With Trump in, the status quo is over in America.

Everything the country once trusted and revered is being tossed overboard at a pace that probably hasn't been seen since the 1960s.

Is it a cultural shift? Who cares ... that's a crusty old term that only the elite used or even understood. Let's toss it out, along with anything else we ever trusted.

Out with the old, in with anything else, as long as it's new and hasn't lied to us yet.

President Trump has fostered some of this thinking, but even Trump is just a sign of the times. He rose by pointing out what stand-up comics have known for years: The government can't do anything right.

It wouldn't have worked just a few years earlier. But now that Trump is in, it's hard to imagine anyone running on the bland old promise that government will somehow figure it all out and make things better.

Data manipulated by $PLC on Confederate monument timeline in order to buttress false assumption?

Monument to Jefferson Davis (1808-1889), the first and only president of the Confederacy: The tallest poured in place concrete obelisk in the world.

In the wake of the current controversy over Confederate monuments, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has created a timeline that has made its way around the worldwide web like wildfire.

It purports to show that two spikes in the building of the monuments coincide with occurences of racially-charged historical eras, such as the rise of the Ku Klux Klan and the Civil Rights Era.  The timeline has been published on websites such as Mother Jones and Daily Kos, and has been endlessly tweeted and re-tweeted on Twitter.  The premise that it rests on – that racism and white supremacy were the driving motivation of the building of Confederate monuments – has been blindly accepted with, evidently, little or no critical thinking.

Below is SPLC’s timeline as found on Mother Jones.  As can be seen, it alleges that a major spike in Confederate monument building happened during an era of lynching and KKK resurgence that occurred between the years of around 1900 and 1915.

Law Professor: Police Should Track Gun Purchases, Knock on Your Door After ‘Too Many’

 Scott Olson/Getty Images/AFP

During the October 9 airing of Tucker Carlson Tonight, law professor Richard Painter suggested police ought to be able to track gun purchases and knock on an individual’s door if that person acquires “too many.”

The professor would not define what “too many” guns would be, only that police should be able to knock on your door based on gun purchases.

Painter said:
I don’t think anybody’s going to come up with a solution that’s going to eliminate all gun violence, but we have a lot of it and this keeps happening. At a minimum, we ought to information on people like Mr. Paddock who are acquiring dozens of weapons over a very shot period of time. It amazes me that the police didn’t know that he was acquiring that many weapons over such a short period of time. That information ought to be available.
Carlson responded, “How many weapons in what period of time should trigger a visit to your house from authorities?”

VA conceals shoddy care and health workers' mistakes

Behind the walls of the nation's oldest veterans’ hospital, the reports were grim.

Medical experts from the Department of Veterans Affairs blamed one botched surgery after another on a lone podiatrist.

They said Thomas Franchini drilled the wrong screw into the bone of one veteran. He severed a critical tendon in another. He cut into patients who didn’t need surgeries at all. Twice, he failed to properly fuse the ankle of a woman, who chose to have her leg amputated rather than endure the pain.

In 88 cases, the VA concluded, Franchini made mistakes that harmed veterans at the Togus hospital in Maine. The findings reached the highest levels of the agency.

"We found that he was a dangerous surgeon," former hospital surgery chief Robert Sampson said during a deposition in an ongoing federal lawsuit against the VA.

Agency officials didn’t fire Franchini or report him to a national database that tracks problem doctors.

Justifying Betrayal of Vietnam Emerges as the Raison d’ĂȘtre Of Ken Burns’ Film on the War

The only positive thing I can say about Ken Burns’ documentary on the Vietnam War is this — if it is the best the left has, we may blessedly have heard the last of them. The arguments Mr. Burns presents are weak, biased, and insulting. The documentary is scripted to evoke sorrow and moral indignation over what was presented as American error, ineptness, and lack of moral purpose.

Conservative groups demand McConnell step down as Senate GOP leader

If this was a football team, and you’d lost this many times, you’d start seriously considering firing the coaches.

The leaders of several conservative groups called Wednesday for Mitch McConnell to step down as Senate majority leader, arguing the Kentucky Republican and the rest of his team should be ousted from their posts because they have not implemented the conservative agenda they promised.

“We call on all five members of the GOP Senate leadership to step down, or for their caucus to remove them as soon as possible,” Ken Cuccinelli, the former attorney general of Virginia who now leads the Senate Conservatives Fund, said at a Wednesday press conference on Capitol Hill.

A longtime firefighter said Wednesday he had never seen a victim so badly burned when he found a young Mississippi woman lying on the ground, barely able to speak, after being intentionally set on fire.

Daniel Cole testified Wednesday about the death of 19-year-old Jessica Chambers at the capital murder trial of the man accused of killing her on Dec. 6, 2014.

"She was sitting on a blanket. Her hair was singed ... soot all around her nose and her mouth ... blistering all over her body," Cole, director of emergency operations for Panola County, told jurors.

An ESPN commentator blasted Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones this week, comparing him to a slave owner for his response to national anthem protests in the National Football League.

“The word that comes to my mind, and I don’t care who doesn’t like me using it, is ‘plantation,’” ESPN commentator Michael Wilbon said Monday. “The players are here to serve me, they will do what I want no matter how much I pay them. They are not equal to me. That’s what this says to me and to mine.”

Without question, the left in America utterly despise the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, and constantly seek ways in which to undermine the fundamental right that is guaranteed to all citizens of this great country.

While most attempts at restricting the right of the people to keep and bear arms have been stymied over the past several years, anti-gun liberals are becoming increasingly desperate in the arguments they make in favor of infringement, and have now turned to dredging up old and debunked race-baiting reasons to subvert our gun rights.

John Stossel: Why do so many people see secession as a terrible thing?

The United States was born when the Founding Fathers seceded from England.

So why do so many people now see secession as a terrible thing?

Recently, people in Catalonia voted to break away from Spain -- not to declare war on Spain or refuse to trade with Spain, just to control their own affairs.

The Spanish government said they must not even vote. They sent police to shut down polling places and beat protestors into staying off the streets.

Governments never want to give up power.

Last year Donald Trump hit upon the growing anti-establishment zeitgeist and rode it all the way into the White House. His election victory sent tremors through the political elites of both major parties.

Trump’s anti-establishment populist message resonated with an electorate that had grown tired of being pandered to and lied to by politicians who more often than not treated their constituents as the problem to which the only solution was the imposition of ever growing government control.Last year Donald Trump hit upon the growing anti-establishment zeitgeist and rode it all the way into the White House.
