For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty as Acting Platoon Leader, First Platoon, Company K, Third Battalion, Fourth Marines, Third Marine Division, in the Republic of Vietnam on 18 July 1966. Second Lieutenant (then Staff Sergeant) McGinty's platoon, which was providing rear security to protect the withdrawal of the battalion from a position which had been under attack for three days, came under heavy small arms, automatic weapons and mortar fire from an estimated enemy regiment.

With each successive human wave which assaulted his thirty-two-man platoon during the four- hour battle, Second Lieutenant McGinty rallied his men to beat off the enemy. In one bitter assault, two of the squads became separated from the remainder of the platoon. With complete disregard for his safety, Second Lieutenant McGinty charged through intense automatic weapons and mortar fire to their position. Finding twenty men wounded and the medical corpsmen killed, he quickly reloaded ammunition magazines and weapons for the wounded men and directed their fire upon the enemy.

Although he was painfully wounded as he moved to care for the disabled men, he continued to shout encouragement to his troops and to direct their fire so effectively that the attacking hordes were beaten off. When the enemy tried to out flank his position, he killed five of them at point-blank range with his pistol. When they again seemed on the verge of overrunning the small force, he skillfully adjusted artillery and air strikes within fifty yards of his position.

This destructive fire power routed the enemy, who left an estimated 500 bodies on the battlefield. Second Lieutenant McGinty's personal heroism, indomitable leadership, selfless devotion to duty, and bold fighting spirit inspired his men to resist the repeated attacks by a fanatical enemy, reflected great credit upon himself, and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.

Jennifer Montalto, owner of Jenny-Lu’s bakery in Middlebury, CT is receiving some backlash for baking a pro 2nd Amendment cake for a local Friends of NRA birthday dinner.

Elizabeth Mais wanted to order her husband Bill an AR-15 crafted cake for his 51st birthday, but she was turned down by a number of local bakers who didn’t approve of her idea.  Determined to find someone to create the highly detailed dessert, Mais came across Montalto who said she had no problem creating the sporting rifle cake with a ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ flag draped on top.  “I don’t think about politics when I’m doing my cakes,” she said Tuesday. “A friend contacted me about it because they couldn’t find anyone to make it… It was a challenge.”

After creating the cake Montalto received some hate online via Facebook and Yelp reviews (which have since been removed).  She was labeled “insensitive” and guilty of “ridiculing the tragedy in Newtown.”

Shaken by the backlash Montalto stated, “I cried for three days straight when everything happened.  But in my mind, it wasn’t the gun that killed people, it was a very sick individual.”

Montalto and Jenny-Lu’s bakery has since received some positive attention from local gun owners — feel free to head over to her Facebook page and show her some support.

Ex- CNN Reporter: I Received Orders to Manipulate News to Demonize Syria and Iran

Photo

VERBATIM

Ex-CNN reporter Amber Lyon revealed that during her work for the channel she received orders to send false news and exclude some others which the US administration did not favor with the aim to create a public opinion in favor of launching an aggression on Iran and Syria.

Lyon was quoted by the Slovak main news website as saying that the mainstream US media outlets intentionally work to create a propaganda against Iran to garner public opinion's support for a military invasion against it.

She revealed that the scenario used before launching the war on Iraq is being prepared to be repeated where Iran and Syria are now being subject to constant 'demonization'.

Mr. Seward’s Threadbare Compliant of British Recognition

 http://docsouth.unc.edu/imls/clarke/clarktp.jpg

The Lincoln administration entertained many outright fictions from its peculiar ten-percent of a State’s population (in areas occupied by Northern troops) able to establish a new “Vichy” government; creating the new State of West Virginia without the consent of the State in which the area resided; to claiming that its war against the South was waged against mere domestic insurgents and not belligerents entitled to recognition and trade with foreign powers. After the war, the US government pursued claims against England for trading with the insurgents.
Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman
North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission
"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial"

Mr. Seward’s Threadbare Compliant of British Recognition:

“After sketching the origin of what he calls the “domestic insurrection,” Mr. [Hamilton] Fish [in 1870] says: -- “In such a contest [as the War Between the States], the Government of the United States was entitled to expect the earnest goodwill, sympathy and moral support of Great Britain.”

After expressing the “painful astonishment” which the manifest absence of that sympathy produced, Mr. Fish gives an elaborate rechauffee of Mr. [William] Seward’s complaints against Great Britain, beginning with the allegation that the Declaration of Neutrality and the admission of the South to belligerent rights were premature and unfriendly to the United States, that they gave encouragement to the “insurgents,” and enabled them to prolong the contest…..

But Lord Clarendon, in his answer, gave some additional reasons why the complaint was in itself unreasonable, and why the grounds upon which it was advanced is untenable...

Lord Clarendon said that at the time when the Queen was advised to issue the Proclamation of Neutrality, hostilities had actually begun, that the Confederate States had established a defacto Government, with all the machinery of civil and military power; that Fort Sumter had fallen, and the Confederate troops were in occupation of the Shenandoah valley, and were threatening Washington; that the Confederate President had called for a levy of 32,000 troops, to which the seceded States had promptly responded; that the Federal President had called for 75,000 volunteers, and then for 42,000 more; that as fast as the regiments could be armed they marched to the defence of Washington, and that the contending armies were, indeed, “face to face.”

