‘It’s Like Prohibition’ As Maryland Gun Buyers Hoard Firearms Ahead Of Next Week’s Ban

With only a week to go before new gun laws that limit “assault weapons” and require fingerprints and licenses for handguns take effect, Maryland residents are buying firearms at an unprecedented rate.

The Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday that the last-minute rush to beat the gun grab has resulted in residents snapping up weapons at a rate of more than 1,000 per day, outpacing the same sales figures for the same period a year ago by a 7-to-1 margin.

VMFA Update 9/25/2013

As fall makes its way to the Capital of the Confederacy, the Virginia Flaggers approach the anniversary which will mark two years of Flagging the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.  For the past two years, Flaggers have stood vigil outside of the museum at least TWICE a week, forwarding the colors, educating the public, and protesting the forced removal of Confederate flags from the portico of the Confederate Memorial Chapel.  Along the way, we have brought national attention to the situation at the Chapel, and have once again made Confederate Flags a common, even expected part of the landscape in Richmond, ALL in an effort to make sure the honor and valor of the Confederate soldier is NOT forgotten!

5 charged with murder in home invasion slaying; 1 was shot by victim

 Cecil County murder case

Five people have been charged with murder in connection with a deadly, drug-related home invasion robbery in Cecil County Tuesday.

The suspects include an Aberdeen man who is in critical condition after exchanging gunfire with the victim of the home invasion, who later died, according to the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Kenneth Lee Curry, 19, was targeted because the suspects believed his North East home contained drugs and money. He was shot inside his home in the botched robbery and later died, according to the Cecil Whig.

One of the suspects, William L. Dodson, 21, of Rosedale, allegedly bought illegal drugs at the home, then texted the other suspects, who came in and ordered everyone in the home to get on the floor.

IRS Watchdog: $67 Million Missing from Obamacare Slush Fund

The IRS is unable to account for $67 million spent from a slush fund established for Obamacare implementation, according to a TIGTA report released today.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The IRS is unable to account for $67 million spent from a slush fund established for Obamacare implementation, according to a Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) report released today.

The “Health Insurance Reform Implementation Fund” (HIRIF) was tucked into Obamacare in order to give the IRS money to enforce the tax provisions of the healthcare law.  The fund, totaling some $1 billion of taxpayer money, was used to roll out enforcement mechanisms for the approximately 50 tax provisions of Obamacare.

According to the report:  “Specifically, the IRS did not account for or attempt to quantify approximately $67 million [from the slush fund] of indirect ACA costs incurred for Fiscal Years 2010 through 2012.”

The report also found several other abuses of taxpayer funds, including:

Make DC Listen

For too long, Washington has not been listening to the American people. The facts are clear -- Obamacare is not working.

It was an honor to stand on the Senate floor this week to give you a voice and make the case that Washington should listen to the American people. We must defund Obamacare.

Americans across the country are being hurt because of Obamacare. And because of it, the American people are disgusted with Washington.

Millions of Americans who oppose Obamacare have been told by politicians in Washington that "it doesn't matter," that "it can't be done," and "we can't defund it."

Please take a minute to watch our video of the floor debate this week and share it on social media with the hashtag #MakeDCListen.

The Senate is currently debating the bipartisan House-passed bill to defund Obamacare and fully fund the government. The Senate should pass it. As early as tomorrow, there will be a final cloture vote to cut off debate, which would allow Senator Harry Reid to add Obamacare funding back into the House bill. I will oppose final cloture to protect the House bill and keep debate going.

The American people are rising up and making their voices heard in Congress.

It is time for Washington politicians from both parties to listen to the American people.

Thank you.

For Liberty,

Ted Cruz

P.S. - We need your help spreading our #MakeDCListen video far and wide to make sure your voice is heard in Congress. Please share this video on Facebook and tweet your support right now.

Congress unveils bill to limit NSA's powers

Via Bill

A bipartisan group of senators introduces a bill that would prohibit the bulk collection of e-mail and phone records of US citizens.

Several US senators are trying to clamp down on the activities of the National Security Agency through a new bill.

Unveiled in Congress on Wednesday, the Intelligence Oversight and Surveillance Reform Act aims to stop the NSA's bulk collection of the records of US citizens. Specifically, the bill wants to amend certain sections of the Foreign Intelligence Services Act (FISA), which the NSA has used to justify its data gathering.

