In Memory of Myriam

Via Looking in the Mirror

Writing these words and looking at your picture with tears in my eyes, I wonder what kind of man would kill an eight year old girl. What does this person gain by his cruel and heinous act? At the moment I saw your picture in the news as a victim of the shooting, I immediately understood why this tragedy took place.

Myriam, you are another victim of Jihad – an act of pure hatred perpetrated against you. The one who boldly pointed his gun toward your little body had to fulfill the dictates of his [God] Allah – kill the infidel, kill the hated Jew.

I speak of the morning of Monday, March 19th, in Toulouse, France when three children were shot to death. The shooting occurred in front of a Jewish school. The French media reported the tragedy with political correctness in order to appease Jihadist terrorists, which only assures more horrible attacks in the future. We are all responsible for the loss of innocent lives, all of us who deny reality and hide behind political correctness.

The religious convictions swarming in the mind of a devout man who pulled the trigger on an innocent family walking to school one morning included his own peace of mind in knowing that a paradise of eroticism awaits him in the afterlife. By now all the world knows that such a cowardly act will be rewarded by Allah with a provision of 72 virgins in heaven for compensation for a great achievement.

Looking at your picture I sadly realize that you are neither the first nor the last to be a victim of such barbarity. I feel great sorrow that you, at a very young age with all of life before you, departed from us for any reason, least of all by the hands of a religious man abiding in his dogma. But I am so certain that you are in a much better place, between the arms of the Lord, the God of Israel — the true and living God. I pray that your soul be at rest and that He receives you in all His Glory. My heart goes out to those who suffer your loss.

Today, around the world there are thousands like Myriam, kidnapped, raped and murdered by the followers of Allah because of religious doctrine and a culture that hates Jews and despises woman and girls. Yet those who make statements pointing out this truth and speaking out for freedom are considered themselves to be bigots and haters. The information war, the war on words now occurring in Western countries, is raging, the one side convincing normal rational people that it is noble to tolerate the intolerant, that progress for humanity means to condone the acts of Jihad by way of cover-ups with misinformation and erroneous reporting.

As a small child in Egypt, I invariably headed to church with fear of never returning because of Islamic Jihad against the Coptic community. Today throughout the West, many communities are vulnerable to the same threat.

Greetings:

What's odd about this is that it's really old news being sensationalized and recycled for nefarious political purposes.

The shooting happened, it was investigated, and no charges were warranted, because the physical evidence and eyewitness testimony verified it was clearly a case of self defense.

Yes, there is more to the story, and what is now being revealed, bit by bit, is that Trayvon Martin wasn't so innocent after all.

As for the issue of racial prejudice and polarization, Michael King, Jr. (his actual name) said he dreamed of the day when his children would be judged, not for the color of their skin, but for the content of their character.

Well, I reckon those folks finally got what they wanted, for the content of their character is now being repeatedly broadcast to the whole wide world.

What is REALLY wrong is for our federal government to be interfering in a local issue.

The local authorities have already thoroughly investigated this case and made their determination.

That SHOULD be the end of it.

As for the agitators and rabble rousers, in some of those cases, they're in violation of the law, and they should be arrested and prosecuted.

Are they getting a free pass because of the color of their skin?

Well, then, cancel their free pass because of the content of their character.

There's a lot more I can say on this subject, having grown up in a segregated community in North Carolina as the so-called "Civil"(?) Rights Movement was going on, and racial integration was being forced on us at the point of a bayonet by our own government.

At the time, being a typical dreamy and idealistic youth, anxious to make the world a better place, I thought racial integration was a great idea, for after all, aren't all men brothers, and aren't all races the same?

But, after all these years, and after all the violations of our Constitution, with its destruction of our lost republic and the negation of our unalienable rights, I see that in attempting to correct one perceived injustice, we committed a far greater wrong, one which probably can't be rectified without massive bloodshed.

No, it's obvious that, although all men may be brothers, all races are NOT the same, nor are all value systems of equal worth.