In respect to the operations at sea, he said that “on the 17th of April the Confederate President had issued a Proclamation offering to grant letters of marque, and two days after the Federal President had declared the Southern ports to be in a state of blockade; that one or more British ships had actually been captured while attempting to run the blockade; that Confederate privateers were already at sea; that one had been captured on the 8th of May by the [US] ship Harriet Lane; that a few days after the American barque Ocean Eagle, of Rockland, Maine, was captured by the Confederate privateer Calhoun, of New Orleans, and that at the same port the Sumter was fitting out for her cruise.

Lord Clarendon especially drew attention to the following facts: He said: -- “Mr Seward, writing at the time, and previously to the Queen’s Proclamation” (May 4), “characterized the proceedings of the Confederates as “open, flagrant, deadly war,” and as “civil war.” (Congress Papers, 1861, p. 165); It was also judicially decided by the Supreme Court of the United States,  in the case of the Amy Warwick and other prizes, that “the proclamation of blockade was in itself official and conclusive evidence that a state of war existed which demanded and authorized such a measure.”

In view of the foregoing, Lord Clarendon said: -- “The date at which the Civil War actually commenced has, therefore, been fixed by the published dispatches of the Secretary of State, by proceedings in Congress, by the formal judgment of the United States prize-courts, as well as by the universal assent of all the neutral Powers concerned, and he expresses a very justifiable surprise that Mr. Seward’s threadbare complaint of British Recognition of an accomplished and admitted fact should be revived four years after the close of the war.”

Wounded soldier says he was kicked out of mall for using Segway

Trost was riding his Segway, a device that keeps his leg from hurting, through Foothills Mall.

An injured war hero says he was unfairly kicked out of Foothills Mall in Maryville. Master Sgt. Michael Trost is unable to walk for extended periods after suffering four gunshot wounds while serving in Afghanistan.

Trost was riding his Segway, a device that keeps his leg from hurting, through Foothills Mall.
That's when a security guard told him to leave.

We covered Sgt. Trost's grand homecoming last spring. The whole community even came together on a construction project, to make his life comfortable, after he spent months in the hospital.

Several surgeries later, he has chronic nerve pain in his legs, and uses a Segway that was given to him through a program that helps out wounded vets.

"If I walk long distances my leg will start hurting. My sciatic nerve was severed, and I can't go long distances. I need to take a break," said Sgt. Trost, showing us the device, and explaining why he needs it.

On Thursday, he was at the Maryville mall, searching for a pair of jeans.

"A security guard approached me and said I was going to have to take out the Segway. I told him it was an ADA, or a handicap piece of equipment. I had the handicap sticker on it. He goes, not in this mall," described Sgt. Trost.

Intelligence insider: Obama administration agenda to “kill U.S Dollar”

Via David

 https://s0.wp.com/imgpress?url=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm5.static.flickr.com%2F4116%2F4746714116_ca8096d1a6_z.jpg

This week, I had a series of very sobering discussions with my highly-placed source within the intelligence world. The information he provided hit me like a proverbial tons of bricks. It connects everything we are seeing play out across the world, from the economic problems in Europe to the U.S. DHS ammunition acquisition orders and even the “gun control” debate. If you’re like me, you’re looking for clarity, context and focus with regard to all of the events we’re constantly hearing about but seem to lack legitimate explanation. I believe this report will provide the context and clarity we are all seeking, but I must warn you that the picture is not pretty.

The economic agenda: In plain sight

Some might be surprised to learn that the fate of America’s economy has already been determined, verified and announced by the Obama White House. Yet, it has received scant attention from the corporate media. In 2011, economist Kyle Bass interviewed a senior member of the Obama administration about its planned solutions for fixing the US economy and trade deficit[ia].

Among the questions he asked was about U.S. exports and wages, but the question itself was not nearly as important as the response he received from this senior administration official. In fact, this single, seven word response clarifies everything, explains everything, and leaves little else to discuss:

“We’re just going to kill the dollar.”

There it is, the entire agenda in one short sentence. It explains everything we’ve been seeing domestically and globally. That one statement makes every other question irrelevant, or otherwise answers all economic questions and explains everything. Nothing else matters. I urge you to ponder that statement and all that it implies. Doing so will provide you with the clarity to understand not only what is taking place today, but what is yet to come.

How many Peeps can a 50 cal go through? Cadbury Easter Eggs too!

This is either fake, or at least staged with trained peeps and sugar bunnies. I've been hunting both species for a few years now and have never seen more than 3 peeps in a single group, let alone being lined up so perfectly. For the bunnies, because they prefer to hunt alone, it is rare to even see two together, unless you happen to stumble across a family in a den. But the biggest giveaway is that the peep and bunny are natural enemies that, in the wild, fight over resources.

Obama eligibility appeal in Roy Moore's court

judge-roy-moore

Oh boy, this should have legs.

Many cases challenging Barack Obama’s presidential eligibility have come and gone, but now an appeal has been filed with a state Supreme Court led by a newly elected chief justice who has expressed doubt about Obama’s qualification for office.

Roy Moore was elected chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court last November, a decade after he defied a federal order to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the state Supreme Court building.

Now, 2012 Constitution Party presidential nominee Virgil Goode and Alabama Republican Party leader Hugh McInnish are asking the state’s highest court to force Secretary of State Beth Chapman to verify that all candidates on the state’s 2012 ballot were eligible to serve.

