Supreme Court Intervenes In Apparent Mystery Mueller Case

Chief Justice John Roberts stayed a contempt order in a case that likely arose from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation in a Sunday night order.

Sunday’s order could mark the first time that the Supreme Court has intervened in the Mueller inquiry.

Very little is known of the case, which reached the high court on Saturday, because the matter has proceeded through the federal courts under seal, meaning strict confidentiality prevails over every detail.

The scant facts which are available about the case are these: a grand jury issued a subpoena to an unnamed company owned by a foreign government some time during the summer of 2018. That firm, referred to in court filings as “the corporation” has been fighting the subpoena in federal court since August.

Last week Trump shocked many with his announcement that the mission was won in Syria against ISIS and he would pull out the 2,000 US troops there.

Democrats, their mainstream media and neocons were outraged.

General Mattis resigned in disgust.

Vietnamese Immigrants in the United States

Via Lê Bá Dzũng

Large-scale immigration from Vietnam to the United States began at the end of the Vietnam War, when the fall of Saigon in 1975 led to the U.S.-sponsored evacuation of an estimated 125,000 Vietnamese refugees. As the humanitarian crisis and displacement of people in the Indochina region (Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos) intensified, more refugees and their families were admitted to the United States. The Vietnamese immigrant population has grown significantly since then, roughly doubling every decade between 1980 and 2000, and then increasing 26 percent in the 2000s. In 2017, more than 1.3 million Vietnamese resided in the United States, accounting for 3 percent of the nation’s 44.5 million immigrants and representing the sixth-largest foreign-born group in the country.

Why Trump Can't Be Airbrushed Out of the Picture

Via John
Only one sitting president who had won the first term failed to secure re-nomination by his party. He was Franklin Pierce, whose demise came in exceptional circumstances created by the division over the issue of slavery as the nation moved towards the War of Secession.

President Donald Trump has put a number of burning issues back on the agenda. These include the widening income gap in the United States, the unintended and unexpected consequences of outsourcing, and the disequilibrium created by signing trade agreements with countries with different labor laws and environmental, health and safety standards.

In foreign policy, Trump has managed to pass on an important message: don't take American heavy lifting for granted! More importantly, Trump has persuaded millions of Americans excluded or self-excluded from the political arena to end their isolation and demand a meaningful place in collective decision-making.

Thus, for the time being at least, air-brushing Trump out of the picture is a forlorn task.

NC: Over a Dozen Criminal Illegal Aliens Released After Sheriff Vows To Go Against ICE

Well, here’s a gambit that can only end well: A North Carolina sheriff has released over a dozen illegal immigrants from jail in order to keep them from being deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker, a Democrat sworn in Dec. 3, had promised to end participation in the federal government’s 287(g) program, according to WRAL-TV. That involves transferring prisoners who were believed to be illegally in the country into ICE’s custody
.
“At this point, the sheriff is not going to be honoring those requests of detaining individuals from ICE,” legal adviser Rick Brown told WRAL

Watch: Lindsey Graham Hammers Dems for Acting ‘Like Children,’ Calls On Trump To ‘Break Them Now’

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: Lindsey Graham 2.0 is the greatest software upgrade in history. For those of you old enough to remember, it puts the leap from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 to absolute shame.

Gone is the milquetoast functionary so convinced of his own importance that he thought he was a plausible 2016 presidential candidate and ended up getting vote percentages that needed to be expressed in scientific notation. Now — well, have you been paying attention to the news lately?
