Nina Lynn (1909-1995) Life Photographer

"As our president bears no resemblance to a king so we shall see the Senate has no similitude to nobles. First, not being hereditary, their collective knowledge, wisdom, and virtue are not precarious. For by these qualities alone are they to obtain their offices, and they will have none of the peculiar qualities and vices of those men who possess power merely because their father held it before them."

She was one of the first women photographers magazine Life, which became famous through a series of photo stories about the manners and customs of American society. Ticklish teenage girls, sophisticated models, the popular actress and a simple housewife, trapped in her lens on the eve of the sexual revolution, seen today as symbols of a bygone era last forever feminine.

"On the tenth of March [1865], less than a month after the burning of Columbia, [Northern] cavalry overran Fayetteville, North Carolina, and the surrounding country.

At Manchester, these troopers came upon the estate of the aged Mr. Duncan Murchison. Here Miss Kate P. Goodridge and her sister were “refugeeing” from Norfolk.

The Goodridge family was originally from New England; but, like practically all New England settlers in the South, they were heart and soul with the cause of the Confederacy, and the bore the privations with a heroism no less than the native Southerners. Five of the Goodridge family had enlisted in the Confederate service.

As in the case of thousands of other private houses, the Murchison mansion was thoroughly ransacked; but many of the family valuables had been hidden so successfully that some of the soldiers became enraged at not securing greater booty; in spite of protests, they burst into the room of a young girl who was in the last stages of typhoid fever.

The child was taken from the bed in which she lay and died while the bed and room were being searched for money and jewelry. An officer, whose name indicated foreign birth or extraction, was appealed to; but his answer to the Goodridge ladies was: “Go ahead boys, do all the mischief you can.”

Although over seventy years old, Mr. Murchison, a kinsman of Sir Roderick Murchison, was threatened with death; but Miss Phoebe Goodridge fell on her knees and begged for his life. Consequently, the soldiers refrained from carrying out their threat, but dragged Mr. Murchison, half-clad, into the nearby swamps, where he was compelled to stay until the raiders had gone away.

The troopers slashed the family portraits with their swords, broke up much of the furniture, and poured molasses into the piano. Everything in the nature of food was destroyed. Cattle and poultry were driven off or shot. All granaries of corn or wheat were torn open and the contents carried off or ruined.

Consequently, the members of the family were, like many of the women of Georgia and South Carolina, compelled to live on scattered grains left by the cavalry horses, which they washed and made over into what they called “big hominy.”

Whistling... (Birth Certificate Is A Forgery)

Oh my, what do we have here?

Incidentally, this gentleman is right. I missed this and shouldn't have.

This is not in the realm of probability stacking any more. The page portion here is curved as it is allegedly "scanned" from a book page. The curvature is consistent with both the margin lines and the printed word "Sex."

The typed word Male shows no curvature in the baseline of the text; this is physically impossible if the word "Male" was originally printed upon the same page that was scanned. Worse, the entire hospital name is straight while the text of the caption is properly curved at the margin - but not elsewhere.

Everyone has tried to explain away the various "coincidences." But for this to have happened "coincidentally" the typewriter would have had to curve the text it was typing.

Sorry, but no.

Anything?

A story in today's Philadelphia Daily News shows why it's so important that citizens be allowed to videotape cops - it can be citizens' only way to fight back against police abuse of power.

This incident happened several weeks ago in Philadelphia to Mark Fiorino, a 25-year-old IT worker who carries a gun on his hip at all times for self defense. He got the gun after several friends were mugged.

But he didn't count on attacks by police:

On a mild February afternoon, Fiorino, 25, decided to walk to an AutoZone on Frankford Avenue in Northeast Philly with the .40-caliber Glock he legally owns holstered in plain view on his left hip. His stroll ended when someone called out from behind: "Yo, Junior, what are you doing?"

Fiorino wheeled and saw Sgt. Michael Dougherty aiming a handgun at him.

What happened next would be hard to believe, except that Fiorino audio-recorded all of it: a tense, profanity-laced, 40-minute encounter with cops who told him that what he was doing - openly carrying a gun on the city's streets - was against the law.

But it's not against the law.

Gunwalker: "take the fall or start singing."

View Image

When this “field manual” is viewed through the prism of the Gunwalker scandal, the verbiage in it could implicate not just the ATF or Eric Holder’s Justice Department but the White House itself. The “field manual” was ostensibly written by ATF Assistant Director for Field Operations, Mark Chait. It is a document so potentially damaging that Chait may be faced with only two options: take the fall or start singing.

General Lee's sword will lie down at Appomattox

Below is an email from my sister and the answer to her question is yes. Mrs.deButts also gave me a copy of Lee & His Generals. Mr. and Mrs. deButts went to my father's funeral and that made me happier than if all the world's leaders had come.