Attorney Larry Klayman, founder of the Washington, D.C.-watch dog Judicial Watch and now head of Freedom Watch, filed the appeal Tuesday with the Alabama Supreme Court, asking for oral arguments.

“We are hopeful that Chief Justice Moore and the rest of the jurists on the Alabama Supreme Court will follow the law,” Klayman told WND.

Klayman says he and his team “have great respect for Chief Justice Moore and his integrity and legal acumen.”

“He is one courageous and brave man. There are few in this country.”

Cyprus President's Family Transferred Tens Of Millions To London Days Before Deposit Haircuts

A day after former Cypriot President Vassilou was found to be among many elite Cypriot (politicians and businessmen) who had loans written-off by the major (now insolvent) banks; it appears the rot is far fouler than expected.

In a somewhat stunning (or purely coincidental) revelation, ENETEnglish reports that Cypriot newspaper Haravgi claims that current President Nicos Anastasiades' family businesses transferred 'dozens of millions' from their Laiki Bank accounts to London just a week before the devastating depositor haircuts were unleashed upon his people.

Of course, the denials are loud and Anastasiades has demanded an investigation into the claims; we are sure the government-selected 'independent' committee will be as thorough as the Libor anti-trust investigators. As a reminder, as we noted yesterday, here are Cyprus' gun control laws.

Anonymous asked: are you proud to be an American?

"No matter how corrupt our government is, no matter how stupid the rest of the world thinks we are, I know its not our fault because the media is totally controlled, and I am 100% proud to be an American. I have a strong belief in hard work and the American dream. I've seen so many immigrant families from Mexico and other countries come here with hardly nothing and within a few years of elbow grease are living in a house with their family. I love my country which is why I care so much about change and challenging corruption, just like the Constitution says we should!"

Bank of Cyprus big depositors could lose up to 60%

Via Cousin John

A man walks near a Bank of Cyprus branch in Nicosia. Photo: 28 March 2013

Bank of Cyprus depositors with more than 100,000 euros (£84,300; $128,200) could lose up to 60% of their savings as part of an EU-IMF bailout restructuring move, officials say.

The central bank says 37.5% of holdings over 100,000 euros will become shares.

Up to 22.5% will go into a fund attracting no interest and may be subject to further write-offs.

The other 40% will attract interest - but this will not be paid unless the bank performs well.

It was known that the wealthiest savers at the Bank of Cyprus would take a large hit from the bailout deal - but not to this extent, the BBC's Mark Lowen reports.

Cypriot officials have also said that big depositors at Laiki - the country's second largest bank - could face an even tougher "haircut". However, no details have been released.

The officials say that Laiki will eventually be absorbed into the Bank of Cyprus.

VERBATIM

Ain’t gonna be no revolution ’cause nobody wants to get in trouble. Keyboard Commandos don’t lead armies.
MT. Top Patriot had an interesting comment over at Western Rifles, posted here in its entireity.
“AM on his recent piece on training:

======================================

LANGUAGE!

I don’t know if my perception is skewed by what I read, but it seems to me that a lot of people in the Liberty movement believe that conducting light infantry style operations will be something that comes naturally.”

That is a good thing by any standards, but, it is standards, based on a life and professional career in a culture steeped in military history and doctrine. And I must say, to AM and others, you all extend priceless insights and knowledge to us outside your military culture, things which as they rightfully contend must at the very least understood in order for Liberty to prevail.

Important aspect is culture IS part and parcel of the crux of things here.

To be frank, at moments I take umbrage from some of the comments, along the lines of a bunch of deer hunters being ineffective in the face of the iron fist of tyrannical powers. Or for example AM’s veiled reference to the Scot’s clannish culture being incapable of obtaining Liberty from rule of England. Ya, true for the Scot’s. Thier 2000 plus years of history, a rather tiny country, never lived in Liberty as in America. It is a clan nation state first and foremost. Millions of Scot’s-Irish came to America to escape the feudal tyranny of the land barons. It is these guys who forged the frontier lands, and where an essential man power of General Washington’s 3 percenters. And the Brits knew them already for the stoutness and individualism they possessed as a people…lot of guerrilla history right there.

I think in many ways the points made from the .mil perspective are most valid in respect to formation of the resistance, and at least are a parable worthy of every serious consideration in our own situation here in this Republic.

But many who advocate the training are guilty of omission, and please, take this statement in the heart felt intention it is given.

There is a mitigating reality to consider in the case of deer hunters and the kind. We have lived in Liberty, it has existed in our culture, it is known commodity so to say. Not so for, in relative terms, almost every human who has walked God’s green earth through recorded history.

You Sir’s, AM, Mr. Mosbey, et all, have been involved in a military that has fought, for good or bad reasons, across the globe, far from American shores, fought for peoples far less fortunate than us American’s who have tasted and lived in freedom. Who are blessed with a system of rule of law and sanction unalienable primal rights, Liberty codified by brilliant far sighted men and woman who understood the evil and violence within man’s heart. You all also have been proxies for the cabel of elites who advance their agenda through pax americana. Not to diminish in the least the honor and noble hearts who go into harms way. But you all, like us on the civilian side have been suckers in the worst way in the schemes and agenda’s of the ruling class.