One amendment to FISA would prohibit the bulk collection of phone records, while another would prevent the bulk gathering of e-mail records. In the case of phone records, the government would still be able to get the records of anyone suspected of terrorism or anyone in contact with a suspected terrorist.

The bill would also end a loophole for "back door searches," which allow the government to access the records of American citizens without a warrant. The government would only be allowed to gather records that are to or from a suspected terrorist, rather than those that are simply "about the target."

Undercover probe: Colleges suppress ex-'gay' info

An undercover investigation conducted by a group promoting “Ex-Gay Awareness Month” charges that many of Virginia’s state universities are promoting homosexuality even though they are required to deliver accurate information that represents both sides of the issue.

The investigation by Voice of the Voiceless, conducted over several weeks this month, had two former homosexuals pose as graduate students seeking “anonymous counseling for unwanted homosexual feelings at university resource centers.”

Visited by the investigators were centers at the University of Virginia, James Madison University, George Mason University, Virginia Commonwealth, Old Dominion, Christopher Newport and the College of William and Mary.

“State-funded universities are required to provide value-neutral, medically accurate information to all students in need of guidance,” said Christopher Doyle, president of the group. “What we uncovered was a deliberate withholding of potentially life-saving information for students who may desire counseling to overcome unwanted homosexual feelings.”

Vote 'no' on cloture; stand strong on defunding ObamaCare!

Vote 'no' on cloture; stand strong on defunding ObamaCare!

Help defund ObamaCare; tell your senators to vote 'no' on cloture on September 27 or 28.
Chances are that you're aware of Ted Cruz's 21-hour filibuster on the Senate floor this week in the cause of defunding ObamaCare. Media reporting has been all over the map regarding Cruz's marathon speech. The best way to understand what he's doing and how he hopes to defund ObamaCare is to read his own press release posted on his own Senate website soon after his historic speech.

During a radio interview a short time after his marathon speech ended, Cruz told the listeners to call their senators with this message: "Vote 'no' on cloture; stand strong on defunding ObamaCare!"

The situation is that the House passed a Continuing Resolution (H.J. Res. 59) to continue funding the government until December 15, which also includes a provision to defund ObamaCare in fiscal 2014. This House bill is now in the Senate's court. On September 25 the Senate voted to end debate on the bill by a vote of 100-0. However, the key cloture vote to proceed to a vote on the bill will come Friday or Saturday (September 27 or 28).

Treason or Stupidity?

 Fired Generals

As a nation, we can afford bouts of economic downturns, civil strife and even some degree of political mistrust of our leaders. A nation can take definitive steps to recover these maladies. However, the one thing that America cannot tolerate is the compromising of our military, and since Obama has been president, the effectiveness of our military has been greatly compromised.

A Crisis of Military Leadership

The number of generals either drummed out of the service or forced into early retirement since Obama took office is growing by the month. Untruthful pretexts have been manufactured by the Obama administration to usher out many of our top military commanders. Many of these generals were among our most effective and experienced military leaders. Almost all of these generals are being replaced by men with less military experience and this fact alone leads to a less effective military.

This unprecedented parade of musical chairs, being played out against our military leaders, began when Obama demanded the resignation of General McKiernan. This marked the first time, since the time of the Korean War when General Douglas MacArthur was fired by President Truman in a disagreement over strategy, that a battlefield general was fired by a president. The strategy backfired in Korea and it backfired in Afghanistan as McKiernan was deemed to be to old school to suit Obama. He was old school to Obama because he wanted to kill the enemy while minimizing American losses. Obama wanted to adopt a policy which allowed the enemy to open fire first which, before Americans could return fire. This has surely caused the casualty rate to rise.

NC: Indictment: Shooting victims picked by race

What most people in Greenville, N.C., thought they knew about why Lakim Faust allegedly shot four people near a Walmart parking lot is wrong.

Faust tried to kill them because they were white, a grand jury indictment released this week has revealed. This contradicts earlier police reports the shootings were random.

According to WRAL: “Faust, who is black, picked out his victims based on their race, according to the indictments. The documents didn’t specify why Faust wanted to shoot white people, and police have not talked about why he picked out his targets.”

Prosecutors made this determination after searching his apartment and computer. Police also found a copy of the Quran and other Muslim books in his residence.

