Sanity At Last! The Virginia Flaggers: An Invitation

A few weeks ago, Grayson received an intriguing invitation from the President of the National Alliance of Faith and Justice to join them for a dialogue with participants in their moving classroom, as it travels from DC to Alabama this week. She had followed the stories of the Fredericksburg I-95 Battle Flag with great interest since she lives in Stafford, and was hoping to facilitate a lesson on the front end of their journey that would embrace all sides of the discussion. She felt that connecting with someone from the Virginia Flaggers was important to that discussion, and set out to make contact with us. After some discussion and prayer, and based on our positive interaction with the group's president, we decided to accept the invitation and agreed to meet with them.

Thursday night, we joined them for supper, and shared information about who we are, what we do, and presented historical information regarding our flags. What was scheduled as a 15 minute presentation turned into an over hour long question, answer, and discussion period, covering many topics and issues regarding the Confederate flag. Though often passionate, the discourse was at all times courteous and respectful, and we appreciated the opportunity to let our voice (and that of our Confederate ancestors) be heard.

"Going Home" March 2015 Meeting of the SCV Private Bryan Jackson Buck Camp # 1769, Peletier NC

David Burnett gave an excellent review of the various Presidential Proclamations and War Department General Orders relating to the release of Confederate Prisoners of War. Included a time line for discharges from Fort Delaware between April, 1865 and January, 1866.

“But for five days past we have not had a morsel of meat of any kind; the cooks alleging that the supply ran short and “spoiled.” (For a fortnight before it ceased to be issued, the rations were so full of worms, and stank so that one had to hold his nose while eating it!) But now we receive none at all! Talk about Andersonville! We would gladly exchange rations with the Yankees there!

Building a Smokehouse

Via Cousin John

When my husband, Kevin, told me he wanted to build a smokehouse, I was a bit apprehensive because I wasn’t sure I liked smoked meat enough to do large quantities for our family of two. Being a homesteader and a Googler, I looked up other things besides meat that we could smoke and found that the smoked flavor adds to almost any food.

So, we found (or more truthfully, stole) an instructional YouTube video that gave us the specifications for building it. The basic cedar house looked like an outhouse with a porch until we added the pizza oven to it. Neither of us had ever done masonry work before, but we designed a wooden igloo form and covered it in the fire brick, then added the exterior pavers, a door and chimney, and we were off to the races. It took longer than we anticipated due to rainy cold weather and our reluctance to make mistakes. Once we saw the finished project, we decided a pizza oven under the pergola was do-ble and soon we will attempt it.

Islamic State (ISIS) savages behead three Kurdish Peshmerga soldiers

The Islamic State has released a shocking new video, featuring the beheading execution of three Kurdish prisoners in Iraq, as a warning to their sworn enemies on the Kurdish New Year.

Dressed in orange boiler suits with their hands bound behind his back, the Kurdish soldiers are each marched through the ruins of a bombed out building by an ISIS fighter.

UK Daily Mail All three prisoners are then beheaded in front of a large crowd of local residents, including a number of children.

Each time the prisoners are individually shown being forced to  knees. They have all had their heads shaved and dressed in matching uniforms. The footage briefly stops to reveal the names of each prisoner, revealing their rank and background in the Peshmerga.

Update: Camp Lone Star

In Camp Lone Star – “Fruit of the Poisonous Tree” and Camp Lone Star – “a Fundamental Right”, I discussed the motions filed by K. C. Massey’s attorney, Louis Sorola, the former being a motion to suppress evidence and the latter a motion to dismiss the charges. The government, surprisingly, managed to respond to those motions within the statutory time (20 days), when they filed the

That is not an error on my part. The word “Indictment” is spelled, on the title of the document, as “Indictmnt”. Pretty good start for someone who receives over $100,000 per year plus amazing benefits from your hard earned money. You would think that they have spell-check on their computers, and that they would, to avoid error, have someone proofread what they write. But, heck, I guess that any form of diligence, whether as to grammar or truth, is not within their scope of responsibility.

Back on October 20, 2014, agents of the FBI and the BATF went to a home in Quinlan, Texas, to search for weapons (See Camp Lone Star – The Arrest of K. C. Massey). Any authority to search this house would be based upon the assumption that it was where Massey lived — his residence.

The UN Just Condemned a Single Nation for Women’s Rights Violations

If there’s one nation on the planet that abuses women, it’s…Israel?

That’s what the United Nations seems to believe, at least.