And this has fundamental bearing on the questions of “Let’s Win”.

I Sir’s, me, regular Joe working stiff, well, I am a decedent of those wise learned people who are our Republics founders. I am a deer hunter also. I am also a man, like so many of my fellow American’s, born of tolerance, it is in my soul this tolerance, it is ingrained in my Liberty, that means I have to put up with a lot from the likes of tyrants, crooks, liars, and thieves, whom constitute the greater part of MY, government. Not because I wish to tolerate the trespasses upon my Liberty and happiness, far from it, but many of my fellow American’s, and in some fashion, myself included, created this monster, the tyranny we face. I have to be tolerant. It what separates us as from savages, barbarians. Which to be frank again, is how I view the political and ruling class. Savages, full of hubris and monumental stupidity, so stupid they can begin to appreciate how ignorant they are.

But I’m digressing here.

I wish to make a salient point here, and I’m going to use AM as a reference.

AM, as you strive to express your perspective through your experiences in things military and politic, which I must say are in my humble viewpoint considerable and endlessly fascinating, you miss something that maybe you can learn from the likes of Deer Hunters and the like, maybe something outside the scope of your life and profession. And maybe I can pass on to you something of great value in return.

I’m a free man.

I’m terribly concerned with the power and tyranny our people of government have usurped. The transgressions, the destruction of something so precious.

Am I afraid?

Why yes.

But not of tyranny and it’s enablers.

I’m afraid of that once the line is crossed, where we turn from a Constitutional Republic, the greatest free nation in human history, into the greatest act of civil war imaginable. The hard bitter, bloody, dirty, ugly, things almost unimaginable right now, it is all a chilling possibility, the specter of it growing closer by the day, and every reason to be tolerant of the tyranny breathing down our necks.
But, and it is a huge but, if it comes to pass, I think your military doctrine is not going to be up to the task of revolution and UW in America, by American’s. It is going to be asymmetrical warfare on a level and a style you, me, or very few can envision.

My point in all this is simple and manifold. It embraces, and is inherent in something that is a part of many American’s. An indomitable spirit, ingenuity, industriousness, creativity, verve, an ingrained spirit of being free and happy. That once the Rubicon is crossed, a paradigm is born within many of Liberty, essentially something in our societal civility is going to come unglued, that civility of tolerance for usurpers and traitors is going to disapear like a fart in a class five hurricane. And once this thing is unleashed, it will be vengeance on the tormentors like the world has never witnessed. A comeuppance upon the ruling class of orders of magnitude. It is going to start ugly and wildly bloody, but being American’s, I believe that indomitable spirit, that ideal of civility, and Liberty, of happiness, of prosperity is going to create it’s own doctrine. And yes, I want to rub your face in it, those Deer hunters and kind that I find disparaging? They prevail in the long run. And truth be asked, if all that doctrine is worth something in the context of the times that come to us, why hasn’t that oath, which you and your brethren in the military have sworn on the bible and to God, and to us Deer Hunters and kind, to the rule of law and Liberty, the oath, which is what made your doctrine possible in the first instance, why are you all sitting on your fucking arses doing nothing while us American’s become cannon fodder for the same government that pays you?

Why, WHY!, are you not using that doctrine and practice what you preach?

Why if you are so smart and learned, haven’t you begun a guerrilla war?

Us deer hunters ain’t stupid. We know whats coming down the pike. We get the shit sandwich from the ruling class shoved up our arses every waking moment.

Doctrine my ass. You want to preach about Doctrine. Well buddy, put your money where your mouth is. While John Mosbey has his ass swinging in the breeze, out in the cold, millions of his fellow .mil brethren, active and retired, are absent. Big fat Zero. What the fuck did you all TAKE THAT OATH FOR? A free lunch, and all the fun toy’s of destruction you could play with? Well you know what guys? You get on us deer hunters about not training, you all got to get behind us. And pounding a keyboard don’t cut the mustard pal.

Hey, this is one fucking huge country. there is a one big ass shitload bunch of arms and logistics in the hands of Deer hunters and kind. You think we are just a bunch of redneck mouth breathers?
Got news, a lot of smart intelligent, crafty mother fuckers, well they have a quality all their own. And something to ponder on that. The ruling class, they are afraid of only one thing. It ain’t islamic terrorists, if anything those child molesters are useful tools and dupes. It ain’t the Russians or Chinese, or the Iranians. Ain’t killer comets or any natural disaster. They ain’t even afraid of the .mil. It is 3 million deer hunters they fear like nothing else. 3 million dear hunters are the existential threat to the elites. It is the only entity on earth with the capability to destroy 150 years of what is for lack of simple terms the 1 world Bankster/Fabian order.

But you are still correct in many ways AM.

This is my rant, and I’m sticking to it. And my guns too.

And maybe, one day, if it drops in the pot, you could be great leader, and men like me would fight for something better than ourselves along side you.

But you need to get off your arse too.

If your serious.

John Mosby shouldn’t be out in the cold. Neither should us deer hunters and kind.

And all you oath keepers too.

It is time. and time is up.”

NC: McCroy Caves To $NAACP$

 Confederate Flag NC Capitol

McCroy is no better than any other one of the Political Correct Crowd. Remember, he wants to shut down Vance and Aycock's Birthplace. He is just another puppet and cannot lead on his own.
 Cousin John

A Confederate battle flag hung inside the old North Carolina State Capitol last week to mark the sesquicentennial of the Civil War is being taken down after civil rights leaders raised concerns.