Filmmaker blamed for Benghazi out of jail and talking

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula was the only person to end up in jail after the attack by Islamic jihadists in Benghazi one year ago that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.

After President Obama and his top aides blamed the attack on Nakoula’s “Innocence of Muslims” movie trailer posted on Youtube, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton promised the filmmaker would be arrested and prosecuted.

But on his last full day in custody – not for anything to do with Benghazi but for parole violations in a fraud case – Nakoula told WND he made the movie and wrote his new book, “Innocence,” to warn America about the threat of Islamic jihad.

“We don’t need Sept. 11 again. We don’t need Nidal Hasan again,” he told WND, referring to the Muslim Army officer who killed 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas.

The Egyptian-born Coptic Christian said Americans also need to be more aware of Islamic persecution of Christians in Egypt.

He dedicates his book — described on the cover as “the original script and storyboards for ‘Innocence of Muslims’”–  to Stevens and the three other Americans who died in the Sept. 11, 2012, attack, Tyrone Woods, Glen Doherty and Sean Smith.

GRNC Alert 9-26-13 NC School Boards Assoc Uses YOUR MONEY To Attack Gun Rights

Creates "North Carolina School Board’s Action Center”, a new 501(c)(4) organization designed to divert Education funds to promote personal anti-gun agenda…

Since Governor Pat McCrory signed HB 937 into law, the North Carolina School Board Association has been touting its newly formed North Carolina School Board’s Action Center (NCSBAC), a new 501(c)(4) organization designed to “strengthen local school board advocacy efforts”.  The group receives its funding from individual county school boards through the collection of property taxes.  Among their stated primary objectives is to advocate for the repeal of NCGS 14-269.2, which recently granted law-abiding North Carolinian’s with limited campus carry provisions.

That’s right, the NCSBAC is devising a scheme to misappropriate tax dollars collected for education purposes to fund their anti-gun agenda!  The brainchild of Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board Vice-Chairman Tim Morgan and political director Leanne Winner, who has been crisscrossing the state spewing her propaganda during district-wide legislative reviews, has made the organization’s intentions clear:  to attack the limited Campus Carry provisions which go into effect on October 1st.

Specifically, she has advised local school board members that “NCGS 14.269.2 is a safety concern for public schools”.  She repeatedly and mockingly states that the reason for allowing concealed carry permit holders to retain their guns in a locked car was to provide them with the opportunity to "save the day" in the event of a school shooting.   But, in her opinion, the real effect of the legislation was to create a situation where adults angry over the outcome of a high school football game could settle their disputes by “shooting it out in the parking lots".  Winner goes on to say that NCSBA will use their 501(c)(4) organization to repeal this provision of  NC GS 14-269.2.

Enough is enough!

While the continued economic downward turn is forcing teacher layoffs and reduced funding to schools across the state, the notion that what little funds remain be spent on pressing a personal political agenda becomes all the more incredulous. Our tax dollars can be utilized in a multitude of more efficient ways to raise and maintain the educational standards of our children than to have them diverted into such pet projects filled with outright anti-gun propaganda.

You CAN make a difference! Using the suggested message and contact information below, contact your local School Board and county commissioners today and demand that they no longer fund the NCBAS until such time as they turn their attention away from personal political projects and return to working to better the educational system in North Carolina in a more meaningful way.

McConnell: No Congressional Subsidies for Obamacare

Now, don't support Obamacare, period.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Wednesday that members of Congress should not receive any taxpayer-financed subsidies to pay for Obamacare.

"I don't think members of Congress ought to be treated any differently in any way from anybody else in America," the Kentucky Republican told former Secretary of Education Bill Bennett on his morning radio program. "We should not get any carve-outs from Obamacare."

Audio of McConnell's comments were provided by his Capitol Hill office.

Senate Website Gets Second Amendment Wrong

Via WiscoDave

A web page covering the Constitution gets the scope of the Second Amendment wrong, telling readers that it is not clear whether the amendment protects an individual right or a collective right.

Here is what the Senate's web page on the Constitution says about the Second Amendment: "Whether this provision protects the individual's right to own firearms or whether it deals only with the collective right of the people to arm and maintain a militia has long been debated."

This is simply not true on at least two levels.

Number one, the scope of the Second Amendment has not been seriously questioned until Alisky-minded radicals isolated it from among the other amendments in the Bill of Rights and began attacking it.