Further, I've come to the conclusion that racial prejudice is a natural survival instinct given to us at birth by our Almighty God, which is reinforced by years of personal observation and harsh experience.

Thank you.

Red Flags

There is an extremely dangerous thing going on in this nation, something that claws at the very fabric of civility and has the potential of fostering a degree of hostility and misunderstanding that this country hasn't seen in decades.

I'm talking about the heated unrest over the Treyvon Martin shooting.

I can understand the frustration of the parents of this young man and I want to see justice as much as any fair-minded American would. I totally agree that a full investigation should have been completed and it's findings released long before now, but if this situation isn't eased it could accelerate into a really ugly national scene and I'm sure that's the last thing Treyvon's suffering parents want.

I don't know what happened, I don't think anybody really does at this time, but taking to the streets without knowing both sides of the story and this half cocked rush to judgment is insane and Al Sharpton's self serving, inflammatory remarks are tantamount to crying "fire" in a crowded theater.

The New Black Panther Party has put a bounty on the shooter and in an unrelated incident another Black Panther has threatened to burn down the city of Detroit if certain things happen.

Extortion? Bounties? Threats to unleash a dangerous brand of civil disobedience on America. We've seen it before in Watts during the Rodney King debacle and in numerous cities in the aftermath of the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King.

President Obama, at this point, has done more to fan the flames than he has to extinguish them. Nobody is more qualified to help defuse this situation. Obama is much loved in the black community and could bring a badly needed voice of reason to this volatile situation.

If this thing is allowed to escalate it could well create an epidemic of destruction and bloodshed that could, first of all, bring on more senseless human suffering and deal a hard blow to the already suffering economy.

It is disheartening to think that there are prominent people who would unleash chaos on this whole nation for nothing more than a few seconds on national TV.

And when U.S. Representatives pronounce a guilty verdict on the floor of the House of Representatives before knowing anything but the barest of facts they don't serve the people who elected, they put them in harm's way.

This is a time for cooler heads to prevail and they are out there. Niger Innes of the Congress of Racial Equality called for moderation on TV last night and there are others.

But will a media bent on sensationalism expose the opinions of sensible men and women who call for a calm in the storm?

We have come a long, long way in race relations in America.

We need to go forward not backward.

God has the answers; we need to ask Him for them.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, and for our country.

God Bless America

Warning For America From South Africa

Re-post from 2008.

People used to say that South Africa was 20 years behind the rest of the Western world. Television, for example, came late to South Africa (but so did pornography and the gay rights movement).

Today, however, South Africa may be the grim model of the future Western world, for events in America reveal trends chillingly similar to those that destroyed our country.

America's structures are Western. Your Congress, your lobbying groups, your free speech, and the way ordinary Americans either get involved or ignore politics are peculiarly Western, not the way most of the world operates. But the fact that only about a third of Americans deem it important to vote is horrifying in light of how close you are to losing your Western character.

Writing letters to the press, manning stands at county fairs, hosting fund-raising dinners, attending rallies, setting up conferences, writing your Congressman - that is what you know, and what you are comfortable with. Those are the political methods you've created for yourselves to keep your country on track and to ensure political accountability.

But woe to you if - or more likely, when - the rules change. White Americans may soon find themselves unable or unwilling to stand up to challenge the new political methods that will be the inevitable result of the ethnic metamorphosis now taking place in America. Unable to cope with the new rules of the game - violence, mob riots, intimidation through accusations of racism, demands for proportionality based on racial numbers, and all the other social and political weapons used by the have-nots to bludgeon treasure and power from the haves - Americans, like others before them, will no doubt cave in. They will compromise away their independence and ultimately their way of life.

That is exactly what happened in South Africa.

I know, because I was there and I saw it happen.

Massachusetts militia scores another victory over Virginia

Hogwash!:)

Lawmakers from Massachusetts managed to outflank their Virginia counterparts on the House floor last week, powering through a bill that officially designates Salem as the birthplace of the U.S. National Guard — based on the town’s claim to having the country’s first militia starting in 1629.