The decision was announced Friday evening, hours after the Associated Press published a story about the flag, which officials said was part of an historical display intended to replicate how the antebellum building appeared in 1863. The flag had been planned to hang in the House chamber until April 2015, the 150th anniversary of the arrival of federal troops in Raleigh.

"This is a temporary exhibit in an historic site, but I've learned the governor's administration is going to use the old House chamber as working space," Cultural Resources Secretary Susan Kluttz said Friday night. "Given that information, this display will end this weekend rather than April of 2015."

Kim Genardo, the spokeswoman for Gov. Pat McCrory, said the exhibit that includes the Confederate battle flag will be relocated, possibly across the street to the N.C. Museum of History.

Deviled Eggs

Via SHNV

One day when my sister and I were in an antique store, she picked up a deviled egg plate and said, “Since I’m Southern, I probably should have one of these.” Alas, neither of us purchased one. Fast forward 20 years: I spot a nice glass deviled egg plate at Goodwill for $5. But did I buy it? Oh, no, I did not. Then a couple of weeks later I run across that SAME glass deviled egg plate at an antique store and they wanted $50 for it.

Right now you are probably thinking that I spend far too much time rooting through people’s old stuff. And I haven’t even mentioned my new estate sale obsession…But I digress…

I never actually tried a deviled egg until I was well into my thirties. I grew up Southern Baptist, for whom eating Satanic snack food is a sin almost on par with dancing. Ok, I made that up. Baptists eat heaps of deviled eggs (especially around Easter). But the sinful dancing part is true, in case y’all missed “Footloose.”

Can Southern Culture Survive?

http://libcfl.com/gregscv/LOS2004/PC-PA220820.JPG

By Franklin Sanders

In the early fall, a member of our vast editorial staff took a vacation on South Carolina’s coast, on one of the sea islands near Beaufort. Travelling to gracious Savannah, then surveying the ruins of Sheldon Church in South Carolina that was burned first by the British and then by the Yankees, walking down Meeting Street surrounded by sumptuous, elegant Charleston’s magnificent churches and mansions, hiking the battlefields at Kings Mountain and Cowpens where Southern men (mostly Tennesseans) won the Revolution, passing through the Museum of Early Southern Design Art at Old Salem, North Carolina, and driving through the countryside of Virginia, the astonishing grace and accomplishment of Southern culture surrounded him, but left a hushed question behind.

Is it clean gone forever? Has Southern culture, even the unique folkways and customs of Southerners high and low, disappeared? Or does Southern culture yet live?

Much of it has been replaced with bogus government culture. In every hamlet and county, the Yankee empire has planted “Arts Councils,” which have as much to do with cultivating art as those high-school condom giveaways have to do with cultivating chastity. Government money always decapitalizes the recipient; government help always achieves a result opposite to the one claimed. Government “help” for agriculture has driven farmers off the land, decimated rural culture, and is even now driving the last of the tobacco farmers off the land. In the same way, government art subsidies do not build but destroy Southern culture, replacing our native culture with something shallow and alien. They work exactly as their purveyors intend them to work.

Southerners tend to think of their culture as distinguished primarily by manners, the gracious way we (are supposed to) behave toward each other. But history shows that Southerners have from the very beginning been a people who did all things well, even elegantly.

For the South, the word “culture” brings first to mind Southern literature, from William Gilmore Simms to William Faulkner and Flannery O’Connor. Next music springs to mind. Yet an automobile trip through the South will not be long stretched out before the eyes discover astonishing architectural treasures, and I don’t mean those hideous metastasized warehouse-churches foisted by crazed architects on tasteless church deacons. Dig further and you will find Southern painters, silversmiths, cabinetmakers, quiltmakers, and artisans of every breed and calling. For instance, how many silversmiths were in Tennessee before the War? Dozens, several in every large city. How many are there today? I don’t know of one, but that’s all right. Silversmiths alone don’t make a culture – an appreciative audience is necessary first. Build the audience, and the silversmiths will come.

That’s my great concern: is the cultural audience still in the South? Does Southern culture yet live? Have we given up treading water, fighting to keep Southern culture alive, and resigned ourselves to drowning in the tide of American mediocrity?

Ahh, I can’t speak for the whole South, but I can speak for my little plot in Tennessee. Where these Southerners stand, the South lives and will live, and Southern culture will survive.

Southern culture doesn’t live in the jails of museums, opera halls, ballet stages, or art galleries. It’s too delicate for that. It can only survive in the hearts and minds and daily acts of the Southern people. To imprison it in those alien places would kill it forever.

Maybe your artistry only shows up with a dog and a gun in a canebrake, or maybe it blossoms in your holy kitchen. Maybe it appears in the infinitesimal stitches of the quilts you made for your grandchildren. Or in the hoof rasps you hammered into tomahawks over a smoking forge. Maybe Southern culture still lives in the perfect jar of pickles, or in a ham the likes of which this world has never thrown a tongue over, or in a garden where the rows are so straight that a weed wouldn’t have the nerve to take root, or in the mysterious dance of pointer and quail and Tennessee walker.

