Hidden Cameras Capture Smugglers Crossing Border 'No-Man's Land'

A cattle-ranching couple in southern Arizona hopes that dramatic hidden-camera video showing suspected drug or immigrant smugglers crossing their property will help persuade federal officials to shift resources southward to eliminate what they call a dangerous "no-man’s land” along the border.

“It just confirmed what we already knew,” Jim Chilton, who runs the 50,000-acre ranch with his wife, Sue, said of the video, which was filmed this spring by a border-security advocacy group. …“We have ceded to the cartels 20 miles, 30 miles inside the United States.”

For years, the Chiltons have publicly complained — even testified before Congress -- that their ranch southwest of Tucson, which shares a 5-1/2-mile border with Mexico, has been flooded with smugglers. They’ve told of surprise encounters with groups of migrants – some of them armed –- break-ins at their home and finding piles of trash and clothing left by the trespassers.

The more I learn about the debacle they call the Affordable Health Care Act or Obama Care........

 https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl9DK7y5lAfGbCMHRuOJv-radBXOzWybA1s1xvU35wXTNC78UKrOZS59-NHqv2l2AGBFPZ0SccOm3QcSxPONBrNggJAgUmD3_-5R7eLM-_p8gX3RxE0hFsoJjegBPzSmiyNstUxIT-DhIf/s640/how+much+will+obamacare+increase+your+premiums+map.jpg

........ as it has become affectionately known the more confused I am how anyone in their right mind would have allowed this to become law. Yes I know they had to pass it to see what is in it but as is becoming all too common the reality doesn't match the hype that was promised.

As I posted earlier my company has begun the process of phasing out providing health care to our employees. We took our current costs for health care and divided that cost up per employee and increased their wages by that amount. The few who did not participate in our current coverage obviously saw a windfall. They were on a spouses plan and got the increase in the same amount of increase as those who did participate. There will those who are still eligible for subsidies as of now who will also be bale to put money in their pocket after purchasing insurance but there are also those who will find their costs increase. I for one will beginning October 1st be paying 50% more to cover my family with a plan that basically is no better than the one I had through the company.

Our insurance broker came and held a general meeting with all our employees explaining the process and the current state of health care. They now ill come back on three different days to meet individually with employees to discuss their needs and help get them signed up for the plan that best fits their needs. The first of these meetings was last Friday and there is a mixed review from our employees following along the lines of who will pocket money and who will be paying more.

As discussed by our broker there are still many issues unanswered. First NC is one of the states that did not set up a state exchange. As correctly interpreted by the court the law as written plainly states that subsidies are only available to those states that have state exchanges. As it currently stands the federal government will continue to honor subsidies in those states without state exchanges but unless the law is modifies this could end abruptly raising the cost for everyone. Second NC is also one of the states that did not expand Medicare. The result of that is that if a family for their size falls below the Federal Poverty Income Level in any state that did not expand Medicare those people are not eligible for any subsidy. In most cases the states that did not set up exchanges and did not expand Medicare are red states with big R Republican governors. the blue states who towed the line are eligible for both. Funny how that worked out.

Lastly if you do not qualify for a subsidy you are basically screwed. You can expect a 40-60% increase to maintain your current level of health care. Then for everyone with a subsidy or not come 2015 there is another increase expected. In our case we always purchased insurance in line with our fiscal year which starts October 1st through September 30th but now our employees are purchasing insurance at rates quoted for only 3 months. Beginning January 1st 2015 they will not be guaranteed the same arte for 2015. When I asked our broker if they had any idea what those increases might be they said they could only guess. But based off what they are hearing the increases will be between 20 & 40%. The lower increases will go towards the lesser cost catastrophic type plans and the better the coverage the higher increase unless the insurance companies decide to blend the cost increases and just raise everyone up 25 to 30%.

No matter how you look at it this situation just gets uglier and uglier.

Family of rabbi shot in Miami say it’s a hate crime

Grieving loved ones of a Brooklyn rabbi, who was shot in cold blood Saturday morning while heading to temple in Miami, say his murder is a hate crime — while authorities in Florida say it was a random robbery gone bad.

Rabbi Joseph Raksin, 60, was walking by himself, heading to an early morning Shabbat service close to his daughter’s Miami home when two men approached him.

Local police said the incident seems to be a robbery gone bad, adding that there is “no indication of this being a hate crime,” according to Miami-Dade police spokeswoman Elena Hernandez.
But Raksin’s friends and family said the loving father of six was targeted.

“It was not a robbery,” said Elehana Giezinsky, 56. “The criminal element in Miami and New York knows that the Orthodox don’t carry money on the Sabbath.”

An armed Lakeland man killed a 14-year-old gang member in a shootout Wednesday evening after both drew guns and opened fire, according to the Lakeland Police Department.

Virgis Canteen, 43, had accused Davion Smith of burglarizing his apartment last month, records show.

At 7:49 p.m., Smith and two unidentified companions began taunting Canteen in the courtyard outside his Oregon Avenue apartment before the teen drew an handgun, a witness told police.

