Lincoln’s Departure from Civilized Warfare

http://www.sonofthesouth.net/leefoundation/civil-war/1865/April/sherman-burning-columbia.jpg

Lincoln’s military policy of total war not only influenced Grant and Sherman, but also Sheridan who devastated Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.  The latter told Bismarck during the Franco-Prussian War that “You know how to hit an enemy as no other army does, but you have not learnt how to annihilate him.”  The author does not mention that the burning of Washington was in retaliation for New York militiamen under General McClure looting and burning the Canadian town of Newton (now Niagara on the Lake) in 1814.

Lincoln’s Departure from Civilized Warfare

“In North America, European influence had always been predominant and one would therefore expect to find warfare conducted there more or less in accordance with European standards.  The facts, however, do not confirm this reasonable expectation.  Thus, the crowning episode of the war of 1812-14 between Britain and the United States was when a British column . . . marched inland to Washington and there burnt the Capitol, the White House and various other public buildings.

Most of the wars in which the white settlers in North America had been involved before 1861 were with the Red Indians . . . classic examples of harsh and rudimentary primary warfare [and]  . . . Lapses into barbaric practices were consequently frequent.

Hence it is not surprising that the first great historic break with European practice should have taken place in the sanguinary American Civil War (or “The War Between the States,” as the Southerners still prefer to designate it).  The military precedents in the United States were nearly all in the pattern of primary warfare.  Even President Lincoln himself had fought briefly in his youth against the Red Indians and he exerted a dominant influence on Northern military policy and strategy.

It was the Northern or Federal armies which produced this historic reversion to primary or total warfare.  The North had endured much bellicose contact with the Red Indians and was much less influenced by Europe than the South.  The latter was culturally a European colony until after the Civil War, Southern children were educated in Europe, and the Southern aristocracy travelled widely in Europe.  Southern soldiers were very familiar with European military ideals.

General Robert E. Lee . . . was the perfect example of Southern military chivalry in complete accord with the European ideals of civilized warfare.  It is for this reason Professor T. Harry Williams accurately calls Lee “the last of the great old-fashioned generals.” His “old-fashioned” trait was his fidelity to the European code of civilized warfare.

There has been a traditional habit of saddling the responsibility for the Northern departure from civilized warfare on . . . Sherman . . . This is quite unjust.  Sherman only conducted the most dramatic and devastating example of the strategy which was laid down by President Lincoln himself and was faithfully followed by General Ulysses S. Grant as commander in chief of the Northern armies.  That Lincoln determined the basic lines of Northern military strategy has been well established . . .
[and] Grant only efficiently applied Lincoln’s military policy in the field.  Hence it is apparent that Sherman was only carrying out effectively the military policy which Lincoln and Grant had adopted.

[After expelling the inhabitants of Atlanta and destroying homes, factories and mills, Sherman laid] waste the country as he went.  “Until we can repopulate Georgia, it is useless to occupy it,” he wrote to headquarters . . . [and] turned northwards along the Atlantic coast to Charleston. He made no secret of his intentions.

“I sincerely believe,” he wrote General Halleck in Washington, “that whole United States would rejoice to have my army turned loose on South Carolina, to devastate that State in the manner we have done in Georgia.”  To which Halleck replied with admiring approval and the expression of a hope that “should you capture Charleston, by some accident the place may be destroyed.”

[Sherman replied] “The truth is, the whole army is burning with insatiable desire to wreak vengeance upon South Carolina.”

To do him justice, Sherman was no simple-minded barbarian carried away by the heat of the moment; nor was he vindictive against a people who practiced Negro slavery. On the eve of the War he wrote his brother that: “I would recoil from a war when the Negro is the only question.”

The Federal methods of total warfare and the arguments which were used to justify them aroused curiously little interest at the time in Europe.  But, after all, they reasoned, what better could be expected of colonials led by militia officers whose only training had been wars with Red Indians. No lesson was to be learnt by European professional soldiers from such disorderly proceedings, least of all the hoary truth that one way of winning a war was to terrorize the enemy civilian population.”

Top generals: Obama is 'purging the military'

 http://www.dustoff.org/hall-of-fame/Images/brady.jpg

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Patrick Brady, recipient of the U.S. military’s highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, as well as other top retired officers, say President Obama’s agenda is decimating the morale of the U.S. ranks to the point members no longer feel prepared to fight or have the desire to win.

