Lincoln’s Reelection in 1864

United States presidential election of 1864 | United States government | Britannica

In mid-1864 Lincoln’s prospects for defeating the South’s bid for independence were bleak, and cracks appeared in his shaky coalition dominated by Radicals.  It was at this time that Southern commissioners were in Canada planning a northern front with freed prisoners at Johnson’s Island and burning New York City in retaliation for Atlanta. Had this found success, and Generals Joe Johnston and Nathan Bedford Forrest been left to harass and defeat Sherman’s army before Atlanta, a negotiated peace and thousands of lives saved might have resulted.

But, as Assistant Secretary of War Charles A. Dana wrote, “All the power and influence of the War Department . . . was employed to secure the re-election of Mr. Lincoln.” In his study of Lincoln as politician, author Don C. Seitz writes that “something like two hundred thousand soldiers were furloughed to go home and vote.”

American by Birth, Southern by the Grace of God

The old saying: “American by birth, Southern by the grace of God” certainly applies to me.

I’m an ethnic Southerner who was raised in the north – but who, for the past 25 years (with the exception of my three year educational exile to the permafrost of Fort Wayne, Indiana) has lived in the Deep South.  In fact, for the past 17 years, I have lived so far in the Deep South that it is really barely Southern at all – being south of the South.  But we were graciously permitted membership in the Confederacy, given the tolerance and ethnic diversity of that particular manifestation of American federalism.  Moreover, only two other states suffered as long as we did in the so-called Reconstruction as did Louisiana.  So we – my state and my person – have earned the bona fides to consider what it means to be Southern, though perhaps by means of a circuitous route.

So permit me to ponder – while pondering is still permitted in our Reunited States.

Lindsey Graham Issues Warning to Anti-Trump Republicans: ‘If You’re Wanting to Erase Donald Trump From the [Republican] Party, You’re Going to Get Erased’

Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said Wednesday that it would be grave error to try to “erase” former President Donald Trump from the Republican Party because of the support he still enjoys within it.

“I hope people in our party understand the party itself. If you’re wanting to erase Donald Trump from the party, you’re going to get erased,” Graham told Fox News just hours after the inauguration Wednesday of President Joe Biden.

“Most Republicans like his policies. A lot of Republicans like his style,” Graham continued. “A lot of people are disappointed with him personally at times but appreciate the outcomes he’s achieved for our country.

Confederate Monuments in Battlefields to be removed!

Compatriots,

First let me thank Tennessee Division Commander Joey Nolan for his foresight in seeing what lies ahead for us from the new Congress. The following words comes from his letter. I do not think this can be worded any better, thus, I am adopting them as a General Order to the organization. The following is that letter:

Congress passed a law to create a committee to spend $2,000,000 to remove all Confederate imagery from our military. Over the next three years, buildings, ships, streets, bases, barracks, fields, planes associated with Confederates will be renamed. In the next round of tyranny and “wokism”, legislators are working feverishly to remove Confederate monuments, plaques, pictures, and literature from American battlefields. Please read the following article here:

https://www.rollcall.com/2020/12/23/confederate-monuments-at-national-parks-get-reprieve/

This effort will start again now with the transition of power complete. I urge everyone to contact your legislators, early and often to tell them to vote against this horrible bill. If you do not participate, THE MONUMENTS WILL BE REMOVED AND DESTROYED! Keep your comments short, to the point, and polite. Letters, calls, texts, tweets, and instagrams are all useful tools. Sign your letters as a concerned taxpayer and voter.

Ideas for your letterss

1.     This is a voting issue for millions of Americans.
2.     Removing monuments to Confederates will adversely affect tourism and the local economy.
3.     The monuments should be protected under the Antiquities Act.
4.     Removing monuments will disenfranchise millions of American taxpayers and voters and hurt military recruitment, as most volunteers are from the South per capita.
5.     Removing Confederate Monuments is cost prohibitive, money would be better spent on COVID-19 response.
6.     Voting to remove monuments enables the movement to remove the rest of American history and culture. Is that what you want your legacy to be?

If you do not know how to contact your legislators, use this link:https://www.usa.gov/elected-officials

We need everyone to participate in this effort. Talk to your trusted contacts, get them involved. All it takes for evil to win is for good men to do nothing.

Want you answer this call to action and take the time to write your representatives and stand up for our ancestors

Ted Cruz Grills Pete Buttigieg on Biden Killing ‘Thousands’ of Keystone XL Jobs & McCarthy: Trump Continues to 'Have the Ability' to Lead and Unite GOP

Via Rich H                    "Cruz wore a Gonzales Flag mask to Biden's Inauguration"

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) questioned Pete Buttigieg, President Joe Biden’s nominee for transportation secretary, on Thursday about the president’s executive order to end the Keystone XL Pipeline as part of what the Biden administration claims is a “climate crisis.”

Buttigieg said Biden’s rescinding of a permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline to carry crude oil from Canada into the U.S. is part of “climate vision” that will produce “millions” of jobs. Partial transcript below:

Senate Republicans Warn McConnell Ahead of Impeachment Trial (How can you impeach a man who isn't in office.)

“I don’t agree with him,” Graham said of McConnell’s remarks. “That would be a crime, to provoke somebody, to incite them to violence. Show me the clip where he did that.”

Senate Republicans are reportedly firing warning shots ahead of the looming impeachment trial for former President Trump, suggesting that they will no longer be able to support Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as leader if he votes to convict the former president.

The Guy Who Once Sold His Own Driveway is Now Your President

We all have known someone like this.  They think they know a lot more than they really do.  And when they talk about how things work, it's with so much confidence that you figure there must be some genuine smarts behind it, but in actuality, they are just full of shit.

