Twitter Historians Distort History, Again

Marjorie Taylor Greene forced the political left into an apoplectic rage two weeks ago when they discovered she intended to form an “America First Caucus” based on “Anglo-Saxon political traditions.” Clearly, this showed that Representative Greene intended to force “white supremacy” on the rest of the United States. After all, she openly displayed her racism by using the term “Anglo-Saxon.” Only racists—i.e. Southerners, former Confederates, Klansmen, anti-immigrationists and the like—used that term to describe “white supremacist” immigration and political policies in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This leftist two-minutes of hate mirrored the outrage over then Attorney General Jeff Sessions’s claim that the legal system in the United States is based on “Anglo-American” traditions, a phrase that has been widely and correctly used for over a century to define the American political and legal order. Greene is largely too inexperienced and dense to understand the difference between “Anglo-Saxon” and “Anglo-American,” but this was probably her intended meaning.

The Helmet of Miltiades, Symbol of a Famous Ancient Greek Warrior

Helmet of the ancient Greek warrior Miltiades the Younger

When a magnificent helmet was recovered from the ruins of the temple of Zeus researchers couldn't believe their eyes. It is very rare to find an item which belonged to a famous warrior of the ancient Greek battlefields. The offering he brought to the temple centuries ago made his name known once again. This is the story of the famed ancient Greek warrior Miltiades.

The Battle of Marathon is one of the most famous ancient battles in the world. The legends surrounding the meeting of two strong armies is still a cause for Greek national pride. Moreover, the legend about Miltiades is not only the story of a warrior. He was also related to a famous Athenian family which was known for their good education, success as politicians, and strong soldiers.

Famous Vietnamese Generals During the Vietnam War 1954-1975

From the ARVN side, I would name five exemplary generals. Maj Gen Nguyen Viet Thanh would have contributed to the ultimate success of the Cambodia incursion. Had he lived, the outcome of the Laos campaign could have turned out differently under the command of Lt Gen Đỗ Cao Trí. For their courageous last stands, Brig Gen Lê Minh Đảo at Xuan Loc and Brig Gen Tran Quang Khoi at Bien Hoa. Both officers languished for 17 years in reeducation camps. Lt Gen Ngo Quang Truong considered a top fighting general, for any Army. First would be their wikipedia entries. Later their exploits from other sources, some contemporaneous.

FBI is Combing Through Illegally-Gathered Private Data to Build Cases Against Trump Supporters

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is combing through the data of Americans gathered illegally by the National Security Agency (NSA) to build cases against Trump supporters and other so-called right-wing extremists.

A heavily-redacted report has been declassified from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) secret court showing that the FBI received private information about right-wing individuals in September 2019. This occurred as the FBI was ignoring pressing ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter terror threats while former President Donald Trump was still in the White House.

Multifaceted and multi-layered, this crisis affects nearly every institution and aspect of our lives: the financial system, the political establishment, the education system, the media, popular culture, the judicial system, the family and even the Church itself — all these are either failing outright or malfunctioning to one degree or another.

n 2010, Dung Nguyen, a 39-year-old Vietnamese fisherman living in Dickinson, Texas, decided to take his boat out early in the season. Peak shrimping in Texas’s Galveston Bay wouldn’t begin until mid-August, but Nguyen was saving to send his three children to college, so in April, he began heading out for four or five days at a time. Nguyen was accustomed to long days; he had come to America as a refugee in 1992 and had saved for years to buy his first boat. That season, the waters were calm and the catch was good; when he wasn’t harvesting shrimp, Nguyen lay on his cot watching Vietnamese soap operas. Then, on April 20, a friend radioed him: The Coast Guard was calling everyone back to shore. Deepwater Horizon, a BP oil rig 40 miles off the coast of Louisiana, had exploded. Nguyen was far from the flames and the oil. As he traveled home, he saw only an endless expanse of night and a sliver of moon. But when he reached the dock at three in the morning, the Coast Guard forced him to dump his catch. The three evenings he’d spent at sea, and the thousands of dollars he’d laid out for diesel, had been a waste.

Robert E. Lee: The Father

19. "There was no surrender at Appomattox, and no withdrawal from the field which committed our people and their children to a heritage of shame and dishonor. No cowardice on any battlefield could be as base and shameful as the silent acquiescence in the scheme which was teaching the children in their homes and schools that the commercial value of slavery was the cause of the war, that prisoners of war held in the South were starved and treated with a barbarous inhumanity, that Jefferson Davis and Robert E  Lee were traitors to their country and false to their oaths, that the young men who left everything to resist invasion, and climbed the slopes of Gettysburg and died willingly on a hundred fields were rebels against a righteous government."

The Rev. James Power Smith, last surviving member of Jackson's staff, 1907

                                                           ***********************

Continued from Part I.