“There is no doubt he (Obama) is intent on emasculating the military and will fire anyone who disagrees with him” over such issues as “homosexuals, women in foxholes, the Obama sequester,” Brady told WND.

“They are purging everyone, and if you want to keep your job, just keep your mouth shut,” one source told WND.

Not only are military service members being demoralized and the ranks’ overall readiness being reduced by the Obama administration’s purge of key leaders, colonels – those lined up in rank to replace outgoing generals – are quietly taking their careers in other directions.

Retired Army Lt. Gen. William G. “Jerry” Boykin, who was with Delta Force and later Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence under President George W. Bush, says it is worrying that four-star generals are being retired at the rate that has occurred under Obama.

“Over the past three years, it is unprecedented for the number of four-star generals to be relieved of duty, and not necessarily relieved for cause,” Boykin said.

“I believe there is a purging of the military,” he said. “The problem is worse than we have ever seen.”

"PREPARE FOR BATTLE PATRIOTS - OR PREPARE TO DIE."

With the capitulation and betrayal of the American People by Congress Wednesday, for every Patriot, this is the last straw, or should be. I have heard enough of the drivel from cowardly men and women that we should work within the broken system, work by the rules of a rigged game, to extradite ourselves from the Tyranny that has us in its grips.

"Follow the law, elect good men to office, work within the system, don't be a rock-thrower."

Are you BLEEPING kidding me?

We are slowly being subjugated, bit by bit, little by little. Our leaders in Congress have failed us, nay betrayed us, for their own personal gain. They exempt themselves from laws that they force upon the rest of us, and today that betrayal has reared its ugly hydra-head once again in a monstrosity that lays over anything done so far.

The RINOs in Congress have voted to betray the American public once again.

WHEN IS IT ENOUGH PATRIOTS?  WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET YOU OFF YOUR BACKSIDES AND RISE UP AGAINST TYRANNY?  WHAT DOES IT TAKE, THE MURDER OF YOUR FAMILY ON YOUR FRONT LAWN?

VA Supreme Court: state has no duty to protect students from gunmen on campus

Via Bearing Arms

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The state Supreme Court on Thursday reversed a jury's wrongful death verdict against the state stemming from the 2007 killing of 32 students and faculty at Virginia Tech in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

The justices ruled in the case of two students whose families argued that they might have survived the rampage if the Blacksburg campus had been alerted earlier to the gunman's initial shootings at a dormitory. Erin Nicole Peterson, Julia Kathleen Pryde and 28 other people were killed nearly three hours later in Norris Hall, a classroom building.

But the justices agreed with the state — that there was no way to anticipate the deadly intentions of student Seung-Hui Cho, who killed himself after the killings.

"Based on the limited information available to the commonwealth at the time prior to the shootings in Norris Hall, it cannot be said that it was known or reasonably foreseeable that students in Norris Hall would fall victim to criminal harm," the court wrote. "Thus, as a matter of law, the commonwealth did not have a duty to protect students against third party criminal acts."

Man with concealed weapons permit shoots, kills robber in double-shooting

floyd.JPG

A man with a concealed-weapons permit shot and killed an alleged robber in an incident outside of a New York Fried Chicken restaurant that ultimately left two men dead, investigators said Thursday.

The two related shootings occurred around 12:45 a.m. Oct. 31 at 734 S. Division Ave.

One of the people killed was the robbery suspect, police have said. His name has not been released.

Family members have identified Domnick Floyd, 23, of Grand Rapids, as the second victim at the shooting scene. They said that police told them that Floyd was picked out for robbery by others after he attended a hip-hop concert at the Intersection nightclub.

Grand Rapids Police have not identified anyone involved in the shootings.

“The next burglar gets the same treatment with a bigger gun”

Charles Sweeny of Tulsa, Oklahoma, is almost as good with one-liners as he is with his gun:

Police are searching for a burglar who was shot multiple times. He was caught in the act by a homeowner, who showed no mercy.

The burglar was taken to the hospital on October 12, but now he’s essentially disappeared. Police have already arrested one man for the burglary and now they’re searching for Michael Watts.

The homeowner who shot Watts said it’s a shame that Watts broke into his house looking for gold and left full of lead.

Charles Sweeny has lived in the same home in midtown Tulsa for nearly six decades, so you can only imagine what went through his mind when he noticed things inside weren’t how he left them.

“Mother’s dresser drawer was open, so I knew I had walked in to a burglary. I took care of that problem el pronto mucho fasto,” Sweeny said.

