What a Simple Cambodian Girl Taught Me About the Entrepreneurial Spirit

Today’s article comes from  a gentleman I’ve yet to meet, even though Mark and I know his brother well. Josh Galt is an extreme athlete who has traveled the world extensively and has built himself a life and lifestyle out of his passions, which in his case entails riverboarding some of the most amazing and dangerous rivers this planet has to offer.

He is a kindred spirit. A man who is driven by creating, learning and doing. I’d like to share with you a post he wrote recently which embodies much of what excites us about some of the rapidly growing economies of the world and opportunities.

You can find out more about Josh on his website. Enjoy!

I would rather live surrounded by the exciting chaos of birth that is Asia, than the struggling chaos of death that is the West.

I met a cute Cambodian girl the other morning as I headed back to my hotel after a run on the beach. We went to breakfast, and she told me she knew a great place to go snorkeling, which was our plan for the day.

She was fun and hot and spoke English, so of course, I told her please come with us! :) I didn’t realize she would teach me a profound lesson about what it really means to be a bootstrapping entrepreneur.

When we reached our first destination, she jumped in with me and swam around for a few minutes, but then she headed back to the boat. I figured she was going to be a diva relaxing on the boat the rest of the day, or start complaining about being bored. I quickly saw that I was very, very wrong.

Malaysian Flight MH17 Crash Analysis, by The Russian Union of Engineers

Official statement by the Russian Union of Engineers: Press  cc button for  English subtitles

This is an excellent detailed analysis of the MH17 tragedy by the Russian Union of Engineers which quite frankly illustrates how heavily censored the Dutch “report” is.

We will let you digest this report and come to your own conclusion, which in all likelihood will explain the infamous high velocity projectiles whitewash pumped out by the western “press”.

This review was undertaken by experts who not only know the subject matter but have objectively presented evidence that must be considered with the legitimacy that is inherent to it. Here is the overall description of the “Analytical Group” from the report:
A group of experts from the Russian Union of engineers was convened to analyze the situation, including reserve officers with experience in the use of anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as pilots having experience with aircraft weapons. This problem was also discussed at a meeting of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems, where many variants were tested and discussed again. In the course of their analysis the experts used materials derived from public sources, found in the media. The situation was also analyzed using a computer simulation of the Su-25.

The man who was the top Marine general from 2006 until his retirement in 2010 says President Barack Obama’s strategy to defeat the terrorist group the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria is doomed to fail.

I don’t think the president’s plan has a snowball’s chance in hell of succeeding,” retired Marine General James Conway, who served as the 34th Commandant of the Marine Corps during the end of the Bush administration and the beginning of the Obama administration, said at the Maverick PAC Conference in Washington, D.C. Friday, according to a source in attendance.

Taxpayer-funded global warming musical closes early amid bad reviews

Awwwwww.........

After a series of lackluster reviews, the traveling global warming musical that was financed by the U.S. taxpayers is ending its run early.

The Great Immensity, a musical described as “painfully long” and “awkward,” was made possible by a $697,177 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

“The play, which featured songs and video exploring Americans’ relationships to the environment, opened in New York in April with a three-week run before going on a national tour that was supposed to attract 75,000 patrons,” FoxNews.com reported. “But it stalled after a single production in Kansas City, falling short of the lofty goals outlined in a grant proposal.”

SHOCKING: Home Invader Gets Blasted With Shotgun, Then Gets Tangled In Electric Fence During His Escape

Cathy Kouba considers her Mossberg shotgun to be, "the best Mother's Day Gift Ever."

A robber near El Reno, Oklahoma, targeted the wrong home to attack. Instead of weakly cowering like an impotent Mom’s Demand Attention supporters, Cathy Kouba took action, flanked the surprised burglar by looping around the house, and then unloaded on him:

Cathy Kouba’s home security system alarm jolted her awake Thursday night. She said she realized someone was trying to kick in her back door.

“I have a daughter that’s handicapped and she was asleep on the bottom floor,” Kouba said. “And so for the fear of her being hurt, motherly instincts kick in and, you know, I worked hard for what I’ve got. And you’re not going to come and take it away from me.”

Kouba said she grabbed the gun her son gave her for Mother’s Day and ran out the front door to confront the intruder out back.