Maybe Southern art is in that magical run on banjo, guitar, or piano, in a child’s first crayon drawings, in the stories that pour out of old men like springs out of caves.

Living well is not only the best revenge, it also mothers the best art. When our everyday and necessary tasks arise deliberately from praise and thanksgiving, we offer back to God a dance of joy that not even angels can share.

And that is culture indeed.

Me, dreaming of glass doorknobs...

Yes, folks, Tara may be gone with the wind (or more accurately, fire), but throughout the South you’ll find many a pre-war home still standing. Judging by the variety of coffee-table books and Pinterest boards on the subject, folks really enjoy looking at these not-so-humble abodes. But what’s better than ogling photos or casting admiring glances from across the street? Why, being invited inside, of course! For a fee, but still.

During a spring pilgrimage, Southerners travel from far and wide for the opportunity to stroll the gardens and peek under the dust ruffles of these stately mansions. In all my years living in Mississippi, I can only recall taking a tour once, during which I was shown a “secret” dresser drawer wherein treasures could be stashed. I recall thinking, “Hey, my mom’s dresser has one of those!” Of course, one would be disappointed to discover that the “treasure” in Mom’s secret drawer consisted of birthday cards, old letters, and memorabilia. Her actual treasures? Well, she stored her jewelry in Band-Aid boxes tucked away deep in the cabinets. Sometimes hidden so well, she couldn’t find it herself.

For my mom’s side of the family, the pilgrimage was a time to bust out the hoop skirts and tricorn hats and put on a show. I inherited my fondness for all things fancy from the Lucas’. Two of my mom’s siblings were antique dealers and almost all the rest were regular customers. Every family reunion had a touch of the estate sale feel. But with more casseroles and cake.

"Owning a gun should be a privilege, not a right."

“Declare the NRA a terrorist organization and make membership illegal. Hey! We did it to the Communist Party, and the NRA has led to the deaths of more of us than American Commies ever did. (I would also raze the organization’s headquarters, clear the rubble and salt the earth, but that’s optional.) Make ownership of unlicensed assault rifles a felony. If some people refused to give up their guns, that ‘prying the guns from their cold, dead hands’ thing works for me.”
Kaul also had written,
“Repeal the Second Amendment, the part about guns anyway. It’s badly written, confusing and more trouble than it’s worth. It offers an absolute right to gun ownership, but it puts it in the context of the need for a “well-regulated militia.” We don’t make our militia bring their own guns to battles. And surely the Founders couldn’t have envisioned weapons like those used in the Newtown shooting when they guaranteed gun rights. Owning a gun should be a privilege, not a right.

Then I would tie Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, our esteemed Republican leaders, to the back of a Chevy pickup truck and drag them around a parking lot until they saw the light on gun control.”

NC: Lawful Citizens Self Protection Act removes certain restrictions for CHP holders...

Last week, Senator Jeff Tarte (R-Meckenburg, GRNC ****) along with Sens Andrew Brock (R-Davie, Iredell, Rowan, GRNC ****) and Shirley Randleman (R-Stokes, Surry, Wilkes, GRNC ****) became the primary sponsors for SB 408, the “Lawful Citizens Self Protection Act”. The bill would expand areas in which lawful Concealed Handgun Permit holders may carry or keep firearms for self protection. The bill makes changes primarily to G.S. 14-269.3 which currently restricts all guns from being carried in establishments where alcohol is sold and consumed, and G.S. 14-277.2(c) which restricts all forms of carry at parades, picket lines, funeral processions and demonstrations.

Another change within SB 408 establishes the legality of CHP holders to lawfully keep and secure their firearms in locked vehicles at their places of work. The bill would prevent business owners from establishing policies which would prevent CHP holders from locking their weapons in their vehicles while they are at work, enhancing their ability to protect themselves if the need arises.

GRNC applauds SB 408's sponsors, Sens. Jeff Tarte, Andrew Brock and Shirley Randleman for boldly stepping up for the rights of gun owners across North Carolina. This bill, along with others introduced in the past few weeks, will greatly enhance all of our abilities to legally defend ourselves in the case of an ever-growing public threat. We urge you to contact the NC Senate Leadership and your State Senator and let them know that you expect their full support in passing SB 408 in short order.

Jim Rogers: “I’m certainly not investing in the U.S."

The losses imposed on Cyprus bank depositors by the European Union, European Central Bank (ECB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout should be a warning shot to bank depositors around the world, says investment legend Jim Rogers, chairman of Rogers Holdings.

“What more do you need to know? Please, you better hurry, you better run for the hills. I’m doing it anyway,” Rogers tells CNBC.

“I want to make sure that I don’t get trapped. Think of all the poor souls that just thought they had a simple bank account. Now they find out that they are making a ‘contribution’ to the stability of Cyprus. The gall of these politicians.”

Many believe that America is plunging head first into a civil war with the forces of the New World Order which have hijacked our government. Trust me, nobody reading these words wants live through the times that the globalists have planned for us and if you listen to people who advocate for a civil war, you need your head examined.

Part one of this series detailed how the economy is collapsing due the failure of the Petrodollar. The resulting instability will provide the pretext to institute a series of false flag attacks which will provide the federal government with a preemptive opportunity to impose one of the most draconian forms of martial law that the world has ever seen. There is a chance that the American people will shed their shackles and finally rise up and that is exactly what the globalists desire.