Sweeny said he came face-to-face with the man who broke into his house.

GOA Action Alert: Don’t Buy ObamaCare Insurance Just Because the Government Tells You To

http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/sites/default/files/styles/image_content_width/hash/dc/04/dc040ccb132e585478b10d1ab55640e5.jpg?itok=py2PYscZ

Follow Rep. Steve Stockman’s lead!
For over three years, Gun Owners of America has been warning Americans about the dangers of ObamaCare.

While more and more Americans continue to learn about the unintentional “glitches” populating the ObamaCare website, they are also discovering the INTENTIONAL dangers the new law poses for gun owners.

The news about these problems continues to spread, and other groups continue to forward our information.  Just recently, the Tea Party Unity ran a GOA article entitled, “ObamaCare Threatens Gun Owners Rights.”

Indeed, ObamaCare will take the gun ban that has disarmed more than 150,000 military veterans and expand it to potentially cover millions and millions of additional Americans.

Having said that, if you or a member of your family has a condition that requires serious medical attention, fine. There’s no moral imperative preventing you from trying to benefit from Obama’s health care “house of cards,” while it lasts.

But don’t buy insurance just because the President tells you to and threatens to fine you if you don’t.  First, many believe that this isn’t going to happen.  But even if it did, consider this.

President “Above-the-Law” Obama has now waived ObamaCare for everyone except for us -- the “little guys.” But it’s going to victimize us, in spades.

ObamaCare, as drafted, purported to protect some, but not all, of our Second Amendment rights.  Yet Obama pretty much showed his hands with Executive Action 16, where he encouraged doctors to ask kids and their parents about guns and enter that information into a federally run database.

Are you ready to have a government bureaucrat decide if you may own a gun or not, with no day in court?  Once doctors start entering your personal information into the medical database, there will be nothing to stop the FBI from using your medical information to deny you the right to purchase a firearm.

We thought we had barred this danger with language that was inserted in Harry Reid’s manager’s amendment (of the ObamaCare bill) at our insistence.  But it has now become clear that ObamaCare is “the law of the land” only when it suits Barack Obama’s purposes:

* ObamaCare has provisions that penalize unions and other Obama supporters. Waived by Obama for many of them.

* ObamaCare’s prohibition on subsidies threatened Congress and its staff. Waived (illegally) by Obama.

* ObamaCare imposed a mandate on businesses, beginning January 1, 2014. Waived illegally by Obama.

* ObamaCare required states to provide Medicaid for a greater percentage of the poor and middle class. Overturned by the Supreme Court.

* ObamaCare required Obama to have an exchange system up and running by October 1. That didn’t happen.

The bottom line? Obama can’t force you to comply with ObamaCare, if he’s not going to comply with it himself.

But, you say, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the law in NFIB v. Sebelius.
Yeah, but remember McCain-Feingold, the unconstitutional campaign finance restrictions on pro-gun speech? The court initially upheld the law’s constitutionality IN THEORY. But years later, when an advocacy group challenged the law, the Court found that the law was largely unconstitutional IN PRACTICE.

There will be legal foundations lining up at the courthouse door to establish that ObamaCare can’t penalize Americans in 2014. Gun Owners Foundation will join in their efforts. And, if necessary, we may bring the suit ourselves.

Obviously, we don’t have a crystal ball, but it may very well be that the launch of ObamaCare will continue to be so disastrous, that the President may very well waive the mandate (and the penalties) for the first year.

But even if he doesn’t, there comes a point when, like our Founding Father Patrick Henry, we have to decide if we are just going to submit to tyranny or if we are going to resist:  “For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery… But as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”

Of course, we are not talking about resisting on the battlefield (the way Henry was).  No, our resistance must come in answering this question:  Am I going to sign up for -- and take part in -- an unconstitutional mandate that perpetuates tyranny and advances gun control?  Or am I willing to resist tyranny, and even be willing to pay a fine, on the chance that Obama doesn’t waive the penalties for failing to participate in ObamaCare?

This is exactly what every member of the staff in Rep. Steve Stockman’s office has done.  All in his office recently voted to reject enrolling in the D.C. exchange.

“ObamaCare is a failing Ponzi scheme that can only work if it overcharges young people and denies care to older people,” Rep. Stockman said. “ObamaCare is not health care and we shouldn’t bail it out with tax dollars.”