But Rep. Morgan H. Griffith, a freshman Republican from Virginia, thought the claim sounded suspicious, given Jamestown’s founding more than a decade before the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

After some digging, the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation provided him data that a militia was formed in Jamestown in 1624, which is five years before Salem’s claim. Armed with the information, he issued a call to the old gang from Virginia, Kentucky and West Virginia — which were part of the Virginia colony — and asked them to stand up for their history.

“The real problem is that Massachusetts has first-colony envy,” Mr. Griffith told The Washington Times.

His effort fell a little short: The bill handing the claim to Massachusetts passed by a vote of 413-6, with four lawmakers voting “present.”

Homeschool Engineer

It's no secret that, in general, homeschooled children far outperform publically schooled children in many areas. Math, language arts, philosophy and history: all of these have traditionally been the domain of the homeschooler. It is our intention to expand that domain to include technology, including engineering, and break the monopoly that public and formal schools have on this area of knowledge.

So what keeps homeschoolers at a disadvantage in this area? Simply the absence of a knowledgeable mentor and the lack of suitable instructional materials. Of these two, the lack of instructional materials is the larger obstacle. Could you imagine teaching algebra or calculus without suitable text books and instructor materials, no matter what your knowledge level in the subject? Of course not. Technology is no different. Even those parents with significant experience find it difficult to pass on all their knowledge of a given area of technology. And those without this experience could feel completely hopeless in this area.

With this in mind, we decided to design a series of courses which can be studied, and taught, with no prior experience in the subject required on the part of either the student or the parent. Be careful, though, if you decide to teach these courses to your child, you might be surprised at how much rubs off on you in the process!

Even if your child has no intention of pursuing a career in technology, he or she can benefit from these courses. How? Well, for good or bad, our modern world is riddled with technology. Using the fruits of technology is one thing, understanding it at its core and mastering it for your own purpose is entirely another.

So what kind of technology are we describing? The use of spreadsheets, word processors, or web design? No, these things are handled aptly enough by others, although our courses do touch on these. No, we're talking about the kind of technology which is used by large and small companies alike to manage business data, design custom software programs, or embed computers inside the products we all use. Even the future farmer is dependent on embedded computing to run his tractors or livestock environmental systems. In our consulting work, we and our thousands of business clients worldwide have designed or helped design many of the technology products in use in the world today.

And we are going to hand the keys to understanding these systems to you with a series of courses which will be released in the near future. And remember, you don't need to know anything about any of this to get started. Later electives will allow the student to gain in-depth knowledge of practical robotics and automation, business data systems or image and audio processing.

Having trouble with pesky and intrusive state adminstrators who want to deride and disqualify your homeschooling efforts? Upon completion of one of our courses, you'll have a stack of student work to show them. Armed with this work, you can even challenge whether their public school students are working anywhere near the same level.

Even better, all our technology courses are absolutely apolitical. Our job is to help you teach your child, not to indoctrinate. If you've struggled with the authors' politics embedded in other texts, you'll find this a refreshing change.

EXCLUSIVE: Wisconsin Teachers' Unions Trained by Well-Funded Alinsky Group

Breitbart.com has learned that teachers in Wisconsin have been attending routine training workshops with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), a radical organization founded by Saul Alinsky in 1940.

In a video produced by the MacIver Institute, organizers are seen arriving at a March 17 training session with the Wisconsin Education Association Council, Wisconsin's state teachers union.

Teachers' unions led last year's protests in Wisconsin against collective bargaining reforms, and are now heavily involved in the effort to recall Republican Gov. Scott Walker. In addition to Alinskyite groups, the recall effort has attracted the support of radicals such as unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers.

In a little-known speech to Wisconsin teachers last September, Ayers spoke of the need for "a new kind of education for a new kind of citizens that can make a new kind of society” (part 1 is here; part 2 is here).

The training tactics of the IAF were detailed in a 1994 book by Jim Rooney called Organizing the South Bronx, which was praised by Ayers as on the back cover as "an outstanding book."