"When I was pregnant with Ellen & Billy was in the army, I went to Jane Sprague & Hunter deButts' wedding. They cut the cake with General Lee's sword. Help me Brock----Mrs De Butts was Gen Lee's granddaughter?"

"Until Scarlett was able to furnish Aunt Pitty's house as it had been before the war…she had no intention of having guests in her home—especially prominent guests, such as Melly had.

General John B. Gordon, Georgia's great hero, was frequently there with his family. Father Ryan, the poet-priest of the Confederacy, never failed to call when passing through Atlanta. He charmed gatherings there with his wit and seldom needed much urging to recite his 'Sword of Lee' or his deathless 'Conquered Banner,' which never failed to make the ladies cry."

The Sword of Robert Lee
by Father Abram Joseph Ryan, Poet-Priest

Forth from its scabbard, pure and bright,
Flashed the sword of Lee!
Far in the front of the deadly fight,
High o'er the brave in the cause of Right
Its stainless sheen, like a beacon light,
Led us to Victory!

Out of its scabbard, where, full long,
It slumbered peacefully,
Roused from its rest by the battle's song,
Shielding the feeble, smiting the strong,
Guarding the right, avenging the wrong,
Gleamed the sword of Lee!

Forth from its scabbard, high in the air
Beneath Virginia's sky--
And they who saw it gleaming there,
And knew who bore it, knelt to swear
That where that sword led they would dare
To follow--and to die!

Out of its scabbard! Never hand
Waved sword from stain as free,
Nor purer sword led braver band,
Nor braver bled for a brighter land,
Nor brighter land had a cause so grand,
Nor cause a chief like Lee!

Forth from its scabbard! How we prayed
That sword might victor be;
And when our triumph was delayed,
And many a heart grew sore afraid,
We still hoped on while gleamed the blade
Of noble Robert Lee!

Forth from its scabbard all in vain
Bright flashed the sword of Lee;
'Tis shrouded now in its sheath again,
It sleeps the sleep of our noble slain,
Defeated, yet without stain,
Proudly and peacefully!

As things spin out of control........

-------,

With the recent decision of Justice David here in the State of Indiana I wanted to communicate very clearly some basic facts about myself with each of my friends out there.

1. I am not suicidal and have never contemplated suicide. If something happens and it involves me killing myself or others...its a damn lie.

2. I am not and have not ever been a homicidal maniac. I value each and every life whether I agree with the opinion of that life or not. I will not be taking any innocent lives. Period.

3. I do believe in the rule of law and will follow those laws until and unless there is no law. If a person kicks in my door I must assume that they are a common criminal. Nice guys knock and present paperwork. If it is legitimate paperwork I will consider complying with the request. The Ten Commandments were not suggestions. I try each day to live by them.

4. There is nothing illegal in my home. I don't do drugs. I don't steal. I am not sexually deviant. Anyone presenting "facts" to the contrary about me or my family is a liar.

I have already been paid a visit by the alphabet crew. With this ruling I am certain that some lucky bastard (s) here in the state are going to get all kinds of free attention.

If anything happens to me boys...you know what needs to be done. I simply want each of you to know that I am not picking the fight.

HK On The VA, Again

This is the monument to my great grandfather, John Pelopidus Leach who surrendered with Lee. It was erected at the time of his death in 1914 and depicts two hands shaking, one black and one white, with the inscription:
"This Is What He Meant - All Men Up, Erected By His Colored Friends."

Veterans Administration Hospital

From: hk.edgerton@gmail.com

Dear Rick,

Ironically, as I finished my now daily vigil outside the VA Hospital in
Oteen, N.C.; a jester in support of Sgt. Thrasher, I would receive a
telephone call from Ms. April Thompson of WREG News Channel 3 in Memphis
asking when and if I was going to return to Memphis. I wish that I could
have told her: as soon as the waters recede. However, I would hope that
my Southern family not forget Sgt. Thrasher.

I again found it ironic that the President would be sitting in a room
just last week filled to capacity with Korean War Veterans passing out
Medals of Honor to soldiers that he felt slighted because they only
received the Distinguish Cross. And further passing out accolades to
those soldiers who served the nation during this conflict. Yet Sgt.
Thrasher a member of this elite force who too gave service to this
country during this conflict; lie in his hospital bed near death facing
tyranny from a hospital staff because his only crime was to display a
very small Confederate Battle flag on his bedside table to commemorate
his ancestors during this Sesquicentennial of the War Between the
States.

Never mind that this same Veterans Administration is charged with the
duty of providing the Confederate Iron Cross, (a grave marker ) to be
placed on the grave as a marker, and will not allow these markers to be
placed on the graves of Confederate soldiers buried on their grounds.
Never mind that the Veterans Administration of Tennessee will not
recognize Black Confederate soldiers while the Great State of Tennessee
does, and will not even issue these headstone markers to be placed on
the graves of these Black Confederates. And never mind that the Federal
government has issued pensions to Black confederate soldiers, or
recognized those who spent their final days at Beauvoir, Sgt. Thrasher
just as well be Black because the treatment he receives from the
Veterans Administration in Tennessee is the same.

