A Hostile Environment For Truth

Do you see what they are doing? Do you understand? The assault on freedom of the press has begun in our own House of Representatives, a Republican-led House of Representatives, that have passed a bill including a "fake news" clause into H.R. 6480

ACTIVE MEASURES BY RUSSIA TO EXERT COVERT INFLUENCE.—The term ‘‘active measures by Russia to exert covert influence’’ means activities intended to influence a person or government that are carried out in coordination with, or at the behest of, political leaders or the security services of the Russian Federation and the role of the Russian Federation has been hidden or not acknowledged publicly including the following:

(A) Establishment or funding of a front group.
(B) Covert broadcasting.
(C) Media manipulation.
(D) Disinformation and forgeries.
(E) Funding agents of influence.
(F) Incitement and offensive counterintelligence.
(G) Assassinations.

All of these in italics could be considered information fed to websites, which are then disseminated out to the public. But, there is no way for an owner of a website to know where that information originated, in fact, our own intelligence communities cannot accurately determine where information originated on the Internet. There is no way for the owner of a website to know the absolute validity of any information found on the Internet then transmitted to the public. In fact, without being able to go back and look at H.R. 6480, I would not know for sure that what I had heard was true.

Electoral College: More Dem than GOP defections

Four Democratic electors in Washington state cast votes for candidates other than Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, who carried the state.

In Hawaii, three votes went to Clinton, while one elector voted for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Democratic electors in Maine, Minnesota and Colorado separately tried to cast votes for different candidates, but saw their ballots barred. Clinton carried all three states.

Ahead of the Electoral College vote, the focus was on whether any voters would defect from casting ballots for Republican Donald Trump

Judge orders release of FBI search warrant into Huma Abedin emails

Via Billy

FILE - In this July 3, 2015, file photo, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, left, and her personal aide Huma Abedin approach a window to buy ice cream at Dairy Twirl in Lebanon, N.H. The State Department has agreed to review 29,000 pages of emails from Abedin from their days at the State Department for possible public release under a new legal agreement with a conservative legal group. But many of the emails from Abedin would not be publicly released until six months after the election. (AP Photo/Elise Amendola, file)

A federal judge on Monday ordered the administration to release the search warrant that the FBI used to probe Huma Abedin’s emails in the waning days of the presidential election — a move that Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s team is blaming for her loss.

Judge P Kevin Castel said the warrant and the accompanying affidavit will be released by the court at noon on Tuesday.

He also allowed the Justice Department to shield the names of the FBI agents who were involved in the probe, and ordered that names of two people who haven’t been charged with any crimes but who appear in the documents also be shielded.

But he said the public’s right to know about the details of the FBI’s election-season probe overcome Mrs. Clinton’s own privacy rights.

Comment by  The Road on The “White” Versus “European” Identity Crisis

“Out of deference to the critics, I want to comment on … what the bill will not do. First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same … Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset … Contrary to the charges in some quarters, S.500 will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and economically deprived nations of Africa and Asia. In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think. Thirdly, the bill will not permit the entry of subversive persons, criminals, illiterates, or those with contagious disease or serious mental illness.

As I noted a moment ago, no immigrant visa will be issued to a person who is likely to become a public charge … the charges I have mentioned are highly emotional, irrational, and with little foundation in fact. They are out of line with the obligations of responsible citizenship. They breed hate of our heritage.”(Senate Part 1, Book 1, pp. 1-3)

Russia says killing of ambassador in Ankara is act of terrorism

Via Billy

The unidentified perpetrator, a man wearing a suit and a tie, shouted "Allahu Akbar" ("God is great" in Arabic) during the attack. He also referenced the crisis in Syria and Aleppo after the shooting, saying that those involved in the Syrian conflict “will pay for it one by one.” The attacker was killed by Turkish Special Forces.
The attack on Russian envoy Andrey Karlov, who died of gunshot wounds received during an official event in the Turkish capital, Ankara, is qualified by Moscow as a "terrorist act," the Foreign Ministry says.

Announcing Karlov's death, the ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the "day is tragic in the history of the Russian diplomacy." The ambassador was shot at a public event in the Turkish capital, the ministry confirmed, saying that he later died of his wounds.

The topic of the killing of the Russian diplomat will be raised at the UN Security Council on Monday, Zakharova said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry will issue a statement later in the day, she added.
