Liability Co. is one of 18 companies approved to get federal cash for insuring farmers against loss of crops or income. Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC), the nation’s fourth-largest bank by assets, Zurich-based Ace Ltd. (ACE) and units of American Financial Group Inc. (AFG), Deere & Co. (DE) and Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. (ADM) all enjoy similar public backing.

The government subsidies show how a program created to safeguard the nation’s farmers has evolved into a system that in most years all but guarantees profits for insurers. In 2012, taxpayers spent $14 billion paying more than 60 percent of farmers’ insurance premiums, the companies’ operating costs and the lion’s share of claims triggered by a historic drought, according to the Congressional Research Service.

“What we’ve got is a money-laundering operation,” says Harwood Schaffer of the University of Tennessee’s Agricultural Policy Analysis Center. “It looks like we’re doing a free market thing and it’s not free market at all.”

Suspect dies after gunfight with officer at pawn shop

Via Equal Force

A volunteer reserve deputy with the Harris County Sheriff's Office shot and killed a man on Wednesday in a gunfight outside a north side pawn shop.

The gunfire erupted about 6 p.m. at Cash America in the 9800 block of Airline near West Mount Houston.

The man was struck twice and taken by ambulance to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not available late Wednesday.

The deputy was not injured, officials said.

Police called

Employees at the pawn shop said the man came into the store shortly before 6 p.m. and wanted to see several expensive pieces of jewelry.

"One of their policies is to have an ID with you in order to look," said sheriff's deputy Thomas Gilliland.

The man didn't have any and continued walking around the shop. Employees told deputies it appeared as if he was casing the store for a holdup.

The employees then called police, reporting a suspicious person.

An Arkansas father of two small children shot and killed an intruder who kicked open the back door to the house while the family slept late Wednesday night, according to local reports.

The home invasion occurred in Ashdown, about 20 miles north of Texarkana, just before 11 p.m. The homeowner, his wife and two preschool-age children were asleep when the suspect apparently broke into the house by forcing his way through the back door.

The suspect had already been in several rooms of the house before the family, who did not wish to be identified, woke up. Yet once the father did awaken, he grabbed his handgun and went to confront the man wandering in his home. It’s unknown if there was any sort of an altercation between the two men, but it is known that the homeowner fatally shot the man.

Muslim Brotherhood Official, Former Clinton Foundation Employee Arrested

A senior Muslim Brotherhood official who, until recently, had been employed by the William J. Clinton Foundation was arrested in Cairo on Tuesday and charged with inciting violence.

Gehad el-Haddad served as one of the Muslim Brotherhood’s top communications officials until Egyptian security forces seized him as part of a wider crackdown on officials loyal to ousted former President Mohamed Morsi.

Before emerging as a top Brotherhood official and adviser to Morsi, el-Haddad served for five years as an official at the Clinton Foundation, a nonprofit group founded by former President Bill Clinton.

El-Haddad gained a reputation for pushing the Muslim Brotherhood’s Islamist agenda in the foreign press, where he was often quoted defending the Brotherhood’s crackdown on civil liberties in Egypt.

Wrap-up Regarding Levin's Dangerous Con-Con Proposal

A One Party State

Each and every day I become more convinced that leftists either never heard of the concept of unintended consequences, they simply don't care or are completely incapable of seeing anything beyond a hedonistic desire for what they think will be emotionally satisfying in the moment.  I can only guess this is what passes for normal in their closed little worlds as most of them have only been taught what to think not how to think.

My case in point being all the parrot squawking about "extortion".  One inside the beltway talking head speaks the word and they all start squawking in unison as if on cue.  The latest mime being that the Republicans and/or the Tea Party are ready, willing and wanting to shut down the entire government in order to get Obamacare defunded.  There are even some who earnestly hope that it happens as they see that as the death knell of the Republican Party and that that would clear the way for their long hoped for one-party state!  I'd ask one of these idiots if they are insane but I doubt they could even define the term.

It's bad enough that for leftists compromise means others acceding to their desires, never the other way around.  But I don't think they can even begin to grasp what it means that under a one-party state there is no one left to debate with never mind compromise with.

