Nathaniel Macon and North Carolina Independence

 macon

Although I have been in exile many years, I am a Tar Heel born and a Tar Heel bred, and when I die I will be a Tar Heel dead.

Nathaniel Macon is a perfect subject for a Tar Heel. He is not well-known today, but he is the best possible example of the true spirit of North Carolina. And comparing Macon with the politicians of today gives us a benchmark as to how dreadfully far America has degenerated from the principles on which it was founded.

In his time Macon was widely admired by Americans as the perfect model of a republican statesman. By republican I mean republican with a small “r.” I definitely do NOT mean the Republican Party, which, from its very beginning, when it stole the name from better people, right up to this minute, has stood for the exact opposite of what Nathaniel Macon meant by republican government.

86 of VA’s 95 counties declare themselves 2nd Amendment sanctuaries

Just over 90 percent of Virginia’s counties have already passed resolutions designating themselves Second Amendment “sanctuaries,” since Democratic lawmakers won control of the state’s legislature on Nov. 5 and have vowed to bring strict gun control to the state.

Some 86 of Virginia’s 95 counties have adopted language intended to deprioritize the enforcement of new gun laws, according to the Washington Examiner. Another 15 cities and towns have also brought up their own sanctuary language, in anticipation of new gun laws proposed by the Virginia Governor Ralph Northam and the newly Democratic majority set to take control in 2020.
Stafford, Prince Edward, and York counties were the latest to join the movement, as well as the town of Vinton. Between those towns, cities and counties, a total of 101 Virginia localities have voted for the sanctuary resolutions.
“I did not think it would be that high of a number,” said Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins. “It’s an organic thing that just took off after Election Day. Elections have consequences and this is the result. This has truly rocked the conservative, libertarian group’s core. It has really shook a lot of them awake. They are fully awake.”

The Land of Lawless Lawyers

The impeachment hearings are good for humor if for nothing else. They bring out the so-called experts who demonstrate that they are anything but experts.

Law professor Pamela Karlan, Standford law professor, and Shelia Jackson Lee exchanged expertise on the Constitution and the Founders’ concerns prior to writing it. These two experts immediately opened their mouths and demonstrated that sometimes it is better to keep one’s mouth closed and let people think you are stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Shelia led off with a reference to “kings”:

“Kings, that (sic) the framers were afraid of, and the president’s conduct today.”

Dear Sheriff Baker and Wake County Commissioners :

I am writing to express my outrage over the fact that the public is to be denied the use of Wake County’s public shooting range. Sheriff Baker’s rash decision is unacceptable, and I’m terribly disappointed to see that the county commissioners are not pushing back in any effective way. It is also suspect that the Sheriff decided to take this action during the height of the Christmas season, when most citizens are distracted with holiday activities.

The citizenry must be allowed access their own facility, which was originally chartered for public use. I’m demanding that this be rectified as soon as possible, and that a full explanation of how this happened in the first place be provided.

I will be monitoring your actions on this important matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.

Respectfully,

Greg Ford

to me
Good evening,

Friday afternoon, Wake County Manager David Ellis notified Sheriff Gerald Baker that the County will revert control of operations of the Wake County firing range and training center back to the County. In the memo, Manager Ellis assured Sheriff Baker that County staff will work closely with the Sheriff’s Office to ensure a smooth transition for the County-owned building. Officers will continue to have access to the training facility in the interim for skills development.

Since the Sheriff dismissed the vendor with the contract to operate the center for the public, Wake County staff and the Board of Commissioners will review options for reinstating public access as soon as possible. The Board will review these option at an upcoming meeting early in the new year, once details are available.

The firearms facility and training center was built with taxpayer dollars by Wake County Government for its use by law-abiding gun owners and law enforcement professionals. It is a community asset and Wake County commissioners and staff will work to ensure that the facility is again made available for the community’s use as soon as possible.

“Wake County to take control of shooting range from Sheriff’s Office”

Mayor of Border City Ends Emergency Declaration, Thanks Trump for Stemming Flow of Illegal Immigrants

A border patrol vehicle drags the sand to make any new footprints of border crossers more visible along a recently constructed section of the controversial U.S.-Mexico border fence expansion on previously pristine desert sands on March 14, 2009, between Yuma, Arizona, and Calexico, California.

The mayor of Yuma, Arizona, withdrew his city’s local state of emergency and explicitly credited the Trump administration for implementing policies that led to the significant reduction in border crossings.

Yuma Mayor Douglas Nicholls — in a meeting with acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli on Thursday — officially withdrew his city’s emergency proclamation, declaring that the number of illegal aliens consuming the town’s resources has reached more manageable levels.

FISA Court questions whether ‘information contained in other FBI applications is reliable’

Less than a week after Department of Justice Inspector General (IG) Michael Horowitz released his investigation detailing FBI misconduct in obtaining a FISA spy warrant on a Trump 2016 presidential campaign aide, the presiding judge of the FISA Court, Rosemary Collyer, issued a Four-Page Response Order on Dec. 17, 2019.

This unprecedented order by the FISA court condemned—and verified—ongoing wrongdoing by the FBI in the entire approach to the FISA process. Judge Collyer’s order also highlighted just how serious these breaches of conduct actually were, and the potential fallout that could result from the FBI’s actions.