The book details the IAF's tactics as follows:

Homeschool Community

One of our homeschooling moms mentioned to me that when some do-gooder mentions her daughter won't opportunities for socialization, she states:

"If I want to give her the kind she would have in public school, I would simply take her into my bathroom, insult and beat her.":)

********

As a homeschooling parent I’m continually frustrated by the difficulty of talking about why we do what we do. Homeschooling is nearly always portrayed as a flight from something: bad influences, secular curriculum, bullying, drugs, violence, or simply a broken system. It’s made out to be merely an individual decision, defended (necessarily) by recourse to individual rights, a choice to exempt oneself from obligations to community for the good of one’s own children. But that seems to me exactly backwards. In fact, the homeschooling I’ve seen has produced children far less likely than the average American to see themselves as autonomous individuals, each the center of his or her own universe. Freed from the constraints of institutions, homeschooling is an opportunity to lay the foundations of community.

What really happened at the county Republican convention

There were two major story lines at Saturday’s Clark County (Washington) Republican Convention in Vancouver: the unbelievable disorganization of convention organizers, and the superlative organization of the Paul and Santorum campaigns.

Unfortunately, Columbian reporter Stephanie Rice bent, folded, spindled and mutilated them into a story that was a parody of the real convention.

Charged with two tasks–electing 94 delegates and 94 alternates to the state convention in Tacoma later this spring, and producing a platform–the county convention ended two hours late, having elected 75 delegates and no alternates, and having failed to even discuss, much less approve, a platform. Says Rice’s article:

The blame was placed on Ron Paul supporters.

The tortured syntax and passive voice tell you pretty much all you need to know: Rice couldn’t find anyone to put the blame on Paul supporters, so she put it there herself.

Here’s what really happened Saturday in Vancouver:

Hoodie-Wearing Gunmen Kill 1, Wound 5 in Bobby Rush's Chicago District

Via Puma By Design

Former Black Panther Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) made quite a fuss when he donned a "hoodie" during a speech in the U.S. House of Representatives until he was escorted out. At the time, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) "applauded his courage" for doing so.

Meanwhile, back home in Rush's district, two men wearing hooded sweatshirts, or "hoodies," were the shooters in an incident that left one dead and five injured.

In fact, during a span of six-hours Thursday night, 13 people were shot, leaving two dead in Chicago. It would seem it takes more courage to simply walk down the street in Rush's district than it does to wear a hooded sweatshirt in the House of Representatives by way of a stunt in a bizarre tribute to a young man shot and killed in Florida during a shooting incident still under investigation.

"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial Commission"

Frederick Albert Tobey: 58th North Carolina
Born in Livingston County, New York, 6 September 1842, Tobey came south with his family in 1850 and settled in Avery County – near present-day Ingalls.

He enlisted at age 19 in the “Mitchell Rangers” on 31 December 1861, a unit known as Captain John Boynton Palmer’s Company, North Carolina Volunteers. The Mitchell Rangers consisted of men from Mitchell, Yancey, Watauga, Caldwell, McDowell and Ashe counties.

The Company A of which Tobey was part was a mixed unit of cavalry and infantry known as “Palmer’s Legion,” but divided into respective infantry-cavalry commands in May 1862. Palmer was a wealthy farmer in Mitchell County at the outbreak of war, and native of Plattsburg, Clinton County, New York. Palmer is pictured below.

Tobey mustered in as Sergeant, was elected second lieutenant on 10 June 1862, and promoted to captain on 11 July, 1863. In July of 1862, Company A, still under Palmer’s command, was mustered into the 58th North Carolina Regiment. The 58th North Carolina participated in the many campaigns of the Army of Tennessee from Chickamauga to Atlanta under General’s Johnston and Hood, later in action along the Edisto River to threaten Sherman in South Carolina, and then to Bentonville in General Joseph E. Johnston’s army.

At Bentonville, it was noted that the 58th North Carolina came “within 200 yards of the enemy’s first line of works, which were at once charged and carried. The command did not halt there, but moved forward in double-quick, pursuing the enemy, flying in disorder and confusion to their second line of works, which was also charged and carried, capturing one piece of artillery near the second line.”