Ok. So just for gits and shiggles let's say that is exactly just what transpires.  What happens from there?

Boy Facing Expulsion For Turning In Hunting Knife At School Football Game

 http://static.ddmcdn.com/gif/knife-hunting-1.jpg

I remember being at the airport about 10 years ago and forgetting that I had a pocketknife on me. I always had it on me, and I remembered that I had it as I was going through security. Instead of waiting for the security personnel to find it, I decided I would tell them as soon as I could, so that they wouldn’t think I was trying to sneak it in. I pulled it out of my jacket where I always kept it and gave it to one of the guards. He gasped as if I were holding an explosive device. With eyes wide open and mouth gaping in awe, he unfolded it slowly and showed it to me as if I had never seen it before. “Yeah, it’s my knife. I know what it looks like.”

Thankfully, I didn’t get in trouble. They gave me the option of mailing the knife to myself via the airport post office or allowing them to “hold on to it for me.” I took them up on their offer to let me mail the knife to my address.

Well, things didn’t work out as well for a 16-year-old high schooler in Pittsburgh. He had just been hunting in some woods behind his house before his dad dropped him off at one of his school’s football games. Before he entered the stands, he realized he still had his hunting knife on him. He knew that it was against the rules to have any kind of weapon on school grounds. So, he thought if he just turned it in and was open about it and apologized, he’d be OK. He turned in the knife to a security guard at the game and even accompanied the knife with a signed letter:

“I was in the woods behind my house at my tree stand and forgot to take my knife out of my pocket … came to the game and gave it to the security guard. [signed] David Schaffner III”

Everything seemed fine until the principal found out about this student’s atrocity. The principal approached Schaffner in the stands and ordered him to leave the game. But that wasn’t enough to punish him for his violent behavior and possession of an “assault” weapon on campus grounds. He suspended the boy for 10 days.

Surviving one year in a city surrounded by the enemy army and cut off from the rest of the world. I'm Selco and have been through this SHTF school I never wanted to attend during the Balkan wars 1992 - 1995. I write about this here.

People who are in survival and prepping „movement“ all around the world and around the web are doing lot of stuff in order to prepare for SHTF.

Numerous blogs and forums are there, and they all trying to figure when s. gonna hit the fan and how it is going to be. My time in war was like worst case scenario but hopefully only few people will have it that bad even when there is total collapse and no law (at least you are not gonna have snipers and shelling if your government behaves).

1 million dollar question is: „How is the collapse going to look like, and when is it gonna start?“

So there are numerous opinions, and also numerous ideas about how it is gonna look, when it is gonna start and whatever.

And big truth is that „sheep“ people (non preppers, non survivalists) are not gonna see it coming and it is understandable, but also lot of real preppers are blind.

This is a moment that defines courage; the direction of our country is not good. Lawmakers can prove their backbone by defunding Obamacare

I have been interested in the political atmosphere of our country since my preteen years. It has been particularly interesting to observe the political shenanigans adopted by many of those wishing to obtain or maintain power. Fortunately, there have also been many who were truly interested in serving the people who put them in office. Looking at one’s life, voting record and words can provide significant insight into which of the aforementioned categories a political figure fits.

In the 1960s, John F. Kennedy wrote a book titled “Profiles In Courage,” which was very inspiring, as he examined the lives of individuals who had enough daring to go against the flow and make a real difference in society. As a young, very intelligent president of our country, he was faced with many daunting problems, not the least of which was an attempt by the Russians to supply Cuba with nuclear weapons, which would have been situated just 90 miles off of our shores.

IRS officials thought Obama wanted crackdown on tea party groups, worried about negative press

IRS employees were “acutely” aware in 2010 that President Obama wanted to crack down on conservative organizations and were egged into targeting tea party groups by press reports mocking the emerging movement, according to an interim report being circulated Tuesday by House investigators.

The report, by staffers for Rep. Darrell E. Issa, California Republican and chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, quoted two Internal Revenue Service officials saying the tea party applications were singled out in the targeting program that has the agency under investigation because “they were likely to attract media attention.”

US government seizes NY skyscraper allegedly secretly owned by Iran

The U.S. Attorney’s office has seized ownership of a skyscraper in New York City, alleging that it was secretly owned and operated by the Iranian Government.