“He [Lee] was a superb specimen of manly grace and elegance…There was about him a stately dignity, calm poise, absolute self-possession, entire absence of self-consciousness, and gracious consideration for all about him that made a combination of character not to be surpassed…His devotion to his invalid wife, who for many years was a martyr to rheumatic gout, was pathetic to see…His tenderness to his children, especially his daughters, was mingled with a delicate courtesy which belonged to an older day than ours – a courtesy which recalls the preux chevalier of knightlier times.”[1] – Margaret J. Preston.

Conservatives ceded all influence to the left. We are now living the consequences.

They control what we see, how we see it, and what we are supposed to think about it.

For 50 years, the left and far left have been slowly consolidating power within the main levers of influence in our society. Everything from movies and TV, academia, the mainstream media, culture, and more recently Big Tech have become increasingly unabashed mouthpieces for the Democratic Party and far-left activists. Meanwhile, conservatives have mostly resisted engaging or fighting back in any kind of unified or effective manner. We are now reaping the hellish consequences of that inaction.

The warning signs have been there for decades. University professors have been at the forefront of teaching leftist ideology since the late 1960s. I challenge you to think back to your grade school, high school, and college days and try to remember how many overtly conservative teachers you had. Now, think about how many obviously liberal ones you had. I’m fairly certain, for the vast majority of the public, most people’s foundational schooling came from overtly liberal individuals, with liberal biased assignments and reading. Yet, most of us conservatives when faced with this realization just shrugged and went on with our lives. We knew what we believed, and why we believed it and, thus, we were never threatened by or felt like we needed to “upset” the system by making sure our side was represented.

Media is the Message

Any reasonable investigation into how we got so far from the Constitution so fast has to come back to one incredibly simple answer: the media.

Sure, politicians seek to undermine the Constitution, because it’s the only thing that limits or attempts to limit their power. They have always sought to undermine its authority. That’s why Chief Justice Marshall devised a role for the Supreme Court to rule on Constitutionality. Or, he was just a power-hungry megalomaniac, maybe both. By 1801, the politicians had already sought to worm their way around the limitations of the Constitution and Marshall leapt on Marbury v Madison to insert the Supreme Court as an arbiter of Constitutionality. I maintain, and always have, that Marshall lacked jurisdiction and he admitted in his memoirs that he took the case with the purpose of devising a role for the Supreme Court.

Tim Scott Shreds Joe Biden In Rebuttal Speech: Biden Is Tearing Us Apart After Promising To Unite Nation

WASHINGTON, DC - APRIL 28: Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) walks through the U.S. Capitol before he delivers the republican response to President Biden's address to congress April 28, 2021 in Washington, DC. On the eve of his 100th day in office, Biden spoke about his plan to revive America’s economy and health as it continues to recover from a devastating pandemic. He delivered his speech before 200 invited lawmakers and other government officials instead of the normal 1600 guests because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) slammed President Joe Biden on Wednesday night as he delivered the Republican Party’s rebuttal speech to the speech that Biden gave just moments prior that was panned by critics as divisive and extreme.

“We just heard President Biden’s first address to Congress. Our president seems like a good man,” Scott began. “His speech was full of good words. But President Biden promised you a specific kind of leadership. He promised to unite a nation. To lower the temperature. To govern for all Americans, no matter how we voted. That was the pitch. You just heard it again. But our nation is starving for more than empty platitudes. We need policies and progress that bring us closer together.”

Daybreak in Dixie

Daybreak in Dixie:  Poems of the Confederacy by Linda Lee. Privately published, 2019.

For those of us who value the history of our Southern people, these are the worst of times.  Public discourse is pervaded by a Cultural Marxist hysteria that wants what we love to be dead, forever.  I rightly use the term Marxist because the campaign against us, and indeed our entire air, reflects a typical Communist  regime, lacking only the full development of a police state.  History has been abolished except in a form that is altered and twisted to fit a party line, a la Orwell.  Only one opinion is allowed.   Meaningless ideological abstractions like “white privilege” replace facts.

Yet we should be comforted.  What is true and noble cannot be entirely extinguished, and reminders of our heritage,  like this wonderful collection of new poems by the Florida writer Linda Lee, continue to flower among the dead landscape of contemporary culture.  The poet delivers   a wonderful and fresh contemplation of the heroism, sacrifice, and suffering of our people, fighters and civilians both, in their struggle against a brutal invader.

For one example, among many, she reflects on the destruction of “Silent Sam” at the University of North Carolina, a monument to the University’s Confederate soldiers.  “The Sin of Silence”:

He watched them spray paint evil words
With minds filled up with hate.
He watched as crowds be began to curse,
He felt them pull him down,
He felt the crushing of their feet
By others standing ‘round.
Sam wondered why the cops stood by,
No lifting of their hand,
Would no one there protect him now,
Back home on Southron land?
Our history now is being lost
By those we’ve never known
And those that went before us now
Are never welcome home.
Somewhere along the path of time
Some things have gone awry
And they expect us to stand down
And watch our Southland die.

We are dealing with people who have no heritage and  don’t even know what is meant by the term.  They merely want to destroy what others love—a despicable motive.

