“Contextualizing” History

Statement about the “slavery the sole cause of the war” plaque affixed to the Confederate soldier monument in Gainesville, Florida.

I have been asked to comment on the recent fad of “contextualizing” historic monuments as it relates to the Confederate soldiers’ memorial at Gainesville.

What I have seen of the proposed plaque amounts, it seems to me, to an attempt to revise history and to establish an official version of history.

An historical monument should be taken for what it is. Opinions may differ about it, but it is a piece of history in itself. The Confederate soldiers’ monument was erected by people who wanted to remember their kin and neighbors who had fought and died opposing what was a quite vicious and destructive invasion. A third of the Florida men opposing invasion died—a fact that was of heavy significance to the people who erected the monument. The cost of the monument in 1904 was no doubt a considerable sacrifice to people still living in poverty brought on by the war.

Globalists Are Building An Army Of Millennials To Destroy Sovereignty

Back in October of 2016 I covered an issue which I have been very concerned with for over a year now. In an article titled Global Elites Are Getting Ready To Blame You For The Coming Financial Crash, I outlined the basis for my belief that Donald Trump would win the U.S. election and why the U.K. Brexit was allowed to meet with success. Here is a quote from that article to give you a general sense of my position:
“I argue that the Trump tapes will be forgotten in a week and that they have no bearing whatsoever on the election. They are nothing more than bread and circus. Beyond the fact that really, almost no one cares what Trump said a decade ago. I argue that this election has already been decided. I argue that the globalists want Trump in office, just as they wanted the passage of the Brexit. I argue that they need conservative movements to feel as though we have won, so that they can pull the rug out from under us in the near future. I argue that we are being set up.

Teresa Sue Update

Good morning Brock,

I just thought I would visit with you a bit because I was thinking of you this past Memorial Day weekend.

We attended a Civil War battle re-enactment this weekend.  It was just west of Fairchild AFB. which is west of Spokane, WA.

Someone bought a place and named it Deep Creek Farms and they must belong to the re-enactment club.  Here is the link:

http://spokanecivilwar.com/#nil

Anyway, when I passed a chalk board with VMI written on it (it was in the CSA camp) I thought of you and chuckled.

The re-enactment was pretty sparse compared with the descriptions of re-enactments back where they actually happened, but it was still fun.

On other fronts, I have strawberries putting on blossoms, cherry trees, still in pots, waiting to be planted, putting on blossoms and more work than I will be able to finish this summer.

We're getting ready to move back into the shop so we can lay the hardwood floor in the apt., so it'll be back to glorified camping.

Glad you made it home safely, take care,

As in the Allied powers of WWII.  Steven Crowder takes a break from writing comedy for his channel to do a video on the attack in Manchester last night .

Like most of us, I'm sickened by the murder of innocents in the UK; this time young girls.  Apparently a venue full of girls in the (I've read) 10 to 20 age group was chosen as a way to outrage westerners, because in their minds if some "westerner" goes and kills a random mooslim, that will cause the so-called "moderate" mooslims to endorse Isis and cause the battle for the end of the world they're trying to create.  That it's a sick, twisted view of the world is an understatement.

Crowder wrote an accompanying piece for the Blaze with some highlights.
If you want to practice Islam in the inconsequential, semi-secular sense. Fine. But the only way to solve this problem is to recognize that POLITICAL Islam and anyone who follows its prescription is inherently incompatible with Western values.

That means:
  • Want sharia courts?  You’re not welcome.
  • Think it’s okay to marry a six year old?  You’re not welcome.
  • Think it’s okay to strike your wife for ANY reason?  You’re not welcome.
  • Believe in ANY kind of punishment for apostasy?  You’re not welcome.
  • Believe in ANY kind of punishment for “blasphemy”?  You’re not welcome.
  • Overpopulation Hoax: The greatest threat to mankind's prosperity is government, not population growth.

    Via Billy

In 1798, Thomas Malthus wrote "An Essay on the Principle of Population." He predicted that mankind's birthrate would outstrip our ability to grow food and would lead to mass starvation.

Malthus' wrong predictions did not deter Stanford University professor Paul Ehrlich from making a similar prediction. In his 1968 best-seller, "The Population Bomb," which has sold more than 2 million copies, Ehrlich warned: "The battle to feed all of humanity is over. In the 1970s and 1980s hundreds of millions of people will starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now." This hoax resulted in billions of dollars being spent to fight overpopulation.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes said Wednesday Democrats have prevented a panel investigating Russia's interference in the 2016 election from conducting a single witness interview.

Nunes also announced the panel in the coming days is likely to subpoena the FBI, CIA and National Security Agency for information that would reveal who "unmasked" classified information damaging to President Trump's administration.

Nunes, R-Calif., recused himself from the House Intelligence panel probe into alleged links between Trump and Russia.

But he said the panel has not conducted any interviews in part because Democrats aren't cooperating.

Philippine leader Rodrigo Duterte has denounced Chelsea Clinton as he tried to defend a 'joke' he made about his troops raping women.

Tuesday night, James Woolsey, CIA Director under President Bill Clinton, commented on CNN:
“There are a lot of things I think have been disclosed too much and I think that is the real scandal here . . . So much disclosed, it makes it hard for the secrecy that’s essential to the operation of the U.S. government in these areas to continue, and I think the people who have broken these tacit and formal agreements and taken classified information and turned it loose are basically traitors to the country.”
Regarding the Kushner-Russia “backchannel” talk, Woolsey, who helped advise the Trump transition team following the election, stated that there isn’t anything suspicious about setting up a backchannel.
“I don’t see anything untoward about having backchannel communications as long as you’re doing it accurately and within the confines, essentially, of what your superiors have asked of you . . . People have backchannel communications all the time.”

President Trump on Wednesday criticized the FBI's investigation into ties between Trump campaign associates and Russia, calling the investigation a "witch hunt" after Carter Page, a former Trump adviser, said the FBI and CIA are not telling the truth about his role.

"So now it is reported that the Democrats, who have excoriated Carter Page about Russia, don't want him to testify. He blows away their case against him & now wants to clear his name by showing 'the false or misleading testimony by James Comey, John Brennan... Witch Hunt!" Trump said in two separate tweets, referencing former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan.

Page served as Trump's foreign policy adviser and was reportedly under investigation by the FBI for his contacts with Russia.

In a letter to the House Intelligence Committee on Monday, Page said there has been an "ongoing barrage of false information" spread about him over the last three months, and said he wants to testify as quickly as possible.

Barron Trump Thought Beheaded Image Was His Dad

    Via Billy

Barron Trump was watching television Tuesday at home with Melania when Kathy Griffin's photo appeared on the screen, and his initial reaction was that something terrible happened to his father.

Trump family sources tell us Barron was in front of the TV watching a show when the news came on and he saw the bloody, beheaded image. We're told he panicked and screamed, "Mommy, Mommy!"

As it was put to us, "He's 11. He doesn't know who Kathy Griffin is and the head she was holding resembled his dad."