ACTION ITEMS:

1)  Don’t buy ObamaCare just because Obama threatens you.  (Again, we’re not trying to dissuade you from benefiting from Obama’s collapsing structure if you or a member of your family has serious medical needs. Enjoy it while it lasts.)

2) Click here to email your Representatives and Senators, urging them to work towards repealing, defunding or delaying ObamaCare (as the budget negotiations continue over the next few months).

Election Integrity Activists: Obamacare 'Biggest Voter Registration Fraud Scheme in History'

Conservatives point to the Obamacare website exploiting a strange loophole in the National Voting Rights Act to question whether the President's signature healthcare law had a political motive, as well.

Several election integrity activists have alleged that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), or Obamacare, does not appear to have been an effort to conduct healthcare reform to fix what was described in 2009 and 2010 as a broken healthcare system.

The law passed Congress with just Democratic Party support. Instead of being an honest attempt to fix America’s healthcare woes, “I think [it] is the biggest voter registration fraud scheme in the history of the world,” said Gregg Phillips, the founder of the election integrity group Voters Trust, in an interview with Breitbart News Wednesday morning.

Phillips and Catherine Engelbrecht of True The Vote, another election integrity group, cite as proof what left-wing organizations are saying about how they plan to use Obamacare. Demos, a left-wing organization funded by liberal billionaire George Soros, published a report earlier this year titled: “Building a Healthy Democracy: Registering 68 Million People to Vote Through Health Benefit Exchanges.”

On page six of the report, author Lisa Danetz argues that Obamacare “will enroll 68 million individuals.”

Pentagon training manual: white males have unfair advantages

Via Dan

 http://www.greatdreams.com/war/basic_training.jpg

"Another war is coming!"

A controversial 600-plus page manual used by the military to train its Equal Opportunity officers teaches that "healthy, white, heterosexual, Christian" men hold an unfair advantage over other races, and warns in great detail about a so-called "White Male Club."

“Simply put, a healthy, white, heterosexual, Christian male receives many unearned advantages of social privilege, whereas a black, homosexual, atheist female in poor health receives many unearned disadvantages of social privilege,” reads a statement in the manual created by the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI).

The manual, which was obtained by Fox News, also instructs troops to “support the leadership of people of color. Do this consistently, but not uncritically,” the manual states.

The Clintonian Halloween Candy Nazi of Fargo

http://media2.abcactionnews.com//photo/2013/10/30/no_candy_letter_640x480_20131030041549_640_480.JPG

Fargo, North Dakota—land of funny accents, hapless husbands’ disastrously staged kidnappings, and Halloween candy Nazis.

“Happy Halloween and Happy Holidays Neighbor!” opens the letter written by a Fargo woman going by the name Cheryl. Cheryl plans on handing out copies of this letter to trick-or-treaters she judges to be fat.

Right off the bat you can tell she’s a liberal because she threw in “Happy Holidays,” even though it’s only Halloween. She doesn’t want to offend the Wiccan children, evidently. (On second thought, perhaps it is merely a matter of safety not to offend the children of witches.)

The letter continues: “You are probably wondering why your child has this note; have you ever heard the saying, ‘It takes a village to raise a child’?”

I’ve heard that saying. It’s an old proverb originating from the collectivist minds of African tribesmen, made fashionable by communist Hillary Clinton in her 1996 book, and advocated creepily this past spring in a TV spot for MSNBC in which Melissa Harris-Perry told the public in no uncertain terms that your children, sprung from your loins, belong to everybody.

“I am disappointed in ‘the Village’ of Fargo Moorhead, West Fargo,” writes Cheryl the creepy neighbor. “You [sic] child is, in my opinion, moderately obese and should not be consuming sugar and treats to the extent of some children this Halloween season.”

HSLDA:The polls are tightening towards Ken Cuccinelliand the race is going to come down to which side can get their political base out to vote.

Thank You for your incredible generosity!

Dear friends of HSLDA,

On occasion, I am absolutely floored by the outpouring of support for Generation Joshua’s homeschool students. This last week has been one of those times.

Last week, I asked you to consider supporting Generation Joshua, through the HSLDA VA PAC, in its efforts to elect Ken Cuccinelli, a homeschool dad, to become the next Governor of Virginia. As you know, we help equip and educate thousands of homeschool students every year by giving them hands on experience in citizen advocacy. This investment pays long term dividends by equipping the next generation of Americans as citizens, as well as electing a good man to office.