By 2018 America’s War on Injustice had entered the doldrums. There seemed to be no inequities left to conquer. The major aquifers of discrimination had been pumped dry. Hate-crime protection had been extended to blacks, Hispanics, mulattos, women, bisexuals, homosexuals, Lesbians, Native Americans, transsexuals, asexuals, transvestites, the transgendered, sadomasochists, pedophiles, and the bestiality lobby (NAMFLA, the North American Man-Fido Love Association). Affirmative action had been so successfully extended that whoe governmental departments were uniformly diverse. The Washington Redksins had been renamed the Federal Folders, and three congressmen had lost office for using the word “Oriental” to refer to Orientals.

Across the country bored adolescents in universities sought something about which to be indignant. Hunting was poor.

Then, thank God, an activist in Swarthmore’s Lesbian Chicana, Gay, and Bicephalous Studies department pointed out that not enough Tloxyproctyls were enrolled in Ivy nurseries. This was genius, though not immediately recognized as such. A collective “Huh?” rang out in progressive circles. No one knew what Tloxyproctyls were. Traffic at Wikipedia rose thirty percent for several days.

It was discovered that the Tloxyproctyls were an obscure tribe of some two dozen mostly naked Indians living in the Amazon rain forest and the Stone Age.  They ate only tree leaves and large white grubs found in rotting logs. Their language, unrelated to any other, consisted of twelve words, none of which meant anything. Their intellectual development was approximately that of a cassava root.

What a joke: "Rev." William Barber receives Martin Luther King Jr. peace prize

Via Cousin John

The Rev. William Barber, the president of the North Carolina NAACP, has received the Martin Luther King Jr. Award from an international peace organization. (Keep your noses out of our business.)

Fellowship of Reconciliation announced Thursday that it had given its U.S. peace prize to Barber for his work leading the “Historic Thousands on Jones Street People’s Assembly Coalition,” or HKonJ. The group says the award is meant “to recognize unheralded persons or groups working in the United States in the tradition of Rev. Dr. King.”

'Poor' Americans Have Surprising Amenities

VERBATIM

Much has been made of the persistent poverty rate in the United States more than 50 years after President Lyndon B. Johnson announced the launch of an "unconditional war on poverty in America."

But the actual living conditions of the more than 45 million people considered "poor" by the Census Bureau today "differ greatly" from popular conceptions of poverty, according to a report from The Heritage Foundation.

The reason: In determining who is below the poverty line, the Census Bureau considers earned income almost exclusively, ignoring nearly all government means-tested spending on the poor.

Yet U.S. taxpayers have spent more than $22 trillion on anti-poverty programs, in 2012 dollars, since 1964. Last year the federal government administered over 80 means-tested welfare programs providing cash, housing, food, medical care, and other social services to poor and low-income Americans.

These programs include Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Medicaid, and food stamps.
"Because the official Census poverty report undercounts welfare income, it fails to provide meaningful information about the actual living conditions of less affluent Americans," Heritage observed.

The foundation used data from various government reports to compile these eye-opening facts about "poor" Americans:
  • Nearly three-quarters of households classified as living in poverty in a recent year have a car or truck, and 31 percent have two or more.
  • 80 percent have air conditioning.
  • Nearly two-thirds have cable or satellite television.
  • Half have a personal computer, and one in seven have two or more.
  • 43 percent have Internet access.
  • 92 percent have a microwave.
  • Nearly half live in separate single-family houses or townhouses, 40 percent live in apartments, and just 9.5 percent live in mobile homes or trailers.
  • 42 percent own their own homes, and their average home has three bedrooms, one-and-a-half baths, a garage, and a porch or patio.
  • Over two-thirds of their homes have more than two rooms per person.
  • The average poor American has more living space than the average individual — average citizen, not average poor citizen — in France, Sweden, Germany, or the United Kingdom.
  • A U.S. Department of Agriculture survey found that in a recent year, about 83 percent of poor households reported that they had enough food to eat, and 82 percent of poor adults said they were never hungry at any time in the prior year due to a lack of money for food.
"The poor clearly struggle to make ends meet, but they are generally struggling to pay for cable TV, air conditioning, and a car, as well as food for the table," conclude Robert Rector and Rachel Sheffield, the report's authors. Rector is a senior research fellow and Sheffield is a policy analyst in the Institute for Family, Community, and Opportunity at Heritage.

"The average poor person is far from affluent, but his lifestyle is equally far from the images of stark deprivation purveyed by advocacy groups and the mainstream media."