I spoke the words of MacArthur to Sgt. Thrasher:”I shall return” and I
shall when I raise the funds to do so, and I hope that will be soon. May
God bless Sgt. Thrasher and open the hearts and minds of those who
continue to persecute the memory of those men and women who made an
honorable stand against those who would destroy the Constitutional
Republic that our ancestors fought for and who so invaded our homeland
with the intent of subjugating us all.

The true offense here is that there is no where in the Constitution that
says a man cannot display the Southern Cross because someone purports to
be offended by it or for that reason any flag. God bless.

Your brother,

HK

Skynet is coming!

In what I will bill as an AWESOME new UAV platform, Elbit is developing a drone cargo plane, that would hypothetically be able to continuously transport one ton of supplies per trip to troops in theater (as a point of reference, a C-130J can haul 36 tons per flight, and the popular IAI Heron UAV can carry a quater-ton of stuff, but it's usually carrying electronic anti-bad guy awesomeness.) Once Elbit's robotic hauler becomes operational (in about 4-5 years), logistical support will get that much easier, not having to rotate in fresh pilots for lighter hauls, not to mention the reduced threat to airborne personnel. Now all they have to work on is the airplane's name...

Prepare yourselves, Skynet is coming...MORE

Obama plan for health care quality dealt a setback

View Image

Surprise, surprise, SGT. Carter!

========

President Barack Obama's main idea for getting quality health care at less cost was in jeopardy Wednesday after key medical providers called his administration's initial blueprint so complex it's unworkable.

Just over a month ago, the administration released long-awaited draft regulations for "accountable care organizations," networks of doctors and hospitals that would collaborate to keep Medicare patients healthier and share in the savings with taxpayers. Obama's health care overhaul law envisioned quickly setting up hundreds of such networks around the county to lead a bottom-up reform of America's bloated health care system.

But in an unusual rebuke, an umbrella group representing premier organizations such as the Mayo Clinic wrote the administration Wednesday saying that more than 90 percent of its members would not participate, because the rules as written are so onerous it would be nearly impossible for them to succeed.

In search of John Wilkes Booth's corpse picture

"On April 26, 1865—12 days after he shot Lincoln at Ford’s Theater in Washington, D.C.—Booth himself was cornered and shot in a Virginia barn. He died from his wound that day. His body was taken back to Washington and then aboard the USS Montauk for an autopsy.

The administration, led by Secretary of War Edwin Stanton, ordered that a single photograph be taken of Booth’s corpse, says Bob Zeller, president of the Center for Civil War Photography. On April 27, 1865, many experts agree, famed Civil War photographer Alexander Gardner and his assistant Timothy O’Sullivan took the picture.

It hasn’t been seen since, and its whereabouts are unknown.

“Stanton was a guy who really took charge,” Zeller says. And in this case, Zeller says, he was “trying to control photographs of Booth’s body so he would not be a martyr or lionized.” In the short term, however, the absence of the image buoyed conspiracy theories that Lincoln’s assassin was still alive."

The People .vs. Goldman Sachs

Matt Taibbi hits another homer....

They weren't murderers or anything; they had merely stolen more money than most people can rationally conceive of, from their own customers, in a few blinks of an eye. But then they went one step further. They came to Washington, took an oath before Congress, and lied about it.

Of course they did. Then again, remember this?

Was Bernanke held to account for lying to Congress? Of course not. So why should Goldman fear doing it?

IN Sheriff: If We Need to Conduct RANDOM HOUSE to HOUSE Searches We Will

Go for it, MF.

Sheriff Don Hartman, Sr. Newton County Indiana
IN Sheriff: If We Need to Conduct RANDOM HOUSE to HOUSE Searches We Will

CROWN POINT, Ind. – According to Newton County Sheriff, Don Hartman Sr., random house to house searches are now possible and could be helpful following the Barnes v. STATE of INDIANA Supreme Court ruling issued on May 12th, 2011. When asked three separate times due to the astounding callousness as it relates to trampling the inherent natural rights of Americans, he emphatically indicated that he would use random house to house checks, adding he felt people will welcome random searches if it means capturing a criminal.

Speaking under the condition of anonymity, a local city Police Chief with 30 years experience in law enforcement directly contradicted the Newton County Sheriff’s blatant disregard for privacy & liberty, stating that as an American first, such an action is unconscionable and that his allegiance is to the Indiana and federal Constitutions respectively. However, he also concurred that the ruling does now allow for police to randomly search homes should a department be under order by state or federal officials or under a department’s own accord.

At this time we are still awaiting comments from several state offices.