Florida patriot Connie Chastain writes in a Foreword:  “Most people today cannot conceptualize the depth of personal and regional trauma that the war and its aftermath poured out upon the South like a fiery lava flow. . . . The regional and personal trauma of our ancestors is a part of our collective memory. . . .”    Now they want to remove all Confederate memory from the battlefields, making the battlefields as meaningless as Lenin’s corpse.   The loss of our collective memory is literally the destruction of America as well as of the South.

The rest of the districts as we know now used to be either less-developed transition zones or even straight-up wilderness.

If AB 101 passes in its current version, a one-semester high school course in ethnic studies will be mandated starting in the 2029–2030 school year. Each school district will get to choose course content, and those with a Marxist agenda are waiting to pounce. Many wokesters are advocating for use of the “Equitable Math” toolkit. This blatantly political program has little to do with math, but rather wants to use the subject to destroy “white supremacy,” a phrase that shows up 43 times. It states that the “concept of mathematics being purely objective is unequivocally false, and teaching it is even much less so. The Vanishing Anglo-Saxon

The Vanishing Anglo-Saxon Minority | Chronicles

Hating white Americans, denying them the same sense of identity—and thus dignity—that is afforded to every other group is the point.

Recently, two Republican members of Congress, Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Paul Gosar of Arizona, floated a plan to launch the “America First Caucus.” A memo about the caucus’ goals cited the importance of America’s “Anglo-Saxon political traditions,” and warned that mass immigration threatens the “unique identity” of the United States.

Liberals and conservatives denounced in unison the supposed bigotry of Green and Gosar’s plans. In Time, Mary Rambaran-Olm, a researcher on race in early England and a research fellow at the University of Toronto, did what academics do best: denounce a thing as racist while confusing the matter into oblivion with “nuance.” Yet, according to conservative columnist Jonah Goldberg, the “remarkable thing about this whole project isn’t its racism or nativism but its stupidity.”

Neat trick—Biden’s former boss gets credit for killing Osama bin Laden, and Biden himself gets credit for ending the war which had long since stopped serving its purpose (in the Covid Era, we have no civil liberties left to lose). Nationalism vs. Patriotism: What's the Difference and Why it Matters

Gadsden Flag Don't Tread On Me

The terms “nationalism” and “patriotism” are often used interchangeably. This is understandable, as they have somewhat overlapping meanings, both of which suffer from a certain amount of vagueness. However, there are a number of key differences between the two that are worth shedding light on. In the final analysis, we believe that the term “nationalism,” while not denoting anything totalitarian by its nature, is not an accurate term for the sentiment that exists in the United States. Nationalism, it would seem, is more suited to Europe or Asia, places with historic nations, united by common language and ethnicity that are necessarily tied with a certain area of land.

Who won the Cold War? The Communists or the Capitalists?  Actually, they both have won it.  There was never that much difference between them to begin with, which was a central message of the Southern Agrarians almost a century ago. The Communist/Capitalists now are the U.S. regime.  They have been converging for many years and are now completely consolidated and completely in control.

The capitalists (the bankers and stockjobbers, to use the terminology of early Americans) now control a vast and ever increasing share of the wealth while the workers get poorer and poorer. Capitalists serve the purposes of the Communists and even bankroll them.

Summer Vacation Hotspots Say They’ll Shut Down Rather Than Hire Young Americans

 Hotel customers on summer vacations

Many of the businesses that used to provide employment to American teenagers are now so dependent on foreign workers that they say they’ll cut back on their business or shut down entirely this summer because of delays in getting visas.

That is a shocking choice given the fact that millions of Americans remain out of work. More than 17.4 million Americans are collecting some form of unemployment insurance right now. While many of those workers are arguably over-qualified for summer jobs at hotels, restaurants, and retail stores in popular summer destinations, there are plenty of Americans looking for jobs who would be good candidates—but employers act as if they cannot be hired.

The New York City Police Department redeployed officers in response to an attack at the Paris offices of a French weekly magazine, in what has become a regular step for the largest U.S. city following terrorist attacks in other parts of the world. The members of the NYPD grew so disenchanted with their jobs in 2020 that over 5,300 uniformed officers either retired or quit, an astonishing 75% increase over the year before, amounting to 15% of the total number of officers on the force. The impetus for the officers quitting seemed to be the death of George Floyd and the unrest that followed; between May 25 and June 24, 2020, a whopping 272 officers left the force in one month.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler Changes Tune on Rioting, Asks Public to Help ‘Unmask’ Rioters

Why don't you just arrest them?  A novel thought I know.....

Portland’s mayor struck a new tone as he called for residents to help “unmask” people behind the continued violence in Oregon’s largest city.

In an address late Friday, Democrat Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler extended a city-wide state of emergency and begged for Portland residents to assist law enforcement in “unmasking” and identifying members of the “self-described anarchist mob” that have rioted through the city nearly every night since last May.
