Rep. Brat: Despite Fake News, AG Jeff Sessions Restoring Integrity at DOJ

Via Mike

“The Department of Justice has been politically-tainted for eight years under the leadership of Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, now Attorney General Sessions is restoring integrity to the Department of Justice,” Brat said in the statement.

“AG Sessions was one of the first individuals to reach out to me after my election, and I consider him to be a true personal friend,” Brat said. “He is the principled man we need in such a key position of leadership in our country.”

Brat continued by saying he believes Sessions’ decision to recuse himself from any investigation of the Trump campaign — in which Sessions played a role — and Russian meddling was the right thing to do.

“Unfortunately, in this city there is very little incentive to do the right thing, especially if you are a Republican,” Brat said. “In retrospect, it is easy to Monday-morning quarterback on a decision made months ago.

And Brat also noted the role the media has played in the ongoing narrative about Trump and the Trump campaign’s alleged ties to Russia, calling it “fake news” and noting that the goal by the president’s enemies — including the Left-wing media — is for him to be forced from his duly elected office.

“One thing is for sure: when AG Sessions erred on the side of caution by recusing himself, he never could have foreseen the 24/7 full-throated obsession over Russia by the mainstream media,” Brat said.

Robert Lewis Dabney: A Prophet for Our Own Times

A number of years ago I became interested in the writings of the great Southern author and philosopher Robert Lewis Dabney (d. 1898). Dabney, if he is much known at all these days, is famous because he was chaplain to Confederate general, Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson, and because he penned a Life of General Thomas J. Jackson (1866) and then for his famous apologia for the old South, A Defense of Virginia, and Through Her, of the South (1867). The great Southern scholar Richard Weaver discusses Dabney briefly in his masterful volume, The Southern Tradition at Bay (edited and published in 1968, and republished since then), and it is there that more recent interest in Dabney has its origin.

During my graduate studies at the University of Virginia I prepared a paper on Dabney; and since then, I have re-written it and had it published several times in different publications and in different formats. It has seen the light of day in the old Southern Partisan magazine, in The Southern Mercury, on the Communities Digital News web site, at The Unz Review, and most recently, on The Abbeville Institute.

In it, I spend some time examining Dabney’s withering criticism of public education and the public schools—that was back in the 1880s!

Grassley: Ukrainian “political leadership” opposed Trump and worked with DNC to undermine campaign

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley wrote to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein raising concerns over yet another instance of deficient enforcement of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) as it relates to the 2016 presidential election.

Media reports suggest that Ukrainian “political leadership” opposed the candidacy of Donald Trump for president of the United States and worked with a Democratic National Committee consultant to undermine his campaign.  This consultant allegedly had various meetings with Ukrainian government officials, including embassy staff, to coordinate the dissemination of incriminating information about Trump campaign officials.

I Was Once Transgender. Why I Think Trump Made the Right Decision for the Military.

Via Billy

I think he made the right decision—and as someone who lived as trans-female for several years, I should know.

When I discovered Congress voted earlier this month to not block funding for transgender-related hormone therapies and sex change surgeries, I wondered if it considered how devastating this will be to the fitness, readiness, and morale of our combat-ready troops.

In July, the House of Representatives voted down Missouri Republican Rep. Vicky Hartzler’s amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, which would have banned the military from funding such treatments.

Paying for transition-related surgeries for military service members and their families is beyond comprehensible.

Brexit Boom: Amazon, BMW and Quorn Announce Major Investments in ‘Brilliant’ Britain

EU loyalists disparaging post-referendum Britain as “the sick man of Europe” have received a body blow as a series of major international companies announce major investments and recruitment initiatives in the country.

Amazon UK supremo Doug Gurr said he was continuing to attract “plenty of applicants” from British and global talent for roles in London, where the online giant has just opened a new fifteen-floor headquarters.

Mr Gurr announced that Amazon would be seeking to recruit some 450 to 900 tech employees in order to soup up their Prime Video service, describing London as a “brilliant location for talent because of its universities, its strength in engineering and science and its reputation in fashion. It’s a place we feel good about, and the food is good.”

The company already has already committed to creating at least 5,000 new jobs in Britain en route to establishing a permanent workforce of some 24,000 across the country.

Republican Sen. Steve Daines to make Democrats vote on single payer

Via Billy

Sen. Steve Daines is proposing an amendment to the Republican healthcare bill that would implement a government-run, single-payer insurance system in the U.S.

The Montana Republican doesn't support single-payer healthcare. But in a bit of political gamesmanship often seen in Congress, Daines wants to force vulnerable Democratic senators running for re-election in red states in 2018 to take a position on the liberal healthcare policy, which is gaining currency on the Left.

Woman’s “Top 10 Reasons I Am No Longer A Leftist”

Our friends at americanthinker.com have a fantastic column by Dr. Danusha V. Goska. She was a life-long leftist and recently wrote that she has abandoned that philosophy. Here, she gives her top ten reasons. It’s long, but I highly recommend it.
How far left was I? So far left my beloved uncle was a card-carrying member of the Communist Party in a Communist country. When I returned to his Slovak village to buy him a mass card, the priest refused to sell me one. So far left that a self-identified terrorist proposed marriage to me. So far left I was a two-time Peace Corps volunteer and I have a degree from UC Berkeley. So far left that my Teamster mother used to tell anyone who would listen that she voted for Gus Hall, Communist Party chairman, for president. I wore a button saying “Eat the Rich.” To me it wasn’t a metaphor.

I voted Republican in the last presidential election.