As a result of your incredible efforts, we have raised over $250,000.00 since last week.

I am humbled by your generosity and inspired by your dedication. I did not think it was possible, but your commitment to the next generation and to liberty has left me speechless.

Earlier this week, we had several GenJ students ask us how much money we still needed. We told them that we needed roughly $10K, and they decided to raise it here. I want to recognize their efforts. That sort of can do, never-give-up attitude is what makes Generation Joshua’s students so incredible!
We’ve crunched the numbers to determine a more precise amount, and we still need $13,764.97 (as of writing). If you want to partner with us in this great effort, we would greatly appreciate it. You can donate at www.hslda.org/vapac.

The polls are tightening and the race is going to come down to which side can get their political base out to vote. Generation Joshua has the well-deserved reputation of being the best conservative get-out-the-vote operation in the nation, and it is needed now. As hundreds of students move into this operation, I ask you lift them (and our administrative staff) up in your prayers. We can’t win the ground game of politics without God’s blessing on these efforts. Please pray for us throughout the next five days. We need it.
Sincerely,

Joel Grewe

Motorcycle chased down highway by elk in rut

Via Patriot Outdoor News

On Sunday, October 3rd, my boyfriend Glen and I decided to take a ride from Missoula, MT Ovando, MT. On our way back, we headed south on hwy 200. I was looking around at the gorgeous scenery when Glen started to slow down as he saw a truck stopped in front of us. We stopped behind the truck and saw a bull elk approach the truck. The person in the truck must have had some food because the elk jumped up on his hind legs and peered in to the drivers window. (I have that on video as well)

Then the elk jumped down and started to approach us. There were two actually. One was a bit smaller and had different looking antlers. I am not much of a hunter so I don't know why they appeared different than the other. I was surprised that the elk came so close to us and I could feel a great deal of tension between us and the animal. I am willing to bet that if Glen hadn't hit the throttle when he had, that elk would have jumped up on us. The elk chased us for a while and I don't know when he would have stopped hadn't I told Glen to lose it. I didn't want the animal to chase us on the road and put it in any danger so losing it seemed appropriate. I had enough excitement for one day!

Justice Alito: Self-Defense Is ‘The Central Component’ Of The 2nd Amendment

Man Opens Fire on Wis. Duck Hunters

Two hunters looking for ducks found trouble instead.

The harrowing hunting story happened in Barron County in Western Wisconsin. Two men were shot at numerous times while hunting legally, and the man who opened fire is facing minor charges.

Now, both sides are telling their stories.

It's the heart of duck hunting season. On Sunday, a marsh looked perfect for outdoorsman, "we knew it was going to be a great day, it started out good."

Yet within minutes of shooting two mallards the hunters became the hunted.

A stranger lurking in the nearby woods, got mouthy, "he went off on a rant about how we shouldn't be here, we should be in Afghanistan if we were gonna shoot something," says Levi Johnston.

Argues Spying Okay As Long As Government Doesn’t Get Caught

The chair of the House Intelligence Committee – Mike Rogers – said yesterday in an NSA spying hearing which he led that there is no right to privacy in America.

Constitutional expert Stephen I. Vladeck – Professor of Law and the Associate Dean for Scholarship at American University Washington College of Law – disagreed.

Here’s the exchange:

Rogers: I would argue the fact that we haven’t had any complaints come forward with any specificity arguing that their privacy has been violated, clearly indicates, in ten years, clearly indicates that something must be doing right. Somebody must be doing something exactly right.

Vladeck: But who would be complaining?

Rogers: Somebody who’s privacy was violated. You can’t have your privacy violated if you don’t know your privacy is violated.

Vladeck: I disagree with that. If a tree falls in the forest, it makes a noise whether you’re there to see it or not.

Norwegian man discovers $27 bitcoin investment now worth more than enough to buy a flat

Bought in 2009, currency's rise in value saw small investment turn into enough to buy an apartment in a wealthy area of Oslo

The meteoric rise in bitcoin has meant that within the space of four years, one Norwegian man’s $27 investment turned into a forgotten $886,000 windfall.

Kristoffer Koch invested 150 kroner ($26.60) in 5,000 bitcoins in 2009, after discovering them during the course of writing a thesis on encryption. He promptly forgot about them until widespread media coverage of the anonymous, decentralised, peer-to-peer digital currency in April 2013 jogged his memory.

