Was Lee a Traitor?

Were Robert E. Lee and the Confederates “traitors” who violated their oaths to the Constitution and attempted to destroy the American nation? Or, were they defenders of that Constitution and of Western Christian civilization?

Over the past 158 years those questions have been posed and answers offered countless times. For over a century since Appomattox the majority opinion among writers and historians was that Lee and the Confederate leadership were noble figures of a “lost cause,” but sincerely mistaken about what they were fighting for. They were admirable and valorous, even to be emulated, if in the end the “righteous cause” of “national unity” was destined to triumph.

King Arthur' castle discovery: Mysterious inscription intrigues experts

Tintagel

A mysterious inscription from the 7th-century A.D. has been discovered in the ruins of an English castle associated with the legend of King Arthur.

The inscription, which combines Latin writing, Greek letters and Christian symbols, was found on a 2-foot stone at Tintagel castle on the coast of Cornwall. Experts believe that the strange mixture of text and symbols may indicate that someone was practicing writing a text.

Experts from the Cornwall Archaeological Unit (CAU), supported by English Heritage, which manages the site, made the discovery last summer.

Europe’s grandest car park owned by Nicholas II

#Romanovs100: Europe’s grandest car park owned by Nicholas II

Nicholas II owned Europe’s most lavish car park, with 56 cars in 1917 – more than any other European monarch. #Romanovs100 takes a closer look at the Tsar’s unique collection from 4-tonne limos to his son’s tiny Peugeot Bebe.

While rich Russians had enjoyed motorized vehicles since the 1890s, it took the royal family some time to catch up. Imperial Household Minister Vladimir Frederiks invited the Tsar for a ride in his French Serpollet in the late 1890s, but that didn’t go well: the car broke down and had to be towed away using horses.

So Was Anthony Bourdain’s Death A Message?

American celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, the Emmy-winning host of CNN‘s “Parts Unknown,” has died from suicide, the network said Friday. He was 61. . . .

“We learned this morning about the death by hanging of an American chef at a luxury hotel of Kaysersberg, Le Chambard,” a prosecutor in Kaysersberg-Vignoble told French newspaper Dernière Nouvelle D’alsace. “At this point nothing suggests the intervention of a third party.” . . .

The celebrity chef was dating Italian actress Asia Argento — who has accused movie mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault and has since become one of his most vocal victims.

Peter Strzok Ready to Talk: FBI Agent to Testify Before Congress— Without Immunity

 FBI Agent Peter Strzok

Peter Strzok, the FBI agent removed from the Mueller probe following the discovery of anti-Trump text messages, is ready to testify before Congress.

Strzok’s attorney, Aitan Goelman, told the Washington Post Sunday that his client intends to appear before the House Judiciary Committee, along with other Congressional committees, without immunity. Goelman also says Strzok will not invoke his Fifth Amendment rights while testifying.

The FBI agent “wants the chance to clear his name and tell his story,” Goelman said, later adding his client “thinks that his position, character and actions have all been misrepresented and caricatured, and he wants an opportunity to remedy that.”

Ryan Amnesty Follows Gang of 8 Playbook -- Amnesty First, Enforcement Maybe Later

The draft text for House Speaker Paul Ryan's "compromise" bill is out, and it's as bad as we feared.

Speaker Ryan's amnesty plan follows the same playbook that the Gang of 8 followed, granting an immediate and permanent amnesty to at least 1.8 million illegal aliens with only promises of future enforcement.

There is some hope that the Ryan Amnesty won't pass when it comes to the House floor next week; Pres. Trump said that he opposed the bill during a live interview with Fox & Friends this morning.

5 Reasons Why You Should Conceal Carry

The best way to make sure you’re always protected today is to carry a gun. Chances are you’re reading this because you’re on the fence about concealed carry. Not only should you carry for your own protection, but you should carry because it’s your right with the 2nd amendment.

We live in a country where we’re fortunate enough to have many rights and freedoms. Unfortunately, a lot of these rights are taken for granted and every day there’s more discussion on gun control and the 2nd amendment specifically.

One of the best ways to describe our situation is that we as a people aren’t going to miss it until it’s gone. By then it will also be too late. A lot of people don’t realize how important many of our freedoms are until they’re changed.

The best way to make sure you don’t lose one of these freedoms or even have it changed is to treat it like a muscle. If you don’t exercise your right or “your muscle” it’ll become a shadow of what it once was.

President Donald Trump called Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to discuss diplomatic relations and the importance of border security.

New US ambassador to Hungary, David Cornstein, is scheduled to arrive in Budapest soon, and President Trump capitalized upon the occasion to reach out to his European counterpart.
Contents of the conversation were relayed by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó to state media.

“The two leaders had spoken about the importance of border defense, and that they had agreed that a country which is unable to defend its own borders can no longer remain a country at all,” reports Kormany.

“The Minister said that the US president encouraged Mr. Orbán to strongly defend Hungary’s southern border. Mr. Orbán reassured the President that Hungary is committed to continuing its current migration policy and will defend its borders.”

Mueller’s Bumbling and Hysterical Special Counsel Team Is Getting Pummeled in Court – Media Is Ignoring All of This

The attorneys representing Concord Management, one of the Russian Companies that the corrupt Mueller team accused of impacting the 2016 Presidential election, crushed the “Unlawfully Appointed Special Counsel” in court last week again.

They continue to make a laughing stock out of the Mueller team of misfit and conflicted attorneys.

Mueller’s team of ignorant and misguided attorneys really have no chance.  They never expected anyone to take them to court on their fake Russian indictments and are certainly no match for the attorneys representing Concord Management.

These 5 Changes Would Fix the Nation’s Budget Woes

In April, the Congressional Budget Office released its updated budget projections, and the outlook is grim.

The annual federal deficit is projected to rise to over $1 trillion by 2020 and to top $1.5 trillion by 2028. In the next decade, debt is projected to skyrocket to over 96 percent of the economy.

This is an abysmal and unsustainable budget course for the country to be on.

Thankfully, there is a solution that Congress can implement this year and sharply reverse the projected course.

On Sunday afternoon, in Tumwater, Washington, roughly 60 miles south of Seattle, a man who allegedly attempted to carjack a car outside a Walmart and reportedly shot the driver was shot to death by a citizen in the parking lot.

According to police, they were called because of a report that a drunk driver was driving in the wrong direction near a Toyota dealership. They arrived, but could not locate the vehicle, but then heard that shots had been fired at a roundabout nearby by someone trying to carjack two vehicles. A 16-year-old girl had been shot and wounded; her injuries were not deemed serious.

China's Next War

Via Jonathan

Despite being two of the world’s three remaining communist states, China and Vietnam look to be on the verge of war. Vietnam is an obstacle to China’s ambitions for East Asian hegemony.

One of truisms from popular culture is that one should never get involved in a land war in Asia.  The mistake of getting involved in a land war in Asia is hard to avoid if one of your neighbouring countries is set upon attacking you, which is Vietnam’s fate. If China is going to attack Vietnam, there would be satellite evidence of Chinese preparations, and so there is. Following (above) is a satellite photo of 36 acres of new, red-roofed buildings at army base in China 10 km north of the border at 24° 24’ 40’’ N, 106° 42’ 26’’.