The structure at 650 Fifth Avenue, a 36-story building near Rockefeller Center in midtown Manhattan formerly known as the Piaget Building, was seized after a judgment by the New York Southern District court on Tuesday. The government plans to use money from the seizure to compensate victims of Iranian–sponsored terrorism.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara claimed that the property owner, the Assa Corporation, was nothing more than a front for the state-run bank that financed the building.

How The U.S. Military Plans To Hijack The Airwaves

Via WiscoDave

 socom1

If you want to take over a nation, then first take over its airwaves. Broadcast your messages and interdict the enemy’s ability to broadcast theirs. When the U.S. attacked Iraq in 1991, or NATO bombed Serbia in 1999, among the first targets destroyed were TV and radio stations. When there is a military coup in Africa, the first buildings the rebels usually grab are the radio and TV studios. So it is illuminating that the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), the organization that oversees America’s elite special forces, is quietly searching for equipment that will effectively give it control over every FM and AM radio station in an area.

Family Research Council shooter sentenced to 25 years

Prosecutors called it the “ultimate disrespect for free speech,” trying to silence those with whom you disagree by killing them.

Chief U.S. District Judge Richard W. Roberts agreed, sentencing homosexual activist Floyd Lee Corkins today to 25 years in prison for attempting a mass shooting at the headquarters of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C.

The judge could have sentenced Corkins to as much as 45 years.

The defense argued Corkins should only get 11-and-a-half years because he was suffering from mental illness. However, the prosecution outlined to the judge how Corkins used his treatment for mental illness to clear his head in order to carefully plan his crime, step by step.

Support for gun control lowest in a year

Despite the horrific mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard on Monday, support for more gun control has fallen to its lowest level in over a year. Most Americans don't think tougher gun control would have prevented this week's killings anyway.

Just 33% of American Adults believe it’s at least somewhat likely that stricter gun control laws would have prevented the mass shooting in Washington, DC, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. That includes 15% who say it is Very Likely stricter laws would have prevented the tragedy. Fifty-nine percent (59%) think it’s unlikely tougher gun laws would have prevented the shooting, including 26% who say it’s Not At All Likely. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

 Financial Crisis Evidence

In November 2008, President Obama was elected, and he was sworn in January 2009. The country was promised change and reform. Recently two democrats close to the top of President Obama’s administration made excuses to me for the lack of financial reform in the United States. Their separately related versions were remarkably similar, so similar they seemed scripted:

The administration made a bargain, and I’m not sure it was the right decision. The world was teetering on the edge of collapse. There was a crisis of confidence. There would have been unimaginable consequences. So bad even your imagination can’t handle the truth?

It was the lesser of two evils to let a lot of people get away scot free than to risk a collapse in confidence.  There were only two choices according to this narrative.

It was better to let a lot of people get away scot free than to have the first African American president take on the establishment while the country was deeply divided and he needed agreement on big things like ending wars, health care, Supreme Court nominees (and LGBT rights). There were lots of battles without taking on the financial establishment.  It seems to me that reforming our financial system is a big thing. As for at least two of the narrative’s big issues: health care costs are zooming up, and it looks as if we’re rattling our swords for another military conflict.

The president was elected in part on his promise to effect change on the really tough issues, and there was no better time than when the crisis was fresh, and he had a groundswell of popular support.

Good Deal! Ex-Guantanamo detainee dies fighting Assad in Syria

Via Daily Timewaster

An Islamic opposition group in Syria has posted a video of the funeral of a former Guantánamo prisoner, the first known report that one of the 500 or so captives released during the Bush administration joined the Syrian insurgency to topple Bashar Assad.

The Syrian Islamic Movement posted the video Monday on YouTube. It shows the body of a fallen fighter in his 30s or 40s and a rebel leader, Sheik Abu Ahmad al Muhajir, eulogizing the man as Mohammed al Alami, a Northwest African veteran of the jihad in Afghanistan “who went through hardship for the sake of God in the prison of the Americans in Guantánamo for five years.”

U.S. Defense Department officials who help track released Guantánamo detainees had no comment Tuesday.