If the globalists can draw us into a civil war and crush the opposition, they can end all pretenses and their full blown tyranny will be fully exposed for all to see and experience firsthand.  How close is America to falling into a civil war?

The Consequences of Amnesty: Vichy Republicans

 http://drivetrips.net/lindsey/vichy.jpg

Mike Scruggs

President Obama wants a “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” bill including amnesty for an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants and a huge new guest-worker program ready to move in the Senate by the week of April 8. Senator Patrick Leahy, Democrat Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has warned over the objections of Republican Senator Jeff Sessions and five Republican colleagues on the committee that he intends “to proceed to comprehensive immigration reform with all deliberate speed.” When politicians want to run “comprehensive reform” legislation through Congress with “all deliberate speed” it means that powerful special interests want to jam some questionable special interest legislation down the people’s throats before they can figure out what is being done to them. It is a form of deception and corruption that usually results in irreparable comprehensive damage to the nation for the benefit of special interests.

Senator Sessions and his colleagues are objecting because they believe that the legislation under construction deserves close scrutiny. Past amnesties and guest-worker programs were good for special interests but extremely damaging to American workers, taxpayers, many communities, and the rule of law. They have also been good for leftist issues and the Democrat Party and bad for conservative issues and Republicans.

Amnesty always begets more illegal immigration and more uncontrolled legal immigration. A rule of thumb based on the 1986 amnesty is that 11 million amnesties will generate 22 to 33 million new illegal immigrants within 10 to 20 years. That would jump our annual net fiscal costs for illegal alien (undocumented Democrat) maintenance from over $100 billion per year estimated by fairus.org to between $200 billion and $300 billion per year.

We now have an enormous $16 trillion dollar debt and trillion dollar fiscal deficits every year. The Heritage Foundation estimates that a new amnesty would cost the taxpayers over $2.5 trillion in the next ten years in increased Medicare and Social Security costs ALONE. Adding some of the incremental fiscal costs cited by fairus.org, a minimal cost of amnesty would be $3.0 trillion. Adding $3.0 trillion to an already staggering $16 national debt is stupid, insane, and CORRUPT.

Who will gain? Democrats will gain millions of new voters. More than 75 percent of the new legal residents on a path to the voting booth will vote Democrat—not because they are grateful for amnesty, but because they favor big government, and big social-welfare and healthcare programs by more than 75 percent. That should put their Republican opposition out of business in half a decade or less. It is easily predictable that if an amnesty passes, the Republicans will never win another national election unless they drop all principles. They will slowly lose most currently Red States, and Congressional Districts. Those businesses that use cheap illegal labor and cheap guest-worker labor will continue to reap huge profits. Who will lose? American workers, taxpayers, and the adherents of Constitutional government and Judeo-Christian culture.  More broadly, greed and importing a new and more Democrat electorate will triumph over a once great Republic.

Senator Sessions has bravely pointed out that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the largest lobbyist for cheap foreign labor:

“The Chamber’s primary goal has never been to establish a lawful immigration system and secure our borders, but to get as much cheap labor as possible—regardless of how it impacts American workers, legal immigrants, and taxpayers in general.”

The political costs of amnesty to conservatives are much broader than most people realize. Once a new, leftist electorate dominates conservative voices, no conservative issue will be safe, Constitutional or not, and in a few years, few will be left. How long will the Second Amendment last when the electorate, Congress, and Federal Courts are stacked against it?  Federally dictated political correctness will effectively replace a dead Constitution.

There are already eight million illegal immigrants working in the U.S. Yet there are 20 million Americans who want a full time job and cannot find one. Yet almost all the media sympathy is lavished on illegal immigrants who enter and stay in the U.S. by identity theft and document fraud. You cannot be for American jobs and amnesty or for American jobs and huge guest-worker programs. The propaganda that illegal immigrants are only doing “jobs Americans won’t do” has been discredited by competent research.

Amnesties and guest-worker programs flood the job market with cheap labor and drive American wages down. Some labor economics studies have shown that for every 100 foreign workers hired, 60 American workers will be displaced.

The principal legislative package of amnesty and guest-worker programs is the Senate Gang-of-Eight proposal, very similar to Obama’s own proposal. Amazingly, four of the eight sponsors are Republicans: McCain, Graham, Flake and Rubio. I prefer to call them the Vichy Republicans because they are operating against their party’s best interests and against the best interests of the American people. Amnesty is essentially Republican Party suicide, and the Democrat friendly press is trying to stampede Republicans into voting for quick extinction.

Several Center for Immigration Studies academic research articles over the last 10 years have consistently indicated that Republicans CANNOT win Latino votes by voting for amnesty and other liberal immigration policies. What will happen is this: (1) Amnesty will bring NO net Hispanic votes to the GOP. (2) Millions of newly amnestied voters will vote 75 percent Democrat because 75 percent of them are for big government social-welfare programs. (3) At least another 10 percent of conservative voters will stay at home. This would be far greater if voters knew immigration issues and how candidates stood on them, and if voters developed some discernment in distinguishing between truth and double-talk.

Republicans need to get some backbone or they are going to be destroyed by pro-amnesty political advisors and a media that is trying to stampede them into a suicidal breach of principles.