Bitcoins are stored in encrypted wallets secured with a private key, something Koch had forgotten. After eventually working out what the password could be, Koch got a pleasant surprise:

"It said I had 5,000 bitcoins in there. Measuring that in today's rates it's about NOK5m ($886,000)," Koch told NRK.

Riot Control: DHS Spends $500,000 on Fully Automatic Pepper Spray Launchers

Via Cousin John

The Department of Homeland Security is increasing its preparations for domestic unrest by spending half a million dollars on fully automatic pepper spray launchers and projectiles that are designed to be used during riot control situations.

In an announcement of a no bid contract posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website, the federal agency signals its intention to purchase nearly 240,000 pepper spray projectiles, 100 pepper spray launchers, as well as 36 “riot expansion kits”.

The PepperBall TAC-700 pepper spray launcher “features full auto, semi-auto, or 3 round burst providing up to 700 rounds per minute,”according to the company which will provide the DHS with the weapons. It is also “accurate to 60 feet with area saturation up to 150 feet.” The weapon is routinely used in riot control situations around the world.

According to a video demonstration, the TAC-700 has a “strong psychological influence” on the people it is being used against because it is so loud and sounds like an automatic machine gun.

Confessed murderer Matthew Johnson

The jury watched in horror Monday as the prosecution played a surveillance camera video of 76-year-old grandmother and convenience store clerk Nancy Harris consumed in flames after being doused in lighter fluid and ignited by a monster robbing a Garland, Tex. Fina Whip In of petty cash.

“She died in hospital five days after she and her family decided to turn off life support,” Mail Online reported. There’s no need to repeat that report here. Go and read it, grasp what confessed murderer Matthew Johnson did to this poor woman, and then watch the video. Try to imagine her agony and her terror, and what her survivors have been forced to live through and with. Go ahead and get sick and then furious. It’s the reaction decent people would have.

Then compare the results here to another Fina station robbery attempt, this time in Shreveport, La.

Music Teacher Gets ‘Paula Deened’ for Facebook Comments Condemning Black Criminal Behavior

Music Teacher Daivd Spondike

An Akron, Ohio music teacher at a 52% Black high school was suspended after posting Facebook comments condemning the criminal behavior of certain "ghetto" trick-or-treaters that annually migrate to his neighborhood. David Spondike, who has been teaching in the district since 1998, had stark words for this year's Halloween visitors.

According to Ohio.com:

The initial post read: "I don't mind if you come from the ghetto to trick or treat. But when you whip out your teeny [genitalia] and [urinate] on the telephone pole in front of my front yard and a bunch of preschoolers and toddlers, you can take your [N-word] ass back where it came from. I don't have anything against anyone of color, but [racial slur] stay out."

He then says he "welcomes people who come from dangerous neighborhoods to mine, so their children can safely trick or treat. I feel sorry that they feel they need to do so, but they have been coming here for years."

But Spondike then cautions against people who come to his neighborhood and act unruly.

3-year-old Saudi girl gang-raped

Via Freedom Outpost

Several men abducted a three-year-old Saudi girl and took turns in raping her before dumping the child near a hospital in a serious condition.

Disclosing the crime on Monday, police said they had arrested three suspects and two women and that more could be arrested in connection with the rape.

Doctors at the hospital in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah said the child was found crying and in serious condition in front of the hospital on Ramadan 13, adding that she is still in the intensive care unit struggling for her life.

“She has been raped violently by some men. She was found crying of excruciating pain as her body was full of bruises and her sensitive parts were ruptured,” hospital manager Mohammed Ali said, quoted by the Saudi Arabic language daily Okaz.

A Tribute to the Irish Confederates

Song of the Confederate Irish Brigade

Music: David Kincaid Song of the Irish Brigade

Paintings: Don Troiani (Drive them to Washington/Altoona Pass/Little Round Top)

Lyrics:

Oh, not now for songs of a nation's wrongs,
not the groans of starving labor;
Let the rifle ring and the bullet sing
to the clash of the flashing sabre!

There are Irish ranks on the tented banks
of Columbia's guarded ocean;
And an iron clank from flank to flank
tells of armed men in motion.

And frank souls there clear true and bare
To all, as the steel beside them,
Can love or hate withe the strength of Fate,
Till the grave of the valiant hide them.
Each seems to be mailed Ard Righ,
whose sword's avenging glory
Must light the fight and smite for Right,
Like Brian's in olden story!