Canteen also had a handgun and, according to Canteen, the teen began shooting at him first, striking him several times in the "upper extremities," police spokesman Sgt. Gary Gross said in a report.
Canteen said he returned fire, striking the teen "numerous times."

Government Has No Receipts for Thousands of Unaccompanied Alien Children

The Department of Justice does not have receipts for more than half of the unaccompanied alien children apprehended at the southwest border by Border Patrol since the start of fiscal year 2013, government records show.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection data show more than 85,000 total apprehensions of unaccompanied alien children during fiscal year 2013 and fiscal year 2014 through June. Information from the same time period provided to National Review Online by the DOJ’s Executive Office for Immigration Review shows 41,592 total receipts marked as juvenile in immigration courts. Kathryn Mattingly, spokesperson for EOIR, tells NRO the receipts refer to new Notices to Appear (NTA) — the document the Department of Homeland Security uses to charge an illegal immigrant with being removable from the United States.

Concealed Carry Permits Skyrocket 1000% in Eastern NC County

Lenoir County Sheriff Chris Hill supports concealed carry.

The citizens of Lenoir County, NC, are tired of the media-generated perception that there is more violent crime, and they’ve decided that they will not be victims.

The presence of crime is causing concealed weapons permits to rise. In the last 10 years permits have gone up 1000% in Lenoir County.

“They’re applying for a concealed weapons permit because they want to be able to protect themselves and they want to be able to protect their families.” Sheriff Chris Hill said.

NC: Federal Court Refuses To Block Voter ID Law!

 Doofus

At Netroots Nation, liberals slammed voter ID laws, labeling them something akin to “Jim Crow” laws. Yesterday, the U.S. District Court For The Middle District Of North Carolina refused to block the state’s voter ID law, which will be enforced in the upcoming midterm elections.
Here's what the Court said in their opinion:

How to deal with diseases in long term survival situation

diseases in long term survival situations

There are great concerns about possible Ebola pandemic spreading outside Africa, media is bombarding us with this information. We also have ongoing discussion with interesting updates on our forum.

You can read all sorts of information online, like possible reasons for fast spreading in Africa including religious beliefs and rituals there where people handled bodies without proper knowledge, contributing to the fast spreading. They also say that lack of general knowledge about diseases, hygiene and eating bush meat along with lack of training of local medical professionals caused the mess. Interesting to read, no doubt.

They also say that there is no way of some doomsday scenario of sick person getting onto regular flight, contaminating everyone, because it spreads through body fluids only etc.

All good info, but somewhere at the end of article there is one sentence that goes like this: „… so there is clearly no reason for panic…“

As I said few times before, whenever someone from government, law enforcement, or similar says „no reason for panic“ I get strong urge to buy more ammo (food, water, gas masks…).

Short Memories: Once Upon a Time, Killing Civilians was Kosher for the Brits

While British Prime Minister David Cameron several times called for a cease-fire in Gaza, and described a strike that hit a school as “appalling,” and his new Foreign Minister, Phillip Hammond, characterized the situation as “simply intolerable,” the P.M. has stoutly resisted pressure to condemn Israel during Operation Protective Edge.

On Tuesday, Sayeed Hussain Warsi, a pudgy Pakistani solicitor who never held office and was wafted to the House of Lords and made “Minister of State for Faith and Minorities” to show just what humane multiculturalists the Tories are, resigned from the Cabinet.

And though ground operations have ended, Cameron’s coalition partners, the Liberal Democrats, and Tory backbenchers are now calling for a suspension of arms export licenses.  The vilification of Cameron by the Left has meanwhile reached new depths.

In the middle of July, 45,000 people demonstrated in front of the Israeli Embassy west of Kensington Park.  The Palestinian flag has flown over the Glasgow and other town halls.  More disturbing are the boycotts.  The Edinburgh Festival canceled performances by Israeli companies.  Lancet banned articles by Israeli researchers.  The National Union of Students endorsed BDS.

The British had a different attitude not so very long ago.

Police Union Commissar: If You Resist, You Should Expect to Die

Via Jeffery

“There is an attitude on our streets today that it is acceptable to resist arrest. That attitude is a direct result of a lack of respect for law enforcement.”

Gee, I wonder why........

******************************

“We’ve heard a lot in the last number of weeks about what police officers can’t do, and what police officers shouldn’t do,” groused Patrick Lynch, designated spokesliar for the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, New York’s largest police union. “No one’s telling us what we are able to do, and what we should do, when we’re faced with a situation where the person being placed under arrest says, `I’m not going. I’m not being placed under arrest.’”

“What is it we should do?” continued Lynch, his voice colored by theatrical incredulity. “Walk away?”

If the would-be arrestee isn’t involved in an actual crime — that is, an act of aggression against another person — the only morally suitable answer is: Yes. The cop should shut up, go away, and refrain from molesting one of  his betters. The experience might encourage him to find honest work.