Below are the top ten reasons I am no longer a leftist. This is not a rigorous comparison of theories. This list is idiosyncratic, impressionistic, and intuitive. It’s an accounting of the milestones on my herky-jerky journey.

Trump banned transgender service members to secure funding to build border wall, Politico reports http://www.politico.com/story/2017/07/26/trump-transgender-military-ban-behind-the-scenes-240990

It’s no surprise the mainstream media has not yet figured out President Trump is a keen strategist with his eye always on the prize. And that prize, is the wall.

A new report shines light on the behind-the-scenes battle over border wall funding and how today’s banning of transgenders in the military all ties together.

Rally To Save J.E.B. Stuart High School in Fairfax, Virginia

You might have heard a member of the School Board claim that 'Thirty Five Percent of the Community Voted for JEB Stuart Name Change'.

While that claim sounds "Compelling" - it's actually misleading on its face and includes "input" from an audience groomed for nearly a year on falsehoods, misinformation and opinion all disguised as fact. Even the "survey" used dishonestly presented unfounded and unproven claims as "fact" despite warnings given to the SB leadership on the spurious nature of the survey "tool" that was sent out to validate a path to name change. This pre-arranged voting block was given a head's up to the school board's "survey" ahead of time and told how to "vote" before any other JEB Pyramid member.

Mo Brooks would leave Senate race to reinstate Sessions

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) is offering to withdraw from Alabama's special Senate election to make way for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to take the Republican nomination for his former seat — if the other GOP contenders vow to do the same.

Brooks's proposition comes as President Trump ratchets up criticism of his attorney general, signaling a potential push by the White House to oust Sessions from the Justice Department.

Jamey Johnson House of Blues Concert Cancelled After He Refused to Disarm

Via Billy

Country artist Jamey Johnson’s July 23 concert at House of Blues, Myrtle Beach, (HOBMB) was cancelled after he apparently refused to disarm while in the venue.

HOBMB said they would issue refunds to ticket holders beginning at 12 pm Eastern on July 24.
On Sunday, HOBMB announced the cancellation via a Facebook post: “As always, the safety and security of our guests is our number one priority. Tonight’s artist refused to adhere to our safety and security guidelines and would not enter the building. Unfortunately, tonight’s show is cancelled.”

Tony TC Coleman is a member of Johnson’s band, and he responded to the HOBMB Facebook post by relaying a first-hand account of what happened:
AS A MEMBER OF JAMEY’S BAND, HOUSE OF BLUES MANAGEMENT “LIVE NATION ” WAS WRONG FOR HOW THEY TREATED THE SITUATION. JAMEY WAS READY TO GIVE AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE AS HE HAS DONE EVERY NIGHT SINCE THE YEAR AND 3 MONTHS I’VE BEEN IN HIS BAND. I STAND WITH HIM ON THIS. HOUSE OF BLUES DID’NT NEED TO TREAT US LIKE WE WERE TERRORIST. THEY PUT A MEDAL DETECTOR BETWEEN JAMEY’S BUSSES AND THE STAGE ENTRANCE AND THE ONLY PEOPLE COMING IN AND OUT OF HIS BUSES WAS US. HIS BAND AND CREW AND WE ALL HAVE LAMINATED STAGE IDENTIFICATION. IF SOMEONE CAME BACKSTAGE TO HARM ANYBODY YOU BETTER PRAY THERE IS A JAMEY JOHNSON TYPE INDIVIDUAL AROUND.
A representative for Johnson did not immediately return a request for comment.

A group of House conservatives has filed an amendment asking the Justice Department for information related to former FBI Director James Comey's handling of the Hillary Clinton email case.

The amendment, first reported by the Washington Post, demands information on "leaks by James B. Comey," on "the propriety and consequence of immunity deals given to possible Hillary Clinton co-conspirators" and Comey's decision to "usurp the authority of then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch in his unusual announcement that criminal charges would not be brought against" Clinton.

Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., a co-sponsor of the amendment, told the Washington Examinerhe aims to "push back" against "accusations" that are distracting from the agenda of President Trump and Republicans in Congress.

Screen Shot RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel: 'We Have To Get To Bottom' Of Wasserman Schultz Staffer (Fox Business: July 26, 2017)

RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel urged Americans to pay attention to a scandal involving a Rep. Wasserman Schultz staffer smashing hard drives and trying to flee the country.

As uncovered by The Daily Caller News Foundation’s investigative team, FBI agents recently seized smashed hard drives from the home of Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s IT administrator. Imran Awan has repeatedly tried to retrieve the smashed drives, and on Monday night, he was arrested at Dulles Airport for bank fraud while trying to flee the country to Pakistan.

McDaniel decried the fact that the story has been largely ignored by the media and the Democrats.

Transgender recruitment in US military delayed by six months

Via Billy

http://www.washingtonblade.com/content/files/2014/10/transgender_service_members_international_conference_insert_c_Washington_Blade_by_Michael_Key.jpg

Defense secretary Jim Mattis is giving the military another six months to conduct a review to determine if allowing transgender individuals to enlist in the armed services will affect its “readiness and lethality”.

Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said Mattis made the decision on Friday. The delay in allowing the enlistment of new recruits does not affect transgender troops who are already serving openly in the military.

Mattis said in a memo obtained by The Associated Press: “After consulting with the service chiefs and secretaries, I have determined that it is necessary to defer the start of accessions for six months. We will use this additional time to evaluate more carefully the impact of such accessions on readiness and lethality.”

In the memo, Mattis said he believed the department must measure “each policy decision against one standard” — whether it affects the readiness of the military to defend the nation.