The U.N.’s Commission on the Status of Women released nine official documents over the course of its annual meeting this week, but as Ynetnews reported, only one of the U.N.’s 193 member nations was singled out for a reprimand: Israel.

Rather than focus on rampant female genital mutilation in Somalia or Saudi Arabia’s treatment of women as second-class citizens who can’t even drive themselves to the hospital, the U.N. took aim at Israel in a report titled, “Situation of and assistance to Palestinian women.”

A British report has delivered a bombshell that could influence the debate on women in combat. The report becomes public as a January 2016 deadline for services to request exemptions from the Obama Administration’s policy to open ground combat roles to women approaches.

According to a report by the Washington Times, the report by the Ministry of Defense, done this past December, stated that opening ground combat roles to women would likely have detrimental effects in combat effectiveness and possibly unit cohesion. The report stated that “In three of the 11 negative factors, mitigation would be a significant challenge; these are survivability, morbidity and deployability, much of which are predicated by physiology.” The report also noted the survivability risks were “about biology rather than character.”

NC: Reps. Daughtry, Davis and Jackson Return to the 11th Century…

 Image result for grnc

In a move reminiscent of 11th Century superstition, normally pro-gun Reps. N. Leo Daughtry (R-Johnston) and Ted Davis, Jr. (R-New Hanover) have, perhaps unwittingly, signed on with rabidly anti-gun Rep. Darren Jackson (D-Wake) with a bill entitled: "Destroy Firearm/Crime of Assault or Murder" (H241), which would push to destroy guns "used to assault a law enforcement officer."

Blaming guns has always been a ploy of the anti-gun establishment, and this bill is no exception. The proposed bill guts current legislation that limits the destruction of firearms by law enforcement to only those lacking legible serial numbers or are unsafe due to wear, damage, age, or modifications.

Apparently Reps Daughtry, Davis and Jackson believe in "deodands": The ancient superstition that an object believed to have "caused" a person's death should be destroyed because it is a "guilty object."

Co-founder of Greenpeace: Why I am a Climate Change Skeptic

Via comment by Sioux on  "Warmist" Study: World Needs To Transfer $400 Bill...

I am skeptical humans are the main cause of climate change and that it will be catastrophic in the near future. There is no scientific proof of this hypothesis, yet we are told “the debate is over” and “the science is settled.”

My skepticism begins with the believers’ certainty they can predict the global climate with a computer model. The entire basis for the doomsday climate change scenario is the hypothesis increased atmospheric carbon dioxide due to fossil fuel emissions will heat the Earth to unlivable temperatures.

In fact, the Earth has been warming very gradually for 300 years, since the Little Ice Age ended, long before heavy use of fossil fuels. Prior to the Little Ice Age, during the Medieval Warm Period, Vikings colonized Greenland and Newfoundland, when it was warmer there than today. And during Roman times, it was warmer, long before fossil fuels revolutionized civilization.

As Attorney General Eric Holder once famously observed, "America is a nation of cowards when it comes to talking about race while buying wildly overpriced hipster coffee."

To rectify this problem, Starbucks recently instituted a campaign called "Race Together," which encourages their employees to strike up meaningful conversations about race relations with poor bleary-eyed bastards who just came in for their morning caffeine fix.

And who better to give straight talk on one of the most sensitive issues in our country than a company which can't even use clear language like "small" "medium" and "large" when obfuscating the sizes of their own products?

NC: Senators target religious exemption for vaccines: Would make childhood vaccinations mandatory

Via Dane

DOA.  Why do they even bother wasting our time?

A bill filed Thursday by three senators would repeal the state’s religious exemption for vaccines.
Senate Bill 346, sponsored by Sens. Jeff Tarte R-Mecklenburg, Tamara Barringer, R-Wake, and Terry Van Duyn, D-Buncombe, would also add influenza B and polio to the list of required vaccinations for school enrollment, as well as others recommended by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, with the exception of the HPV vaccine.

Under current state law, a parent or guardian of a child can exempt that child from school immunization requirements simply by submitting “a written statement of the bona fide religious beliefs and opposition to the immunization requirements.” Adults can also exempt themselves from required immunizations for colleges and universities.

North Carolina parents could no longer claim a religious exemption to having their children vaccinated against disease under a bill introduced Thursday in the state Senate.

Senate Bill 346 would repeal a law that exempts children from vaccinations if their parents or guardians object for “bona fide religious beliefs.”

“The intent is not to violate religious freedom in any way, shape or form,” Sen. Jeff Tarte said at a news conference. “(But) your rights stop at the point you start impinging on anybody else’s rights.”