Household income tumbles during the Obama “recovery”

Household income tumbles during the Obama "recovery"

The New York Times delivers some news so grim that it had to cook the headline to hide it: “Median Household Income Down 7.3% Since Start of Recession.”

Well, yes, but as the Times reluctantly admits in the very last paragraph of the story, 5.6 percent of that decline has occurred since the Obama “recovery” began.  And median annual household income just fell by 1.1 percent in a single month – February 2013 – after the Obama “recovery” has supposedly been in progress for years.  That’s after $6 trillion in deficit spending to “stimulate” the economy, supposedly for the benefit of the average household.

What’s behind this decline in household income, which has become so drastically pronounced throughout the Obama era?

White House Scrubs First Daughters Ski Trip Report

local news affiliate in Idaho reported that the First Daughters, Sasha and Malia Obama, are on a Spring Break ski trip in Sun Valley, Idaho. The story quickly spread across the Internet when picked up by the highly trafficked Drudge Report website.

But hours later, the story disappeared from the KMVT website without an update or correction.  Breitbart News confirmed that the White House requested that the post be removed.

“Instead of cutting these critical payments to the state, why aren’t we cutting the President’s golf outings or luxurious government conferences?"

The Obama administration sparked outrage when it announced on Monday that it was withholding $110 million mineral royalty payments that are owed to states and counties due to the sequestration.
“The Budget Control Act of 2011, passed by Congress, mandates across-the-board, automatic 5.1 percent sequester reductions,” said Office of Natural Resources Revenue spokesman Patrick Etchart. “By law, revenue payments to states are not exempt from the sequester. Cumulatively, approximately $110 million will be withheld from states and counties where energy production occurs on federal lands during the remainder of the current fiscal year.”

Western states will feel the brunt of the cuts in royalty payments — 99.3 percent of it, according to the Congressional Western Caucus. This is money that goes towards financing projects such as K-12 education, highways, community colleges, and flood protection.

Paul Rips Obama, Bloomberg, Hollywood Stars Over Gun Contro

 http://www.newsmax.com/Newsmax/files/a2/a2e61b22-b570-44e5-b1e6-ae12d84978d9.jpg

VERBATIM

President Barack Obama, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and many Hollywood stars are being hypocritical in calling for stricter gun control while they are protected with armed bodyguards, says Sen. Rand Paul.

“I don’t begrudge any famous person like Mayor Bloomberg or the president or the president’s family for having protection,” Paul told Fox News on Thursday.

“I think they all should,” the Republican senator from Kentucky said. “There are enough crazy people out there who would attack on the right or the left. But I think when you are being protected by people who have weapons, by responsible people, I can’t see why you would be opposed to that for other people.”

As for Hollywood, “Many rich Hollywood celebrities have armed guards with them at all times,” Paul points outs.

“And many regular people who live in a poor neighborhood, who have a business in a poor neighborhood and a neighborhood that may have higher crime, those people have to suffer the vicissitudes of violent crime without protection sometimes, because of gun control laws.”

Paul’s conclusion: “Yes, I think there is a certain amount of hypocrisy.”

State grants Secret Service vast new powers

SecretService

A bill is heading to Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper’s desk that Republican lawmakers say would give members of the Secret Service broad arrest powers in the state and could provide a framework for federal agents eventually to enforce gun restrictions.

“This is absolutely insane,” Rep. Lori Saine, R-Dacono, said. “In theory if a Secret Service agent is in a county where the sheriff has refused to enforce some of the recent unenforceable gun laws, the agent could arrest an individual if he believes the law has been broken.”

The idea actually aligns with an Obama agenda to create vast new restrictions and regulations on guns. WND has reported that hundreds of sheriffs nationwide, including many in Colorado, have said they cannot enforce federal restrictions that would violate the Second Amendment.

In Colorado, Weld County Sheriff John Cooke said he and many other county sheriffs “won’t bother” with several laws poised to go into effect in Colorado because they would be impossible to enforce.

Video: Planned Parenthood Official Argues for Right to Post-Birth Abortion

Florida legislators considering a bill to require abortionists to provide medical care to an infant who survives an abortion were shocked during a committee hearing this week when a Planned Parenthood official endorsed a right to post-birth abortion.

Alisa LaPolt Snow, the lobbyist representing the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates, testified that her organization believes the decision to kill an infant who survives a failed abortion should be left up to the woman seeking an abortion and her abortion doctor.

"So, um, it is just really hard for me to even ask you this question because I’m almost in disbelief," said Rep. Jim Boyd. "If a baby is born on a table as a result of a botched abortion, what would Planned Parenthood want to have happen to that child that is struggling for life?”

"We believe that any decision that's made should be left up to the woman, her family, and the physician," said Planned Parenthood lobbyist Snow.

Rep. Daniel Davis then asked Snow, "What happens in a situation where a baby is alive, breathing on a table, moving. What do your physicians do at that point?”

"I do not have that information," Snow replied. "I am not a physician, I am not an abortion provider. So I do not have that information.”

Rep. Jose Oliva followed up, asking the Planned Parenthood official, "You stated that a baby born alive on a table as a result of a botched abortion that that decision should be left to the doctor and the family. Is that what you’re saying?”

Again, Snow replied, “That decision should be between the patient and the health care provider.”

“I think that at that point the patient would be the child struggling on the table, wouldn’t you agree?” asked Oliva.