With pale affright and panic flight
Shall dastard Yankees base and hollow,
Hear a Celtic race, from their battle place,
Charge to the shout of "Faugh-a-ballaugh!"
By the sould above, by the land we love
Her tears bleeding patience
The sledge is wrought that shall smash to naught
The brazen liar of nations.

The Irish green shall again be seen
as our Irish fathers bore it,
A burning wind from the South behind,
and the Yankee rout before it!
O'Neil's red hand shall purge the land-
Rain a fire on men and cattle,
Till the Lincoln snakes in their own cold lakes
Plunge from the blaze of battle.

The knaves that rest on Columbia's breast,
and the voice of true men stifle;
we'll exorcise from the rescued prize-
Our talisman, the rifle;
For a tyrant's life a bowie knife!-
Of Union knot dissolvers,
The best we ken are stalwart men,
Columbiads and revolvers!

Whoe'er shall march by triumphal arch
Whoe'er may swell the slaughter,
Our drums shall roll from the Capitol
O'er Potomac's fateful water!
Rise, bleeding ghosts, to the Lord of Hosts
For judgement final and solemn;
Your fanatic horde to the edge of the sword
Is doomed line, square, and column!

Home Depot Co-Founder Langone: Obamacare 'Defies Whole Concept' of Cheaper Health Insurance

http://fm.cnbc.com/applications/cnbc.com/resources/img/editorial/2013/10/30/101155080-20131029-8244-375.240x160.jpg?v=1383133880

Obamacare, by its very nature, can't make healthcare more affordable and "defies the whole concept" of its key goal, says billionaire entrepreneur Ken Langone.

Many experts say healthy young people must sign up for health insurance en masse in order for Obamacare to be successful. If more people, who don't need as much healthcare as older generations, buy insurance, they will bring down insurance costs.

"Insurance is a fairly simple," the Home Depot co-founder told CNBC. "It's spreading risk. It's sharing risk."

"You're not going to bring 35 million more people into the pool for care and say, 'We're going to do it cheaper.' We're living longer. The longer we live, the more healthcare we need.

"Those kids can now wait for a condition, a pre-existing condition, and now say, 'I want insurance,'" Langone argued. "The risk to the insurance company goes up exponentially because the kid is coming in unhealthy, not healthy."

Obama Lied, 1.5 Million Lost Preferred Health Coverage

 http://askmarion.files.wordpress.com/2013/07/30a62-062812_obamacare-lied.jpg?w=433&h=397

“No matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise to the American people: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health-care plan, you will be able to keep your health-care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.”

Because of recent developments contrary to the promises in this quote, whoever said those words, it can be said of him that he was either wrong or lying; one or the other and nothing else.

Those developments are approximately, and only thus far, 1.5 million people having been dropped from their private health-insurance plans: 800,000 in New Jersey; 279,000 in California; 300,000 in Florida; 370,000 in Pennsylvania; 76,000 from D.C., Virginia, and Maryland; and these numbers are only rising.

The Plot to Assassinate Jefferson Davis

 Jefferson Davis

Re-post

On March 2, 1864, William Littlepage was searching the pockets of a dead Union officer just outside of Richmond, VA. But instead of a pocketwatch or other baubles, Littlepage discovered two mysterious documents. These papers, now known as the Dahlgren Papers, cast light on a plot designed to bring an end to the Confederate States of America. Were Union leaders planning to assassinate President Jefferson Davis?

The Dahlgren Affair?

By March 2, 1864, the Union had taken control of the Civil War and Confederate hopes of victory seemed increasingly dim. Ulysses S. Grant was just a week away from taking over the responsibilities of Commanding General of the United States Army. And President Lincoln, along with his top generals, had reached the conclusion that the only way to break the South was to wage total war.
It was with this backdrop that 13-year old Littlepage found himself searching the dead body of Colonel Ulric Dahlgren, who’d been killed earlier that day in a failed raid on Richmond, VA. After discovering the documents, Littlepage took them to his teacher, Edward Halbach. Halbach quickly examined the papers and realized he had a veritable bomb in front of him.

The papers described a plan to raid and torch Richmond, VA. The idea for the attack had originated from Brigadier General Judson Kilpatrick. Kilpatrick was known as “Kill-Cavalry” due to his willingness to sacrifice his own troops as well as Confederate troops in order to achieve his goals. The plan was for Dahlgren’s cavalry to enter the city from the south. After stopping to free Union prisoners and meet up with Kilpatrick, the enlarged force would descend upon Richmond in order to “destroy and burn the hateful city.”