They manage somehow to stick around a long time, so it’s hard to imagine the person is completely clueless and inept.  But once you start really paying attention to the things they say, you begin to wonder.  What would happen if you put the person in charge of something challenging?

When Joe Biden was vice president, he wasn’t in charge of much of anything.  When he was in the U.S. Senate, he wasn’t in charge of much of anything either.  And he hasn’t had a job in the private sector in more than 50 years. To find out how Joe handles actual responsibility, we have to look a little deeper.

Paul Harvey and The Declaration of Independence

Via Barbara

"With a deep, resonate voice - Paul Harvey gives us something precious to remember. Most citizens of the United States are unable to quote one line from the Declaration of Independence. Paul reminds us that when the courageous statesmen came together to sign this powerful document, they mutually pledged to each other their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor. The place where the document was signed is now called “Independence Hall” and it is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The best men from each of the colonies sat down together for the signing which details our inalienable rights as citizens of America, the land of the free. These were educated, respectful, hard working successful men of greatness.

There were 24 lawyers which included 9 jurists who also worked as farmers, owners of large plantations. On June 11 a committee sat down to draw up a Declaration that spelled out their Independence from the British! No more ruling by the foreign ruthless, merciless Redcoats! Citizens freedoms were shrinking away This noble group of me had all endured hardships. Thomas Jefferson finished a draft of the document in 17 days. The Congress adopted it on July 4, 1776. King George had denounced all the American rebels and the countrymen were subject to a traitors death. The names of those who signed the Declaration of Independence were kept secret for six months. Each knew the meaning of the magnificent last paragraph. 56 men placed their names beneath that pledge, knowing that they were risking all they had ever owned or accomplished. They expected years of hardship and bloodshed, but their freedom and the freedom for the next generations was at stake! If America lost these same 56 were willing to dangle from a rope. Carter Braxton of Virginia was a wealthy ag trader who saw his ships swept from the Seas.

To pay his debts he lost his home and died in rags. Thomas Lynch Jr was a third-generation rice grower, an aristocrat who ran a large plantation. With failing health he and his wife set sail for France to get treatment. Their ship never got to France. Thomas McKean of Delaware was tracked by the enemy that he was forced to move his family five times in five months. Thomas served Congress without pay while his family lived hiding in poverty."

Help me understand how people wish Beijing Biden to succeed:

Help me understand how people wish Beijing Biden to succeed:
1. Higher tax rates
2. Losing jobs to China
3. Weak military
4. Borders without safety
5. Life without religious freedom
6. Big Tech control
7. Dependency on oil from foreign countries
8. More regulation
9. Unfair trade

Interim Clinical Considerations for Use of mRNA COVID-19 Vaccines Currently Authorized in the United States: January 21, 2021

OKC-County Health Department :: COVID Vaccine

 CDC

The mRNA COVID-19 vaccine series consist of two doses administered intramuscularly:

  • Pfizer-BioNTech (30 µg, 0.3 ml each): 3 weeks (21 days) apart
  • Moderna (100 µg, 0.5 ml): 1 month (28 days) apart

Persons should not be scheduled to receive the second dose earlier than recommended (i.e., 3 weeks [Pfizer-BioNTech] or 1 month [Moderna]). However, second doses administered within a grace period of 4 days earlier than the recommended date for the second dose are still considered valid. Doses inadvertently administered earlier than the grace period should not be repeated.

The second dose should be administered as close to the recommended interval as possible. However, if it is not feasible to adhere to the recommended interval, the second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines may be scheduled for administration up to 6 weeks (42 days) after the first dose. There are currently limited data on efficacy of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines administered beyond this window. If the second dose is administered beyond these intervals, there is no need to restart the series.

Vaccine administration errors should be reported to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS)external icon.

Why the Left Has to Suppress Free Speech

Via Mike

Race-baiters such as Ibram X. Kendi or Ta-Nehisi Coates or “White Fragility” author Robin DiAngelo would never debate Larry Elder, for example.

If there is free speech, there is dissent. And if there is dissent, there is no more left.

Let us begin with this fact: The left always suppresses speech. Since Vladimir Lenin and the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia in 1917, there has been no example of the left in control and not crushing dissent.

That is one of the important differences between liberal and left: Liberalism and liberals believe in free speech.

(The present leftist threat to freedom in America, the greatest threat to freedom in American history, is made possible because liberals think they have more to fear from conservatives than from the left. Liberals do not understand that the left regards liberals as their useful idiots.)

The left controls universities. There is little or no dissent allowed at universities.

An Honor! China Announces Major Action Against 28 Trump Officials and Their Families Minutes After Biden Takes Oath of Office

China Announces Major Action Against 28 Trump Officials and Their Families Minutes After Biden Takes Oath of Office

What an honor to be sanctioned by the Chinese Communist Party! That should earn them praise as loyal Americans but I'm sure the Biden regime will side completely with the communists.

The Chinese government announced sanctions against more than two dozen Trump administration officials and their immediate families within minutes of President Joe Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday.

Among those sanctioned was former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, according to Reuters. Pompeo has been vocal about China’s treatment of Uyghur Muslims, particularly in the last few days.

White Supremacy: The Left’s Latest Lie

There is only one thing that mutates faster these days than the coronavirus: the driving narrative of America’s social justice movement.

It all began – if you still remember – with police brutality. In May of last year, it was police brutality that was America’s terrible ill and sin. To purge it, we had to beat the police on their heads wherever they showed up and burn cities across the land. And we also had to kneel.

Then came the charge of systemic racism. To do away with that scourge, we had to do all of the above, plus white people had to apologize for their privilege.