Censoring the “S” Word

Via SHNV

 http://minutemennews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/2008secession.jpg

“It is a very significant fact that the adversaries of the trend toward more government control describe their opposition as a fight against Washington and against Berne, i.e., against centralization.  It is conceived as a contest of states’ rights versus the central power.”
“I saw in States’ rights the only availing check upon the absolutism of the sovereign will, and secession filled me with hope, not as the destruction but as the redemption of Democracy.”
  • Letter from Lord Acton to General Robert E.Lee, Nov. 4, 1866
Do Silicon Valley entrepreneurs want to bring back slavery, perhaps using the newly enslaved to assemble computers and other electronics?  One Anand Giridharadas, writing in the October 28 New York Times, would have you think so.  His opening sentences are:  “First the slave South, now this.  Is Silicon trying to secede from America?

Giridharadas is apparently horrified that a Silicon Valley entrepreneur named Balaji Srinivasan gave a speech at Stanford University recently in which he advocated “seceding from [American] society” and its looting and over-bloated welfare/warfare state.

As is typical of all statists, inside and outside of government, whenever the “S” word is mentioned Giridharadas, like all the rest, attempts to effectively censor all discussion of secession by insinuating that taking the idea seriously reveals that one must secretly condone slavery.  Or at least be an apologist for the Confederacy, an institution that has been demonized by the American state like no other for the past 160 years.  (The same American state that condoned and enforced slavery with Fugitive Slave Clauses and Acts from the end of the Revolutionary War (1783) until 1866).

Q-Poll: Cuccinelli Only Down Four Percentage Points?

 http://chanceseales.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/cuccinelli-family1.jpg

The polls have been all over the place this month. Thus it’s difficult to gauge exactly which direction the political headwinds are shifting in Virginia. But I'm beginning to wonder: Could Cuccinelli pull this thing off?
Let’s start with the latest top-line numbers (via Quinnipiac University):
The Virginia governor's race is going down to the wire with Democrat Terry McAuliffe clinging to a slight 45 - 41 percent likely voter lead over Republican State Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, and 9 percent for Libertarian Party candidate Robert Sarvis, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

This compares to the results of an October 23 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University, showing McAuliffe up 46 - 39 percent, with Sarvis at 10 percent.
Today's survey shows that if Sarvis were not in the race, McAuliffe would have 47 percent to 45 percent for Cuccinelli, too close to call.
In the three-way matchup, 4 percent of likely voters remain undecided and 7 percent of those who name a candidate say there's a "good chance" they will change their mind in the next six days.

Look who Sebelius just threw under the bus ... Places blame for Obamacare-website failure

Committee chairman Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich. got right to the point, declaring the Obamacare website is “still not working” as of this morning.

“It is the Verizon server that failed — not healthcare.gov” declared Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in testimony Wednesday morning before the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

She was referring to outages this weekend and again Tuesday, but was compelled to say “I apologize” for the disastrous performance of the Obamcare website since it’s debut on Oct. 1.

Sebelius also made sure to note, “I was not involved in the design of the website.”

A Rochester-based company that makes firearms, ammunition and tactical equipment is relocating its headquarters in Dorchester County, South Carolina officials announced Monday.

The state Department of Commerce said that the $2.7 million investment by American Tactical Imports, currently located on Airpark Drive, would mean more than 100 new jobs for the Summerville area.

At its new South Carolina facilities, ATI is also setting up a distribution center and a limited firearm assembly. The company is also moving its customer service operations and sales office to the Summerville site, officials said.

Burglar shot, killed in Selmont

Two burglars greeted a Selmont couple returning home from work early Saturday morning. In the exchange that ensued, one of the burglars was shot and killed, while the other one escaped and is considered armed and dangerous.

Sgt. Mike Grantham, with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, said the couple returned to their Lowery Drive home around 2:30 a.m. Due to the fact they have been the victims of burglaries before, the husband entered the home first.

Grantham said when the wife came into the house, she noticed glass from a glass door on the ground. It was then, Grantham said, the two burglars came from the back of the house, one of them attacking the husband.

“In the exchange, the husband was hit in the head and received a cut on the hand. He then was able to retrieve a pistol he was carrying and shot one of the burglars,” Grantham said. “The other suspect fled the scene.”

He said the burglar who was shot was pronounced dead at the scene by responding authorities.
